Abstract:It is proved, that the recently discussed Appell polynomials in Clifford algebras are the Fueter-Sce extension of the complex monomials z^k. Furthermore, it is shown, for which complex functions the Fueter-Sce extension and the extension method using Appell polynomials coincide.

Abstract:The Fueter-Sce theorem provides a procedure to obtain axially monogenic functions, which are in the kernel of generalized Cauchy-Riemann operator in $ \mathbb{R}^{n+1}$. This result is obtained by using two operators. The first one is the slice operator, which extends holomorphic functions of one complex variable to slice monogenic functions in $ \mathbb{R}^{n+1}$. The second one is a suitable power of the Laplace operator in $n+1$ variables. Another way to get axially monogenic functions is the generalized Cauchy-Kovalevskaya (CK) extension. This characterizes axial monogenic functions by their restriction to the real line. In this paper, using the connection between the Fueter-Sce map and the generalized CK-extension, we explicitly compute the actions $\Delta_{\mathbb{R}^{n+1}}^{\frac{n-1}{2}} x^k$, where $x \in \mathbb{R}^{n+1}$. The expressions obtained is related to a well-known class of Clifford-Appell polynomials. These are the building blocks to write a Taylor series for axially monogenic functions. Moreover, we focus on some elementary axially monogenic functions, where the action of the Fueter-Sce map and the generalized CK-extension coincide. In order to get algebraic relations between the elementary functions, as in complex analysis, we define a new product between axially monogenic functions. By using the connections between the Fueter-Sce map and the generalized CK extension we characterize the range and the kernel of the Fueter-Sce map. Furthermore, we focus on studying the Clifford-Appell-Fock space and the Clifford-Appell-Hardy space. Finally, using the polyanalytic Fueter-Sce theorems we obtain a new family of polyanalytic monogenic polynomials, which extends to higher dimensions the Clifford-Appell polynomials.

Abstract:Tnis paper deals with some special integral transforms in the setting of quaternionic valued slice polyanalytic functions. In particular, using the polyanalytic Fueter mappings it is possible to construct a new family of polynomials which are called the generalized Appell polynomials. Furthermore, the range of the polyanalytic Fueter mappings on two different polyanalytic Fock spaces is characterized. Finally, we study the polyanalytic Fueter-Bargmann transforms.

Abstract:In this paper we start the study of Schur analysis for Cauchy–Fueter regular quaternionic-valued functions, i.e. null solutions of the Cauchy–Fueter operator in . The novelty of the approach developed in this paper is that we consider axially regular functions, i.e. functions spanned by the so-called Clifford-Appell polynomials. This type of functions arises naturally from two well-known extension results in hypercomplex analysis: the Fueter mapping theorem and the generalized Cauchy–Kovalevskaya (GCK) extension. These results allow one to obtain axially regular functions starting from analytic functions of one real or complex variable. Precisely, in the Fueter theorem two operators play a role. The first one is the so-called slice operator, which extends holomorphic functions of one complex variable to slice hyperholomorphic functions of a quaternionic variable. The second operator is the Laplace operator in four real variables, that maps slice hyperholomorphic functions to axially regular functions. On the other hand, the generalized CK-extension gives a characterization of axially regular functions in terms of their restriction to the real line. In this paper we use these two extensions to define two notions of rational function in the regular setting. For our purposes, the notion coming from the generalized CK-extension is the most suitable. Our results allow to consider the Hardy space, Schur multipliers and their relation with realizations in the framework of Clifford-Appell polynomials. We also introduce two notions of regular Blaschke factors, through the Fueter theorem and the generalized CK-extension.

On (self-) reciprocal Appell polynomials: Symmetry and Faulhaber-type polynomials

Abstract:The main purpose of this paper is to study generalized (self-) reciprocal Appell polynomials, which play a certain role in connection with Faulhaber-type polynomials. More precisely, we show for any Appell sequence when satisfying a reflection relation that the Appell polynomials can be described by Faulhaber-type polynomials, which arise from a quadratic variable substitution. Furthermore, the coefficients of the latter polynomials are given by values of derivatives of generalized reciprocal Appell polynomials. Subsequently, we show some applications to the Bernoulli and Euler polynomials. In the context of power sums the results transfer to the classical Faulhaber polynomials.

Peña Peña, On a sequence of monogenic polynomials satisfying the Appell condition whose first term is a non-constant function, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1102.1833" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1102.1833">arXiv:1102.1833</a>], in which we prove that for every monogenic polynomial $\mathbf{P}_k(x)$ of degree $k$ in $\mathbb R^{m+1}$ there exists a sequence of monogenic polynomials $\{M_n(x)\}_{n\ge0}$ satisfying the Appell condition such that $M_0(x)=\mathbf{P}_k(x)$.

Abstract:We prove characterizations of Appell polynomials by means of symmetric property. For these polynomials, we establish a simple linear expression in terms of Bernoulli and Euler polynomials. As applications, we give interesting examples. In addition, from our study, we obtain Fourier expansions of Appell polynomials. This result recovers Fourier expansions known for Bernoulli and Euler polynomials and obtains the Fourier expansions for higher order Bernoulli-Euler's one.

