Abstract:The regular reduction of a Dirac manifold acted upon freely and properly by a Lie group is generalized to a nonfree action. For this, several facts about $G$-invariant vector fields and one-forms are shown.

Abstract:A new method of singular reduction is extended from Poisson to Dirac manifolds. Then it is shown that the Dirac structures on the strata of the quotient coincide with those of the only other known singular Dirac reduction method.

Abstract:Dirac structures are characterized in terms of their characteristic pairs dened in this note and then Poisson reductions are discussed from the point of view of Dirac structures. 1. Introduction. Dirac structures on manifolds include closed 2-forms, Poisson structures, and foliations which were introduced by Courant and Weinstein and thor- oughly investigated in (2). Their Lie algebroid version was developed by Weinstein, Xu and the author in (6) and (7). In this note, we characterize a Dirac structure in terms of its characteristic pair (D; ), which consists of a subbundle and a bivector eld. One can see that it becomes more convenient to check the integrability and to study the reduction of a Dirac structure described this way. In the Lie bialgebra case, such a description is given by Diatta and Menida in (3). As natural generalizations of symplectic reductions, Poisson reductions admit many applications. There are already several versions and dieren t approaches for doing it, e.g., Marsden and Ratiu's theorem in (10) and that in (13) given by Weinstein by means of the coisotropic calculus. In fact, it is also an original purpose of the construction of Dirac structures to describe Poisson reductions. Of course, the same conclusion can be obtained from all of other approaches. But, anyway, we wish to illuminate more geometric pictures and algebraic relations behind the Poisson reduction in order to construct a unied framework for its various generalizations (e.g., (1), (4), (8), (11) and (12)) by use of the theory of Dirac structure, which has been shown to be a powerful tool as well as a beautiful theory.

Abstract:In this paper the notion of Dirac structure in finite dimension is extended to the convenient setting. In particular, we introduce the notion of partial Dirac structure on convenient Lie algebroids and manifolds. We then look for those structures whose classical geometrical results in finite dimension can be extended to this infinite dimensional context. Finally, we are interested in the projective and direct limits of such structures.

Abstract:A sufficient and necessary condition is given for the action of the quotient of a Poisson-Lie group G on the quotient of a Poisson G-space P to be a Poisson action, where both the Poisson structures on the quotient group and the quotient manifold are induced by Dirac structures. The left invariant Dirac structure and the left invariant tensor descriptions of Poisson homogeneous spaces are proved to be equivalent.

Abstract:We characterize the Dirac structures that are parallel with respect to Gualtieri's canonical connection of a generalized Riemannian metric. On the other hand, we discuss Dirac structures that are images of generalized tangent structures. These structures turn out to be Dirac structures that, if seen as Lie algebroids, have a symplectic structure. Particularly, if compatibility with a generalized Riemannian metric is required, the symplectic structure is of the Kaehler type.

Abstract:We construct an analogue of Dirac’s reduction for an arbitrary local or non-local Poisson bracket in the general setup of non-local Poisson vertex algebras. This leads to Dirac’s reduction of an arbitrary non-local Poisson structure. We apply this construction to an example of a generalized Drinfeld–Sokolov hierarchy.

Abstract:We develop a general procedure for reduction along strong Dirac maps, which are a broad generalization of Poisson momentum maps. We recover a large number of familiar constructions in Poisson and quasi-Poisson geometry, and we introduce new examples of Poisson, quasi-Poisson, and Dirac reduced structures. In particular, we obtain quasi-Poisson analogues of several classes of spaces that are studied in geometric representation theory.

Abstract:The notions of \emph{Poisson Lie group} and \emph{Poisson homogeneous space} are extended to the Dirac category. The theorem of Drinfel$'$d (\cite{Drinfeld93}) on the one-to-one correspondence between Poisson homogeneous spaces of a Poisson Lie group and a special class of Lagrangian subalgebras of the Lie bialgebra associated to the Poisson Lie group is proved to hold in this more general setting.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to establish a connection between various objects such as dynamical r-matrices, Lie bialgebroids, and Lagrangian subalgebras. Our method relies on the theory of Dirac structures and Courant algebroids. In particular, we give a new method of classifying dynamical r-matrices of simple Lie algebras g, and prove that dynamical r-matrices are in one-one correspondence with certain Lagrangian subalgebras of g circle plus g.

Abstract:We present a framework for the reduction of various geometric structures extending the classical coisotropic Poisson reduction. For this we introduce constraint manifolds and constraint vector bundles. A constraint Serre-Swan theorem is proven, identifying constraint vector bundles with certain finitely generated projective modules, and a Cartan calculus for constraint differentiable forms and multivector fields is introduced. All of these constructions will be shown to be compatible with reduction. Finally, we apply this to obtain a reduction procedure for Lie (bi-)algebroids and Dirac manifolds.

A fixed-point formula for Dirac operators on Lie groupoids

Abstract:We study equivariant families of Dirac operators on the source fibers of a Lie groupoid with a closed space of units and equipped with an action of an auxiliary compact Lie group. We use the Getzler rescaling method to derive a fixed-point formula for the pairing of a trace with the K-theory class of such a family. For the pair groupoid of a closed manifold, our formula reduces to the standard fixed-point formula for the equivariant index of a Dirac operator. Further examples involve foliations and manifolds equipped with a normal crossing divisor.

