Abstract:We study second order linear homogeneous differential equations a(x)y'' + b(x)y' + c(x)y = 0 with analytic coefficients in a neighborhood of a regular singularity in the sense of Frobenius. These equations are model for a number of natural phenomena in sciences and applications in engineering. We address questions which can be divided in the following groups: (i) Regularity of solutions. (ii) Analytic classification of the differential equation. (iii) Formal and differentiable rigidity. (iv) Synthesis and uniqueness of ODEs with a prescribed solution. Our approach is inspired by elements from analytic theory of singularities and complex foliations, adapted to this framework. Our results also reinforce the connection between classical methods in second order analytic ODEs and (geometric) theory of singularities. Our results, though of a clear theoretical content, are important in justifying many procedures in the solution of such equations.

Abstract:We establish higher regularity properties of solutions to fully nonlinear elliptic equations at interior critical points. The key novelty of our estimates lies in the fact that they yield smoothness properties that go beyond the inherent regularity limitations dictated by the heterogeneity of the problem. We explore various scenarios, revealing a plethora of improved regularity estimates. Notably, depending on the model's parameters, we establish estimates that transcend the natural regularity regime of the model, from $C^{0,\alpha_0}$ to $C^{1,\alpha_1}$ and further to $C^{2,\alpha_2}$, with the potential for even higher estimates.

Abstract:In [20], [21], we have established the existence and singularity structures of low regularity solutions to the semilinear generalized Tricomi equations in the degenerate hyperbolic regions and to the higher order degenerate hyperbolic equations, respectively. In the present paper, we shall be concerned with the low regularity solution problem for the semilinear mixed type equation ∂t2u−t2l−1Δu=f(t,x,u) with an initial data u(0,x)=φ(x)∈Hs(Rn) (0≤s<n2), where (t,x)∈R×Rn, n≥2, l∈N, f(t,x,u) is C1 smooth in its arguments and has compact support with respect to the variable x. Under the assumption of the subcritical growth of f(t,x,u) on u, we will show the existence and regularity of the considered solution in the mixed type domain [−T0,T0]×Rn for some fixed constant T0>0.

Abstract:We find an iteration technique and thus prove the optimal global regularity for the boundary value problem of a class of singular differential equations with strongly singular lower terms at the boundary. Abstract:The aim of this paper is to establish regularity for weak solutions to the nondiagonal quasilinear degenerate elliptic systems related to Hörmander's vector fields, where the coefficients are bounded with vanishing mean oscillation. We first prove $L^p$($p \ge 2$) estimates for gradients of weak solutions by using a priori estimates and a known reverse Hölder inequality, and consider regularity to the corresponding nondiagonal homogeneous degenerate elliptic systems. Then we get higher Morrey and Campanato estimates for gradients of weak solutions to original systems and Hölder estimates for weak solutions.

Equation (0.1) is related to proper affine hyperspheres. We will show the existence of solutions of (0.1) u∈C∞(Ω)∩C(Ω¯) via regularization method. Using the technique in [10], [12], we also obtain the optimal graph regularity of the solution of (0.1).

Abstract:In this paper, we obtain $C^{1}$ and $C^{1,1}$ regularity of $L^{n}$-viscosity solutions for general semilinear elliptic equation in nondivergence form under some more weaker assumptions, which generalize the result for equations with nonhomogeneous term $f(x)$ to $f(x,u)$. In particular, the nonhomogeneous term $f(x,u)$ is assumed optimally to satisfy unform Dini continuity condition in $u$ and modified $C^{1,1}$ Newtonian potential condition in $x$. For unbounded coefficients, if $a_{ij}$ is $C_{n}^{-1,1}$ at $x_{0}\in\Omega$ with small modulus, $b_{i}\in L^{q}(\Omega)$ for some $q>n$, the solution is $C^{1}$ at $x_{0}$. Furthermore, if $a_{ij},~b_{i}$ are Dini continuous at $x_{0}$, the solution is $C^{1,1}$ at $x_{0}$.

Abstract:We study the regularity of weak solution for the Navier-Stokes equations in the class L-infinity(BMO-1). It is proved that the weak solution in L-infinity(BMO-1) is regular if it satisfies a mild assumption on the vorticity direction, or it is axisymmetric.
