Abstract:Well-defined perovskite MTiO3 (M = Ba, Sr, Ca and Mg) nanostructures were successfully synthesized by a convenient hydrothermal method, employing MCl2 as M source and titanate nanowire as Ti precursor. Different perovskite nanostructures such as nanoring nanobowl, nanotube, and nanodisk were successfully prepared. Two types of growth mechanisms were proposed by investigating the formation processes of MTiO3 nanostructures. The formation of MTiO3 (M = Ba and Sr) undergoes a "nanowire-tube-ring" growth mechanism with a self-sacrifice of titanate nanowire framework rout, whereas the formation of CaTiO3 and MgTiO3 structures follows, a simultaneous epitaxial growth Of TiO2 nanotube on titanate nanowire and self nucleation of MTiO3 (M = Mg and Ca) in the solution initially, and then a conversion of the nanowire and nanotube to MgTiO3/CaTiOa3 nanostructure process. The electrical properties of the perovskite MTiO3 nanostructure including polarization -field hysteresis and capacitance voltage characteristics were also investigated.

Abstract:Pre-perovskite PbTiO3 nanofibres were synthesized by hydrothermal method with four butyl titanate ((C4H9O)4Ti) and lead nitrate (Pb (NO3)) as the main precursors and Tetramethylammonium Hydroxide (TMAH) as mineralizer. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman, Scanning Electronic Microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM (HRTEM), and the corresponding selected area electron diffraction (SEAD) were used to characterize the crystal structure and morphology of the obtained products. The results showed that the nanofibers are of a few to tens micrometer at length size, and 50~300 nm at diameter size. Based on the experimental results, the effect of Tetramethylammonium Hydroxide (TMAH) was simply discussed.

Abstract:Nanotube patterned barium titanate thin films were prepared via hydrothermal method using titania nanotube arrays as a template.It was discussed that hydrothermal temperature,reaction time,the concentration of alkali effected on morphology of the samples.Crystal and micro-morphology were observed by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope;thermal properties and dielectric behaviors of materials were characterized by thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimeter and broadband dielectric spectrometer.The results demonstrated that single-phase structure of nanotube patterned barium titanate thin films could be obtained with the temperature as low as 100℃ after reacting 6h.The longer of reaction time and the higher temperature were helpful to promote the dielectric constant of the samples.Diffusion rates of Ba2+ ions insert into the template was restrained while the growth rates of particles located at the surface of nanotubes were enhanced with the addition of mineralizer KOH.The phenomena of structural transition and phase transition for nanotube patterned barium titanate thin films present at the temperature of 700-1100℃ and 1280℃,respectively.

Abstract:Yttrium hydroxide nanotubes were synthesized by hydrothermal method using Y(NO) 3 •6H 2 O as raw materials. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to analyze the crystal phase and morphology of the as-prepared yttrium hydroxide nanotubes. In this paper, the hydrothermal temperature and the concentration of the mineralization agent were studied to have the effects on the formation of yttrium hydroxide nanotubes and their forming mechanism. The results indicate that the yttrium hydroxide nanotubes are prepared by hydrothermal method with the following optimal conditions: water as a solvent, NaOH concentration is 0.6 mol/L, the reaction temperature is 200°C, and the reaction time is 8h. In the growth process of yttrium hydroxide nanotubes, the hexagonal crystal nucleus of yttrium hydroxide is obtained first because the hexagonal crystal nucleus has the crystallization habit of growing along c axis orientationally. The yttrium hydroxide nanorods are obtained. The surface activating energy of the nanorods is stronger than that in its center. The yttrium hydroxide nanotubes are got finally.

Abstract:Single‐crystalline nanowires of BaTiO3 and SrTiO3 have been synthesized by a hydrothermal method from all‐inorganic, low‐cost raw materials, without a structure‐directing template. The nanowires have a phase‐pure, cubic perovskite structure, with diameters in the range of 50–200 nm and lengths of a few to tens of micrometers. The growth mechanism is also investigated. As we use a simple procedure under mild conditions, scaling the process up for large‐scale production should be very easy.