Abstract:Omni-Lie algebroids are generalizations of Alan Weinstein's omni-Lie algebras. A Dirac structure in an omni-Lie algebroid 𝔇E ⊕ 𝔍E is necessarily a Lie algebroid together with a representation on E. We study the geometry underlying these Dirac structures in the light of reduction theory. In particular, we prove that there is a one-to-one correspondence between reducible Dirac structures and projective Lie algebroids in [Formula: see text]; we establish the relation between the normalizer NL of a reducible Dirac structure L and the derivation algebra Der (b (L)) of the projective Lie algebroid b(L); we study the cohomology group H •(L, ρL) and the relation between NL and H 1(L, ρL); we describe Lie bialgebroids using the adjoint representation; we study the deformation of a Dirac structure L, which is related with H 2(L, ρL).

Abstract:A Dirac structure on a vector bundle V is a maximal isotropic subbundle E of the direct sum of V with its dual. We show how to associate to any Dirac structure a Dixmier-Douady bundle A, that is, a Z/2Z-graded bundle of C*-algebras with typical fiber the compact operators on a Hilbert space. The construction has good functorial properties, relative to Morita morphisms of Dixmier-Douady bundles. As applications, we show that the `spin' Dixmier-Douady bundle over a compact, connected Lie group (as constructed by Atiyah-Segal) is multiplicative, and we obtain a canonical `twisted Spin-c-structure' on spaces with group valued moment maps.

Abstract:Consider a compact torsion free CR manifold $X$ and assume that $X$ admits a compact CR Lie group action $G$. Let $L$ be a $G$-equivariant rigid CR line bundle over $X$. It seems natural to consider the space of $G$-invariant CR sections in the high tensor powers as quantization space, on which a certain weighted $G$-invariant Fourier-Szegő operator projects. Under certain natural assumptions, we show that the group invariant Fourier-Szegő projector admits a full asymptotic expansion. As an application, if the tensor power of the line bundle is large enough, we prove that quantization commutes with reduction.

Abstract:Given a pair of (real or complex) Lie algebroid structures on a vector bundle $A$ (over $M$) and its dual $A^*$, and a line bundle $\module$ such that $\module\otimes\module=(\wedge^{\TOP} A^*\otimes\wedge^{\TOP} T^*M)$, there exist two canonically defined differential operators $\bdees$ and $\bdel$ on $\sections{\wedge A\otimes\module}$. We prove that the pair $(A,A^*)$ constitutes a Lie bialgebroid if, and only if, the square of $\bdirac =\bdees+\bdel$ is the multiplication by a function on $M$. As a consequence, we obtain that the pair $(A,A^*)$ is a Lie bialgebroid if, and only if, $\bdirac$ is a Dirac generating operator as defined by Alekseev & Xu \cite{AlekseevXu}. Our approach is to establish a list of new identities relating the Lie algebroid structures on $A$ and $A^*$ (Theorem \ref{Thm:C}).

Abstract:We show performing general "0-brane reduction" along an arbitrary fixed direction in space–time and applied to the starting point of minimal, off-shell 4D, N = 1 irreducible supermultiplets, yields adinkras whose adjacency matrices are among some of the special cases proposed by Kuznetsova, Rojas and Toppan. However, these more general reductions also can lead to "Garden Algebra" structures beyond those described in their work. It is also shown that for light-like directions, reduction to the 0-brane breaks the equality in the number of fermions and bosons for dynamical theories. This implies that light-like reductions should be done instead to the space of 1-branes or equivalently to the worldsheet.

Abstract:In his study of Dirac structures, a notion which includes both Poisson structures and closed 2-forms, T. Courant introduced a bracket on the direct sum of vector fields and 1-forms. This bracket does not satisfy the Jacobi identity except on certain subspaces. In this paper we systematize the properties of this bracket in the definition of a Courant algebroid. This structure on a vector bundle E --> M, consists of an antisymmetric bracket on the sections of E whose "Jacobi anomaly" has an explicit expression in terms of a bundle map E --> TM and a field of symmetric bilinear forms on E. When M is a point, the definition reduces to that of a Lie algebra carrying an invariant nondegenerate symmetric bilinear form. For any Lie bialgebroid (A, A*) over M (a notion defined by Mackenzie and Xu), there is a natural Courant algebroid structure on A + A* which is the Drinfel'd double of a Lie bialgebra when M is a point. Conversely, if A and A* are complementary isotropic subbundles of a Courant algebroid E, closed under the bracket (such a bundle, with dimension half that of E, is called a Dirac structure), there is a natural Lie bialgebroid structure on (A, A*) whose double is isomorphic to E. The theory of Manin triples is thereby extended from Lie algebras to Lie algebroids. Our work gives a new approach to bihamiltonian structures and a new way of combining two Poisson structures to obtain a third one. We also take some tentative steps toward generalizing Drinfel'd's theory of Poisson homogeneous spaces from groups to groupoids.
