Abstract:The paper is devoted to calculating the higher Schur-multiplicator of certain classes of groups with respect to the variety of nilpotent groups. Our results somehow generalize the works of M.R.R. Moghaddam (1979), and N.D. Gupta and M.R.R. Moghaddam (1993).

Abstract:The Bogomolov multiplier of a group is the unramified Brauer group associated to the quotient variety of a faithful representation of the group. This object is an obstruction for the quotient variety to be stably rational. The purpose of this paper is to study these multipliers associated to nilpotent pro-$p$ groups by transporting them to their associated Lie algebras. Special focus is set on the case of $p$-adic Lie groups of nilpotency class $2$, where we analyse the moduli space. This is then applied to give information on asymptotic behaviour of multipliers of finite images of such groups of exponent $p$. We show that with fixed $n$ and increasing $p$, a positive proportion of these groups of order $p^n$ have trivial multipliers. On the other hand, we show that by fixing $p$ and increasing $n$, log-generic groups of order $p^n$ have non-trivial multipliers. Whence quotient varieties of faithful representations of log-generic $p$-groups are not stably rational. Applications in non-commutative Iwasawa theory are developed.

Abstract:We describe an algorithm for computing successive quotients of the Schur multiplier $M(G)$ for a group $G$ given by an invariant finite $L$-presentation. As application, we investigate the Schur multipliers of various self-similar groups such as the Grigorchuk super-group, the generalized Fabrykowski-Gupta groups, the Basilica group and the Brunner-Sidki-Vieira group.

Abstract:We obtain sharp bounds for the size of the Schur multiplier of finite groups, which improves all existing bounds. Moreover, we also obtain sharp bounds for the second cohomology group $H^2(G,\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z})$ of a $p$-group with coefficients in $\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z}.$

Abstract:There has been a great importance in understanding the nilpotent multipliers of finite groups in recent past. Let a group G be presented as the quotient of a free group F by a normal subgroup R . Given a positive integer c , the c -nilpotent multiplier of the group G is the abelian group M(c)(G)=(R∩γc+1(F))/γc+1(R,F) . In particular, M(1)(G) is the Schur multiplier of G . The study of Schur multiplier of finite metacyclic groups goes back to the paper by F. R. Beyl in 1973. In this article, we study the 2-nilpotent multiplier of finite split metacyclic groups.

Abstract:The complete classification of 2-generator p -groups of class 2 has been achieved by Ahmad et al. (2012). The various homological functors of these groups, such as the nonabelian tensor square, the nonabelian exterior square and the Schur multiplier, are computed in recent past by Bacon and Kappe (1993), Kappe et al. (1999), and Magidin and Morse (2010). It is also specified which of these groups are capable and which are unicentral. As a generalized topic, the study of nilpotent multiplier of groups is motivated by its application in the isologism theory of P. Hall (1940). Another important reason to study them is that, determining the structure of nilpotent multiplier of groups is essential in studying generalized capability and covering groups, and would be generally useful in developing such a framework. In this paper, we give a complete description of the 2-nilpotent multiplier of 2-generator p -groups of class 2 as well as their triple tensor product and triple exterior product. In addition, we determine which of these groups are 2-capable.

Abstract:In this paper, we determine the structure of the nilpotent multipliers of all pairs $(G,N)$ of finitely generated abelian groups where $N$ admits a complement in $G$. Moreover, some inequalities for the nilpotent multipliers of pairs of finite groups and their factor groups are given.

Abstract:Let $L$ be an $(m\vert n)$-dimensional nilpotent Lie superalgebra where $m + n \geq 4$ and $n \geq 1$. This paper classifies such nilpotent Lie superalgebras $L$ with a derived subsuperalgebra of dimension $m+n-2$ such that $\gamma(L) = m + 2n - 2 - \dim \mathcal{M}(L)$, where $\gamma(L) \in \{0, 1, 2\}$ and $\mathcal{M}(L)$ denotes the Schur multiplier of $L$. Furthermore, we show that all these superalgebras are capable.

Abstract:Let G be one of the classical Lie groups GL(n+1)(R), GL(n+1)(C), U(p, q + 1), O(p, q + 1), On+1(C), SO(p, q + 1), SOn+1(C), and let G' be respectively the subgroup GL(n)(R), GL(n)(C), U(p, q), O(p, q), O-n(C), SO(p, q), SO (C), embedded in G in the standard way. We show that every irreducible Casselman-Wallach representation of G' occurs with multiplicity at most one in every irreducible Casselman-Wallach representation of G. Abstract:We categorize all non-abelian nilpotent Lie superalgebras of dimension $(m|n)$, where $1\leq s(L)\leq 10$, and $s(L)$ is a non-negative integer defined by Nayak. Furthermore, we classify the structure of all Lie superalgebras of dimension at most five such that $\dim{L^2}=\dim\mathcal{M}(L)$.

Abstract:Let $\Gamma$ be a countable discrete group. Given any sequence $(f_n)_{n\geq 1}$ of $\ell^p$-normalized functions ($p\in [1,2)$), consider the associated positive definite matrix coefficients $\langle f_n, \rho(\cdot) f_n\rangle$ of the right regular representation $\rho$. We construct an orthogonal decomposition of the corresponding {\it Schur multipliers} on the reduced group $C^*$-algebra or the uniform Roe algebra of $\Gamma$. We identify this decomposition explicitly via the limit points of the orbits $(\widetilde f_n)_{n\geq 1}$ in the group-invariant compactification of the quotient space constructed by Varadhan and the first author in [14]. We apply this result and use positive-definiteness to provide two (quite different) characterizations of amenability of $\Gamma$ -- one via a variational approach and the other using group-invariant percolation on Cayley graphs constructed by Benjamini, Lyons, Peres and Schramm [1]. These results underline, from a new point of view to the best of our knowledge, the manner in which Schur multipliers capture geometric properties of the underlying group $\Gamma$.