Synthesis of Sodium Titanate Nanotubes by Microwave Hydrothermal Method

Abstract:The effects of raw material, reaction time, NaOH concentration were studied on the synthesis of sodium titanate nanotubes via a microwave hydrothermal method. Sodium titanate nanotubes with a uniform morphology were synthesized in NaOH solution (8~12mol/L), heated by a microwave power of 195W over 70min. The samples were investigated by means of TEM, XRD, BET, EDAX and N2 adsorption/desorption technique. The nanotubes derived from the microwave hydrothermal method features shortened reaction time and higher thermal stability, with the tube structure collapsed at a temperature over 500℃, 100℃ higher than that synthesized by the ordinary hydrothermal method. Furthermore, the samples after calcination at 300℃ will convert into single crystalline sodium titanate nanotubes.

Abstract:In this paper, Tb(OH)(3) and Y(OH)(3) single-crystalline nanotubes with outer diameters of 30-260 nm, inner diameters of 15-120 nm, and lengths of up to several micrometers were synthesized on a large scale by hydrothermal treatment of the corresponding oxides in the presence of alkali. In addition, Tb4O7 and Y2O3 nanotubes can be obtained by calcination of Tb(OH)3 and Y(OH)(3) nanotubes at 450degreesC. X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), electron diffraction (ED), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), thermogravimetry, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) have been employed to characterize these nanotube materials. The growth mechanism of rare earth hydroxide nanotubes can be explained well by the highly anisotropic crystal structure of rare earth hydroxides. These new types of rare earth compound nanotubes with open ends have uses in a variety of promising applications such as luminescent devices, magnets, catalysts, and other functional materials. Advantages of this method for easily realizing large-scale production include that it is a simple and unique one-pot synthetic process without the need for a catalysts or template, is low cost, has high yield, and the raw materials are readily available. The present study has enlarged the family of nanotubes available, and offers a possible new, general route to one-dimensional single-crystalline nanotubes of other materials.

Abstract:Single-crystalline nanorods and nanowires are grown using a hydrothermal system with the assistance of polymer additives. Tetragonal perovskite PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 nanorods (see Figure) are grown in the presence of poly(vinyl alcohol), while nanowires are formed in the presence of poly(vinyl alcohol) and poly(acrylic acid). The polymers are absorbed on the axial side of the particles, reducing the surface energy and inducing oriented growth.

Abstract:Recently, there has been great demand for patterned perovskite Barium titanate (BT, BaTiO3) in electroceramic device applications. Well ordered BaTiO3 nanotube arrays could be fabricated on the anodized Ti substrates at the hydrothermal condition of 200 degrees C 0.05 M Ba(OH)(2), and 2 hr similar to 7 hr. XRD patterns of as-prepared BaTiO3 nanotube arrays reveal a perovskite structure. Meanwhile, piezoresponse measurements confirm the existence of ferroelectricity of the BaTiO3 nanotube arrays. Moreover, SAED result indicates the high-oriented nature of a single BaTiO3 nanotube.

Abstract:Single-crystal PbTiO3 nanoflakes have been synthesized successfully by a hydrothermal method. The as-prepared powders were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM (HRTEM), and selected area electron diffraction (SAED). It was found that KOH concentration played a key role in the growth of single-crystal tetragonal perovskite PbTiO3 nanoflakes, and the morphology of PbTiO3 crystallites can be controlled by adjusting the KOH concentration.

Abstract:Small sized PbTiO3, CaTiO3 and SrTiO3 nanoparticles have been prepared, respectively, using tetrabutyl titanate and different nitrate as precursors, glucose as addict and KOH as mineralizer via hydrothermal reaction at 200 degrees C for 12 h. Then the pure phase products were obtained after above mentioned products were annealed in air to remove carbon-related impurity respectively. For comparison, PbTiO3, CaTiO3 and SrTiO3 particles were synthesized by a simple hydrothermal without glucose introduction. The resulted six samples have been investigated by XRD to adopt perovskite structure. This method may be applied in many other perovsldte materials which may have a good promising future.

