Abstract:We prove that, general $\s$-models related by Poisson-Lie T-duality are quantum equivalent under one-loop renormalization group flow. We reveal general properties of the flows, we study the associated generalized coset models and provide explicit examples.

Abstract:We generalize the Poisson-Lie T-duality by making use of the structure of the affine Poisson group which is the concept introduced some time ago in Poisson geometry as a generalization of the Poisson-Lie group. We also introduce a new notion of an affine quasi-Poisson group and show that it gives rise to a still more general T-duality framework. We establish for a class of examples that this new T-duality is compatible with the renormalization group flow.

Abstract:We study Poisson-Lie T-duality of the Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten (WZNW) models which are obtained from a class of Drinfel'd doubles and its generalization. In this case, the resultant WZNW models are known to be classically self-dual under Poisson-Lie T-duality. We describe an explicit construction of the associated currents, and discuss the conformal invariance under this duality. In a concrete example of the SU(2) WZNW model, we find that the self-duality is represented as a chiral automorphism of the (2) affine Lie algebra, though the transformation of the currents is non-local and non-linear. This classical automorphism can be promoted to the quantum one through the parafermionic formulation of (2), which in turn induces an isomorphism of the WZNW model. We thus find a full quantum equivalence of the dual pair under Poisson-Lie T-duality. The isomorphism is represented by a sign-change of a chiral boson or the order-disorder duality of the parafermionic conformal field theory as in Abelian T-duality on tori or in the mirror symmetry of the Gepner model.

Abstract:We consider classical and quantum integrable sigma models and their relations with the solutions of renormalization group equations. We say that an integrable sigma model possesses the "nice" duality property if the dual quantum field theory has the weak coupling region. As an example, we consider the deformed $CP(n-1)$ sigma model with additional quantum degrees of freedom. We formulate the dual integrable field theory and use perturbed conformal field theory, perturbation theory, $S$-matrix, Bethe Ansatz and renormalization group methods to show that this field theory has the "nice" duality property. We consider also an alternative approach to the analysis of sigma models on the deformed symmetric spaces, based on the perturbed rational conformal field theories.

A Formal Equivalence of Deformation Quantization and Geometric Quantization (of Higher Groupoids) and Non-Perturbative Sigma Models

Abstract:Based on work done by Bonechi, Cattaneo, Felder and Zabzine on Poisson sigma models, we formally show that Kontsevich's star product can be obtained from the twisted convolution algebra of the geometric quantization of a Lie 2-groupoid, one which integrates the Poisson structure. We show that there is an analogue of the Poisson sigma model which is valued in Lie 1-groupoids and which can often be defined non-perturbatively; it can be obtained by symplectic reduction using the quantization of the Lie 2-groupoid. We call these groupoid-valued sigma models and we argue that, when they exist, they can be used to compute correlation functions of gauge invariant observables. This leads to a (possibly non-associative) product on the underlying space of functions on the Poisson manifold, and in several examples we show that we recover strict deformation quantizations, in the sense of Rieffel. Even in the cases when our construction leads to a non-associative product we still obtain a $C^*$-algebra and a "quantization" map. In particular, we construct noncommutative $C^*$-algebras equipped with an $SU(2)$-action, together with an equivariant "quantization" map from $C^{\infty}(S^2)\,.$ No polarizations are used in the construction of these algebras.

Abstract:For a compact monotone symplectic manifold $X$ with Hamiltonian action of a compact Lie group $G$ and smooth symplectic reduction, we relate its gauged $2$-dimensional $A$-model to the $A$-model of $X/\!/G$. This (long conjectured) result is parallel to the ($B$-model!) \emph{quantization commutes with reduction} theorem of Guillemin and Sternberg in quantum mechanics. Here, we spell out some of the precise statements, and outline the proof of equality for the spaces of states (quantum cohomology). We also indicate the way to some related results in the non-monotone case. Additional Floer theory details will be included in a follow-up paper.

Abstract:Some generalizations of spin Sutherland models descend from `master integrable systems' living on Heisenberg doubles of compact semisimple Lie groups. The master systems represent Poisson--Lie counterparts of the systems of free motion modeled on the respective cotangent bundles and their reduction relies on taking quotient with respect to a suitable conjugation action of the compact Lie group. We present an enhanced exposition of the reductions and prove rigorously for the first time that the reduced systems possess the property of degenerate integrability on the dense open subset of the Poisson quotient space corresponding to the principal orbit type for the pertinent group action. After restriction to a smaller dense open subset, degenerate integrability on the generic symplectic leaves is demonstrated as well. The paper also contains a novel description of the reduced Poisson structure and a careful elaboration of the scaling limit whereby our reduced systems turn into the spin Sutherland models.

