Abstract:Expository article on semisimple Lie groups of Hermitian type and their unitary representations known as the holomorphic discrete series. The realization of the symmetric spaces associated to the groups as bounded symmetric domains is described. The representations in question are defined by holomorphic induction and realized on spaces of vector-valued holomorphic functions on the domain. A key question is whether the induction process yields a non-zero space. It is answered by Harish-Chandra's condition, for which a complete proof is given.

Abstract:Let X be a symmetric graph of type k and order r, where k,r $\ge$ 2 are integers. In this paper we give explicite expressions of the horocyclic Abel transform and its dual, as well as their inverses X. We then derive the Plancherel measure for the Helgason-Fourier transform on G and give a version of the Kunze-Stein phenomenon thereon. Finally, we compute the solution to the shifted wave equation on X, using {À}sgeirsson's mean value theorem and the inverse dual Abel transform.

Horospherical dynamics in invariant subvarieties

Abstract:We consider the horospherical foliation on any invariant subvariety in the moduli space of translation surfaces. This foliation can be described dynamically as the strong unstable foliation for the geodesic flow on the invariant subvariety, and geometrically, it is induced by the canonical splitting of $\mathbb{C}$-valued cohomology into its real and imaginary parts. We define a natural volume form on the leaves of this foliation, and define horospherical measures as those measures whose conditional measures on leaves are given by the volume form. We show that the natural measures on invariant subvarieties, and in particular, the Masur-Veech measures on strata, are horospherical. We show that these measures are the unique horospherical measures giving zero mass to the set of surfaces with no horizontal saddle connections, extending work of Lindenstrauss-Mirzakhani and Hamenstaedt for principal strata. We describe all the leaf closures for the horospherical foliation.

Abstract:In this paper, we decompose the space of nearly holomorphic Hilbert-Siegel automorphic forms as representations of the adele group under certain assumptions. We also give an application for classical holomorphic Hilbert-Siegel modular forms. In particular, we show the surjectivity of the global Siegel operator for certain congruence subgroups with large weights.

On Decompositions of H-holomorphic functions into quaternionic power series

Abstract:Based on the full similarity in algebraic properties and differentiation rules between quaternionic (H-) holomorphic and complex (C-) holomorphic functions, we assume that there exists one holistic notion of a holomorphic function that has a H-representation in the case of quaternions and a C-representation in the case of complex variables. We get the essential definitions and criteria for a quaternionic power series convergence, adapting complex analogues to the quaternion case. It is established that the power series expansions of any holomorphic function in C- and H-representations are similar and converge with identical convergence radiuses. We define a H-analytic function and prove that every H-holomorphic function is H-analytic. Some examples of power series expansions are given.

Abstract:For the super-hyperbolic space in any dimension, we introduce the non-Euclidean Helgason–Fourier transform. We prove an inversion formula exhibiting residue contributions at the poles of the Harish-Chandra c-function, signalling discrete parts in the spectrum. The proof is based on a detailed study of the spherical superfunctions, using recursion relations and localization techniques to normalize them precisely, careful estimates of their derivatives, and a rigorous analysis of the boundary terms appearing in the polar coordinate expression of the invariant integral.

Abstract:Let be the ring of polynomial-valued holomorphic differential forms on complex n-space, referred to in physics as the superspace ring of rank n. The symmetric group acts diagonally on by permuting commuting and anticommuting generators simultaneously. We let be the ideal generated by -invariants with vanishing constant term and study the quotient of superspace by this ideal. We calculate the doubly-graded Hilbert series of and prove an 'operator theorem', which characterizes the harmonic space attached to in terms of the Vandermonde determinant and certain differential operators. Our methods employ commutative algebra results that were used in the study of Hessenberg varieties. Our results prove conjectures of N. Bergeron, Colmenarejo, Li, Machacek, Sulzgruber, Swanson, Wallach and Zabrocki.

Abstract:For every simple Hermitian Lie group $G$, we consider a certain maximal parabolic subgroup whose unipotent radical $N$ is either abelian (if $G$ is of tube type) or two-step nilpotent (if $G$ is of non-tube type). By the generalized Whittaker Plancherel formula we mean the Plancherel decomposition of $L^2(G/N,\omega)$, the space of square-integrable sections of the homogeneous vector bundle over $G/N$ associated with an irreducible unitary representation $\omega$ of $N$. Assuming that the central character of $\omega$ is contained in a certain cone, we construct embeddings of all holomorphic discrete series representations of $G$ into $L^2(G/N,\omega)$ and show that the multiplicities are equal to the dimensions of the lowest $K$-types.

Abstract:We characterize two classical types of conformality of a holomorphic self-map of the unit disk at a boundary point - existence of a finite angular derivative in the sense of Carathéodory and the weaker property of angle preservation - in terms of the non-tangential asymptotic behaviour of the hyperbolic distortion of the map. These characterizations are given purely with reference to the intrinsic metric geometry of the unit disk. In particular, we relate the classical Julia-Wolff-Carathéodory theorem with the case of equality in the Schwarz-Pick lemma at the boundary. We also provide an operator-theoretic characterization of the existence of a finite angular derivative based on Hilbert space methods. As an application we study the backward dynamics of discrete dynamical systems induced by holomorphic self-maps, and characterize the regularity of the associated pre-models in terms of a Blaschke-type condition involving the hyperbolic distortion along regular backward orbits.

