Abstract:Let M be an n-dimensional oriented compact submanifold with parallel mean curvature in the unit sphere $S^{n+p}$. Denote by H and S the mean curvature and the squared length of the second fundamental form of M, respectively. We obtain a classification theorem of M if it satisfies $S+\lambda _2\le \alpha (n,H)$, where $\lambda _{2}$ is the second largest eigenvalue of the fundamental matrix and $\alpha (n,H)$ is defined as in Theorem B.

Abstract:Let Mn(n ≥ 4) be an oriented compact submanifold with parallel mean curvature in an (n + p)-dimensional complete simply connected Riemannian manifold Nn+p. Then there exists a constant δ(n, p) 2 (0, 1) such that if the sectional curvature of N satisfies $${\overline K _N} \in \;\,\left[ {\delta \left( {n,p} \right),\;1} \right]$$, and if M has a lower bound for Ricci curvature and an upper bound for scalar curvature, then N is isometric to Sn+p. Moreover, M is either a totally umbilic sphere $${S^n}({1 \over {\sqrt {1 + {H^2}} }})$$, a Clifford hypersurface $${S^m}({1 \over {\sqrt {2(1 + {H^2})} }})\; \times \;{S^m}({1 \over {\sqrt {2(1 + {H^2})} }})$$ in the totally umbilic sphere $${S^{n+1}}({1 \over {\sqrt {1 + {H^2}} }})$$ with n = 2m, or $${\mathbb{C}{\rm{P}}^2}\left( {{4 \over 3}\left( {1 + {H^2}} \right)} \right)$$ in $${S^7}({1 \over {\sqrt {1 + {H^2}} }})$$. This is a generalization of Ejiri’s rigidity theorem.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate Yau's rigidity problem for compact submanifolds with parallel mean curvature in pinched Riemannian manifolds. Firstly, we prove that if M-n is an oriented closed minimal submanifold in an (n + p)-dimensional complete simply connected Riemannian manifold Nn(+p), then there exists a constant delta(0)(n, p) is an element of (0, 1) such that if the sectional curvature of N satisfies (K) over bar (N) is an element of[delta(0)(n, p), 1], and if M has a lower bound for the sectional curvature and an upper bound for the normalized scalar curvature, then N is isometric to Sn+p. Moreover, M is either a totally geodesic sphere, one of the Clifford minimal hypersurfaces S-k(root k/n) x S-n (k)(root n-k/n) in Sn+1 for k = 1,..., n-1, or the Veronese submanifold in Sn+d, where d = 1/2n(n + 1) - 1. We then generalize the above theorem to the case where M ia a compact submanifold with parallel mean curvature in a pinched Riemannian manifold.

Abstract:Large scale properties of Riemannian manifolds, in particular, those properties preserved by quasi-isometries, can be studied using discrete structures which approximate the manifolds. In a sequence of papers, M. Kanai proved that, under mild conditions, many properties are preserved by a certain (quasi-isometric) graph approximation of a manifold. One of these properties is p -parabolicity. A manifold M (respectively, a graph G ) is said to be p -parabolic if all positive p -superharmonic functions on M (resp. G ) are constant. This is equivalent to not having p -Green's function (i.e. a positive fundamental solution of the p -Laplace-Beltrami operator). Herein we study directly the p -parabolicity on graphs. We obtain some characterizations in terms of graph decompositions. Also, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for a uniform hyperbolic graph to be p -parabolic in terms of its boundary at infinity. Finally, we prove that if a uniform hyperbolic graph satisfies the (Cheeger) isoperimetric inequality, then it is non- p -parabolic for every \(1

Abstract:A rigidity theorem for oriented complete submanifolds with parallel mean curvature in a complete and simply connected Riemannian (n + p)-dimensional manifold N n+p with negative sectional curvature is proved. For given positive integers n(≥ 2), p and for a constant H satisfying H > 1 there exists a negative number τ(n, p, H) ∈ (−1,0) with the property that if the sectional curvature of N is pinched in [−1, τ(n, p, H)], and if the squared length of the second fundamental form is in a certain interval, then N n+p is isometric to the hyperbolic space H n+p(−1). As a consequence, this submanifold M is congruent to S n (1/$\sqrt {H^2 - 1} $) or the Veronese surface in S 4(1/$\sqrt {H^2 - 1} $).

Abstract:In this note, we investigate the pinching problem for oriented compact submanifolds of dimension n with parallel normalized mean curvature vector in a space form Fn+p(c). We first prove a codimension reduction theorem for submanifolds under lower Ricci curvature bounds. Moreover, if the submanifolds have constant normalized scalar curvature R≥c, we obtain a classification theorem for submanifolds under lower Ricci curvature bounds. It should be emphasized that our Ricci pinching conditions are sharp for even n and p=2.

Abstract:Abstract On a complete $p$-nonparabolic $3$-dimensional manifold with non-negative scalar curvature and vanishing second homology, we establish a sharp monotonicity formula for the proper $p$-Green function along its level sets for $1<p<3$. This can be viewed as a generalization of the recent result by Munteanu-Wang [ 43] in the case of $p=2$. No smoothness assumption is made on the $p$-Green function when $1<p\leq 2$. Several rigidity results are also proven.

