Abstract:We consider Diophantine quintuples $\{a, b, c, d, e\}$, sets of distinct positive integers the product of any two elements of which is one less than a perfect square. Triples of the first kind are the subsets $\{a, b, d\}$ with $d> b^{5}$. We show that there are no Diophantine quintuples containing triples of the first kind.

Abstract:We consider a variety of Euler’s sum of powers conjecture, i.e., whether the Diophantine system $$\left\{{\matrix{{n = {a_1} + {a_2} + \ldots + {a_{s - 1}},} \hfill \cr {{a_1}{a_2} \ldots {a_{s - 1}}({a_1} + {a_2} + \ldots + {a_{s - 1}}) = {b^s}} \hfill \cr}} \right.$$ has positive integer or rational solutions n, b, aj, i = 1, 2, …, s − 1, s ⩾ 3. Using the theory of elliptic curves, we prove that it has no positive integer solution for s = 3, but there are infinitely many positive integers n such that it has a positive integer solution for s ⩾ 4. As a corollary, for s ⩾ 4 and any positive integer n, the above Diophantine system has a positive rational solution. Meanwhile, we give conditions such that it has infinitely many positive rational solutions for s ⩾ 4 and a fixed positive integer n.
A Variety of Euler's Conjecture

Abstract:We consider a variety of Euler's conjecture, i.e., whether the Diophantine system n=a_1+a_2+⋯+a_s-1, a_1a_2⋯ a_s-1(a_1+a_2+⋯+a_s-1)=b^s has solutions n,b,a_i∈ℤ^+,i=1,2,…,s-1,s≥ 3. By using the theory of elliptic curves, we prove that it has no solutions n,b,a_i∈ℤ^+ for s=3, but for s=4 it has infinitely many solutions n,b,a_i∈ℤ^+ and for s≥ 5 there are infinitely many polynomial solutions n,b,a_i∈ℤ[t_1,t_2,…,t_s-3] with positive value satisfying this Diophantine system.

Abstract:Let $ N $ denote a sufficiently large real number. In this paper, we prove that for $ 1 < c < \frac{104349}{77419} $, $ c\neq\frac{4}{3} $, for almost all real numbers $ T\in(N, 2N] $ (in the sense of Lebesgue measure), the Diophantine inequality $ |p_1^c+p_2^c-T| < T^{-\frac{9}{10c}\left(\frac{104349}{77419}-c\right)} $ is solvable in primes $ p_1, p_2 $. In addition, it is proved that the Diophantine inequality $ |p_1^c+p_2^c+p_3^c+p_4^c-N| < N^{-\frac{9}{10c}\left(\frac{104349}{77419}-c\right)} $ is solvable in primes $ p_1, p_2, p_3, p_4 $. This result constitutes a refinement upon that of Li and Cai.

On a binary Diophantine inequality involving primes of a special type

Abstract:Let $1<c<\frac{1787}{1502}$ and $N$ be a sufficiently large real number. In this paper, it is proved that for any arbitrarily large number $E>0$ and for almost all real $R \in (N,2N]$, the Diophantine inequality $$|p_{1}^{c}+p_{2}^{c}-R|<(log N)^{-E}$$ is solvable in prime variables $p_1,p_2$ such that, each of the numbers $p_{1}+2,p_{2}+2$ has at most $[\frac{79606}{35740-30040c}]$ prime factors, counted with multiplicity. Moreover, we prove that the Diophantine inequality $$|p_{1}^{c}+p_{2}^{c}+p_{3}^{c}+p_{4}^{c}-N|<(log N)^{-E}$$ is solvable in prime variables $p_1,p_2,p_3,p_4$ such that, each of the numbers $p_{i}+2(i=1,2,3,4)$ has at most $[\frac{93801402}{35740000-30040000c}]$ prime factors, counted with multiplicity.

Abstract:Let $d$ be a square-free integer and $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{d}]$ a quadratic ring of integers. For a given $n\in\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{d}]$, a set of $m$ non-zero distinct elements in $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{d}]$ is called a Diophantine $D(n)$-$m$-tuple (or simply $D(n)$-$m$-tuple) in $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{d}]$ if product of any two of them plus $n$ is a square in $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{d}]$. Assume that $d \equiv 2 \pmod 4$ is a positive integer such that $x^2 - dy^2 = -1$ and $x^2 - dy^2 = 6$ are solvable in integers. In this paper, we prove the existence of infinitely many $D(n)$-quadruples in $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{d}]$ for $n = 4m + 4k\sqrt{d}$ with $m, k \in \mathbb{Z}$ satisfying $m \not\equiv 5 \pmod{6}$ and $k \not\equiv 3 \pmod{6}$. Moreover, we prove the same for $n = (4m + 2) + 4k\sqrt{d}$ when either $m \not\equiv 9 \pmod{12}$ and $k \not\equiv 3 \pmod{6}$, or $m \not\equiv 0 \pmod{12}$ and $k \not\equiv 0 \pmod{6}$. At the end, some examples supporting the existence of quadruples in $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{d}]$ with the property $D(n)$ for the above exceptional $n$'s are provided for $d = 10$.

