Abstract:We construct the first example of a lattice on an irreducible Euclidean building that is not residually finite. Conjecturally, the normal subgroup theorem extends to this lattice making it virtually simple.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce a particular lattice of subgroups called a "cyclic-diamond" and show that every finite non-cyclic group contains a cyclic-diamond as a sublattice of its lattice of subgroups. Turning to the infinite case, we show that an infinite abelian group does not contain a cyclic-diamond in its subgroup lattice if and only if all of its finitely generated subgroups are cyclic or isomorphic to $\mathbb{Z} \times \mathbb{Z}_{2^N}$ for some $N$.

Abstract:It is shown that any finite, rank-connected, dismantlable lattice is lexicographically shellable (hence Cohen-Macaulay). A ranked, interval-connected lattice is shown to be rank-connected, but a rank-connected lattice need not be interval-connected. An example of a planar, rank-connected lattice that is not admissible is given.

Abstract:For a profinite group $G$ and a rigid analytic space $X$, we study when an $\mathcal O_X(X)$-linear representation $V$ of $G$ admits a lattice, i.e. an $\mathcal O_{\mathcal X}(\mathcal X)$-linear model for a suitable formal model $\mathcal X$ of $X$ in the sense of Berthelot. We give a positive answer, under mild assumptions, when $X$ is a ``wide open'' space. As a consequence, we are able to describe explicit open rational subdomains of $X$ over which $V$ is constant after reduction modulo a power of $p$. We give applications in two different directions. First, we prove explicit results on the reduction modulo powers of $p$ of sheaves of crystalline and semistable representations of fixed weight. Second, we focus on the sheaves of Galois representations on eigenvarieties, which are important examples of wide open spaces thanks to a result of Bellaïche and Chenevier. We give an application of our main results to the pseudorepresentation carried by the Coleman--Mazur eigencurve, which can be made explicit whenever equations for a rational subdomain of the eigencurve are given.

Abstract:A distributive lattice with zero is completely normal if its prime ideals form a root system under set inclusion.Every such lattice admits a binary operation (x,y) \mapsto x-y satisfying the rules x \leq y\vee (x-y) and (x-y) \wedge (y-x)=0 -- in short a <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://deviation.In" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> this paper we study the following additional properties of deviations: monotone (i.e., isotone in x and antitone in y) and Cevian (i.e., x-z \leq (x-y) \vee (y-z)).We relate those matters to finite separability as defined by Freese and Nation.We prove that every finitely separable completely normal lattice has a monotone deviation.We pay special attention to lattices of principal l-ideals of Abelian l-groups (which are always completely normal).We prove that for free Abelian l-groups (and also free vectorlattices) those lattices admit monotone Cevian deviations.On the other hand, we construct an Archimedean l-group with strong unit whose principal l-ideal lattice does not have a monotone deviation.

Abstract:Let L be a truncated Archimedean vector lattice whose truncation is denoted by *. In a recent paper, we proved that there exists a locally compact Hausdorff space X such that L is a lattice isomorphic with a truncated vector lattice of functions in C ∞ ( X ) whose truncation is provided by meet with some characteristic function on X . This representation, no matter how interesting it is, has a major drawback, namely, C ∞ ( X ) need not be a vector lattice, unless X is extremally disconnected. The main purpose of this paper is to remedy this shortcoming by proving that, indeed, an extremally disconnected locally compact space X can be found such that L can be seen as an order dense vector sublattice of C ∞ ( X ) whose truncation is provided, again, by meet with some characteristic function on X .

Abstract:Besides all the attention given to lattice constructions, it is common to find some very interesting nonlattice constellations, as Construction C, for example, which also has relevant applications in communication problems (multi-level coding, multi-stage decoding, good quantization efficieny). In this work we present a constellation which is a subset of Construction C, based on inter-level coding, which we call Construction C*. This construction may have better immunity to noise and it also provides a simple way of describing the Leech lattice $\Lambda_{24}.$ A condition under which Construction C* is a lattice constellation is given.
Lattice structure in cluster algebra of finite type and non-simply-laced Ingalls-Thomas bijection

Abstract:In this paper, we demonstrate that the lattice structure of a set of clusters in a cluster algebra of finite type is anti-isomorphic to the torsion lattice of a certain Geiss-Leclerc-Schröer (GLS) path algebra and to the $c$-Cambrian lattice. We prove this by explicitly describing the exchange quivers of cluster algebras of finite type. Specifically, we prove that these quivers are anti-isomorphic to those formed by support $\tau$-tilting modules in GLS path algebras and to those formed by $c$-clusters consisting of almost positive roots.

Abstract:When $\mathbb{Z}^d$ is represented as a finite disjoint union of translated integer sublattices, the translated sublattices must possess some special properties. Such a representation is called a \emph{lattice tiling}. We develop a theoretical framework, based on multiple residues and dual groups, to provide a set of necessary and sufficient conditions for such a lattice tiling to exist. We also investigate the question of when a lattice tiling must possess at least two translated sublattices which are translates of one another.

