Abstract:We describe a natural generalization of irreducibility in order lattices with arbitrary metrics. We analyse the special cases of valuation metrics and more general metrics for lattices. This article is mainly based on a part of the author's doctoral thesis, but answers some additional questions.

Abstract:In this article, we prove the existence of rigid analytic families of $G$-stable lattices with locally constant reductions inside families of representations of a topologically compact group $G$, extending a result of Hellman obtained in the semi-simple residual case. Implementing this generalization in the context of Galois representations, we prove a local constancy result for reductions modulo prime powers of trianguline representations of generic dimension $d$. Moreover, we present two explicit applications. First, in dimension two, we extend to a prime power setting and to the whole rigid projective line a recent result of Bergdall, Levin and Liu concerning reductions of semi-stable representations of $\text{Gal}(\overline{\mathbb{Q}}_p / \mathbb{Q}_p)$ with fixed Hodge-Tate weights and large $\mathcal{L}$-invariant. Second, in dimension $d$, let $V_n$ be a sequence of crystalline representations converging in a certain geometric sense to a crystalline representation $V$. We show that for any refined version $(V, \sigma)$ of $V$ (or equivalently for any chosen triangulation of its attached $(\varphi, \Gamma)$-module $D_{\text{rig}} (V)$ over the Robba ring), there exists a sequence of refinement $\sigma_n$ of each of the $V_n$ such that the limit as refined representations $(V_n , \sigma_n )$ converges to the $(V, \sigma)$. This result does not hold under the weaker assumption that $V_n$ converges only uniformly $p$-adically to $V$ (in the sense of Chenevier, Khare and Larsen).

Abstract:For a profinite group $G$ and a rigid analytic space $X$, we study when an $\mathcal O_X(X)$-linear representation $V$ of $G$ admits a lattice, i.e. an $\mathcal O_{\mathcal X}(\mathcal X)$-linear model for a suitable formal model $\mathcal X$ of $X$ in the sense of Berthelot. We give a positive answer, under mild assumptions, when $X$ is a ``wide open'' space. As a consequence, we are able to describe explicit open rational subdomains of $X$ over which $V$ is constant after reduction modulo a power of $p$. We give applications in two different directions. First, we prove explicit results on the reduction modulo powers of $p$ of sheaves of crystalline and semistable representations of fixed weight. Second, we focus on the sheaves of Galois representations on eigenvarieties, which are important examples of wide open spaces thanks to a result of Bellaïche and Chenevier. We give an application of our main results to the pseudorepresentation carried by the Coleman--Mazur eigencurve, which can be made explicit whenever equations for a rational subdomain of the eigencurve are given.

Abstract:We identify a notion of reducibility between predicates, called instance reducibility, which commonly appears in reverse constructive mathematics. The notion can be generally used to compare and classify various principles studied in reverse constructive mathematics (formal Church's thesis, Brouwer's Continuity principle and Fan theorem, Excluded middle, Limited principle, Function choice, Markov's principle, etc.). We show that the instance degrees form a frame, i.e., a complete lattice in which finite infima distribute over set-indexed suprema. They turn out to be equivalent to the frame of upper sets of truth values, ordered by the reverse Smyth partial order. We study the overall structure of the lattice: the subobject classifier embeds into the lattice in two different ways, one monotone and the other antimonotone, and the $\lnot\lnot$-dense degrees coincide with those that are reducible to the degree of Excluded middle. We give an explicit formulation of instance degrees in a relative realizability topos, and call these extended Weihrauch degrees, because in Kleene-Vesley realizability the $\lnot\lnot$-dense modest instance degrees correspond precisely to Weihrauch degrees. The extended degrees improve the structure of Weihrauch degrees by equipping them with computable infima and suprema, an implication, the ability to control access to parameters and computation of results, and by generally widening the scope of Weihrauch reducibility.

Abstract:The main purpose of this paper is to present the methods of recognizing attribute characteristic and determining attribute reduction. Based on the binary relation between objects and attributes in a formal context, the properties of irreducible elements in extent closure systems are discussed. Some equivalence conditions that can recognize attribute characteristics are presented. A new reduction approach in concept lattices is derived by using the classification of attributes determined by the irreducible elements.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{O}$ be a Dedekind domain whose field of fractions $K$ is a global field. Let $A$ be a finite-dimensional separable $K$-algebra and let $\Lambda$ be an $\mathcal{O}$-order in $A$. Let $n$ be a positive integer and suppose that $X$ is a $\Lambda$-lattice such that $K \otimes_{\mathcal{O}} X$ is free of rank $n$ over $A$. Then $X$ contains a (non-unique) free $\Lambda$-sublattice of rank $n$. The main result of the present article is to show there exists such a sublattice $Y$ such that the generalised module index $[X : Y]_{\mathcal{O}}$ has explicit upper bounds with respect to division that are independent of $X$ and can be chosen to satisfy certain conditions. We give examples of applications to the approximation of normal integral bases and strong Minkowski units, and to the Galois module structure of rational points over abelian varieties.

