Abstract:We prove an extension of the Quillen Theorem Bn for homotopy fibres to a similar result for homotopy pullbacks and use this to obtain sufficient conditions on a pullback diagram of categories to guarantee that it be a homotopy pullback.

Abstract:The Quillen-McCord theorem (aka Quillen fiber lemma) gives a sufficient condition on a map between classifying spaces of posetal categories to be a homotopy equivalence. Jonathan Ariel Barmak in his paper [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1005.0538" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1005.0538">arXiv:1005.0538</a>] gives an elementary topological proof and proves a homological version of the theorem. Following his scheme of the proof, we formulate and prove the homological Quillen-McCord theorem, stable with respect to interleaving distances. To formulate the theorem and apply the scheme, we introduce persistence objects as objects in appropriate functor categories, describe a-la barcode decompositions of persistence posets, and prove several results, e.g. order extension principle for objects in Fun(I, Pos) and approximate triviality of left derived functors of approximately trivial objects in Fun(I, R-Mod).

Abstract:In this work, we introduce topological representations of a quiver as a system consisting of topological spaces and its relationships determined by the quiver. Such a setting gives a natural connection between topological representations of a quiver and diagrams of topological spaces. Firstly, we investigate the relation between the category of topological representations and that of linear representations of a quiver via P( ) - 𝒯𝒪𝒫^o and k -Mod, concerning (positively) graded or vertex (positively) graded modules. Secondly, we discuss the homological theory of topological representations of quivers via the -limit functor lim ^ , and use it to define the homology groups of topological representations of quivers via H _n . It is found that some properties of a quiver can be read from homology groups. Thirdly, we investigate the homotopy theory of topological representations of quivers. We define the homotopy equivalence between two morphisms in Top- Rep and show that the parallel Homotopy Axiom also holds for top-representations based on the homotopy equivalence. Last, we obtain the functor At^ from Top- Rep to Top and show that At^ preserves homotopy equivalence between morphisms. The relationship between the homotopy groups of a top-representation (T, f) and the homotopy groups of At^(T,f) is also established.

Abstract:Generalizing a definition of homotopy fiber products of model categories, we give a definition of the homotopy limit of a diagram of left Quillen functors between model categories. As has been previously shown for homotopy fiber products, we prove that such a homotopy limit does in fact correspond to the usual homotopy limit, when we work in a more general model for homotopy theories in which they can be regarded as objects of a model category.

Abstract:The definition of the homotopy limit of a diagram of left Quillen functors of model categories has been useful in a number of applications. In this paper we review its definition and summarize some of these applications. We conclude with a discussion of why we could work with right Quillen functors instead, but cannot work with a combination of the two.

Abstract:This note extends Quillen's Theorem A to a large class of categories internal to topological spaces. This allows us to show that under a mild condition a fully faithful and essentially surjective functor between such topological categories induces a homotopy equivalence of classifying spaces. It follows from this that we can associate a 2-functorial homotopy type to a wide class of topological stacks of categories, taking values in the 2-category of spaces, continuous maps and homotopy classes of homotopies of maps. This generalises work of Noohi and Ebert on the homotopy types of topological stacks of groupoids under the restriction to the site with numerable open covers.

Abstract:In this short note we show that the homotopy category of smooth compactifications of smooth algebraic varieties is equivalent to the homotopy category of smooth varieties over a field of characteristic zero. As an application we show that the functor sending a variety to the p-th step of the Hodge filtration of its complex cohomology is representable in the homotopy category of simplicial presheaves on smooth complex varieties. The main motivation are recent applications of homotopy theory to Deligne-Beilinson cohomology theories.

Abstract:We work out the details of a correspondence observed by Goodwillie between cosimplicial spaces and good functors from a category of open subsets of the interval to the category of compactly generated weak Hausdorff spaces. Using this, we compute the first page of the integral Bousfield--Kan homotopy spectral sequence of the tower of fibrations given by the Taylor tower of the embedding functor associated to the space of long knots. Based on the methods in [Con08], we give a combinatorial interpretation of the differentials $d^1$ mapping into the diagonal terms, by introducing the notion of $(i, n)$-marked unitrivalent graphs.

