Abstract:Cao Wenxuan's works are a typical representative of "going out" in Chinese children's literature. In April 2016, Cao Wenxuan won the Hans Christian Andersen Award, the highest award for children's literature in the world. This achievement is closely related to the translator's translation ability. This paper takes the English translation of Bronze and Sunflower by Cao Wenxuan (translator Helen Wang) as the research object, and aims to explore the translation strategies suitable for the localization of Bronze and Sunflower, which can be divided into three aspects:landscape description,folk poetry,eastern sensibility.This paper explores the advantages and disadvantages of the English translation of Bronze and Sunflower, and provides a new perspective and possibility for the English translation of Chinese children's literature.

Abstract:Xiao Hong is one of the four most talented women of the Republic of China in the modern era, and is known as “the goddess of literature” of the 1930s. Xiao Hong can be said to be a female writer with a unique artistic style at that time. In terms of literary creation, her works contain a mixture of sad and happy emotional tone as well as a rigid and soft language style. Xiao Hong’s writing is fresh and natural because she believed in beauty even though she was traumatized. Xiao Hong’s works are mostly self-referential, and her way of writing is unique in that she does not write in the usual way of thinking, but describes everything she is familiar with in an extremely natural and unfamiliar language. She refuses to be mediocre and always stands alone. With her profound understanding of world affairs, she has created a moving flower in the mud of the poor feudal north.

Abstract:Camel Xiangzi has rich connotations as far as its text is concerned.Its aesthetics in narrative is different from traditional novels.The work concentrated on the three times of ups and downs of Qiangzi's rickshaw purchase and pursuit of love.That is to say,Xiangzi underwent three times of ups and downs in physical and mental world,which was how his tragic life came to be.It was the incarnation of Lao She's pessimistic consciousness and fatalism.Hence,we can see that Lao She had penetrated into the deep sense of human nature in terms of reflections of nationalism,in which he made explorations of life from ontological viewpoint.The superorganic aesthetics of his works implies Lao She's innovation in novel creation and his exquisite knowledge of Western and Chinese cultures,on which the new narrative guidelines of literature narration was formed,i.e.,"the mental literature" of "mutual use of humans and things".

Abstract:The poetic characteristics of novels refer to the literary stylistic characteristics and the aesthetic characteristics manifested in the novels' narration that constitutes the totality of spiritual characteristics in the whole narration. This article outlined the poetic meanings of natural scenery description in both Chinese classical and modern novels. From the mixed poem language to the fusion of poetic narration, the poetic meaning of novels constituted complexities, which is accompanied by the literary stylistic changes and the spiritual vicissitudes of narrators. In classical novels, the fusion of natural scenery description displayed literary style evolution of novels. In modern novels, natural scenery description has improved so much as to be the specimen in the narrative modernization of the subject's consciousness after the May Fourth Movement.

Translation Skills of Children’s Literature from the Perspective of Reception Theory: A Case Study of Bronze and Sunflower

Abstract:With the development of society and the prosperity of Chinese literature, as a part of China’s soft power, Chinese chil-dren literature is faced with the problem of international dissemination. The English version of Cao Wenxuan’s Bronze and Sunflower won Hans Christian Andersen Award, the top award of children’s literature, which is a successful example of such dissemina-tion. Therefore, the Chinese-English translation skills employed are worth studying. This paper aims to analyze the skills used to inthe translation of short clauses, reiterative locution, simile, parallelism and dingzhen from the perspective of reception theory. It isfound that by using such translation skills as omission, alliteration, repetition of prepositions and pronouns, and literal translation,the translator preserves and recreates the effect of the original text in ways that are more acceptable and idiomatic for the targetreader.

Abstract:Since the very initial stage of his creative writing Shen Congwen's consciousness of the and his theoretical ideas were intertwined with each other,presenting a paradoxical relationship in the later course of his narrative career.As a stylist,his orientation is revealed in his inner paradoxical vision of the narrative model and conceptual theories of the novel.In the early 1930s his maturity is found in his conscious and deep construction of the story-telling context.His consciousness of the context is,in the meantime,embodied in his consciousness of the novel.Therefore his creative writing exerts not only in the gradual progress of evolution from the pattern of to the mode of modern fiction,but also a hard exploration of the narrative meaning.Finally with his consciousness of narration,he transcends the dichotomy of story and fiction,and comes to the some personal identity.An examination of his creative work in the 1930s and 1940s,brings light to the process of how a country man breaks through into the city,gradually turning into a modern lonely metropolitan man in the university system,and at last completing the symbolic transformation from the story-teller into self-annihilation.

Abstract:As part of Existential Poetry,Yongshi Poetry,which is affected by social and cultural factors in its development process,shows different characteristics in different times.In Tang Dynasty,people's desire to build private gardens and their way of life resulting from it changed Yongshi Poetry both in form and in content.In Yongshi Poetry more attention was paid to depicting the shape of rocks and the abstract aesthetic which symbolize mountains and forests.In return,appreciating and praising rocks also exerted strong cultural impact upon garden construction and rock-appreciating culture,thus not only forming the aesthetic tradition of creating a forest realm by stacking stones and building up mountains,but aslo exerting a profound and far-reaching influence upon the landscaping of gardens which attaches much importance to the impressionistic approach and upon the idea of landscaping gardens about true and false.The formation and development of appreciating garden stones and Yongshi Poems which eulogize rocks represent a process of influencing and promoting each other.