Abstract:The first part of the present article consists in a survey about the dynamical constructive method designed using dynamical theories and dynamical algebraic structures. Dynamical methods uncovers a hidden computational content for numerous abstract objects of classical mathematics, which seem a priori inaccessible constructively, e.g., the algebraic closure of a (discrete) field. When a proof in classical mathematics uses these abstract objects and results in a concrete outcome, dynamical methods generally make possible to discover an algorithm for this concrete outcome. The second part of the article applies this dynamical method to the theory of divisibility. We compare two notions of valuative spectra present in the literature and we introduce a third notion, which is implicit in an article devoted to the dynamical theory of algebraically closed discrete valued fields. The two first notions are respectively due to Huber \& Knebusch and to Coquand. We prove that the corresponding valuative lattices are essentially the same. We establish formal Valuativestellensätze corresponding to these theories, and we compare the various resulting notions of valuative dimensions.

Rank-determining sets of metric graphs

Abstract:A metric graph is a geometric realization of a finite graph by identifying each edge with a real interval. A divisor on a metric graph $\Gamma$ is an element of the free abelian group on $\Gamma$. The rank of a divisor on a metric graph is a concept appearing in the Riemann-Roch theorem for metric graphs (or tropical curves) due to Gathmann and Kerber, and Mikhalkin and Zharkov. We define a \emph{rank-determining set} of a metric graph $\Gamma$ to be a subset $A$ of $\Gamma$ such that the rank of a divisor $D$ on $\Gamma$ is always equal to the rank of $D$ restricted on $A$. We show constructively in this paper that there exist finite rank-determining sets. In addition, we investigate the properties of rank-determining sets in general and formulate a criterion for rank-determining sets. Our analysis is a based on an algorithm to derive the $v_0$-reduced divisor from any effective divisor in the same linear system.

On $z$-elements of multiplicative lattices

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to investigate further properties of $z$-elements in multiplicative lattices. We utilize $z$-closure operators to extend several properties of $z$-ideals to $z$-elements and introduce various distinguished subclasses of $z$-elements, such as $z$-prime, $z$-semiprime, $z$-primary, $z$-irreducible, and $z$-strongly irreducible elements, and study their properties. We provide a characterization of multiplicative lattices where $z$-elements are closed under finite products and a representation of $z$-elements in terms of $z$-irreducible elements in $z$-Noetherian multiplicative lattices.

Abstract:Let X be a Hausdorff quotient of a standard space (that is of a locally compact separable metric space). It is shown that the following are equivalent: (i) X is the image of an irreducible quotient map from a standard space; (ii) X has a sequentially dense subset satisfying two technical conditions involving double sequences; (iii) whenever q:Y→X is a quotient map from a standard space Y, the restriction q⁎|V is an irreducible quotient map from V onto X (where q⁎:Y⁎→X is the pure quotient derived from q, and V is the closure of the set of singleton fibres of Y⁎). The proof uses extensions of the theorems of Whyburn and Zarikian from compact to locally compact standard spaces. The results are new even for quotients of locally compact subsets of the real line.

Abstract:We start a systematic analysis of the first-order model theory of free lattices. Firstly, we prove that the free lattices of finite rank are not positively indistinguishable, as there is a positive $\exists \forall$-sentence true in $\mathbf F_3$ and false in $\mathbf F_4$. Secondly, we show that every model of $\mathrm{Th}(\mathbf F_n)$ admits a canonical homomorphism into the profinite-bounded completion $\mathbf H_n$ of $\mathbf F_n$. Thirdly, we show that $\mathbf H_n$ is isomorphic to the Dedekind-MacNeille completion of $\mathbf F_n$, and that $\mathbf H_n$ is not positively elementarily equivalent to $\mathbf F_n$, as there is a positive $\forall\exists$-sentence true in $\mathbf H_n$ and false in $\mathbf F_n$. Finally, we show that $\mathrm{DM}(\mathbf F_n)$ is a retract of $\mathrm{Id}(\mathbf F_n)$ and that for any lattice $\mathbf K$ which satisfies Whitman's condition $\mathrm{(W)}$ and which is generated by join prime elements, the three lattices $\mathbf K$, $\mathrm{DM}(\mathbf K)$, and $\mathrm{Id}(\mathbf K)$ all share the same positive universal first-order theory.