Abstract:Building on work of Marta Bunge in the one-categorical case, we characterize when a given model category is Quillen equivalent to a presheaf category with the projective model structure. This involves introducing a notion of homotopy atoms, generalizing the orbits of Dwyer and Kan. Apart from the orbit model structures of Dwyer and Kan, our examples include the classification of stable model categories after Schwede and Shipley, isovariant homotopy theory after Yeakel, and Cat-enriched homotopy theory after Gu. The most surprising example is the classical category of spectra, which turns out to be equivalent to the presheaf category of pointed simplicial sets indexed by the desuspensions of the sphere spectrum. No Bousfield localization is needed. As an application, we give a classification of polynomial functors (the sense of Goodwillie calculus) from finite pointed simplicial sets to spectra, and compare it to the previous work by Arone and Ching.

Abstract:We give new homotopy theoretic criteria for deciding when a fibration with homotopy finite fibers admits a reduction to a fiber bundle with compact topological manifold fibers. The criteria lead to a new and unexpected result about homeomorphism groups of manifolds. A tool used in the proof is a surjective splitting of the assembly map for Waldhausen's functor A(X). We also give concrete examples of fibrations having a reduction to a fiber bundle with compact topological manifold fibers but which fail to admit a compact fiber smoothing. The examples are detected by algebraic K-theory invariants. We consider a refinement of the Becker-Gottlieb transfer. We show that a version of the axioms described by Becker and Schultz uniquely determines the refined transfer for the class of fibrations admitting a reduction to a fiber bundle with compact topological manifold fibers. In an appendix, we sketch a theory of characteristic classes for fibrations. The classes are primary obstructions to finding a compact fiber smoothing.

Abstract: We quiver-interpret the classical simplicial theory - including the cosimplex category $\Delta$, Dold-Kan correspondence, and Hochschild homology - as a certain Q-homotopy theory of type $A$. For the cyclic and cubical theories, we proceed analogously. Subsequently, we present far-reaching generalizations, using different types of quivers. Moreover, we explain how to construct certain categories as analogs of $\Delta$, and associate to each a Q-homotopy theory. We provide many examples, including such theories of type $D$.

Homotopy cofinality for Non-Abelian homology of group diagrams

Abstract:We prove that a homotopy cofinal functor between small categories induces a weak equivalence between homotopy colimits of pointed simplicial sets. This is used to prove that the non-Abelian homology of a group diagram is isomorphic to the homology of its inverse image under a homotopy cofinal functor. This also made it possible to establish that the non-Abelian homology of group diagrams are invariant under the left Kan extension along virtual discrete cofibrations. With the help of these results, we have constructed a non-Abelian Gabriel-Zisman homology theory for simplicial sets with coefficients in group diagrams. Moreover, we have generalized this theory to presheaves over an arbitrary small category, which play the role of simplicial sets. Sufficient conditions are found for the isomorphism of non-Abelian homology of presheaves over a small category with coefficients in group diagrams. It is proved that the non-Abelian homology of the factorization category for the small category is isomorphic to the Baues-Wirsching homology. A condition is found under which a functor between small categories induces an isomorphism of non-Abelian Baues-Wirsching homology.

Abstract:We prove a homology vanishing theorem for graphs with positive Bakry-' Emery curvature, analogous to a classic result of Bochner on manifolds [3]. Specifically, we prove that if a graph has positive curvature at every vertex, then its first homology group is trivial, where the notion of homology that we use for graphs is the path homology developed by Grigor'yan, Lin, Muranov, and Yau [11]. We moreover prove that the fundamental group is finite for graphs with positive Bakry-' Emery curvature, analogous to a classic result of Myers on manifolds [22]. The proofs draw on several separate areas of graph theory, including graph coverings, gain graphs, and cycle spaces, in addition to the Bakry-Emery curvature, path homology, and graph homotopy. The main results follow as a consequence of several different relationships developed among these different areas. Specifically, we show that a graph with positive curvature cannot have a non-trivial infinite cover preserving 3-cycles and 4-cycles, and give a combinatorial interpretation of the first path homology in terms of the cycle space of a graph. Furthermore, we relate gain graphs to graph homotopy and the fundamental group developed by Grigor'yan, Lin, Muranov, and Yau [12], and obtain an alternative proof of their result that the abelianization of the fundamental group of a graph is isomorphic to the first path homology over the integers.
Sheaves of Higher Categories on Generalised Spaces

