Abstract:In [Tame_quivers_and_affine_bases_I], we give a Ringel-Hall algebra approach to the canonical bases in the symmetric affine cases. In this paper, we extend the results to general symmetrizable affine cases by using Ringel-Hall algebras of representations of a valued quiver. We obtain a bar-invariant basis $\mathbf{B}'=\{C(\mathbf{c},t_\lambda)|(\mathbf{c},t_\lambda)\in\mathcal{G}^a\}$ in the generic composition algebra $\mathcal{C}^*$ and prove that $\mathcal{B}'=\mathbf{B}'\sqcup(-\mathbf{B}')$ coincides with Lusztig's signed canonical basis $\mathcal{B}$. Moreover, in type $\tilde{B}_n,\tilde{C}_n$, $\mathbf{B}'$ is the canonical basis $\mathbf{B}$.

Abstract:In a recent paper I defined a new basis for the Grothendieck group of unipotent representations of an almost simple Chevalley group over a finite field. The definition for classical types was different from that for exceptional types. In this paper we reconcile the two definitions.

Abstract:For quantum group of affine type, Lusztig gave an explicit construction of the affine canonical basis by simple perverse sheaves. In this paper, we construct a bar-invariant basis by using a PBW basis arising from representations of the corresponding tame quiver. We prove that this bar-invariant basis coincides with Lusztig's canonical basis and obtain a concrete bijection between the elements in theses two bases. The index set of these bases is listed orderly by modules in preprojective, regular non-homogeneous, preinjective components and irreducible characters of symmetric groups. Our results are based on the work of Lin-Xiao-Zhang and closely related with the work of Beck-Nakajima. A crucial method in our construction is a generalization of that by Deng-Du-Xiao.

Abstract:In 2012 Raghavan, Samuel, and Subrahmanyam showed that the Kazhdan--Lusztig basis for the Iwahori--Hecke algebra in type A provides a ``canonical'' basis for the centraliser algebra of the Schur algebra acting on tensor space. In 2022 the second author found a similar result for the centraliser of the partition algebra acting on the same tensor space. Each basis is indexed by permutations. We exploit these bases to show that the linear decomposition of an arbitrary invariant (in either centraliser algebra) depends integrally on its entries, and describe combinatorial rules that pick out minimal sets of such entries.

Abstract:The dual basis of the canonical basis of the modified quantized enveloping algebra is studied, in particular for type A. The construction of a basis for the coordinate algebra of the n x n quantum matrices is appropriate for studying the multiplicative property. It is shown that this basis is invariant under multiplication by certain quantum minors including the quantum determinant. Then a basis of quantum SL (n) is obtained by setting the quantum determinant to one. This basis turns out to be equivalent to the dual canonical basis.

Abstract:We use the monomial basis theory developed by Deng and Du to present an elementary algebraic construction of the canonical bases for both the Ringel-Hall algebra of a cyclic quiver and the positive part U+ of the quantum affine sl(n). This construction relies on analysis of quiver representations and the introduction of a new integral PBW-like basis for the Lusztig Z[v, v(-1)] -form of U+.

Abstract:A complete 3-D Canonical Piecewise-Linear (CPWL) representation is developed constructively in this paper. The key to the representation is the establishment of the explicit functional formulation of basis function. It is proved that basis function is the most elementary generating function from which a fully general 3-D PWL function can be formulated. This CPWL representation laid a solid theoretical foundation for the development of a general nonlinear approximation, which can be seen as an extended version of the well-established Hinging Hyperplane Algorithm.

Abstract:Let H be a non semi-simple Ariki-Koike algebra. According to [18] and [14], there is a generalisation of Lusztig's a-function which induces a natural order (parametrised by a tuple m) on Specht modules. In some cases, Geck and Jacon have proved that this order makes unitriangular the decomposition matrix of H. The algebra H is then said to admit a "canonical basic set". We fully classify which values of m afford a canonical basic set for H and which do not. When this is the case, we describe these sets in terms of "twisted Uglov" or "twisted Kleshchev" multipartitions.

Abstract:We study parabolic aligned elements associated with the type-$B$ Coxeter group and the so-called linear Coxeter element. These elements were introduced algebraically in (Mühle and Williams, 2019) for parabolic quotients of finite Coxeter groups and were characterized by a certain forcing condition on inversions. We focus on the type-$B$ case and give a combinatorial model for these elements in terms of pattern avoidance. Moreover, we describe an equivalence relation on parabolic quotients of the type-$B$ Coxeter group whose equivalence classes are indexed by the aligned elements. We prove that this equivalence relation extends to a congruence relation for the weak order. The resulting quotient lattice is the type-$B$ analogue of the parabolic Tamari lattice introduced for type $A$ in (Mühle and Williams, 2019).