Abstract:This paper summarizes some known results about Appell polynomials and investigates their various analogs. The primary of these are the free Appell polynomials. In the multivariate case, they can be considered as natural analogs of the Appell polynomials among polynomials in non-commuting variables. They also fit well into the framework of free probability. For the free Appell polynomials, a number of combinatorial and "diagram" formulas are proven, such as the formulas for their linearization coefficients. An explicit formula for their generating function is obtained. These polynomials are also martingales for free Levy processes. For more general free Sheffer families, a necessary condition for pseudo-orthogonality is given. Another family investigated are the Kailath-Segall polynomials. These are multivariate polynomials, which share with the Appell polynomials nice combinatorial properties, but are always orthogonal. Their origins lie in the Fock space representations, or in the theory of multiple stochastic integrals. Diagram formulas are proven for these polynomials as well, even in the q-deformed case.

Abstract:Recently the authors presented a matrix representation approach to real Appell polynomials essentially determined by a nilpotent matrix with natural number entries. It allows to consider a set of real Appell polynomials as solution of a suitable first order initial value problem. The paper aims to confirm that the unifying character of this approach can also be applied to the construction of homogeneous Appell polynomials that are solutions of a generalized Cauchy-Riemann system in Euclidean spaces of arbitrary dimension. The result contributes to the development of techniques for polynomial approximation and interpolation in non-commutative Hypercomplex Function Theories with Clifford algebras.

Abstract:In this paper we begin the study of Schur analysis and de Branges-Rovnyak spaces in the framework of Fueter hyperholomorphic functions. The difference with other approaches is that we consider the class of functions spanned by Appell-like polynomials. This approach is very efficient from various points of view, for example in operator theory, and allows to make connections with the recently developed theory of slice polyanalytic functions. We tackle a number of problems: we describe a Hardy space, Schur multipliers and related results. We also discuss Blaschke functions, Herglotz multipliers and their associated kernels and Hilbert spaces. Finally, we consider the counterpart of the half-space case, and the corresponding Hardy space, Schur multipliers and Carathéodory multipliers.

Abstract:Given a lattice polytope $P$ and a prime $p$, we define a function from the set of primitive symplectic $p$-adic lattices to the rationals that extracts the $\ell$th coefficient of the Ehrhart polynomial of $P$ relative to the given lattice. Inspired by work of Gunnells and Rodriguez-Villegas in type $\mathsf{A}$, we show that these functions are eigenfunctions of a suitably defined action of the spherical symplectic Hecke algebra. Although they depend significantly on the polytope $P$, their eigenvalues are independent of $P$ and expressed as polynomials in $p$. We define local zeta functions that enumerate the values of these Hecke eigenfunctions on the vertices of the affine Bruhat--Tits buildings associated with $p$-adic symplectic groups. We compute these zeta functions by enumerating $p$-adic lattices by their elementary divisors and, simultaneously, one Hermite parameter. We report on a general functional equation satisfied by these local zeta functions, confirming a conjecture of Vankov.

A Cubic Transformation Formula for Appell-Lauricella Hypergeometric Functions over Finite Fields

Abstract:We define a finite-field version of Appell-Lauricella hypergeometric functions built from period functions in several variables, paralleling the development by Fuselier, et. al in the single variable case. We develop geometric connections between these functions and the family of generalized Picard curves. In our main result, we use finite-field Appell-Lauricella functions to establish a finite-field analogue of Koike and Shiga's cubic transformation for the Appell hypergeometric function $F_1$, proving a conjecture of Ling Long. We use our multivariable period functions to construct formulas for the number of $\mathbb{F}_p$-points on the generalized Picard curves. We also give some transformation and reduction formulas for the period functions, and consequently for the finite-field Appell-Lauricella functions.

Furthermore, by applying a general technique based upon the monomiality principle and quasi-monomial sets [see, for details, Ben Cheikh (Appl Math Comput 141:63–76, 2003), Dattoli (in: Cocolicchio, Dattoli, Srivastava (eds), Advanced special functions and applications (Proceedings of the Melfi School on advanced topics in mathematics and physics; Melfi, May 9–12), Aracne Editrice, Rome, 2000) and Steffensen (Acta Math 73:333–366, 1941)], the differential equations satisfied by the Bernoulli, Euler and Genocchi polynomials are derived.

Abstract:The paper considers the problem of representation and extension of Appell's hypergeometric functions by a special family of functions—branched continued fractions. Here, we establish new symmetric domains of the analytical continuation of Appell's hypergeometric function F2 with real and complex parameters, using their branched continued fraction expansions whose elements are polynomials in the space C2. To do this, we used a technique that extends the domain of convergence of the branched continued fraction, which is already known for a small domain, to a larger domain, as well as the PC method to prove that it is also the domain of analytical continuation. A few examples are provided at the end to illustrate this.

Abstract:In this paper we first offer an alternative approach to extend the original Fueter's Theorem in Dunkl-Clifford analysis to a version of the higher order case. Then this result is used to prove a generlized version of Fueter's Theorem with an extra homogeneous Dunkl-monogenic polynomial $P_n(x_0,\underline{x})$ in $\R_1^d$ instead of the classical factor $P_n(\underline{x})$ in $\R^d$.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a unified approach to matrix representations of different types of Appell polynomials. This approach is based on the creation matrix – a special matrix which has only the natural numbers as entries and is closely related to the well-known Pascal matrix. By this means, we stress the arithmetical origins of Appell polynomials. The approach also allows to derive, in a simplified way, the properties of Appell polynomials by using only matrix operations.