Abstract:A novel, facile modified hydrothermal reaction route to nearly free-standing lead zirconate titanate (PZT) particles is presented. Simple mixing of fresh coprecipitates and mineralizer KOH followed by a hydrothermal treatment at 200 degrees C, produced PZT nanoparticles. Mineralizer KOH plays an important role in the size control and phase formation of PZT nanoparticles. According to TEM, HRTEM, SEAD, and XRD investigations, a KOH concentration of 4 mol L(-1) results in highly crystalline and nearly free-standing PZT nanopartilces in the size regime of about 4 nm. Lower concentration of KOH leads to cubic PZT particle with several micrometers. However, higher concentration should results in amorphous PZT powders and of crystal nuclei with nice thermal stability in the temperature range of room temperature to 1000 degrees C. This simple low-cost approach should promise us a future large-scale synthesis of free-standing PZT nanoparticles for many important applications in nanotechnology and for the fundamental studies of nanoscale ferroelectricity and the experimental demonstration of the existence of the vortex structure phase in a controlled manner.

Abstract:Titanium oxide nanotubes were prepared by hydrothermal treatment of rutile titania powders in strong NaOH aqueous solution at 130 degrees C for 36 hours. These nanotubes were used as Ti precursors to synthesize barium strontium titanate nanoparticles by reaction with Ba(OH)(2) and Sr(OH)(2) at 180 degrees C in hydrothermal conditions. The structure, composition and morphology of the obtained nanoparticles were characterized using transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. It is interesting to find that the morphology depends on (Ba + Sr)/Ti ratios. A strong photoluminescence centered at 575 nm was observed in these barium strontium titanate nanoparticles.

Abstract:The Bi4Ti3O12 nanocrystals were synthesized by a hydrothermal method, and NaOH was used as a pH-adjusting agent. The effect of reaction temperature on formation and morphologies of Bi4Ti3O12 nanocrystals was investigated. The single-phase Bi4Ti3O12 nanocrystals were prepared at 140–220 °C. As the Bi4Ti3O12 nanocrystals were synthesized at 140 °C, it consisted of the fine grains with 10–30 nm grain size. With increasing the reaction temperature, the flake-like Bi4Ti3O12 grains were formed and grew up. At high reaction temperatures (200–220 °C), they mainly consisted of the flake-like grains.

Abstract:The single-crystalline BaTi5O11 nanocrystals were synthesized by a hydrothermal method. The Barium acetate (Ba(CH3COO)(2)) and tetrabutyl titanate (Ti(C4H9O)(4)) were used as the starting materials, and the NaOH was used as a pH-adjusting agent. In the aqueous precursor, the NaOH concentration was 2.0 mol/L, and the concentrations of Ba2+ and Ti4+ ions were 0.01 and 0.09 mol/L, respectively. As the precursor was heated at 280 degrees C for 20 h by the hydrothermal method, the white precipitate was formed. The white precipitate was confirmed to be the elongated BaTi5O11 nanocrystals. The single-phase BaTi5O11 nanocrystals were successfully synthesized. (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Single-crystalline tetragonal perovskite lead titanate (PbTiO3) nanosheets with dominant (001) facets have been successfully synthesized by employing layered K2Ti6O13 nanofibers as titanium sources. The as-prepared PbTiO3 nanosheets were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM, and selected-area electron diffraction. In order to understand the formation mechanism of the PbTiO3 nanosheets, a series of time-dependent experiments were performed. Because of the substitution of Pb(2+) ions for K(+) ions, the TiO6 octahedral lamellas exfoliate from the layered K2Ti6O13 crystal structure. Then the exfoliated TiO6 octahedral lamellas as templates transform to lamellar PbTiO3 species by reacting with the dehydrated Pb(2+) ions. With hydrothermal treatment prolongation, the lamellar PbTiO3 species crystallize to single-crystalline PbTiO3 nanosheets. Moreover, the thickness of the synthesized single-crystalline PbTiO3 nanosheets can be tailored in the range of 10-50 nm by controlling the hydrothermal treatment time. In addition, the band gap and the optoelectronic properties of the single-crystalline PbTiO3 nanosheets are investigated by UV-vis absorption and photoluminescence.
Synthesis of Single-Crystalline Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O-3 Nanocrystals by Hydrothermal Method

