Abstract:In this paper, we establish a structure theorem for connected graded Hopf algebras over a field of characteristic 0 by claiming the existence of a family of homogeneous generators and a total order on the index set that satisfy some desirable conditions. The approach to the structure theorem is constructive, based on the combinatorial properties of Lyndon words and the standard bracketing on words. As a surprising consequence of the structure theorem, we show that connected graded Hopf algebras of finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension over a field of characteristic 0 are all iterated Hopf Ore extensions of the base field. In addition, some keystone facts of connected Hopf algebras over a field of characteristic 0 are observed as corollaries of the structure theorem, without the assumptions of having finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension (or affineness) on Hopf algebras or of that the base field is algebraically closed.

Abstract:In this paper we define an algebra structure on the vector space $L(\Sigma)$ generated by links in the manifold $\Sigma \times [0,1]$ where $\Sigma $ is an oriented surface. This algebra has a filtration and the associated graded algebra $L_{Gr}(\Sigma)$ is naturally a Poisson algebra. There is a Poisson algebra homomorphism from the algebra of chord diagrams $ch(\Sigma)$ on $\Sigma $ to $L_{Gr}(\Sigma)$. We show that multiplication in $L(\Sigma)$ provides a geometric way to define a deformation quantization of the algebra of chord diagrams, provided there is a universal Vassiliev invariant for links in $\Sigma\times [0,1]$. The quantization descends to a quantization of the moduli space of flat connections on $\Sigma $ and it is universal with respect to group homomorphisms. If $\Sigma $ is compact with free fundamental group we construct a universal Vassiliev invariant.

Abstract:Recently, Chmutov proved that the partial-dual polynomial considered as a function on chord diagrams satisfies the four-term relations. In this paper, we show that this function on framed chord diagrams also satisfies the four-term relations, i.e., is a framed weight system.

Abstract:The notion of weak Doi-Hopf π-datum and weak Doi-Hopf π-module are given as generalizations of an ordinary weak Doi-Hopf datum and weak Doi-Hopf module introduced in (Böhm, 2000), also as a generalization of a Doi-Hopf π-module introduced in (Wang, 2004). Then we also show that the functor forgetting action or coaction has an adjoint. Furthermore we explain how the notion of weak Doi-Hopf π-datum is related to weak smash product. This paper presents our preliminary results on weak Doi-Hopf group modules.

Abstract:We Introduce the notion of chord diagrams on arbitrary compact (possibly punctured) oriented surfaces. In the case of the 2-spheres these are just the usual chord diagrams used in test study of Vassiliev invariants of links. We consider the algebra of chord diagrams on a surface and prove that this algebra has a natural Poisson structure. Suppose now that G is a Lie group with an invariant bilinear form on g = Lie(G). We can associate to each chord diagram (coloured by representations of G) a function on the moduli space of flat G-connections on the surface. Our main result states that this map is a Poisson algebra homomorphism. Moreover, for most classical groups we prove that any algebraic function on moduli space can be obtained this way and we conjecture that this holds for all simple groups. In this way we obtain a universal description of the Poisson algebra of the moduli space, decoupling the Lie group in question.

Abstract:In this paper, the major result is the structure theorem of a right Hopf module over a right Hopf algebra, which is a generalization of the structure theorem of a right Hopf module over a Hopf algebra. An example is given. As a preparation, homological properties are studied firstly on right Hopf modules over a bialgebra. Moreover, right Hopf algebras and their right Hopf modules are discussed through integrals. At last, for a right Hopf algebra H, a necessary and sufficient condition is given under which Hdegrees = H*(rat) becomes a right H-Hopf module such that Hdegrees congruent to (integral circle timesH) circle times (Hdegrees/Im alpha).
An algebraic geometric realization of the Chern character

