Abstract:Black hole generalized p-brane solutions for a wide class of intersection rules are presented. The solutions are defined on a manifold that contains a product of n - 1 Ricci-flat internal spaces. They are defined up to moduli functions H_s = H_s(R) obeying a non-linear differential equations (equivalent to Toda-type equations) with certain boundary conditions imposed. Using conjecture on polynomial structure of H_s for intersections related to Lie algebras, new A_2-dyon solutions are obtained. Two examples of these A_2-dyon solutions, i.e. dyon in D = 11 supergravity with M2 and M5 branes intersecting at a point and dyon in Kaluza-Klein theory, are considered.

Abstract:We discuss dual formulations of D-brane intersections. The duality is between world volume field theories of different dimensionalities which both describe the same D-brane configuration but are valid in complementary regions of parameter space. We discuss the duality in terms of bion configurations involving D-strings orthogonally intersecting both D3-branes and D5-branes.

Abstract:An algebraic method for a general construction of intersecting p-brane solutions in diverse spacetime dimensions is discussed. An incidence matrix describing configurations of electric and magnetic fields is introduced. Intersecting p-branes are specified by solutions of a system of characteristic algebraic equations for the incidence matrix. This set of characteristic equations generalizes a single characteristic equation found before for a special "flower" ansatz. The characteristic equations admit solutions only for quantized values of scalar coupling parameters. A wide list of examples including solutions with regular horizons and non-zero entropy in D=11 and D=10 theories is presented.

Intersections of complex structures

Abstract:We study the sets of planes in an even dimensional real vector space $V$ which are simultaneously stabilised by a pair of complex structures on $V$. We completely describe these sets of planes for pairs of orthogonal complex structures. Generically, the number of such planes is finite. We compute this number for orthogonal complex structures and prove that it gives a lower bound for the number of planes simultaneously stabilised by a generic pair of complex structures on $V$.

An Intersection Matrix for Affine Hyperplane Arrangements

Abstract:For a real affine hyperplane arrangement, we define an integer intersection matrix with a natural $q$-deformation related to the intersections of bounded chambers of the arrangement. By connecting the integer matrix to a bilinear form of Schechtman-Varchenko, we show that there is a closed formula for its determinant that only depends on the combinatorics of the underlying matroid. We conjecture an analogous formula for its $q$-deformation. Our work also applies more generally in the setting of affine oriented matroids. Additionally, we give a representation-theoretic interpretation of our $q$-intersection matrix using Braden-Licata-Proudfoot-Websters's hypertoric category $\mathcal{O}$ (or more generally Kowalenko-Mautner's category $\mathcal{O}$ for oriented matroid programs). This paper is part of a broader program to categorify matroidal Schur algebras defined by Braden-Mautner.

Abstract:A candidate supergravity solution of intersecting D7-branes with a fivedimensional intersecting domain (an I5-brane) is presented. This displays an enhanced Poincare symmetry and supersymmetry away from the brane cores. We also explore the possibility of a relation between the intersection region of D7-branes and conifolds through F-theory.

Abstract:We investigate Z2 x Z2 orientifolds with group actions involving shifts. A complete classification of possible geometries is presented where also previous work by other authors is included in a unified framework from an intersecting D-brane perspective. In particular, we show that the additional shifts not only determine the topology of the orbifold but also independently the presence of orientifold planes. In the second part, we work out in detail a basis of homological three cycles on shift Z2 x Z2 orientifolds and construct all possible fractional D-branes including rigid ones. A Pati-Salam type model with no open-string moduli in the visible sector is presented.
B-brane Transport and Grade Restriction Rule for Determinantal Varieties

Abstract:We study autoequivalences of $D^{b}Coh(X)$ associated to B-brane transport around loops in the stringy Kähler moduli of $X$. We consider the case of $X$ being certain resolutions of determinantal varieties embedded in $\mathbb{P}^{d}\times G(k,n)$. Such resolutions have been modeled, in general, by nonabelian gauged linear sigma models (GLSM). We use the GLSM construction to determine the window categories associated with B-brane transport between different geometric phases using the machinery of grade restriction rule and the hemisphere partition function. In the family of examples analyzed the monodromies around phase boundaries enjoy the interpretation as loop inside link complements. We exploit this interpretation to find a decomposition of autoequivalences into simpler spherical functors and we illustrate this in two examples of Calabi-Yau 3-folds $X$, modeled by an abelian and nonabelian GLSM respectively. In additon we also determine explicitly the action of the autoequivalences on the Grothendieck group $K(X)$ (or equivalently, B-brane charges).

Moreover, we show that the recently derived Drinfeld twists of the involutive case are still admissible in the non‐involutive frame, and we identify the twisted ‐matrices and twisted coproducts. We observe, as in the involutive case, that the underlying quantum algebra is not a quasi‐triangular bialgebra, as one would expect, but a quasi‐triangular quasi‐bialgebra. The same applies to the quantum algebra of the twisted ‐matrices, contrary to the involutive case.

