Abstract:. In this paper, we consider the complete lattice Q ( L ) of all quotients of a completely distributive lattice L . We show that Q ( L ) is not a completely distributive lattice even for L a completely distributive algebraic lattice. Abstract:We associate lattices to the sets of unions and intersections of left and right quotients of a regular language. For both unions and intersections, we show that the lattices we produce using left and right quotients are dual to each other. We also give necessary and sufficient conditions for these lattices to have maximal possible complexity.

Abstract:We prove a representation theorem for totally ordered idempotent monoids via a nested sum construction. Using this representation theorem we obtain a characterization of the subdirectly irreducible members of the variety of semilinear idempotent distributive l -monoids and a proof that its lattice of subvarieties is countably infinite. For the variety of commutative idempotent distributive l -monoids we give an explicit description of its lattice of subvarieties and show that each of its subvarieties is finitely axiomatized. Finally we give a characterization of which spans of totally ordered idempotent monoids have an amalgam in the class of totally ordered monoids, showing in particular that the class of totally ordered commutative idempotent monoids has the strong amalgamation property and that various classes of distributive l -monoids do not have the amalgamation property. We also show that exactly seven non-trivial finitely generated subvarieties of the variety of semilinear idempotent distributive l -monoids have the amalgamation property; we are able to determine for all but three of its subvarieties whether they have the amalgamation property or not.

Abstract:This paper introduces the order-theoretic concept of lattices along with the concept of consistent quantification where lattice elements are mapped to real numbers in such a way that preserves some aspect of the order-theoretic structure. Symmetries, such as associativity, constrain consistent quantification and lead to a constraint equation known as the sum rule. Distributivity in distributive lattices also constrains consistent quantification and leads to a product rule. The sum and product rules, which are familiar from, but not unique to, probability theory, arise from the fact that logical statements form a distributive (Boolean) lattice, which exhibits the requisite symmetries.

On Decompositions of Matrices over Distributive Lattices

Abstract:Let L be a distributive lattice and M n , q ( L ) (M n ( L ) , resp.) the semigroup (semiring, resp.) of n × q ( n × n , resp.) matrices over L . In this paper, we show that if there is a subdirect embedding from distributive lattice L to the direct product ∏ i = 1 m ‍ L i of distributive lattices L 1 , L 2 , ... , L m , then there will be a corresponding subdirect embedding from the matrix semigroup M n , q ( L ) (semiring M n ( L ) , resp.) to semigroup ∏ i = 1 m ‍ M n , q ( L i ) (semiring ∏ i = 1 m ‍ M n ( L i ) , resp.). Further, it is proved that a matrix over a distributive lattice can be decomposed into the sum of matrices over some of its special subchains. This generalizes and extends the decomposition theorems of matrices over finite distributive lattices, chain semirings, fuzzy semirings, and so forth. Finally, as some applications, we present a method to calculate the indices and periods of the matrices over a distributive lattice and characterize the structures of idempotent and nilpotent matrices over it. We translate the characterizations of idempotent and nilpotent matrices over a distributive lattice into the corresponding ones of the binary Boolean cases, which also generalize the corresponding structures of idempotent and nilpotent matrices over general Boolean algebras, chain semirings, fuzzy semirings, and so forth.

Abstract:This paper studies the differential lattice, defined to be a lattice L equipped with a map d:L→L\documentclass[12pt]{minimal}\usepackage{amsmath}\usepackage{wasysym}\usepackage{amsfonts}\usepackage{amssymb}\usepackage{amsbsy}\usepackage{mathrsfs}\usepackage{upgreek}\setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt}\begin{document}$$d:L\rightarrow L$$\end{document} that satisfies a lattice analog of the Leibniz rule for a derivation. Isomorphic differential lattices are studied and classifications of differential lattices are obtained for some basic lattices. Several families of derivations on a lattice are explicitly constructed, giving realizations of the lattice as lattices of derivations. Derivations on a finite distributive lattice are shown to have a natural structure of lattice. Moreover, derivations on a complete infinitely distributive lattice form a complete lattice. For a general lattice, it is conjectured that its poset of derivations is a lattice that uniquely determines the given lattice.

Quasimodules over bounded lattices

Abstract:We define a quasimodule Q over a bounded lattice L in an analogous way as a module over a semiring is defined. The essential difference is that L need not be distributive. Also for quasimodules there can be introduced the concepts of inner product, orthogonal elements, orthogonal subsets, bases and closed subquasimodules. We show that the set of all closed subquasimodules forms a complete lattice having orthogonality as an antitone involution. Using the Galois connection induced by this orthogonality, we describe important properties of closed subquasimodules. We call a subquasimodule P of a quasimodule Q splitting if the sum of P and its orthogonal companion is the whole set Q and the intersection of P and its orthogonal companion is trivial. We show that every splitting subquasimodule is closed and that its orthogonal companion is splitting, too. Our results are illuminated by several examples.

It allows to describe the relations between division points, isogenies, and discriminants both for a fixed Drinfeld module of rank $r$ for the above data, or for the corresponding modular forms.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the complete lattice Q(L) of all quotients of a complete Boolean algebra L. We show that Q(L) is a complete Boolean algebra for a complete Boolean algebra L by establishing an isomorphism between the set Q′(L) of all q-sets of L and Q(L). Some characterizations of the quotients of a complete Boolean algebra L and some properties of the category of complete Boolean algebras are obtained.

