Abstract:The $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight system, corresponding to the colored Jones polynomial of knots, is one of the the simplest weight system for chord diagrams. Recent works have led to explicit computations of this weight system on chord diagrams with complete and complete bipartite intersection graphs using $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight systems on shares, i.e., on chord diagrams on two strands. In this paper, we continue our study of shares. We prove a conjecture by Lando about a duality of values of the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ weight system on chord diagrams whose intersection graphs are joins of complementary graphs with discrete ones. To achieve this, we introduce the two-colored intersection graph of shares, define the inner product of shares, and use chord-adding operators.

Abstract:We introduce a universal weight system (a function on chord diagrams satisfying the $4$-term relation) taking values in the ring of polynomials in infinitely many variables whose particular specializations are weight systems associated with the Lie algebras $\mathfrak{so}(N)$, $\mathfrak{sp}(2M)$, as well as Lie superalgebras $\mathfrak{osp}(N|2M)$. We extend this weight system to permutations and provide an efficient recursion for its computation. The construction for this weight system extends a similar construction for the universal polynomial weight system responsible for the Lie algebras $\mathfrak{gl}(N)$ and superalgebras $\mathfrak{gl}(N|M)$ introduced earlier by the second named author.

On Polynomial Representations of Dual DP Color Functions

Abstract:DP-coloring (also called correspondence coloring) is a generalization of list coloring that was introduced by Dvořák and Postle in 2015. The chromatic polynomial of a graph is an important notion in algebraic combinatorics that was introduced by Birkhoff in 1912; denoted $P(G,m)$, it equals the number of proper $m$-colorings of graph $G$. Counting function analogues of chromatic polynomials have been introduced for list colorings: $P_{\ell}$, list color functions (1990); DP colorings: $P_{DP}$, DP color functions (2019), and $P^*_{DP}$, dual DP color functions (2021). For any graph $G$ and $m \in \mathbb{N}$, $P_{DP}(G, m) \leq P_\ell(G,m) \leq P(G,m) \leq P_{DP}^*(G,m)$. In 2022 (improving on older results) Dong and Zhang showed that for any graph $G$, $P_{\ell}(G,m)=P(G,m)$ whenever $m \geq |E(G)|-1$. Consequently, the list color function of a graph is a polynomial for sufficiently large $m$. One of the most important and longstanding open questions on DP color functions asks: for every graph $G$ is there an $N \in \mathbb{N}$ and a polynomial $p(m)$ such that $P_{DP}(G,m) = p(m)$ whenever $m \geq N$? We show that the answer to the analogue of this question for dual DP color functions is no. Our proof reveals a connection between a dual DP color function and the balanced chromatic polynomial of a signed graph introduced by Zaslavsky in 1982.

Abstract:In 2006, Helleseth and Kholosha conjectured and partially proved the existence of a class of ternary weakly regular monomial bent functions and also the expression for the dual bent function up to the sign value. The bentness was finally proved later in 2009 using a complicated technique that employs Stickelberger's theorem. Extensively using the previously found results and approaches, in this paper, a surprisingly short proof for the conjectured expression of the dual is given but without resolving the sign ambiguity. Furthermore, we resolve the sign by finding the trace representation of the dual function.

Abstract:We generalize the construction of affine polar graphs in two different ways to obtain new partial difference sets and amorphic association schemes. The first generalization uses a combination of quadratic forms and uniform cyclotomy. In the second generalization we replace the quadratic form in the affine polar graph construction by higher degree homogeneous functions that are $p$-ary weakly regular bent. The negative Latin square type partial difference sets arising from the first generalization are new.

Abstract:Wei's celebrated Duality Theorem is generalized in several ways, expressed as duality theorems for linear codes over division rings and, more generally, duality theorems for matroids. These results are further generalized, resulting in two Wei-type duality theorems for new combinatorial structures that are introduced and named {\em demi-matroids}. These generalize matroids and are the appropriate combinatorial objects for describing the duality in Wei's Duality Theorem. A new proof of the Duality Theorem is thereby given that explains the theorem in combinatorial terms. Special cases of the general duality theorems are also given, including duality theorems for cycles and bonds in graphs and for transversals.