Abstract:Abstract Let {r\colon X^{2}\rightarrow X^{2}} be a set-theoretic solution of the Yang–Baxter equation on a finite set X . It was proven by Gateva-Ivanova and Van den Bergh that if r is non-degenerate and involutive, then the algebra {K\langle x\in X\mid xy=uv\text{ if }r(x,y)=(u,v)\rangle} shares many properties with commutative polynomial algebras in finitely many variables; in particular, this algebra is Noetherian, satisfies a polynomial identity and has Gelfand–Kirillov dimension a positive integer. Lebed and Vendramin recently extended this result to arbitrary non-degenerate bijective solutions. Such solutions are naturally associated to finite skew left braces. In this paper we will prove an analogue result for arbitrary solutions {r_{B}} that are associated to a left semi-brace B ; such solutions can be degenerate or can even be idempotent. In order to do so, we first describe such semi-braces and then prove some decompositions results extending those of Catino, Colazzo and Stefanelli.

Abstract:We propose a procedure of constructing new block designs starting from a given one by looking at the intersections of its blocks with various sets and grouping those sets according to the structure of the intersections. We introduce a symmetric relationship of friendship between block designs built on a set $V$ and consider families of block designs where all designs are friends of each other, the so-called friendly families. We show that a friendly family admits a partial ordering. Furthermore, we exhibit a map from the power set of $V$, partially ordered by inclusion, to a friendly family of a particular type which preserves the partial order.

On generalized black brane solutions in the model with multicomponent anisotropic fluid

Abstract:A family of spherically $O(d_0 + 1)$-symmetric solutions in the model with $m$-component anisotropic fluid is obtained. The metrics are defined on a manifold which contains a product of $n-1$ Ricci-flat ``internal'' spaces. The equation of state for any $s$-th component is defined by a vector $U^s = (U^s_i)$ belonging to $R^{n + 1}$ and obeying inequalities $U^s_1 = q_s > 0$, $s = 1, \ldots,m$. The solutions are governed by moduli functions $H_s$ which are solutions to (master) non-linear differential equations with certain boundary conditions imposed. It is shown that for coinciding $q_s = q$ there exists a subclass of solutions with a horizon when $q = 1, 2, \ldots$ and $U^s$-vectors correspond to certain semisimple Lie algebras. An extension of these solutions to block-orthogonal set of vectors $U^s$ with natural parameters $q_s$ coinciding inside blocks is also proposed. $q$-analogues of black brane/hole solutions are presented, e.g. generalising $M_2 \cap M_5$ dyonic solution in $D =11$ supergravity and Myers-Perry charged black hole solution in dimension $D = 2 + d_0$.

Abstract:Multidimensional gravitational model on the manifold $M = M_0 \times \prod_{i=1}^{n} M_i$, where $M_i$ are Einstein spaces ($i \geq 1$), is considered. The action contains $m = 2^n -1$ dilatonic scalar fields $\phi^I$ and $m$ (antisymmetric) forms $A^I$. When all fields and scale factors of the metric depend (essentially) on the point of $M_0$ and any $A^I$ is "proportional" to the volume form of submanifold $M_{i_1} \times ... \times M_{i_k}$, $1 \leq i_1 < ... < i_k \leq n$, the sigma-model representation is obtained. A family of "Majumdar-Papapetrou type" solutions are obtained, when all $M_{\nu}$ are Ricci-flat. A special class of solutions (related to the solution of some Diophantus equation on dimensions of $M_{\nu}$) is singled out. Some examples of intersecting p-branes (e.g. solution with seven Euclidean 2-branes for D = 11 supergravity) are considered.}

Abstract:Boyer, Gordon, and Watson have conjectured that an irreducible rational homology 3-sphere is an L-space if and only if its fundamental group is not left-orderable. Since Dehn surgeries on knots in $S^3$ can produce large families of L-spaces, it is natural to examine the conjecture on these 3-manifolds. Greene, Lewallen, and Vafaee have proved that all 1-bridge braids are L-space knots. In this paper, we consider three families of 1-bridge braids. First we calculate the knot groups and peripheral subgroups. We then verify the conjecture on the three cases by applying the criterion developed by Christianson, Goluboff, Hamann, and Varadaraj, when they verified the same conjecture for certain twisted torus knots and generalized the criteria of Clay and Watson and of Ichihara and Temma.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{F}$ be a family of $k$-dimensional subspaces of an $n$-dimensional vector space. Write $\mathcal{D}_{\mathcal{F}}(H;t)=\{F\in \mathcal{F}\colon \dim(F\cap H)\leq t \}$ for a subspace $H$. The family $\mathcal{F}$ is called $s$-almost $t$-intersecting if $|\mathcal{D}_{\mathcal{F}}(F;t)|\leq s$ for each $F\in \mathcal{F}$. In this note, we prove that $s$-almost $t$-intersecting families with maximum size are $t$-intersecting.

Bridge Multisections of Knotted Surfaces in $S^4$

Abstract:Bridge multisections are combinatorial descriptions of surface links in 4-space using tuples of trivial tangles. They were introduced by Islambouli, Karimi, Lambert-Cole, and Meier to study curves in rational surfaces. In this paper, we prove a uniqueness result for bridge multisections of surfaces in 4-space: we give a complete set of moves relating to any two multiplane diagrams of the same surface. This is done by developing a surgery operation on multiplane diagrams called band surgery. Another application of this surgery move is that any $n$-valent graph with an $n$-edge coloring is the spine of a bridge multisection for an unknotted surface. We also prove that any multisected surface in $S^4$ can be unknotted by finitely many band surgeries.
