Abstract:We develop a bar involution and canonical basis for every morphism space of the oriented skein category through a diagrammatic approach. In particular, our construction gives rise to Kazhdan-Lusztig type bases on quantized walled Brauer algebras.

Abstract:For quantum group of affine type, Lusztig gave an explicit construction of the affine canonical basis by simple perverse sheaves. In this paper, we construct a bar-invariant basis by using a PBW basis arising from representations of the corresponding tame quiver. We prove that this bar-invariant basis coincides with Lusztig's canonical basis and obtain a concrete bijection between the elements in theses two bases. The index set of these bases is listed orderly by modules in preprojective, regular non-homogeneous, preinjective components and irreducible characters of symmetric groups. Our results are based on the work of Lin-Xiao-Zhang and closely related with the work of Beck-Nakajima. A crucial method in our construction is a generalization of that by Deng-Du-Xiao.

Abstract:Expanding the classical work of Kazhdan-Lusztig, we construct a bar involution and canonical bases on the $q$-Brauer algebra introduced by Wenzl. We define explicit actions of the $q$-Brauer algebra on the tensor spaces, and formulate $\imath$Schur dualities between the $q$-Brauer algebra and the $\imath$quantum groups of type AI and AII respectively.

Skein Categories in Non-semisimple Settings

Abstract:We introduce a version of skein categories which depends on a tensor ideal in a ribbon category, thereby extending the existing theory to the setting of non-semisimple TQFTs. We obtain modified notions of skein algebras of surfaces and skein modules of 3-cobordisms for non-semisimple ribbon categories. We prove that these skein categories built from ideals coincide with factorization homology, shedding new light on the similarities and differences between the semisimple and non-semisimple settings. As a consequence, we get a skein-theoretic description of factorization homology for a large class of balanced braided categories in Pr, precisely all those which are expected to induce an oriented categorified 3-TQFT.

Abstract:We use the monomial basis theory developed by Deng and Du to present an elementary algebraic construction of the canonical bases for both the Ringel-Hall algebra of a cyclic quiver and the positive part U+ of the quantum affine sl(n). This construction relies on analysis of quiver representations and the introduction of a new integral PBW-like basis for the Lusztig Z[v, v(-1)] -form of U+.

Abstract:Motivated by an indecomposability criterion of Xun Lin for the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on a smooth projective variety $X$, we study the paracanonical base locus of $X$, that is the intersection of the base loci of $\omega_X \otimes P_{\alpha}$, for all $\alpha \in \mathrm{Pic}^0 X$. We prove that this is equal to the relative base locus of $\omega_X$ with respect to the Albanese morphism of $X$. As an application, we get that bounded derived categories of Hilbert schemes of points on certain surfaces do not admit non-trivial semi-orthogonal decompositions. We also have a consequence on the indecomposability of bounded derived categories in families. Finally, our viewpoint allows to unify and extend some results recently appearing in the literature.

Abstract:In [Tame_quivers_and_affine_bases_I], we give a Ringel-Hall algebra approach to the canonical bases in the symmetric affine cases. In this paper, we extend the results to general symmetrizable affine cases by using Ringel-Hall algebras of representations of a valued quiver. We obtain a bar-invariant basis $\mathbf{B}'=\{C(\mathbf{c},t_\lambda)|(\mathbf{c},t_\lambda)\in\mathcal{G}^a\}$ in the generic composition algebra $\mathcal{C}^*$ and prove that $\mathcal{B}'=\mathbf{B}'\sqcup(-\mathbf{B}')$ coincides with Lusztig's signed canonical basis $\mathcal{B}$. Moreover, in type $\tilde{B}_n,\tilde{C}_n$, $\mathbf{B}'$ is the canonical basis $\mathbf{B}$.

Braiding on complex oriented Soergel bimodules

Abstract:In this note, we study U(n) Soergel bimodules in the context of stable homotopy theory. We define the $(\infty, 1)$-category $\mathrm{SBim}_E(n)$ of $E$-valued U(n) Soergel bimodules, where $E$ is a connective $\mathbb{E}_\infty$-ring spectrum, and assemble them into a monoidal locally additive $(\infty, 2)$-category $\mathrm{SBim}_E$. When $E$ has a complex orientation, we then construct a braiding, i.e. an $\mathbb{E}_2$-algebra structure, on the universal locally stable $(\infty, 2)$-category $\mathrm{K}^b_{\mathrm{loc}}(\mathrm{SBim}_E)$ associated to $\mathrm{SBim}_E$. Along the way, we also prove spectral analogs of standard splittings of Soergel bimodules. This is a topological generalization of the type $A$ Soergel bimodule theory developed in a previous paper.