Abstract:Using symmetrized Grassmannians we give an algebraic geometric presentation, in the level of classifying spaces, of the Chern character and its relation to Chern classes. This allows one to define, for any projective variety $X$, a Chern character map from the "holomorphic K-theory of X to its morphic cohomology (introduced by Friedlander and Lawson). The holomorphic K-theory of $X$, introduced by Lawson, Lima-Filho and Michelsohn and also by Friedlander and Walker, is defined in terms a group-completion of the space of algebraic morphisms from X into BU. It has been further studied by the authors in a companion paper. Holomorphic K-theory sits between algebraic K-theory and topological K-theory in the same way that morphic cohomology sits between motivic cohomology and ordinary cohomology. Our constructions provide a bridge between these two worlds. We also realize Chern classes in the case where X is smooth, and establish a universal relation between the Chern character and the Chern classes. We use classical constructions with algebraic cycles and infinite symmetric products of projective spaces. The latter can be seen as the classifying space for motivic cohomology, and under this perspective our constructions are essentially motivic.

Abstract:We introduce characteristics into chromatic homotopy theory. This parallels the prime characteristics in number theory as well as in our earlier work on structured ring spectra and unoriented bordism theory. Here, the K(n)-local Hopkins-Miller classes $\zeta_n$ take the places of the prime numbers, and this allows us to discuss higher bordism theories. We prove that the K(2)-localizations of the spectrum of topological modular forms as well as the string bordism spectrum have characteristic $\zeta_2$.

Projective dimension of weakly chordal graphic arrangements

Abstract:A graphic arrangement is a subarrangement of the braid arrangement whose set of hyperplanes is determined by an undirected graph. A classical result due to Stanley, Edelman and Reiner states that a graphic arrangement is free if and only if the corresponding graph is chordal, i.e., the graph has no chordless cycle with four or more vertices. In this article we extend this result by proving that the module of logarithmic derivations of a graphic arrangement has projective dimension at most one if and only if the corresponding graph is weakly chordal, i.e., the graph and its complement have no chordless cycle with five or more vertices.

Abstract:In this article, the comodule structure of Chow rings of Flag manifolds $\operatorname{CH}(G/B)$ is described by Schubert cells. Its equivariant version gives rise to a Hopf structure of the equivariant cohomology of flag manifolds $H^*_B(G/B)$. We get two identities of generalized Schubert polynomials as explanations of the geometric facts.

Abstract:In the context of discrete Morse theory, we introduce Morse frames, which are maps that associate a set of critical simplexes to all simplexes. The main example of Morse frames are the Morse references. In particular, these Morse references allow computing Morse complexes, an important tool for homology. We highlight the link between Morse references and gradient flows. We also propose a novel presentation of the Annotation algorithm for persistent cohomology, as a variant of a Morse frame. Finally, we propose another construction, that takes advantage of the Morse reference for computing the Betti numbers in mod 2 arithmetic.

Connected chord diagrams and bridgeless maps

Abstract:We present a surprisingly new connection between two well-studied combinatorial classes: rooted connected chord diagrams on one hand, and rooted bridgeless combinatorial maps on the other hand. We describe a bijection between these two classes, which naturally extends to indecomposable diagrams and general rooted maps. As an application, this bijection provides a simplifying framework for some technical quantum field theory work realized by some of the authors. Most notably, an important but technical parameter naturally translates to vertices at the level of maps. We also give a combinatorial proof to a formula which previously resulted from a technical recurrence, and with similar ideas we prove a conjecture of Hihn. Independently, we revisit an equation due to Arquès and Béraud for the generating function counting rooted maps with respect to edges and vertices, giving a new bijective interpretation of this equation directly on indecomposable chord diagrams, which moreover can be specialized to connected diagrams and refined to incorporate the number of crossings. Finally, we explain how these results have a simple application to the combinatorics of lambda calculus, verifying the conjecture that a certain natural family of lambda terms is equinumerous with bridgeless maps.

