Abstract:In this paper, we study normality and metrizability of Wijsman hyperspaces. We show that every hereditarily normal Wijsman hyperspace is metrizable. This provides a partially answer to a problem of Di Maio and Meccariello in 1998.

That is, for any complex normed space Y and every surjective mapping satisfying where is the unit circle of the complex plane, there exists a function such that is a linear or anti-linear isometry. Abstract:For a space $X$, let $(CL(X), \tau_V)$, $(CL(X), \tau_{locfin})$ and $(CL(X), \tau_F)$ be the set $CL(X)$ of all nonempty closed subsets of $X$ which are endowed with Vietoris topology, locally finite topology and Fell topology respectively. We prove that $(CL(X), \tau_V)$ is quasi-metrizable if and only if $X$ is a separable metrizable space and the set of all non-isolated points of $X$ is compact, $(CL(X), \tau_{locfin})$ is quasi-metrizable or symmetrizable if and only if $X$ is metrizable and the set of all non-isolated points of $X$ is compact, and $(CL(X), \tau_F)$ is quasi-metrizable if and only if $X$ is hemicompact and metrizable. As an application, we give a negative answer to a Conjecture in \cite{LL2022}.

Abstract:We consider the relationship between normality and semi-proximality. We give a consistent example of a first countable locally compact Dowker space that is not semi-proximal, and two ZFC examples of semi-proximal non-normal spaces. This answers a question of Nyikos. One of the examples is a subspace of $(\omega+1) \times \omega_1$. In contrast, we show that every normal subspace of a finite power of $\omega_1$ is semi-proximal.

Abstract:Wiener spaces are in many ways the decisive setting for fundamental results on Gaussian measures: large deviations (Schilder), quasi-invariance (Cameron-Martin), differential calculus (Malliavin), support description (Stroock-Varadhan), concentration of measure (Fernique), ... Analogues of these classical results have been derived in the "enhanced" context of Gaussian rough paths and, more recently, regularity structures equipped with Gaussian models. The aim of this article is to propose a notion of "abstract Wiener model space" that encompasses the aforementioned. More specifically, we focus here on enhanced Schilder type results, Cameron-Martin shifts and Fernique estimates, offering a somewhat unified view on results in Friz-Victoir 2007 and Hairer-Weber 2015.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the Weyl problem in warped product spaces. We apply the method of continuity and prove the openness of the Weyl problem. A counterexample is constructed to show that the isometric embedding of the sphere with canonical metric is not unique up to an isometry if the ambient warped product space is not a space form. Then, we study the rigidity of the standard sphere if we fixed its geometric center in the ambient space. Finally, we discuss a Shi-Tam type of inequality for the Schwarzschild manifold as an application of our findings.
Topological and metric properties of spaces of generalized persistence diagrams

Abstract:Motivated by persistent homology and topological data analysis, we consider formal sums on a metric space with a distinguished subset. These formal sums, which we call persistence diagrams, have a canonical 1-parameter family of metrics called Wasserstein distances. We study the topological and metric properties of these spaces. Some of our results are new even in the case of persistence diagrams on the half-plane. Under mild conditions, no persistence diagram has a compact neighborhood. If the underlying metric space is $\sigma$-compact then so is the space of persistence diagrams. However, under mild conditions, the space of persistence diagrams is not hemicompact and the space of functions from this space to a topological space is not metrizable. Spaces of persistence diagrams inherit completeness and separability from the underlying metric space. Some spaces of persistence diagrams inherit being path connected, being a length space, and being a geodesic space, but others do not. We give criteria for a set of persistence diagrams to be totally bounded and relatively compact. We also study the curvature and dimension of spaces of persistence diagrams and their embeddability into a Hilbert space. As an important technical step, which is of independent interest, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of optimal matchings of persistence diagrams.

Abstract:In this paper, we shall prove that Axiom A maps are dense in the space of C 2 interval maps (endowed with the C 2 topology). As a step of the proof, we shall prove real and complex a priori bounds for (first return maps to certain small neighborhoods of the critical points of) real analytic multimodal interval maps with non-degenerate critical points. We shall also discuss rigidity for interval maps without large bounds.
Minimal Submanifolds and Waists of Locally Symmetric Spaces