Abstract:We study the homotopy right Kan extension of homotopy sheaves on a category to its free cocompletion, i.e. to its category of presheaves. Any pretopology on the original category induces a canonical pretopology of generalised coverings on the free cocompletion. We show that with respect to these pretopologies the homotopy right Kan extension along the Yoneda embedding preserves homotopy sheaves valued in (sufficiently nice) simplicial model categories. Moreover, we show that this induces an equivalence between sheaves of spaces on the original category and colimit-preserving sheaves of spaces on its free cocompletion. We present three applications in geometry and topology: first, we prove that diffeological vector bundles descend along subductions of diffeological spaces. Second, we deduce that various flavours of bundle gerbes with connection satisfy $(\infty,2)$-categorical descent. Finally, we investigate smooth diffeomorphism actions in smooth bordism-type field theories on a manifold. We show how these smooth actions allow us to extract the values of a field theory on any object coherently from its values on generating objects of the bordism category.

Quillen cohomology of enriched operads

Abstract:A modern insight due to Quillen, which is further developed by Lurie, asserts that many cohomology theories of interest are particular cases of a single construction, which allows one to define cohomology groups in an abstract setting using only intrinsic properties of the category (or $\infty$-category) at hand. This universal cohomology theory is known as Quillen cohomology. In any setting, Quillen cohomology of a given object is classified by its cotangent complex. The main purpose of this paper is to study Quillen cohomology of operads enriched over a general base category. Our main result provides an explicit formula for computing Quillen cohomology of enriched operads, based on a procedure of taking certain infinitesimal models of their cotangent complexes. Furthermore, we propose a natural construction of the twisted arrow $\infty$-categories of simplicial operads. We then assert that the cotangent complex of a simplicial operad can be represented as a spectrum valued functor on its twisted arrow $\infty$-category. When working in stable base categories such as chain complexes and spectra, Francis and Lurie proved the existence of a fiber sequence relating the cotangent complex and Hochschild complex of an $E_n$-algebra, from which a conjecture of Kontsevich is verified. We prove the existence of an analogue for the operad $E_n$ itself, in the framework of topological setting.

Abstract:In this article, we extend results of J. Leray and B. Vallette on homotopical properties of pre-Calabi-Yau algebras to the case of pre-Calabi-Yau categories. We give direct proofs of the results adapting techniques used by D. Petersen for the case of coalgebras, instead of using properadic calculus. More precisely, we prove that given quasi-isomorphic dg quivers and a pre-Calabi-Yau structure on one of them there exists a pre-Calabi-Yau structure on the other as well as a pre-Calabi-Yau morphism between the two. Moreover, we show that a pre-Calabi-Yau morphism whose first component is an isomorphism of dg quivers is an isomorphism in the category of pre-Calabi-Yau categories. We incidentally show that any pre-Calabi-Yau category has a minimal model. Finally, we prove that any quasi-isomorphism of pre-Calabi-Yau categories admits a quasi-inverse.

The weak categorical quiver minor theorem and its applications: matchings, multipaths, and magnitude cohomology

Abstract:Building upon previous works of Proudfoot and Ramos, and using the categorical framework of Sam and Snowden, we extend the weak categorical minor theorem from undirected graphs to quivers. As case of study, we investigate the consequences on the homology of multipath complexes; eg. on its torsion. Further, we prove a comparison result: we show that, when restricted to directed graphs without oriented cycles, multipath complexes and matching complexes yield functors which commute up to a blow-up operation on directed graphs. We use this fact to compute the homotopy type of matching complexes for a certain class of bipartite graphs also known as half-graphs or ladders. We complement the work with a study of the (representation) category of cones, and with analysing related consequences on magnitude cohomology of quivers.
