Invariance properties of the corresponding topological entropy is studied too. Abstract: Given any $K>0$, we construct two equivalent $C^2$ flows, one of which has positive topological entropy larger than $K$ and admits zero as the exponential growth of periodic orbits, in contrast, the other has zero topological entropy and super-exponential growth of periodic orbits. Moreover we establish a $C^{\infty}$ flow on $\mathbb{S}^2$ with super-exponential growth of periodic orbits, which is also equivalent to another flow with zero exponential growth of periodic orbits. On the other hand, any two dimensional flow has only zero topological entropy.

Abstract:Based on the theory of Carathéodory structure, this paper introduces several definitions of entropies for impulsive semi-flows on arbitrary subsets. We compare these definitions and establish relations of these definitions. We show an inverse variational principle between topological -entropy and measure theoretic -entropy. Abstract:For a geometrically finite Kleinian group $\Gamma$, the Bowen-Margulis-Sullivan measure is finite and is the unique measure of maximal entropy for the geodesic flow, as shown by Sullivan and Otal-Peigné respectively. Moreover, it is strongly mixing by Babillot. We obtain a higher rank analogue of this theorem. Given a relatively Anosov subgroup $\Gamma$ of a semisimple real algebraic group, there is a family of flow spaces parameterized by linear forms tangent to the growth indicator. We construct a reparameterization of each flow space by the geodesic flow on the Groves-Manning space of $\Gamma$ which has an exponentially expanding property along unstable foliations. Using this reparameterization, we prove that the Bowen-Margulis-Sullivan measure of each flow space is finite and is the unique measure of maximal entropy. Moreover, it is strongly mixing.

Abstract:We use entropy theory as a new tool to study sectional hyperbolic flows in any dimension. We show that for $C^1$ flows, every sectional hyperbolic set $\Lambda$ is entropy expansive, and the topological entropy varies continuously with the flow. Furthermore, if $\Lambda$ is Lyapunov stable, then it has positive entropy; in addition, if $\Lambda$ is a chain recurrent class, then it contains a periodic orbit. As a corollary, we prove that for $C^1$ generic flows, every Lorenz-like class is an attractor.

Abstract:Katok [Lyapunov exponents, entropy and periodic points of diffeomorphisms. Publ. Math. Inst. Hautes Études Sci. 51 (1980), 137–173] conjectured that every $C^{2}$ diffeomorphism f on a Riemannian manifold has the intermediate entropy property, that is, for any constant $c \in [0, h_{\mathrm {top}}(f))$ , there exists an ergodic measure $\mu $ of f satisfying $h_{\mu }(f)=c$ . In this paper, we obtain a conditional intermediate metric entropy property and two conditional intermediate Birkhoff average properties for basic sets of flows that characterize the refined roles of ergodic measures in the invariant ones. In this process, we establish a ‘multi-horseshoe’ entropy-dense property and use it to get the goal combined with conditional variational principles. We also obtain the same result for singular hyperbolic attractors.

Abstract:We show the existence of non-homothetic ancient flows by powers of curvature embedded in $\mathbb{R}^2$ whose entropy is finite. We determine the Morse indices and kernels of the linearized operator of shrinkers to the flows and construct ancient flows by using unstable eigenfunctions of the linearized operator.

Abstract:In this article, we exhibit certain linking properties of periodic orbits of $C^{1+\alpha}$ flows with positive topological entropy on closed 3-manifolds M. It is shown that any such flow contains a link L of periodic orbits and a horseshoe K in MŁ, such that all periodic orbits in K are unique in their homotopy class in MŁ(among periodic orbits in M). Moreover, the entropy of the flow can be approximated by the entropies of such horseshoes K. A version of that result for chords is obtained. Our main motivation comes from Reeb dynamics, and as an application, we address a question by Alves-Pirnapasov, and obtain that the topological entropy of a 3-dimensional, $C^{\infty}$-generic Reeb flow can be approximated by the exponential homotopical growth rates of contact homology in link complements.

Abstract:In this work we introduce and explore a rescaled-theory of local stable and unstable sets for rescaled-expansive flows and its applications to topological entropy. We introduce a rescaled version of the local unstable sets and the unstable points. We find conditions for points of the phase space to exhibit non-trivial connected pieces of such unstable sets. We apply these results to the problem of proving positive topological entropy for rescaled-expansive flows with non-singular Lyapunov stable sets.

Abstract:Bounds of total curvature and entropy are two common conditions placed on mean curvature flows. We show that these two hypotheses are equivalent for the class of ancient complete embedded smooth planar curve shortening flows, which are one-dimensional mean curvature flows. As an application, we give a short proof of the uniqueness of tangent flow at infinity of an ancient smooth complete non-compact curve shortening flow with finite entropy embedded in $\mathbb{R}^2$.

Abstract:Motivated by an extension to Gallavotti–Cohen Chaotic Hypothesis, we study local and global existence of a gradient flow of the Sinai–Ruelle–Bowen entropy functional in the space of transitive Anosov maps. For the space of expanding maps on the unit circle, we equip it with a Hilbert manifold structure using a Sobolev norm in the tangent space of the manifold. Under the additional measure-preserving assumption and a slightly modified metric, we show that the gradient flow exists globally and every trajectory of the flow converges to a unique limiting map where the SRB entropy attains the maximal value. In a simple case, we obtain an explicit formula for the flow's ordinary differential equation representation. This gradient flow has close connection to a nonlinear partial differential equation, a gradient-dependent diffusion equation.