Abstract:SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, Volume 45, Issue 1, Page 353-367, March 2024. A lattice of integers is the collection of all linear combinations of a set of vectors for which all entries of the vectors are integers and all coefficients in the linear combinations are also integers. Lattice reduction refers to the problem of finding a set of vectors in a given lattice such that the collection of all integer linear combinations of this subset is still the entire original lattice and so that the Euclidean norms of the subset are reduced. The present paper proposes simple, efficient iterations for lattice reduction which are guaranteed to reduce the Euclidean norms of the basis vectors (the vectors in the subset) monotonically during every iteration. Each iteration selects the basis vector for which projecting off (with integer coefficients) the components of the other basis vectors along the selected vector minimizes the Euclidean norms of the reduced basis vectors. Each iteration projects off the components along the selected basis vector and efficiently updates all information required for the next iteration to select its best basis vector and perform the associated projections.

Abstract:Let $F$ be a homogeneous $(\alpha_1,\alpha_2)$ metric on the reductive homogeneous manifold $G/H$. Firstly, we characterize the natural reductiveness of $F$ as a local $f$-product between naturally reductive Riemannian metrics. Secondly, we prove the equivalence among several properties of $F$ for its mean Berwald curvature and S-curvature. Finally, we find an explicit flag curvature formula when $F$ is naturally reductive.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a concept of $\mathfrak{X}$-element with respect to an $M$-closed set $\mathfrak{X}$ in multiplicative lattices and study properties of $\mathfrak{X}$-elements. For a particular $M$-closed subset $\mathfrak{X}$, we define the concept of $r$-element, $n$-element and $J$-element. These elements generalize the notion of $r$-ideals, $n$-ideals and $J$-ideals of a commutative ring with unity to multiplicative lattices. In fact, we prove that an ideal $I$ of a commutative ring $R$ with unity is a $n$-ideal ($J$-ideal) of $R$ if and only if it is an $n$-element ($J$-element) of $Id(R)$, the ideal lattice of $R$.

On the Decomposition of the Laplacian on Metric Graphs

Abstract:We study the Laplacian on family preserving metric graphs. These are graphs that have a certain symmetry that, as we show, allows for a decomposition into a direct sum of one-dimensional operators whose properties are explicitly related to the structure of the graph. Such decompositions have been extremely useful in the study of Schrödinger operators on metric trees. We show that the tree structure is not essential, and moreover, obtain a direct and simple correspondence between such decompositions in the discrete and continuum case.

Towards Strong Reverse Minkowski-type Inequalities for Lattices

Abstract:We present a natural reverse Minkowski-type inequality for lattices, which gives upper bounds on the number of lattice points in a Euclidean ball in terms of sublattice determinants, and conjecture its optimal form. The conjecture exhibits a surprising wealth of connections to various areas in mathematics and computer science, including a conjecture motivated by integer programming by Kannan and Lovász (Annals of Math. 1988), a question from additive combinatorics asked by Green, a question on Brownian motions asked by Saloff-Coste (Colloq. Math. 2010), a theorem by Milman and Pisier from convex geometry (Ann. Probab. 1987), worst-case to average-case reductions in lattice-based cryptography, and more. We present these connections, provide evidence for the conjecture, and discuss possible approaches towards a proof. Our main technical contribution is in proving that our conjecture implies the $\ell_2$ case of the Kannan and Lovász conjecture. The proof relies on a novel convex relaxation for the covering radius, and a rounding procedure for based on "uncrossing" lattice subspaces.

Irreducibility of toric complete intersections

Abstract:We develop an approach to study the irreducibility of generic complete intersections in the algebraic torus defined by equations with fixed monomials and fixed linear relations on coefficients. Using our approach we generalize the irreducibility theorems of Khovanskii to fields of arbitrary characteristic. Also we get a combinatorial sufficient conditions for irreducibility of engineered complete intersections. As an application we give a combinatorial condition of irreducibility for some critical loci and Thom-Bordmann strata: $f = f'_x = 0$, $f'_x = f'_y = 0$, $f = f'_x = f'_{xx} = 0$, etc.

Abstract:In this paper, we first give a topological representation of some algebraic lattices of ideals of C ( X ). Next, we apply these results and prove that a space X is normal if and only if the lattice of closed fixed ideals of C ( X ) is a sublattice of the lattice of ideals of C ( X ). It is proved that if two rings C ( X ) and C ( Y ) are isomorphic, then two lattices Z ∘ [ X ] and Z ∘ [ Y ] are isomorphic. We conclude that two rings C * ( X ) and C * ( Y ) are isomorphic if and only if two lattices Z [ βX ] and Z [ βY ] are isomorphic.