On the action of the Weyl group on canonical bases

Abstract:We study representations of simply-laced Weyl groups which are equipped with canonical bases. Our main result is that for a large class of representations, the separable elements of the Weyl group $W$ act on these canonical bases by bijections up to lower-order terms. Examples of this phenomenon include the action of separable permutations on the Kazhdan--Lusztig basis of irreducible representations for the symmetric group, and the action of separable elements of $W$ on dual canonical bases of weight zero in tensor product representations of a Lie algebra. Our methods arise from categorical representation theory, and in particular the study of the perversity of Rickard complexes acting on triangulated categories.

Abstract:Let $k=\mathbb{C}(\!(\epsilon)\!)$ be the field of complex Laurent series. We use Galois descent techniques to show that the simple regular representations of the species of type $(1,\, 4)$ over $k$ are naturally parametrized by the closed points of $\mathrm{Spec}(k[x])\dot{\cup}\{1,\,2\}$. Moreover we provide weak normal forms for those representations. We use our representatives of the simple regular representations to describe the canonical algebras associated to the species of type (1, 4) over k. This suggest a model of those algebras in the sense of the work of Geiss, Leclerc and Schröer [GLS17] and [GLS20].

The complexity of class polynomial computation via floating point approximations

Abstract:We analyse the complexity of computing class polynomials, that are an important ingredient for CM constructions of elliptic curves, via complex floating point approximations of their roots. The heart of the algorithm is the evaluation of modular functions in several arguments. The fastest one of the presented approaches uses a technique devised by Dupont to evaluate modular functions by Newton iterations on an expression involving the arithmetic-geometric mean. It runs in time $O (|D| \log^5 |D| \log \log |D|) = O (|D|^{1 + \epsilon}) = O (h^{2 + \epsilon})$ for any $\epsilon > 0$, where $D$ is the CM discriminant and $h$ is the degree of the class polynomial. Another fast algorithm uses multipoint evaluation techniques known from symbolic computation; its asymptotic complexity is worse by a factor of $\log |D|$. Up to logarithmic factors, this running time matches the size of the constructed polynomials. The estimate also relies on a new result concerning the complexity of enumerating the class group of an imaginary-quadratic order and on a rigorously proven upper bound for the height of class polynomials.

A new look at Lie algebras

Abstract:We present a new look at description of real finite-dimensional Lie algebras. The basic element turns out to be a pair $(F,v)$ consisting of a linear mapping $F\in End(V)$ and its eigenvector $v$. This pair allows to build a Lie bracket on a dual space to a linear space $V$. This algebra is solvable. In particular, when $F$ is nilpotent, the Lie algebra is also nilpotent. We show that these solvable algebras are the basic bricks of the construction of all other Lie algebras. %Which allows, having a collection of pairs $(F_i,v_i)$, $i=1, \dots, n$, to construct any Lie algebra. Using relations between the Lie algebra, the Lie--Poisson structure and the Nambu bracket, we show that the algebra invariants (Casimir functions) are solutions of an equation which has a geometric sense. Several examples illustrate the importance of these constructions.

Abstract:In the present article, a basis of the coordinate algebra of the multi-parameter quantized matrix is constructed by using an elementary method due to Lusztig. The construction depends heavily on an anti-automorphism, the bar action. The exponential nature of the bar action is derived which provides an inductive way to compute the basis elements. By embedding the basis into the dual basis of Lusztig's canonical basis of $U_q(n^-)$, the positivity properties of the basis as well as the positivity properties of the canonical basis of the modified quantum enveloping algebra of type $A$, which has been conjectured by Lusztig, are proved.

In this paper, we show that the dual canonical basis of [math] (and base affine spaces) can be parametrized by semi-standard Young tableaux. Moreover, we give an explicit formula for every element in the dual canonical basis using the data of the corresponding semi-standard Young tableau. Abstract:We give a parametrization of square roots of the ideal class of the inverse different of rings defined by binary forms in terms of the orbits of a coregular representation. This parametrization, which can be construed as a new integral model of a ``higher composition law'' discovered by Bhargava and generalized by Wood, was the missing ingredient needed to solve a range of previously intractable open problems concerning distributions of class groups, Selmer groups, and related objects. For instance, in this paper, we apply the parametrization to bound the average size of the $2$-class group in families of number fields defined by binary $n$-ic forms, where $n \geq 3$ is an arbitrary integer, odd or even; in the paper [41], we applied it to prove that most integral odd-degree binary forms fail to primitively represent a square; and in the paper [11], joint with Bhargava and Shankar, we applied it to bound the second moment of the size of the $2$-Selmer group of elliptic curves.

Abstract:The method of differential equations in canonical form has proven a powerful tool for solving multiloop Feynman integrals. In this note we test this procedure away from four dimensions. Namely, we consider the simple example of a massless doublebox, expanded in dimensional regularization around six dimensions. We achieve a canonical form for the relevant master integrals and solve them in terms of harmonic polylogarithms up to transcendental order 9. The integral basis of uniform transcendentality requires increasing indices of propagators. According to the standard graphical jargon, this amounts to decorating the integrals with baubles, like on Christmas trees, or rather loops in this case. The results can be useful for studying amplitudes in six dimensions.