A Combinatorial Hopf Algebra on Partition Diagrams

Abstract:We introduce a Combinatorial Hopf Algebra (CHA) with bases indexed by the partition diagrams indexing the bases for partition algebras. By analogy with the operation $H_{\alpha} H_{\beta} = H_{\alpha \cdot \beta}$ for the complete homogeneous basis of the CHA $ \textsf{NSym}$ given by concatenating compositions $\alpha$ and $\beta$, we mimic this multiplication rule by setting $\textsf{H}_{\pi} \textsf{H}_{\rho} = \textsf{H}_{\pi \otimes \rho}$ for partition diagrams $\pi$ and $\rho$ and for the horizontal concatenation $\pi \otimes \rho$ of $ \pi$ and $\rho$. This gives rise to a free, graded algebra $\textsf{ParSym}$, which we endow with a CHA structure by lifting the CHA structure of $ \textsf{NSym}$ using an analogue, for partition diagrams, of near-concatenations of integer compositions. Unlike the Hopf algebra $\textsf{NCSym}$ on set partitions, the new CHA $\textsf{ParSym}$ projects onto $\textsf{NSym}$ in natural way via a ``forgetful'' morphism analogous to the projection of $\textsf{NSym}$ onto its commutative counterpart $\textsf{Sym}$. We prove, using the Boolean transform for the sequence $(B_{2n} : n \in \mathbb{N})$ of even-indexed Bell numbers, an analogue of Comtet's generating function for the sequence counting irreducible permutations, yielding a formula for the number of generators in each degree for $\textsf{ParSym}$, and we prove, using a sign-reversing involution, an evaluation for the antipode for $\textsf{ParSym}$. An advantage of our CHA being defined on partition diagrams in full generality, in contrast to a previously defined Hopf algebra on uniform block permutations, is given by how the coproduct operation we have defined for $\textsf{ParSym}$ is such that the usual diagram subalgebras of partition algebras naturally give rise to Hopf subalgebras of $\textsf{ParSym}$ by restricting the indexing sets of the graded components to diagrams of a specified form.

Abstract:Journal of Knot Theory and Its Ramifications, Volume 33, Issue 08, July 2024. In this paper, we generalize the well-known constructions of invariants of framed links and 3-manifolds based on Hopf algebras to multiplier Hopf algebras. Results include a structural characterization of ribbon multiplier Hopf algebras from which invariants of framed links arise from the usual functorial construction to the ribbon category of modules, and the extension of Hennings construction of invariants of framed links and 3-manifolds obtained from Hopf algebras to algebraic quantum groups equipped with an appropriate trace.

Framed $E_2$ structures in Floer theory

Abstract:We resolve the long-standing problem of constructing the action of the operad of framed (stable) genus-$0$ curves on Hamiltonian Floer theory; this operad is equivalent to the framed $E_2$ operad. We formulate the construction in the following general context: we associate to each compact subset of a closed symplectic manifold a new chain-level model for symplectic cohomology with support, which we show carries an action of a model for the chains on the moduli space of framed genus $0$ curves. This construction turns out to be strictly functorial with respect to inclusions of subsets, and the action of the symplectomorphism group. In the general context, we appeal to virtual fundamental chain methods to construct the operations over fields of characteristic $0$, and we give a separate account, over arbitrary rings, in the special settings where Floer's classical transversality approach can be applied. We perform all constructions over the Novikov ring, so that the algebraic structures we produce are compatible with the quantitative information that is contained in Floer theory. Over fields of characteristic $0$, our construction can be combined with results in the theory of operads to produce explicit operations encoding the structure of a homotopy $BV$ algebra. In an appendix, we explain how to extend the results of the paper from the class of closed symplectic manifolds to geometrically bounded ones.