Transcendence and normality of complex numbers via Hurwitz continued fractions

Abstract:We study the topological, dynamical, and descriptive set theoretic properties of Hurwitz continued fractions. Hurwitz continued fractions associate an infinite sequence of Gaussian integers to every complex number which is not a Gaussian rational. The resulting space of sequences of Gaussian integers $\Omega$ is not closed. By means of an algorithm, we show that $\Omega$ contains a natural subset whose closure $\overline{\mathsf{R}}$ encodes continued fraction expansions of complex numbers which are not Gaussian rationals. We prove that $(\overline{\mathsf{R}}, \sigma)$ is a subshift with a feeble specification property. As an application, we determine the rank in the Borel hierarchy of the set of Hurwitz normal numbers with respect to the complex Gauss measure. We also construct a family of complex transcendental numbers with bounded partial quotients.

Abstract:We consider a formal power series in one variable whose coefficients are holomorphic functions in a given multidimensional complex domain. Assume the following two conditions on the series. (C1) The restriction of the series at each point of a dense subset of the domain converges in an open disk of a fixed radius. (C2) The series is algebraic over the ring of holomophic functions on the direct product space of the domain and the disk. The main theorem of the present note is that the series defines a holomorphic function on the direct product space. We lso give an example where the condition (C2) is essentially necessary.

Abstract:This article is concerned with the geometry of germs of real analytic surfaces in $(\mathbb{C}^2,0)$ having an isolated Cauchy-Riemann (CR) singularity at the origin. These are perturbations of {\it Bishop quadrics}. There are two kinds of CR singularities stable under perturbation~: {\it elliptic} and {\it hyperbolic}. Elliptic case was studied by Moser-Webster \cite{moser-webster} who showed that such a surface is locally, near the CR singularity, holomorphically equivalent to {\it normal form} from which lots of geometric features can be read off. In this article we focus on perturbations of {\it hyperbolic} quadrics. As was shown by Moser-Webster \cite{moser-webster}, such a surface can be transformed to a formal {\it normal form} by a formal change of coordinates that may not be holomorphic in any neighborhood of the origin. Given a {\it non-degenerate} real analytic surface $M$ in $(\mathbb{C}^2,0)$ having a {\it hyperbolic} CR singularity at the origin, we prove the existence of a non-constant Whitney smooth family of connected holomorphic curves intersecting $M$ along holomorphic hyperbolas. This is the very first result concerning hyperbolic CR singularity not equivalent to quadrics. This is a consequence of a non-standard KAM-like theorem for pair of germs of holomorphic involutions $\{\tau_1,\tau_2\}$ at the origin, a common fixed point. We show that such a pair has large amount of invariant analytic sets biholomorphic to $\{z_1z_2=const\}$ (which is not a torus) in a neighborhood of the origin, and that they are conjugate to restrictions of linear maps on such invariant sets.

Abstract:We study the holomorphic projection of mixed mock modular forms involving sesquiharmonic Maass forms. As a special case, we numerically express the holomorphic projection of a function involving real quadratic class numbers multiplied by a certain theta function in terms of eta quotients. We also analyze certain shifted convolution $L$-series involving mock modular forms and bound certain shifted convolution sums.

Abstract:Using the theory of exterior differential systems, we study the existence of germ of pseudo-holomorphic disk in a real analytic hypersurface locally defined in a complex manifold equipped with J a real analytic almost complex structure. The integrable case in C n with J the multiplication by i has been intensively studied by several authors [DF], [DA1] and [DA2] for example. The non integrable case is drastically different essentially due to the following fact : in generic case, there is no J-invariant objects of dimension bigger than one. This simple observation leads to the non existence of some equivalents of Segree varieties or ideals of holomorphic functions which play a fundamental role in the complex case. Nevertheless in the almost complex case, we adopt the exterior differential system point of view of E.Cartan developed and clarified in [BCGGG].

It is shown that there exist holomorphic functions $w_1$ on $\{z\in C: 0<Im z <2 \alpha\}$ and $w_2$ on $\{z\in C: -2 \alpha<Im z<2 \alpha\}$ such that $w_1$ and $w_2$ have boundary values of modulus one on the real axis and satisfy the relation $w_1(z)=f(z-\alpha i)w_2(z-2 \alpha i)$ and $w_2(z+2 \alpha i)= \bar{f}(z+\alpha i)w_1(z)$ for $0<Im z<2$, where $\bar{f}(z):=\bar{f(\bar{z})}$. This leads to a "polar decomposition" $f(z)=u_f(z+\alpha i)g_f(z)$ of the function $f(z)$, where $u_f(z+\alpha i)$ and $g_f(z)$ are holomorphic functions for $-\alpha<Im z<\alpha$ such that $|u_f(x)|=1$ and $g_f(x)\ge 0$ a.e. on the real axis. Abstract:The $L_p$-Christoffel-Minkowski problem and the prescribed $L_p$-Weingarten curvature problem for convex hypersurfaces in Euclidean space are important problems in geometric analysis. In this paper, we consider their counterparts in hyperbolic space. For the horospherical $p$-Christoffel-Minkowski problem first introduced and studied by the second and third authors, we prove the existence of smooth, origin-symmetric, strictly horospherically convex solutions by establishing a new full rank theorem. We also propose the prescribed $p$-shifted Weingarten curvature problem and prove an existence result.

Abstract:We extend the notions of quantum harmonic analysis, as introduced in [48], to abelian phase spaces, by which we mean a locally compact abelian group endowed with a Heisenberg multiplier. In this way, we obtain a joint harmonic analysis of functions and operators for each such phase space. For all this, we spend significant extra effort to include also phase spaces which are not second countable. We obtain most results from [48] for these general phase spaces, up to Wiener's approximation theorem for operators. As an addition, we extend certain of those results (most notably Wiener's approximation theorem) to operators acting on certain coorbit spaces affiliated with the phase space.
