Abstract:We discuss an interrelation between quantum integrable models and classical soliton equations with discretized time. It appeared that spectral characteristics of quantum integrable systems may be obtained from entirely classical set up. Namely, the eigenvalues of the quantum transfer matrix and the scattering $S$-matrix itself are identified with a certain $\tau$-functions of the discrete Liouville equation. The Bethe ansatz equations are obtained as dynamics of zeros. For comparison we also present the Bethe ansatz equations for elliptic solutions of the classical discrete Sine-Gordon equation. The paper is based on the recent study of classical integrable structures in quantum integrable systems, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="hep-th/9604080" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/hep-th/9604080">hep-th/9604080</a>.

Abstract:Recent work of Foda and his group on a connection between classical integrable hierarchies (the KP and 2D Toda hierarchies) and some quantum integrable systems (the 6-vertex model with DWBC, the finite XXZ chain of spin 1/2, the phase model on a finite chain, etc.) is reviewed. Some additional information on this issue is also presented.

Quasi-periodic solutions to hierarchies of nonlinear integrable equations and bilinear relations

Abstract:This is a short review of the construction of quasi-periodic (algebraic-geometrical) solutions to hierarchies of nonlinear integrable equations. As is well known, the solutions are expressed through Riemann's theta-functions associated with algebraic curves. It is explained how solutions from this class can be treated within the framework of the approach to the integrable hierarchies developed by the Kyoto school. Three representative examples are considered in detail: the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchy, the 2D Toda lattice hierarchy and the B-version of the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchy.

Abstract:Methods are considered for applying an algebra with bilinear commutation relations to the theory of quantum integrable systems. This survey describes most of the results obtained in this area over the last twenty years, mainly in connection with the computation of correlation functions of quantum integrable systems. Methods for constructing eigenfunctions of the quantum transfer matrix and computing inner products and correlation functions are presented in detail. An example of application of the general scheme to the model of the Heisenberg chain is considered.

Abstract:This work investigates the intricate relationship between the q-boson model, a quantum integrable system, and classical integrable systems such as the Toda and KP hierarchies. Initially, we analyze scalar products of off-shell Bethe states and explore their connections to tau functions of integrable hierarchies. Furthermore, we discuss correlation functions within this formalism, examining their representations in terms of tau functions, as well as their Schur polynomial expansions.

Abstract:In this paper we present two new numerical methods for studying thermodynamic quantities of integrable models. As an example of the effectiveness of these two approaches, results from numerical solutions of all sets of Bethe ansatz equations, for small Heisenberg chains, and Monte Carlo simulations in quasi-momentum space, for a relatively larger chains, are presented. Our results agree with those obtained by the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA). As an application of these ideas, the pairwise entanglement between two nearest neighbors at finite temperatures is studied.

Abstract:It is well known that the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, the Hirota equation, and their integrable discrete versions are very important integrable equations. These integrable equations not only have deep integrability theory, but also have wide physical applications. In this paper, we focus on an integrable spatially discrete Hirota equation. The new Lax pair, Darboux transformation, rational wave solution, rogue wave solution, breather solutions and gauge equivalent structure of the spatially discrete Hirota equation are investigated. The continuous limit of the rogue wave solution and breather solution of the discrete Hirota equation yields the counterparts of the Hirota equation, which shows that the spatially discrete Hirota equation is a very good model for the numerical analysis for considering the Cauchy problem with a general initial date of the Hirota equation. Besides, we prove that this spatially discrete Hirota equation is gauge equivalent to a discrete integrable generalized Heisenberg spin model under the discrete gauge transformation. In this performance, we see that utilizing the new Lax pair, an essential properties of integrability, of the spatially discrete Hirota equation plays a significant role in the investigation of continuous limit of Lax pair of discrete integrable generalized Heisenberg spin model.

Abstract:In this paper, we generalize the Sato theory to the extended bigraded Toda hierarchy. We revise the definition of the Lax equations, give the Sato equations, wave operators, Hirota bilinear identities, and show the existence of tau function τ(t). Meanwhile, we prove the validity of its Fay-like identities and Hirota bilinear equations (HBEs) in terms of vertex operators whose coefficients take values in the algebra of differential operators. In contrast to HBEs of the usual integrable system, the current HBEs are equations of the product of operators involving e∂x and τ(t).

Abstract:This is a review of the relationship between Fay identities and Hirota equations in integrable systems, reformulated in a geometric language compatible with recent Topological Recursion formalism. We write Hirota equations as trans-series, and Fay identities as spinor functional relations. We also recall several constructions of how some solutions to Fay/Hirota equations can be built from Riemann surface geometry.