Abstract:An FN lattice $F$ is a simple, infinite, semidistributive lattice. Its existence was recently proved by R. Freese and J.\,B. Nation. Let $\mathsf{B}_n$ denote the Boolean lattice with $n$ atoms. For a lattice $K$, let $K^+$ denote $K$ with a new unit adjoined. We prove that the finite distributive lattices: $\mathsf{B}_0^+, \mathsf{B}_1^+,\mathsf{B}_2^+, \dots$ can be represented as congruence lattices of infinite semidistributive lattices. The case $n = 0$ is the Freese-Nation result, which is utilized in the proof. We also prove some related representation theorems.

Abstract:A canonical minimal free resolution of an arbitrary co-artinian lattice ideal over the polynomial ring is constructed over any field whose characteristic is 0 or any but finitely many positive primes. The differential has a closed-form combinatorial description as a sum over lattice paths in $\mathbb{Z}^n$ of weights that come from sequences of faces in simplicial complexes indexed by lattice points. Over a field of any characteristic, a non-canonical but simpler resolution is constructed by selecting choices of higher-dimensional analogues of spanning trees along lattice paths. These constructions generalize sylvan resolutions for monomial ideals by lifting them equivariantly to lattice modules.

On the Existence of Cyclic Lattice Codes

Abstract:A coding lattice $\Lambda_c$ and a shaping lattice $\Lambda_s$ forms a nested lattice code $\mathcal{C}$ if $\Lambda_s \subseteq \Lambda_c$. Under some conditions, $\mathcal{C}$ is a finite cyclic group formed by rectangular encoding. This paper presents the conditions for the existence of such $\mathcal{C}$ and provides some designs. These designs correspond to solutions to linear Diophantine equations so that a cyclic lattice code $\mathcal C$ of arbitrary codebook size $M$ can possess group isomorphism, which is an essential property for a nested lattice code to be applied in physical layer network relaying techniques such as compute and forward.

Abstract:A flat of a matroid is cyclic if it is a union of circuits; such flats form a lattice under inclusion and, up to isomorphism, all lattices can be obtained this way. A lattice is a Tr-lattice if all matroids whose lattices of cyclic flats are isomorphic to it are transversal. We investigate some sufficient conditions for a lattice to be a Tr-lattice; a corollary is that distributive lattices of dimension at most two are Tr-lattices. We give a necessary condition: each element in a Tr-lattice has at most two covers. We also give constructions that produce new Tr-lattices from known Tr-lattices.

Abstract:We introduce a family of toric algebras defined by maximal chains of a finite distributive lattice. Applying results on stable set polytopes we conclude that every such algebra is normal and Cohen-Macaulay, and give an interpretation of its Krull dimension in terms of the combinatorics of the underlying lattice. When the lattice is planar, we show that the corresponding chain algebra is generated by a sortable set of monomials and is isomorphic to a Hibi ring of another finite distributive lattice. As a consequence it has a defining toric ideal with a quadratic Gröbner basis, and its $h$-vector counts ascents in certain standard Young tableaux. If instead the lattice has dimension $n>2$, we show that the defining ideal has minimal generators of degree at least $n$.

Abstract:In 1885, Fedorov discovered that a convex domain can form a lattice tiling of the Euclidean plane if and only if it is a parallelogram or a centrally symmetric hexagon. his paper proves the following results. Except for parallelograms and centrally symmetric hexagons, there are no other convex domains that can form two-, three- or four-fold lattice tilings in the Euclidean plane. However, there are both octagons and decagons that can form five-fold lattice tilings. Whenever n >= 3, there are non-parallelohedral polytopes that can form five-fold lattice tilings in the n-dimensional Euclidean space.
Commensurability of lattices in right-angled buildings

Abstract:Let $\Gamma$ be a graph product of finite groups, with finite underlying graph, and let $\Delta$ be the associated right-angled building. We prove that a uniform lattice $\Lambda$ in the cubical automorphism group Aut$(\Delta)$ is weakly commensurable to $\Gamma$ if and only if all convex subgroups of $\Lambda$ are separable. As a corollary, any two finite special cube complexes with universal cover $\Delta$ have a common finite cover. An important special case of our theorem is where $\Gamma$ is a right-angled Coxeter group and $\Delta$ is the associated Davis complex. We also obtain an analogous result for right-angled Artin groups. In addition, we deduce quasi-isometric rigidity for the group $\Gamma$ when $\Delta$ has the structure of a Fuchsian building.

Abstract:A lattice $\Lambda$ is said to be an extension of a sublattice $L$ of smaller rank if $L$ is equal to the intersection of $\Lambda$ with the subspace spanned by $L$. The goal of this paper is to initiate a systematic study of the geometry of lattice extensions. We start by proving the existence of a small-determinant extension of a given lattice, and then look at successive minima and covering radius. To this end, we investigate extensions (within an ambient lattice) preserving the successive minima of the given lattice, as well as extensions preserving the covering radius. We also exhibit some interesting arithmetic properties of deep holes of planar lattices.

Abstract:A group is LERF (locally extended residually finite) if all its finitely generated subgroups are separable. We prove that the trialitarian arithmetic lattices in 𝐏𝐒𝐎_7,1(ℝ) are not LERF. This result, together with previous work by the third author, implies that all arithmetic lattices in 𝐏𝐎_n,1(ℝ), n>3, are not LERF.