Abstract:For two subsets S and T of a given lattice L, we define a relative distributive (modular) property over L, that underlies a large family including the usual class of distributive (modular) lattices. Our proposed class will be called ST-distributive (ST-modular) lattices. In this paper, we explore elemental properties of ST-distributivity (ST-modularity) and find examples of maximal S and T to form ST-distributive lattices for some non-distributive finite lattices of small order. We also characterize the maximal pairs of subsets (S,T), subject to certain constraints, that induce ST-distributivity in the lattice family M_n,n for all natural numbers n greater than or equal to 3. Afterwards, we present an application of ST-modular to convex sets and polytopes. This application has been the first example found and the main guiding light for our new definitions. The aforementioned definitions are closely related to distributive elements of Birkhoff-Gratzer and Stanley's SS-lattices.

Abstract:<p>Our main goal is to develop a representation for finite distributive nearlattices through certain ordered structures. This representation generalizes the well-known representation given by Birkhoff for finite distributive lattices through finite posets. We also study finite distributive nearlattices through the concepts of dual atoms, boolean elements, complemented elements and irreducible elements. We prove that the sets of boolean elements and complemented elements form semi-boolean algebras. We show that the set of boolean elements of a finite distributive lattice is a boolean lattice.</p>

Abstract:A distributive lattice structure ${\mathbf M}(G)$ has been established on the set of perfect matchings of a plane bipartite graph $G$. We call a lattice {\em matchable distributive lattice} (simply MDL) if it is isomorphic to such a distributive lattice. It is natural to ask which lattices are MDLs. We show that if a plane bipartite graph $G$ is elementary, then ${\mathbf M}(G)$ is irreducible. Based on this result, a decomposition theorem on MDLs is obtained: a finite distributive lattice $\mathbf{L}$ is an MDL if and only if each factor in any cartesian product decomposition of $\mathbf{L}$ is an MDL. Two types of MDLs are presented: $J(\mathbf{m}\times \mathbf{n})$ and $J(\mathbf{T})$, where $\mathbf{m}\times \mathbf{n}$ denotes the cartesian product between $m$-element chain and $n$-element chain, and $\mathbf{T}$ is a poset implied by any orientation of a tree.

Abstract:A module is said to be distributive (resp., uniserial ) if the submodule lattice of is distributive (resp., is a chain) Any uniserial module is distributive but the ring of integers is a distributive non-uniserial ring as a -module. Direct sums of distributive (resp. uniserial) modules are called semidistributive (resp. serial ) modules. If is a ring with automorphism , then we denote by the skew Laurent series ring with coefficient ring in which addition is naturally defined and multiplication is defined with regard to the relation (for all elements ). For , we obtain the ordinary Laurent series ring . It is known that is a right distributive semilocal ring if and only if is a finite direct product of right uniserial right Artinian rings and for all . In [ 11 ], it is proved that the ring is right serial of and only if is a right serial right Artinian ring. In the both cases, the ring is a right Artinian ring. Abstract:It is often useful to be able to deal with locales in terms of presentations of their underlying frames, or equivalently, the geometric theories which they classify. Given a presentation for a locale, presentations for its sublocales can be obtained by simply appending additional relations, but the case of quotient locales is more subtle. We provide simple procedures for obtaining presentations of open quotients, proper quotients or general triquotients from presentations of the parent locale. The results are proved with the help of the suplattice, preframe and dcpo coverage theorems and applied to obtain presentations of the circle from ones for the reals and the closed unit interval.

On quasi-infinitely divisible distributions

Abstract:A quasi-infinitely divisible distribution on $\mathbb{R}$ is a probability distribution whose characteristic function allows a Lévy-Khintchine type representation with a "signed Lévy measure", rather than a Lévy measure. Quasi-infinitely divisible distributions appear naturally in the factorization of infinitely divisible distributions. Namely, a distribution $\mu$ is quasi-infinitely divisible if and only if there are two infinitely divisible distributions $\mu_1$ and $\mu_2$ such that $\mu_1 \ast \mu = \mu_2$. The present paper studies certain properties of quasi-infinitely divisible distributions in terms of their characteristic triplet, such as properties of supports, finiteness of moments, continuity properties and weak convergence, with various examples constructed. In particular, it is shown that the set of quasi-infinitely divisible distributions is dense in the set of all probability distributions with respect to weak convergence. Further, it is proved that a distribution concentrated on the integers is quasi-infinitely divisible if and only if its characteristic function does not have zeroes, with the use of the Wiener-Lévy theorem on absolutely convergent Fourier series. A number of fine properties of such distributions are proved based on this fact. A similar characterisation is not true for non-lattice probability distributions on the line.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the covering dimension of finite distributive lattices. By the Birkhoff's representation theorem for finite distributive lattices, we prove that for any finite distributive lattice L , , where is the set of all maximal elements of join-irreducible elements of L . Based on the relationships between the covering dimension of topological spaces and that of bounded distributive lattices, we characterize the covering dimension of finite spaces. Finally, we study the covering dimension of the linear sum, Cartesian product, lexicographic product and rectangular product of two finite distributive lattices.