Abstract:For systems of evolutionary partial differential equations the tau-structure is an important notion which originated from the deep relation between integrable systems and quantum field theories. We show that, under a certain non-degeneracy condition, existence of a tau-structure implies integrability. As an example, we apply this principle to provide a new proof of the integrability of the Drinfeld--Sokolov hierarchy associated to an arbitrary Kac--Moody algebra and a choice of a vertex of its Dynkin diagram.

Abstract:We give an interpretation of the Hirota relations for the τ-functions of hierarchies of integrable equations in terms of intertwining operators. Abstract:Various aspects of the theory of quantum integrable systems are reviewed. Basic ideas behind the construction of integrable ultralocal and nonultralocal quantum models are explored by exploiting the underlying algebraic structures related to the Yang-Baxter equations. Physical meaning of abstract mathematical notions like universal R-matrix, quantized algebras, Sklyanin algebra, braided algebra, Hopf algebra etc. and the role played by them in integrable systems are highlighted. Systematic construction of quantum integrable lattice as well as field models and their exact excitation spectra are presented through examples. The coordinate and algebraic formulations of the Bethe ansatz are illustrated with comparison, along with the description of nested and functional Bethe ansatzes. The techniques for deriving quantum Hamiltonians from the Lax operators are demonstrated on concrete models. The exposition of this review is kept in a fairly elementary level with emphasis on the physical contents.

Abstract:In this paper the relation between 2d topological gauge theories and Bethe Ansatz equations is reviewed. In addition we present some new results and clarifications. We hope the relations discussed here are particular examples of more general relations between quantum topological fields theories in dimensions $d\leq 4$ and quantum integrable systems.

Abstract:Quantum integrable systems and their classical counterparts are considered. We show that the symplectic structure and invariant tori of the classical system can be deformed by a quantization parameter $\hbar$ to produce a new (classical) integrable system. The new tori selected by the $\hbar$-equidistance rule represent the spectrum of the quantum system up to $O(\hbar^\infty)$ and are invariant under quantum dynamics in the long-time range $O(\hbar^{-\infty})$. The quantum diffusion over the deformed tori is described. The analytic apparatus uses quantum action-angle coordinates explicitly constructed by an $\hbar$-deformation of the classical action-angles.

Abstract:Recent developments in the theory of quantum integrable particle systems in one-dimension with inverse square interactions are reviewed. First the Yangian symmetry is introduced and the energy spectra of the related spin models are discussed. The character of the su(n)1 WZNW theory is shown to be closely related with the Rogers–Szegö polynomial. Second, the infinite dimensional representation for solutions of the Yang–Baxter equation and the reflection equation is given. Based on the representation, the Dunkl operators associated with the classical root systems are constructed. The Macdonald polynomial and its generalization are discussed in connection with the eigenstates for the trigonometric case. Finally, some results on short-range interacting systems are mentioned.

Abstract:For an arbitrary semisimple Frobenius manifold we construct Hodge integrable hierarchy of Hamiltonian partial differential equations. In the particular case of quantum cohomology the tau-function of a solution to the hierarchy generates the intersection numbers of the Gromov–Witten classes and their descendents along with the characteristic classes of Hodge bundles on the moduli spaces of stable maps. For the one-dimensional Frobenius manifold the Hodge hierarchy is an integrable deformation of the Korteweg–de Vries hierarchy depending on an infinite number of parameters. Conjecturally this hierarchy is a universal object in the class of scalar Hamiltonian integrable hierarchies possessing tau-functions.

Abstract:Some new developments in constrained Lax integrable systems and their applications to physics are reviewed. After summarizing the tau function construction of the KP hierarchy and the basic concepts of the symmetry of nonlinear equations, more recent ideas dealing with constrained KP models are described. A unifying approach to constrained KP hierarchy based on graded $SL(r+n,n)$ algebra is presented and equivalence formulas are obtained for various pseudo-differential Lax operators appearing in this context. It is then shown how the Toda lattice structure emerges from constrained KP models via canonical Darboux-Bäcklund transformations. These transformations enable us to find simple Wronskian solutions for the underlying tau-functions. We also establish a relation between two-matrix models and constrained Toda lattice systems and derive from this relation expressions for the corresponding partition function.

Abstract:We present exactly solvable modifications of the two-matrix Zinn-Justin-Zuber model and write it as a tau function. The grand partition function of these matrix integrals is written as the fermion expectation value. The perturbation theory series is written out explicitly in terms of series in strict partitions.