Abstract:Abstract PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 nanocrystals were synthesized by a hydrothermal method. The effect of NaOH concentration, reaction temperature and time on nucleation and growth of PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 nanocrystals was investigated. As the 0.05 mol/L PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 precursors were heated at 200 °C for 21 h with NaOH concentration of 0.5 mol/L, the tetragonal PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 nanocrystals were formed, and the grain size was more than 20 nm. With increasing the NaOH concentration from 0.5 to 1.5 mol/L, the grain size of PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 nanocrystals decreased. When the precursors were heated at different temperatures (140 °C to 200 °C) for 21 h with 1.0 mol/L NaOH, single-phase PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 nanocrystals were obtained at 160 °C to 200 °C. With increasing the reaction temperature from 160 °C to 200 °C, the grains size of PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 nanocrystals increased from 5 nm to 9 nm. When the precursors were heated at 160 °C in different reaction times from 6 h to 21 h, the evolution from amorphous to crystalline PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 nanocrystals in correlation with the reaction time was observed. Single crystalline PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 nanocrystals with narrow size distribution (from 5 nm to 9 nm) were synthesized by controlling the NaOH concentration, reaction temperature and time. The obtained results can find potential application in preparing PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 thin films on flexible substrates.

Abstract:Lead titanate nanostructures with different phases and morphologies, layered hexagonal PbTiO2(CO3)(0.3)- (NO3)(0.35)(OH) nanosheets, pyrochlore Pb2Ti2O6 nanodendites, pre-perovskite PbTiO3 nanofibres and perovskite PbTiO3 nanoplates, have been synthesized via a conventional hydrothermal route assisted with different concentrations of tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH). X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and high-resolution TEM (HRTEM) were employed to characterize the phase, morphology and growth behavior of the synthesized samples. The results reveal that at low TMAH concentration the obtained samples are mainly of PbTiO2(CO3)(0.3)(NO3)(0.35)(OH) nanosheets. With the TMAH concentration increasing, the obtained samples change to pyrochlore Pb2Ti2O6 nanodendites, pre-perovskite PbTiO3 nanofibres and perovskite PbTiO3 nanoplates in turn. With the basis of the experimental results, the phase- and morphology-evolution mechanism of the lead titanate nanostructures is discussed by combining the analysis of the lattice structure feature and the properties of TMAH.

Abstract:We synthesized sodium titanate nanotubes and nanowires using TiB2 and TIN as the starting materials, respectively in a hydrothermal process. The experimental results indicate that the reaction temperature influences the morphology of the product significantly. The nanowires were formed above 170 degrees C. Nanotubes were obtained below 140 degrees C. The synthesized nanotubes exhibit a crystallized multi-wall structure. The inner diameter was found to be ca. 5 nm. The diameter of the nanowires was found to be ca. 50 nm. The characteristic lengths was in the order of tens micrometers.

Abstract:This paper reports a wet chemical synthesis technique for large-scale fabrication of perovskite barium strontium titanate nano-particles near room temperature and under ambient pressure. The process employs titanium alkoxide and alkali earth hydroxides as starting materials and involves very simple operation steps. Particle size and crystallinity of the particles are controllable by changing the processing parameters. Observations by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy TEM indicate that the particles are well-crystallized, chemically stoichiometric and ∼50nm in diameter. The nanoparticles can be sintered into ceramics at 1150°C and show typical ferroelectric hysteresis loops.