Abstract:For an n -TET tuning system, we propose a formalism to study the transformations of k -chords over a generalized non-degenerate Tonnetz generated by a given interval structure. Root and mode are the two components of a directed chord on which the algebra operates, so that chord transformations within one chord cell or towards other cells, and paths or simple circuits over the chord network can be determined without resorting to computational algorithms or geometrical representations. The one-step transformations over the edges of the chord network associated with the k−1 drift operators generalize the basic operators P, R and L of the Neo-Riemmanian triadic progressions and the maximally smooth cycles of the 12-TET system to any higher dimensional space.

The Chromatic Lagrangian: Wavefunctions and Open Gromov-Witten Conjectures

Abstract:Inside a symplectic leaf of the cluster Poisson variety of Borel-decorated $PGL_2$ local systems on a punctured surface is an isotropic subvariety we will call the chromatic Lagrangian. Local charts for the quantized cluster variety are quantum tori defined by cubic planar graphs, and can be put in standard form after some additional markings giving the notion of a framed seed. The mutation structure is encoded as a groupoid. The local description of the chromatic Lagrangian defines a wavefunction which, we conjecture, encodes open Gromov-Witten invariants of a Lagrangian threefold in threespace defined by the cubic graph and the other data of the framed seed. We also find a relationship we call framing duality: for a family of "canoe" graphs, wavefunctions for different framings encode DT invariants of symmetric quivers.

Abstract:We present and study the following conjecture: for an integer $t\geq 4$ and a graph $H$, every even-hole-free graph of large enough treewidth has an induced subgraph isomorphic to either $K_t$ or $H$, if (and only if) $H$ is a $K_4$-free chordal graph. The ``only if'' part follows from the properties of the so-called layered wheels due to Sintiari and Trotignon. Alecu, Chudnovsky, Spirkl and the author recently proved the conjecture in two special cases: (a) when $t=4$; and (b) when $H=cone (F)$ for some forest $F$; that is, $H$ is obtained from $F$ by adding a universal vertex. Our first result is a common strengthening: for an integer $t\geq 4$ and graphs $F$ and $H$, (even-hole, $cone(cone (F))$, $H$, $K_t$)-free graphs have bounded treewidth if and only if $F$ is a forest and $H$ is a $K_4$-free chordal graph. Also, for general $t\geq 4$, we push the current state of the art further than (b) by settling the conjecture for the smallest choices of $H$ that are not coned forests. This follows from our second result: we prove the conjecture when $H$ is a crystal; that is, a graph obtained from several coned double stars by gluing them together along the middle edges of the double stars. In the first version of this paper, we suggested a strengthening of our main conjecture, that for every $t\geq 1$, every graph of sufficiently large treewidth has an induced subgraph of treewidth $t$ which is either complete, complete bipartite, or $2$-degenerate. This strengthening has now been refuted by Chudnovsky and Trotignon [On treewidth and maximum cliques, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2405.07471" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2405.07471">arXiv:2405.07471</a>, 2024].

Framed motivic $Γ$-spaces

Abstract:We combine several mini miracles to achieve an elementary understanding of infinite loop spaces and very effective spectra in the algebro-geometric setting of motivic homotopy theory. Our approach combines $\Gamma$-spaces and framed correspondences into the concept of framed motivic $\Gamma$-spaces; these are continuous or enriched functors of two variables that take values in motivic spaces and are equipped with a framing. We craft proofs of our main results by imposing further axioms on framed motivic $\Gamma$-spaces such as a Segal condition for simplicial Nisnevich sheaves, cancellation, ${\mathbb A}^{1}$- and $\sigma$-invariance, Nisnevich excision, Suslin contractibility, and grouplikeness. This adds to the discussion in the literature on coexisting points of view on the ${\mathbb A}^{1}$-homotopy theory of algebraic varieties.

Abstract:We define a Hopf algebra of polylogarithms of an infinite field, which is a candidate for a conjectural Hopf algebra of framed mixed Tate motives. Our definition is elementary and mimics Goncharov's construction of higher Bloch groups. We also discuss the Hodge and motivic realization of the Hopf algebra of polylogarithms.