Abstract:Let λ1, λ2,..., λ7 be real numbers satisfying λ i ≥ 1. In this paper, we prove there are integers x 1,..., x 7 such that the inequalities ${\left| {\lambda _{1} x^{3}_{1} + \lambda _{2} x^{3}_{2} + \cdots + \lambda _{7} x^{3}_{7} } \right|} < 1$ and $0 < \sum\nolimits_{i=1}^7 \lambda_i\vert x_i\vert^3 \ll (\lambda_1\lambda_2 \ldots \lambda_7)^{89814}$ hold simultaneously.
A proof of a Dumortier-Roussarie's conjecture

Abstract:Dumortier and Roussarie proposed a conjecture in their paper (2009, Discrete Con. Dyn. Sys., 2,723-781): For any \begin{document}$ q\in {\mathbb{N}} $\end{document} , the Abelian integrals \begin{document}$ J_{2j+1}(h) = \int_{\gamma_h}x^{2j-1}\,\mathrm dy $\end{document} , \begin{document}$ j = 0, 1, 2, \cdots, q $\end{document} , form a strict Chebyshev system on intervals \begin{document}$ h\in (0, \frac{1}{2}] $\end{document} , where \begin{document}$ \gamma_h = \{(x, y)| \mathrm e^{-2y}(y+\frac{1}{2}-x^2) = h\} $\end{document} . If this conjecture holds, then they obtain the precise upper bound of the number of limit cycles that appear near a slow-fast Hopf point of any codimension. In the present paper we develop a method to estimate the number of zeros of Abelian integrals and prove this conjecture.

Abstract:The pentagonal numbers are the integers given by$ p_5(n) = n(3n-1)/2\ (n = 0,1,2,\ldots) $.Let $ (b,c,d) $ be one of the triples $ (1,1,2),(1,2,3),(1,2,6) $ and $ (2,3,4) $.We show that each $ n = 0,1,2,\ldots $ can be written as $ w+bx+cy+dz $ with $ w,x,y,z $ pentagonal numbers, which was first conjectured by Z.-W. Sun in 2016. In particular, any nonnegative integeris a sum of five pentagonal numbers two of which are equal; this refines a classical resultof Cauchy claimed by Fermat.

Abstract:With the help of El Bachraoui's lemma, the creative microscoping method, and a new form of the Chinese remainder theorem for coprime polynomials, we prove a $q$-supercongruence for double series and a $q$-supercongruence for triple series modulo the sixth power of a cyclotomic polynomial. As conclusions, two corresponding supercongruences for double and triple series, which are associated with the (D.2) supercongruence of Van Hamme, are given.

We confirm, by employing the Hardy--Littlewood method, a 2020 conjecture of Ram\'ırez Alfons\'ın and Skałba which states that $$#\left\{p\le g_{c,d}:p\in \mathcal{P}, ~p=cx+dy,~x,y\in \mathbb{Z}_{\geqslant0}\right\}\sim \frac{1}{2}\pi\left(g_{c,d}\right) \quad (\text{as}~c\rightarrow\infty),$$ where $\mathcal{P}$ is the set of primes, $\mathbb{Z}_{\geqslant0}$ is the set of nonnegative integers and $\pi(t)$ denotes the number of primes not exceeding $t$.

Abstract:Let $1<k<7/6$, $\lambda_1,\lambda_2,\lambda_3$ and $\lambda_4$ be non-zero real numbers, not all of the same sign such that $\lambda_1/\lambda_2$ is irrational and let $\omega$ be a real number. We prove that the inequality $|\lambda_1p_1^2+\lambda_2p_2^2+\lambda_3p_3^2+\lambda_4p_4^k-\omega|\le (\max_j p_j)^{-\frac{7-6k}{14k}+\varepsilon}$ has infinitely many solutions in prime variables $p_1,p_2,p_3,p_4$ for any $\varepsilon>0$.

Abstract:The 1-3-5 conjecture of Z.-W. Sun states that any $n\in\mathbb N=\{0,1,2,\ldots\}$ can be written as $x^2+y^2+z^2+w^2$ with $w,x,y,z\in\mathbb N$ such that $x+3y+5z$ is a square. In this paper, via the theory of ternary quadratic forms and related modular forms, we study the integer version of the 1-3-5 conjecture and related weighted sums of four squares with certain linear restrictions. Here are two typical results in this paper: (i) There is a finite set $A$ of positive integers such that any sufficiently large integer not in the set $\{16^ka:\ a\in A,\ k\in\mathbb N\}$ can be written as $x^2+y^2+z^2+w^2$ with $x,y,z,w\in\mathbb Z$ and $x+3y+5z\in\{4^k:\ k\in\mathbb N\}$. (ii) Any positive integer can be written as $x^2+y^2+z^2+2w^2$ with $x,y,z,w\in\mathbb Z$ and $x+y+2z+2w=1$. Also, any sufficiently large integer can be written as $x^2+y^2+z^2+2w^2$ with $x,y,z,w\in\mathbb Z$ and $x+2y+3z=1$.

Abstract:In this paper we present a new method of solving the classical diophantine equation $A^4+B^4=C^4+D^4$. Two methods of solving this equation, given by Euler, yield parametric solutions given by polynomials of degrees 7 and 13. Several other parametric solutions are now known, and with the exception of one solution of degree 11, all the published solutions are of degrees $6n+1$ for some integer $n$. The method described in this paper yields new parametric solutions of degrees 21, 39 and 75, that is, degrees that are expressible as $6n+3$.