Abstract:A complete manifold is said to be nonparabolic if it does admit a positive Green’s function. To find a sharp geometric criterion for the parabolicity/nonparbolicity is an attractive question inside the function theory on Riemannian manifolds. This paper devotes to proving a criterion for nonparabolicity of a complete manifold weakened by the Ricci curvature. For this purpose, we shall apply the new Laplacian comparison theorem established by the first author to show the existence of a non-constant bounded subharmonic function.
General form of second main theorem on generalized $p$-Parabolic manifolds for arbitrary closed subschemes

Abstract:By introducing the notion of distributive constant for a family of closed subschemes, we establish a general form of the second main theorem for algebraic nondegenerate meromorphic mappings from a generalized $p$-Parabolic manifold into a projective variety with arbitrary families of closed subschemes. As its consequence, we give a second main theorem for such meromorphic mappings intersecting arbitrary hypersurfaces with an explicitly truncation level for the counting functions.

Abstract:Making use of 1-forms and geometric inequalities we prove the rigidity property of complete submanifolds Mn with parallel mean curvature normal in a complete and simply connected Riemannian (n+p)-manifold Nn+p with positive sectional curvature. For given integers n, p and for a nonnegative constant H we find a positive number tau(n, p) is an element of (0, 1) with the property that if the sectional curvature of N is pinched in [tau(n, p), 1], and if the squared norm of the second fundamental form is in a certain interval, then Nn+p is isometric to the standard unit (n+p)-sphere. As a consequence, such an M is congruent to one of the five models as seen in our Main Theorem.

Abstract:Let M be an n-dimensional submanifold in the simply connected space form F n+p (c) with c + H 2 > 0, where H is the mean curvature of M. We verify that if M n (n ≥ 3) is an oriented compact submanifold with parallel mean curvature and its Ricci curvature satisfies Ric M ≥ (n − 2)(c + H 2), then M is either a totally umbilic sphere, a Clifford hypersurface in an (n + 1)-sphere with n = even, or ${\mathbb{C}P^{2} \left(\frac{4}{3}(c + H^{2})\right) {\rm in} S^{7} \left(\frac{1}{\sqrt{c + H^{2}}}\right)}$. In particular, if Ric M > (n − 2)(c + H 2), then M is a totally umbilic sphere. We then prove that if M n (n ≥ 4) is a compact submanifold in F n+p (c) with c ≥ 0, and if Ric M > (n − 2)(c + H 2), then M is homeomorphic to a sphere. It should be emphasized that our pinching conditions above are sharp. Finally, we obtain a differentiable sphere theorem for submanifolds with positive Ricci curvature.
Sharp pinching theorems for complete submanifolds in the sphere

Abstract:We prove that every complete, minimally immersed submanifold $f\: M^n \to \mathbb{S}^{n+p}$ whose second fundamental form satisfies $|A|^2 \le np/(2p-1)$, is either totally geodesic, or (a covering of) a Clifford torus or a Veronese surface in $\mathbb{S}^4$, thereby extending the well-known results by Simons, Lawson and Chern, do Carmo & Kobayashi from compact to complete $M^n$. We also obtain the corresponding result for complete hypersurfaces with nonvanishing constant mean curvature, due to Alencar & do Carmo in the compact case, under the optimal bound on the umbilicity tensor. In dimension $n \le 6$, a pinching theorem for complete higher-codimensional submanifolds with non-vanishing parallel mean curvature is proved, partly generalizing previous work of Santos. Our approach is inspired by the conformal method of Fischer-Colbrie, Shen & Ye and Catino, Mastrolia & Roncoroni.

Rigidity for complete maximal spacelike submanifolds in pseudo-hyperbolic space

Abstract:We prove that the scalar curvature is a rigid invariant for complete maximal spacelike $p$-submanifolds in the pseudo-hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}^{p,q}$. We characterize the $p$-submanifolds achieving the bound and study the hyperbolicity of maximal $p$-submanifolds of $\mathbb{H}^{p,q}$. In codimension $q=1$, we deduce a rigidity result concerning the Ricci curvature of maximal hypersurfaces in anti-de Sitter spaces.

Abstract:A decomposition theorem is established for a class of closed Riemannian submanifolds immersed in a space form of constant sectional curvature. In particular, it is shown that if $M$ has nonnegative sectional curvature and admits a Codazzi tensor with "parallel mean curvature", then $M$ is locally isometric to a direct product of irreducible factors determined by the spectrum of that tensor. This decomposition is global when $M$ is simply connected, and generalizes what is known for immersed submanifolds with parallel mean curvature vector.

Abstract:Let M be an n-dimensional compact submanifold in the simply connected space form Fn+p(c) with c+H-2 > 0. We verify that if the sectional curvature of M satisfies K-M > n-2/n+2c + n(2)H(2)/8(n+2), then M is diffeomorphic to a spherical space form. Moreover, we show that if M is an oriented compact submanifold in Fn+p(c) with c >= 0, and if n not equal 3, 5, K-M > n-2/n+2c +n(2)H(2)/8(n+2), then M is diffeomorphic to the standard n-sphere. It should be emphasized that our results are optimal for n = 4.