Abstract:The Hecke algebras for all symmetric groups taken together form a braided monoidal category that controls all quantum link invariants of type A and, by extension, the standard canon of topological quantum field theories in dimension 3 and 4. Here we provide the first categorification of this Hecke braided monoidal category, which takes the form of an $\mathbb{E}_2$-monoidal $(\infty,2)$-category whose hom-$(\infty,1)$-categories are $k$-linear, stable, idempotent-complete, and equipped with $\mathbb{Z}$-actions. This categorification is designed to control homotopy-coherent link homology theories and to-be-constructed topological quantum field theories in dimension 4 and 5.

The Kauffman Bracket Skein Module at an irreducible representation

Abstract:In this paper, we study the Kauffman bracket skein module of closed oriented three-manifolds at a non-multiple-of-four roots of unity. Our main result establishes that the localization of this module at a maximal ideal, which corresponds to an irreducible representation of the fundamental group of the manifold, forms a one-dimensional free module over the localized unreduced coordinate ring of the character variety. We apply this by proving that the dimension of the skein module of a homology sphere with finite character variety, when the order of the root of unity is not divisible by $4$, is greater than or equal to the dimension of the unreduced coordinate ring of the character variety. This leads to a computation of the dimension of the skein module with coefficients in rational functions for homology spheres with tame universal skein module.

Monomial web basis for the SL(N) skein algebra of the twice punctured sphere

Abstract:For any non-zero complex number $q$, excluding finitely many roots of unity of small order, a linear basis for the $\mathrm{SL}(n)$ skein algebra of the twice punctured sphere is constructed. In particular, the skein algebra is a commutative polynomial algebra in $n-1$ generators, where each generator is represented by an explicit $\mathrm{SL}(n)$ web, without crossings, on the surface. This includes the case $q=1$, where the skein algebra is identified with the coordinate ring of the $\mathrm{SL}(n)$ character variety of the twice punctured sphere. The proof of both the spanning and linear independence properties of the basis depends on the so-called $\mathrm{SL}(n)$ quantum trace map, due originally to Bonahon-Wong in the case $n=2$. A consequence of the proof is that the polynomial algebra sits as a distinguished subalgebra of the Lê-Sikora $\mathrm{SL}(n)$ stated skein algebra of the annulus. We end by discussing the relationship with Fock-Goncharov duality.

Abstract:The sliced skein algebra of a closed surface of genus $g$ with $m$ punctures, $\mathfrak{S}=\Sigma_{g,m}$, is the quotient of the Kauffman bracket skein algebra $\mathcal{S}_\xi(\mathfrak{S})$ corresponding to fixing the scalar values of its peripheral curves. We show that the sliced skein algebra of a finite type surface is a domain if the ground ring is a domain. When the quantum parameter $\xi$ is a root of unity we calculate the center of the sliced skein algebra and its PI-degree. Among applications we show that any smooth point of a sliced character variety is a fully Azumaya point of the skein algebra $\mathcal{S}_\xi(\mathfrak{S})$. For any $SL_2(\mathbb{C})$--representation $\rho$ of the fundamental group of an oriented connected 3-manifold $M$ and a root of unity $\xi$ with odd $ord(\xi^2)$, we introduce the $\rho$-reduced skein module $\mathcal{S}_{\xi,\rho}(M)$. We show that $\mathcal{S}_{\xi,\rho}(M)$ has dimension 1 when $M$ is closed and $\rho$ is irreducible. We also show that if $\rho$ is irreducible the $\rho$-reduced skein module of a handlebody, as a module over the skein algebra of its boundary, is simple and has the dimension equal to the PI-degree of the skein algebra of its boundary.

Abstract:In previous work of the second- and third-named authors with Linhui Shen, cluster theory was used to construct wavefunctions for branes in threespace and conjecturally relate them to open Gromov-Witten invariants. This was done by defining a quantum Lagrangian subvariety of a quantum cluster variety, and mutating a simple solution to the defining equations in a distinguished seed. In this paper, we extend the construction to incorporate the skein-theoretic approach to open Gromov-Witten theory of Ekholm-Shende. In particular, we define a skein-theoretic version of cluster theory, including the groupoid of seeds and mutations and a skein-theoretic version of the quantum dilogarithm. We prove a pentagon relation in the skein of the closed torus in this context, and give strong evidence that its analogue holds for arbitrary surfaces. We propose face relations satisfied by the skein-theoretic wavefunction, prove their invariance under mutations, and show their solution is unique. We define a skein version of framings in the story, and use the novel cluster structure to compute wavefunctions in several examples. The skein approach incorporates moduli spaces of sheaves of higher microlocal rank and their quantizations.