Abstract:We study the higher expansion properties of locally symmetric spaces, with a particular focus on octonionic hyperbolic manifolds. We show that codimension two minimal submanifolds of compact octonionic locally symmetric spaces must have large volume, at least linear in the volume of the ambient space. As a corollary we prove linear waist inequalities for octonionic hyperbolic manifolds in codimension two and construct the first locally symmetric examples of power-law systolic freedom. We also show that any codimension two submanifold of small volume can be homotoped to a lower dimensional set. We use this to prove that branched covers of octonionic hyperbolic manifolds are stable in the sense of Dinur-Meshulam and to establish a uniform lower bound on the non-abelian Cheeger constants of octonionic hyperbolic manifolds. In a more general setting, we prove that maps from locally symmetric spaces to low dimensional euclidean spaces admit fibers whose fundamental group has large exponent of growth. We show as a consequence that cocompact lattices in $SL_n(\mathbb{R})$ have property $ FA_{\lfloor n/8\rfloor-1}$: any action on a contractible $CAT(0)$ simplicial complex of dimension at most $ \lfloor n/8\rfloor -1$ has a global fixed point.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of (hybrid) large scale normal space and prove coarse geometric analogues of Urysohn's Lemma and the Tietze Extension Theorem for these spaces, where continuous maps are replaced by (continuous and) slowly oscillating maps. To do so, we first prove a general form of each of these results in the context of a set equipped with a neighbourhood operator satisfying certain axioms, from which we obtain both the classical topological results and the (hybrid) large scale results as corollaries. We prove that all metric spaces are hybrid large scale normal, and characterize those locally compact abelian groups which (as hybrid large scale spaces) are hybrid large scale normal. Finally, we look at some properties of the Higson compactifications and coronas of hybrid large scale normal spaces.

Essential normality of quotient submodules over strongly pseudoconvex finite manifolds

Abstract:We investigate the $p$-essential normality of Hilbert quotient submodules on a relatively compact smooth strongly pseudoconvex domain in a complex manifold satisfying Property (S). For analytic subvarieties that have compact singularities and transversely intersect the strongly pseudoconvex boundary, we prove that the corresponding Bergman-Sobolev quotient submodules are $p$-essentially normal whenever $p$ exceeds the dimension of the noncompact part of the analytic subvarieties. As a consequence, we partially confirm the geometric Arveson-Douglas Conjecture and resolve an open problem regarding the trace-class antisymmetric sum of truncated Toeplitz operators within a broader context. Moreover, we provide applications in $K$-homology and geometric invariant theory.

Abstract:For two not necessarily commutative topological groups G and T, let H(G,T) denote the space of all continuous homomorphisms from G to T with the compact-open topology. We prove that if G is metrizable and T is compact then H(G,T) is a k-space. As a consequence we obtain that if G_1 is a dense subgroup of G then H(G_1,T) is homeomorphic to H(G,T), and if G is separable h-complete, then the natural map G --> C(H(G,T),T) is open onto its image.

Abstract:We prove optimal transport stability (in the sense of Andreasson and the second author) for reflexive Weyl polytopes: reflexive polytopes which are convex hulls of an orbit of a Weyl group. When the reflexive Weyl polytope is Delzant, it follows from work of Li, Andreasson, Hultgren, Jonsson, Mazzon, McCleerey, that the weak metric SYZ conjecture holds for the Dwork family in the corresponding toric Fano manifold. In particular, we show that the weak metric SYZ conjecture holds for centrally symmetric smooth Fano toric manifolds.

Abstract:Asymptotic normality for the natural volume measure of random polytopes generated by random points distributed uniformly in a convex body in spherical or hyperbolic spaces is proved. Also the case of Hilbert geometries is treated and central limit theorems in Lutwak's dual Brunn--Minkowski theory are established. The results follow from a central limit theorem for weighted random polytopes in Euclidean spaces. In the background are Stein's method for normal approximation and geometric properties of weighted floating bodies.

Abstract:We prove a normal form theorem for principal Hamiltonian actions on Poisson manifolds around the zero locus of the moment map. The local model is the generalization to Poisson geometry of the classical minimal coupling construction from symplectic geometry of Sternberg and Weinstein. Further, we show that the result implies that the quotient Poisson manifold is linearizable, and we show how to extend the normal form to other values of the moment map.

Abstract:As a generalization of Hausdorff's extension theorem of metrics, we prove an interpolation theorem of a family of metrics defined on closed subsets of metrizable spaces. As an application, we investigate typicality of subsets of moduli spaces of metrics. We observe that various sets of all metrics with properties appearing in metric geometry are dense intersections of countable open subsets in spaces of metrics on metrizable spaces. For instance, our study is applicable to the set of all non-doubling metrics and the set of all non-uniformly disconnected metrics.