Abstract:The "quantum duality principle" states that a quantisation of a Lie bialgebra provides also a quantisation of the dual formal Poisson group and, conversely, a quantisation of a formal Poisson group yields a quantisation of the dual Lie bialgebra as well. We extend this to a much more general result: namely, given any principal ideal domain R, for each prime h in R we establish sort of an "inner" Galois' correspondence on the category HA of torsionless Hopf algebras over R, via the definition of two functors (from HA to itself) such that the image of the first, resp. of the second, is the full subcategory of those Hopf algebras which are commutative, resp. cocommutative, modulo h (i.e. they are "quantum function algebras" (=QFA), resp. "quantum universal enveloping algebras" (=QUEA), at h). In particular we provide a machine to get two quantum groups - a QFA and a QUEA - out of any Hopf algebra H over a field k: just plug in a parameter x and apply the functors to H[x] for h = x. Several relevant examples are studied in full detail: the trivial quantisations, the semisimple groups, the Euclidean group, the Heisenberg group, and the Kostant-Kirillov structure on any Lie algebra; furthermore, an interesting application to renormalisation theory in quantum electro-dynamics is studied, as a sample of application of the principle to a quite large class of problems. A Canonical Quantization of Poisson Manifolds: a 2-Groupoid Scheme

Abstract:We canonically quantize a Poisson manifold to a Lie 2-groupoid, complete with a quantization map, and show that it relates geometric and deformation quantization: the perturbative expansion in $\hbar$ of the (formal) convolution of two quantized functions yields Kontsevich's star product. Meanwhile, we can push forward this quantization map (by integrating over homotopies of paths) to obtain a quantization map in traditional geometric quantization. This gives a polarization-free, path integral definition of the quantization map, which does not have a prior prescription for Poisson manifolds and which only has a partial prescription for symplectic manifolds. We show that in conventional quantum mechanics our operators are defined on the entire prequantum Hilbert space and that they all preserve polarized sections, contrary to the Kostant-Souriau approach.

Abstract:(In the revised version the relevant aspect of noncompactness of the moduli of instantons is discussed. It is shown nonperturbatively that any BRST trivial deformation of A-model which does not change the ranks of BRST cohomology does not change the topological correlation functions either) We show that the Floer cohomology and quantum cohomology rings of the almost Kahler manifold M, both defined over the Novikov ring of the loop space LM of M, are isomorphic. We do it using a BRST trivial deformation of the topological A-model. As an example we compute the Floer = quantum cohomology of the 3-dimensional flag space Fl_3.

Dualities in one-dimensional quantum lattice models: topological sectors

Abstract:It has been a long-standing open problem to construct a general framework for relating the spectra of dual theories to each other. Here, we solve this problem for the case of one-dimensional quantum lattice models with symmetry-twisted boundary conditions. In ref. [PRX Quantum 4, 020357], dualities are defined between (categorically) symmetric models that only differ in a choice of module category. Using matrix product operators, we construct from the data of module functors explicit symmetry operators preserving boundary conditions as well as intertwiners mapping topological sectors of dual models onto one another. We illustrate our construction with a family of examples that are in the duality class of the spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ Heisenberg XXZ model. One model has symmetry operators forming the fusion category $\mathsf{Rep}(\mathcal S_3)$ of representations of the group $\mathcal S_3$. We find that the mapping between its topological sectors and those of the XXZ model is associated with the non-trivial braided auto-equivalence of the Drinfel'd center of $\mathsf{Rep}(\mathcal S_3)$.

Lattice T-duality from non-invertible symmetries in quantum spin chains

Abstract:Dualities of quantum field theories are challenging to realize in lattice models of qubits. In this work, we explore one of the simplest dualities, T-duality of the compact boson CFT, and its realization in quantum spin chains. In the special case of the XX model, we uncover an exact lattice T-duality, which is associated with a non-invertible symmetry that exchanges two lattice U(1) symmetries. The latter symmetries flow to the momentum and winding U(1) symmetries with a mixed anomaly in the CFT. However, the charge operators of the two U(1) symmetries do not commute on the lattice and instead generate the Onsager algebra. We discuss how some of the anomalies in the CFT are nonetheless still exactly realized on the lattice and how the lattice U(1) symmetries enforce gaplessness. We further explore lattice deformations preserving both U(1) symmetries and find a rich gapless phase diagram with special $\mathrm{Spin}(2k)_1$ WZW model points and whose phase transitions all have dynamical exponent ${z>1}$.