Abstract:We introduce and study dual functions of generalized Boolean bent functions over Z(4), i.e., functions from F2-vector spaces to Z(4) whose Fourier transforms have constant magnitudes. For a special class of generalized Boolean bent functions with even number of variables constructed from a class of quadratic binary bent functions in polynomial forms proposed by the first author, we explicitly determine their dual functions by explicitly determining duals of these binary bent functions.
On Chow weight structures for $cdh$-motives with integral coefficients

Abstract:The main goal of this paper is to define a certain Chow weight structure $w_{Chow}$ on the category $DM_c(S)$ of (constructible) $cdh$-motives over an equicharacteristic scheme $S$. In contrast to the previous papers of D. Hébert and the first author on weights for relative motives (with rational coefficients), we can achieve our goal for motives with integral coefficients (if $\operatorname{char}S=0$; if $\operatorname{char}S=p>0$ then we consider motives with $\mathbb{Z}[\frac{1}{p}]$-coefficients). We prove that the properties of the Chow weight structures that were previously established for $\mathbb{Q}$-linear motives can be carried over to this "integral" context (and we generalize some of them using certain new methods). In this paper we mostly study the version of $w_{Chow}$ defined via "gluing from strata"; this enables us to define Chow weight structures for a wide class of base schemes. As a consequence, we certainly obtain certain (Chow)-weight spectral sequences and filtrations for any (co)homology of motives.

A Galois Connection Approach to Wei-Type Duality Theorems

Abstract:In 1991, Wei proved a duality theorem that established an interesting connection between the generalized Hamming weights of a linear code and those of its dual code. Wei’s duality theorem has since been extensively studied from different perspectives and extended to other settings. In this paper, we re-examine Wei’s duality theorem and its various extensions, henceforth referred to as Wei-type duality theorems, from a new Galois connection perspective. Our approach is based on the observation that the generalized Hamming weights and the dimension/length profiles of a linear code form a Galois connection. The central result of this paper is a general Wei-type duality theorem for two Galois connections between finite subsets of $\mathbb {Z}$ , from which all the known Wei-type duality theorems can be recovered. As corollaries of our central result, we prove new Wei-type duality theorems for $w$ -demi-matroids defined over finite sets and $w$ -demi-polymatroids defined over modules with a composition series, which further allows us to unify and generalize all the known Wei-type duality theorems established for codes endowed with various metrics.
On a conjecture of Gross, Mansour and Tucker for $Δ$-matroids

Abstract:Gross, Mansour, and Tucker introduced the partial-duality polynomial of a ribbon graph [Distributions, European J. Combin. 86, 1--20, 2020], the generating function enumerating partial duals by the Euler genus. Chmutov and Vignes-Tourneret wondered if this polynomial and its conjectured properties would hold for general delta-matroids, which are combinatorial abstractions of ribbon graphs. Yan and Jin contributed to this inquiry by identifying a subset of delta-matroids-specifically, even normal binary ones-whose twist polynomials are characterized by a singular term. Building upon this foundation, the current paper expands the scope of the investigation to encompass even non-binary delta-matroids, revealing that none of them have width-changing twists.

Generalized Schur-Weyl dualities for quantum affine symmetric pairs and orientifold KLR algebras

Abstract:Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a complex simple Lie algebra and $U_qL\mathfrak{g}$ the corresponding quantum affine algebra. We construct a functor ${}^{\theta}{\sf F}$ between finite-dimensional modules over a quantum symmetric pair of affine type $U_q\mathfrak{k}\subset U_qL{\mathfrak{g}}$ and an orientifold KLR algebra arising from a framed quiver with a contravariant involution, providing a boundary analogue of Kang-Kashiwara-Kim-Oh generalized Schur-Weyl duality. With respect to their construction, our combinatorial model is further enriched with the poles of a trigonometric K-matrix intertwining the action of $U_q\mathfrak{k}$ on finite-dimensional $U_qL{\mathfrak{g}}$-modules. By construction, ${}^{\theta}{\sf F}$ is naturally compatible with the Kang-Kashiwara-Kim-Oh functor in that, while the latter is a functor of monoidal categories, ${}^{\theta}{\sf F}$ is a functor of module categories. Relying on a suitable isomorphism à la Brundan-Kleshchev-Rouquier, we prove that ${}^{\theta}{\sf F}$ recovers the Schur-Weyl dualities due to Fan-Lai-Li-Luo-Wang-Watanabe in quasi-split type $\sf AIII$.