Abstract:Let $G$ be the semidirect product $N \rtimes \mathbb{R}$, where $N$ is a stratified Lie group and $\mathbb{R}$ acts on $N$ via automorphic dilations. Homogeneous left-invariant sub-Laplacians on $N$ and $\mathbb{R}$ can be lifted to $G$, and their sum $\Delta$ is a left-invariant sub-Laplacian on $G$. In previous joint work of Ottazzi, Vallarino and the first-named author, a spectral multiplier theorem of Mihlin--Hörmander type was proved for $\Delta$, showing that an operator of the form $F(\Delta)$ is of weak type $(1,1)$ and bounded on $L^p(G)$ for all $p \in (1,\infty)$ provided $F$ satisfies a scale-invariant smoothness condition of order $s > (Q+1)/2$, where $Q$ is the homogeneous dimension of $N$. Here we show that, if $N$ is a group of Heisenberg type, or more generally a direct product of Métivier and abelian groups, then the smoothness condition can be pushed down to the sharp threshold $s>(d+1)/2$, where $d$ is the topological dimension of $N$. The proof is based on lifting to $G$ weighted Plancherel estimates on $N$ and exploits a relation between the functional calculi for $\Delta$ and analogous operators on semidirect extensions of Bessel--Kingman hypergroups.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{P}$ be a countable multiset of primes and let $G=\bigoplus_{p\in P}\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z}$. We study the universal characteristic factors associated with the Gowers-Host-Kra seminorms for the group $G$. We show that the universal characteristic factor of order $<k+1$ is a factor of an inverse limit of finite dimensional $k$-step nilpotent homogeneous spaces. The latter is a counterpart of a $k$-step nilsystem where the homogeneous group is not necessarily a Lie group. This result provides a counterpart of the structure theorem of Host-Kra and Ziegler concerning $\mathbb{Z}$-actions and generalizes the results of Bergelson Tao and Ziegler concerning $\mathbb{F}_p^\omega$-actions. This result is the first instance of a structure theorem for the universal characteristic factors associated with a non-finitely generated group of unbounded torsion. As an application we derive an alternative proof for the $L^2$-convergence of multiple ergodic averages associated with $k$-term arithmetic progressions in $G$ and derive a formula for the limit in the special case where the underlying space is a nilpotent homogeneous system.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to show that fundamental concepts in higher-order Fourier analysis can be nauturally extended to the non-commutative setting. We generalize Gowers norms to arbitrary compact non-commutative groups. On the structural side, we show that nilspace theory (the algebraic part of higher-order Fourier analysis) can be naturally extended to include all non-commutative groups. To this end, we introduce generalized nilspaces called "groupspaces" and demonstrate that they possess properties very similar to nilspaces. We study $k$-th order generalizations of groups that are special groupspaces called {\it k-step} groupspaces. One step groupspaces are groups. We show that $k$-step groupspaces admit the structure of an iterated principal bundle with structure groups $G_1,G_2,\dots,G_k$. A similar, but somewhat more technical statement holds for general groupspaces, with possibly infinitely many structure groups. Structure groups of groupspaces are in some sense analogous to higher homotopy groups. In particular we use a version of the Eckmann-Hilton argument from homotopy theory to show that $G_i$ is abelian for $i\geq 2$. Groupspaces also show some similarities with $n$-groups from higher category theory (also used in physics) but the exact relationship between these concepts is a subject of future research.

Abstract:In this paper we compare various classes of Schur multipliers: classical matrix Schur multipliers, discrete Schur multipliers, Schur multipliers with respect to measures and Schur multipliers with respect to spectral measures. The main result says that in the case of Schur multipliers with respect to measures and spectral measures such Schur multipliers coincide isometrically with the Haagerup tensor products of the corresponding $L^\infty$ spaces. We deduce this result from a well known analogue of it for discrete Schur multipliers.

Abstract:The concept of multiplication $(m,n)$-hypermodules was introduced by Ameri and Norouzi in \cite{sorc2}. Here we intend to investigate extensively the multiplication $(m,n)$-hypermodules. Let $(M,f,g)$ be a $(m,n)$-hypermodule (with canonical $(m,n)$-hypergroups) over a commutative Krasner $(m,n)$-hyperring $(R,h,k)$. A $(m, n)$-hypermodule $(M, f, g)$ over $(R, h, k)$ is called a multiplication $(m, n)$-hypermodule if for each subhypermodule $N$ of $M$, there exists a hyperideal $I$ of $R$ such that $N =g(I, 1^{(n-2)}, M)$.

Abstract:For a finite group $G$ and an element $x\in G$, the subset $$ nil_G(x)=\{y\in G \mid <x,y>~~ is ~~ nilpotent\}$$ is called nilpotentizer of $x$ in $G$. In this paper, we give two solvabilty criteria for a finite group by the structure and the size of nilpotentizer of an element on finite group. In fact, we show that if there exists an element $x$ of $G$ such that $nil_G(x)$ generates a maximal subgroup of $G$ and the simple commutator of weight $2 ~~or ~~3$ of elements of $nil_G(x)$ is equal to $1$ or $|nil_G(x)|= p^n$, where $p$ is prime and $n=1, 2$. Then $G$ is a solvable group.