Abstract:A Lie system is a non-autonomous system of ordinary differential equations describing the integral curves of a t -dependent vector field that is equivalent to a t -dependent family of vector fields within a finite-dimensional Lie algebra of vector fields. Lie systems have been generalised in the literature to deal with t -dependent Schrödinger equations determined by a particular class of t -dependent Hamiltonian operators, the quantum Lie systems, and other systems of differential equations through the so-called quasi-Lie schemes. This work extends quasi-Lie schemes and quantum Lie systems to cope with t -dependent Schrödinger equations associated with the here-called quantum quasi-Lie systems. To illustrate our methods, we propose and study a quantum analogue of the classical nonlinear oscillator searched by Perelomov, and we analyse a quantum one-dimensional fluid in a trapping potential along with quantum t -dependent Smorodinsky–Winternitz oscillators.

Abstract:The quantum duality principal (QDP) by Drinfeld predicts a connection between the quantized universial enveloping algebras and the quantized coordinate algebras, where the underlying classical objects are related by the duality in Poisson geometry. The current paper gives an explicit formulization of the QDP for quantum symmetric pairs. Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a complex semi-simple Lie algebra, equipped with the standard Lie bialgebra structure. Let $\theta$ be a Lie algebra involution on $\mathfrak{g}$ and denote by $\mathfrak{k}=\mathfrak{g}^\theta$ the fixed point subalgebra. The quantum symmetric pair $(\mathrm{U},\mathrm{U}^\imath)$ is originally defined to be a quantization of the symmetric pair of the universial enveloping algebras $(U(\mathfrak{g}),U(\mathfrak{k}))$. In this paper, we show that an explicit specialisation of $(\mathrm{U},\mathrm{U}^\imath)$ gives rise to the pair of the coordinate algebras $(\mathcal{O}(G^*),\mathcal{O}(K^\perp\backslash G^*))$, where $G^*$ is the dual Poisson-Lie group with the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}^*$, and $K^\perp\backslash G^*$ is a $G^*$-Poisson homogeneous space. Here $K^\perp$ is the closed subgroup of $G^*$associated to the complementary dual of $\mathfrak{k}$. Therefore $(\mathrm{U},\mathrm{U}^\imath)$ can be viewed as a pair of quantized coordinate algebras. This generalises the well-known fact that the quantum group $\mathrm{U}$ provides a quantization of the coordinate algebra $\mathcal{O}(G^*)$.

On the Quantum Metaplectic Howe Duality

Abstract:We establish a quantum analogue of the classical metaplectic Howe duality involving the pair of Lie algebras $(\mathfrak{sp}_{2n},\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ in the case when $n=1$. Our results yield commuting representations of the pair of Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum groups $(\mathcal U_{q^2}(\mathfrak{sl}_2),\mathcal U_{q}(\mathfrak{sl}_2))$ realized in a suitable algebra of $q$-differential operators acting on the space of symplectic polynomial spinors. We obtain $q$-analogues for the symplectic Dirac operator, the Fischer decomposition, the expression for the symplectic polynomial monogenics and for the projection operators onto the monogenics. We also discuss $q$-analogues of generalized symmetries of the $q$-symplectic Dirac operator raising the homogeneous polynomial degree.

Quotient Construction of 't Hooft's Quantum Equivalence Classes

Abstract:Most recently 't Hooft has postulated (G 't Hooft, Class. Quant. Grav. 16 (1999) 3263-3279) that quantum states at the ``atomic scale''can be understood as equivalence classes of primordial states governed by a dissipative deterministic theory underlying quantum theory at the ``Planck scale''. Defining invariant subspaces clearly for primordial states according to a given evolution, we mathematically re-formulate 't Hooft's theory as a quotient space construction with the time-reversible evolution operator induced naturally. With this observation and some analysis, 't Hooft's theory is generalized beyond his case where the evolution at the ``Planck scale'' is periodic or the time is discrete. We also give a novel illustration that the Fock space of quantum oscillator could follow from the quotient space construction for certain primordial states obeying non-reversible evolution governed by a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian.

Abstract:With the use of mathematical techniques of tropical geometry, it was shown by Mikhalkin some twenty years ago that certain Gromov-Witten invariants associated with topological quantum field theories of pseudoholomorphic maps can be computed by going to the tropical limit of the geometries in question. Here we examine this phenomenon from the physics perspective of topological quantum field theory in the path integral representation, beginning with the case of the topological sigma model before coupling it to topological gravity. We identify the tropicalization of the localization equations, investigate its geometry and symmetries, and study the theory and its observables using the standard cohomological BRST methods. We find that the worldsheet theory exhibits a nonrelativistic structure, similar to theories of the Lifshitz type. Its path-integral formulation does not require a worldsheet complex structure; instead, it is based on a worldsheet foliation structure.