Symplectic duality for topological recursion

Abstract:We consider weighted double Hurwitz numbers, with the weight given by arbitrary rational function times an exponent of the completed cycles. Both special singularities are arbitrary, with the lengths of cycles controlled by formal parameters (up to some maximal length on both sides), and on one side there are also distinguished cycles controlled by degrees of formal variables. In these variables the weighted double Hurwitz numbers are presented as coefficients of expansions of some differentials that we prove to satisfy topological recursion. Our results partly resolve a conjecture that we made in [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2106.08368" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2106.08368">arXiv:2106.08368</a>] and are based on a system of new explicit functional relations for the more general $(m,n)$-correlation functions, which correspond to the case when there are distinguished cycles controlled by formal variables in both special singular fibers. These $(m,n)$-correlation functions are the main theme of this paper and the latter explicit functional relations are of independent interest for combinatorics of weighted double Hurwitz numbers. We also put our results in the context of what we call the "symplectic duality", which is a generalization of the $x-y$ duality, a phenomenon known in the theory of topological recursion.

Weight enumerators of self-dual quantum codes

Abstract:We use algebraic invariant theory to study three weight enumerators of self-dual quantum codes over finite fields. We show that the weight enumerators of self-dual quantum codes can be expressed algebraically by two polynomials and the double weight enumerators of self-dual quantum codes can be expressed algebraically by five polynomials. We also explicitly compute the complete weight enumerators of some special self-dual quantum codes. Our approach avoids applying the well-known Molien's formula and demonstrates the potential of employing invariant theory to compute weight enumerators of quantum codes.

Duality for Normal Lattice Expansions and Sorted, Residuated Frames with Relations

Abstract:We revisit the problem of Stone duality for lattices with various quasioperators, first studied in [14], presenting a fresh duality result. The new result is an improvement over that of [14] in two important respects. First, the axiomatization of frames in [14] was rather cumbersome and it is now simplified, partly by incorporating Gehrke's proposal [8] of section stability for relations. Second, morphisms are redefined so as to preserve Galois stable (and co-stable) sets and we rely for this, partly again, on Goldblatt's [11] recently proposed definition of bounded morphisms for polarities, though we need to strengthen the definition in order to get a Stone duality result. In studying the dual algebraic structures associated to polarities with relations we demonstrate that stable/co-stable set operators result as the Galois closure of the restriction of classical (though sorted) image operators generated by the frame relations to Galois stable/co-stable sets. This provides a proof, at the representation level, that non-distributive logics can be viewed as fragments of sorted, residuated (poly)modal logics, a research direction initiated in [16,17].

Abstract:We unite two themes in dyadic analysis and number theory by studying an analogue of the failure of the Hasse principle in harmonic analysis. Explicitly, we construct an explicit family of measures on the real line that are $p$-adic and $q$-adic doubling for any distinct primes $p$ and $q$, yet not doubling, and we apply these results to show analogous statements about the reverse Hölder and Muckenhoupt $A_p$ classes of weights. The proofs involve a delicate interplay among several geometric and number theoretic properties.

Abstract:Weighted enumeration of reduced pipe dreams (or rc-graphs) results in a combinatorial expression for Schubert polynomials. The duality between the set of reduced pipe dreams and certain antidiagonals has important geometric implications [A. Knutson and E. Miller, Gr\"obner geometry of Schubert polynomials, Ann. Math. 161, 1245-1318]. The original proof of the duality was roundabout, relying on the algebra of certain monomial ideals and a recursive characterization of reduced pipe dreams. This paper provides a direct combinatorial proof.