Abstract:Let N be the moduli space of stable rank 2 vector bundles on a smooth projective curve of genus g>1 with fixed odd determinant. With Sebastian Torres, we previously found a semi-orthogonal decomposition of the bounded derived category of N into bounded derived categories of symmetric powers of the curve and, possibly, a phantom block. In this work, we employ the theory of weaving patterns to eliminate the possibility of a phantom, completing the proof of the decomposition conjectured by Narasimhan and, independently, by Belmans, Galkin, and Mukhopadhyay.

Abstract:We introduce a diagrammatic monoidal category, the spin Brauer category, that plays the same role for the spin and pin groups as the Brauer category does for the orthogonal groups. In particular, there is a full functor from the spin Brauer category to the category of finite-dimensional modules for the spin and pin groups. This functor becomes essentially surjective after passing to the Karoubi envelope, and its kernel is the tensor ideal of negligible morphisms. In this way, the spin Brauer category can be thought of as an interpolating category for the spin and pin groups. We also define an affine version of the spin Brauer category, which acts on categories of modules for the pin and spin groups via translation functors.

Abstract:Some filtrations of the tensor product of a highest weight module and a lowest weight module over quantum group $U_q(\mathfrak g)$ are constructed in \cite{LZ:2009} and one can use them to define some ideals of the modified quantized enveloping algebra. It is shown that the quotient algebras inherit canonical bases from the modified quantized enveloping algebra and are dual to the quantum coordinate ring defined by Kashiwara for symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebra $\mathfrak g$.

Abstract:In 2012 Raghavan, Samuel, and Subrahmanyam showed that the Kazhdan--Lusztig basis for the Iwahori--Hecke algebra in type A provides a ``canonical'' basis for the centraliser algebra of the Schur algebra acting on tensor space. In 2022 the second author found a similar result for the centraliser of the partition algebra acting on the same tensor space. Each basis is indexed by permutations. We exploit these bases to show that the linear decomposition of an arbitrary invariant (in either centraliser algebra) depends integrally on its entries, and describe combinatorial rules that pick out minimal sets of such entries.

Abstract:The dual basis of the canonical basis of the modified quantized enveloping algebra is studied, in particular for type A. The construction of a basis for the coordinate algebra of the n x n quantum matrices is appropriate for studying the multiplicative property. It is shown that this basis is invariant under multiplication by certain quantum minors including the quantum determinant. Then a basis of quantum SL (n) is obtained by setting the quantum determinant to one. This basis turns out to be equivalent to the dual canonical basis.

Abstract:Given a finite ribbon category, which is a particular case of a cyclic algebra over the operad of genus zero surfaces, there are two possibilities for an extension defined on all three-dimensional handlebodies: On the one hand, one can use the admissible skein module construction of Costantino-Geer-Patureau-Mirand. On other hand, by a construction of the authors using Costello's modular envelope, one can build a so-called ansular functor, a handlebody version of the notion of a modular functor. Unlike the admissible skein modules with their construction through the Reshetikhin-Turaev graphical calculus, the ansular functor is defined purely through a universal property. In this note, we prove the widely held expectation that these constructions are related by giving an isomorphism between them, with the somewhat surprising subtlety that we need to include consistently on one of the sides an additional boundary component labeled by the distinguished invertible object of Etingof-Nikshych-Ostrik. In other words, the constructions agree on handlebodies up to a `background charge' that becomes trivial in the unimodular case. Our comparison result includes the handlebody group action as well as the skein algebra action.

Abstract:We extend some results of Bonahon, Bullock, Turaev and Wong concerning the skein algebras of closed surfaces to L^e's stated skein algebra associated to open surfaces. We prove that the stated skein algebra with deforming parameter +1 embeds canonically into the centers of the stated skein algebras whose deforming parameter is an odd root unity. We also construct an isomorphism between the stated skein algebra at +1 and the algebra of regular function of a generalization of the SL2-character variety of the surface. As a result, we associate to each isomorphism class of irreducible or local representations of the stated skein algebra, an invariant which is a point in the character variety.
