Abstract:Let $f$ be a holomorphic function on the strip $\{z\in C: -\alpha<Im z<\alpha\}, \alpha > 0$, belonging to the class $H(\alpha,-\alpha;\epsilon)$ defined below. It is shown that there exist holomorphic functions $w_1$ on $\{z\in C: 0<Im z <2 \alpha\}$ and $w_2$ on $\{z\in C: -2 \alpha<Im z<2 \alpha\}$ such that $w_1$ and $w_2$ have boundary values of modulus one on the real axis and satisfy the relation $w_1(z)=f(z-\alpha i)w_2(z-2 \alpha i)$ and $w_2(z+2 \alpha i)= \bar{f}(z+\alpha i)w_1(z)$ for $0<Im z<2$, where $\bar{f}(z):=\bar{f(\bar{z})}$. This leads to a "polar decomposition" $f(z)=u_f(z+\alpha i)g_f(z)$ of the function $f(z)$, where $u_f(z+\alpha i)$ and $g_f(z)$ are holomorphic functions for $-\alpha<Im z<\alpha$ such that $|u_f(x)|=1$ and $g_f(x)\ge 0$ a.e. on the real axis. As a byproduct, an operator representation of a $q$-deformed Heisenberg algebra is developed.
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper mainly explores the properties and decomposition of holomorphic functions in specific strips on the complex plane. Specifically, the paper attempts to solve the following problems:
1. **Decomposition of Holomorphic Functions**: Given a holomorphic function \(f\) on the strip \(\{z\in\mathbb{C}:-\alpha <\text{Im}(z)<\alpha\}\) belonging to the class \(H(\alpha,-\alpha;\epsilon)\), the paper proves that there exist two holomorphic functions \(w_1\) and \(w_2\) on the strips \(\{z\in\mathbb{C}:0 <\text{Im}(z)<2\alpha\}\) and \(\{z\in\mathbb{C}:-2\alpha <\text{Im}(z)<2\alpha\}\) respectively, such that the modulus of their boundary values on the real axis is 1 and they satisfy the relations:
\[
w_1(z)=f(z - \alpha i)w_2(z - 2\alpha i)
\]
\[
w_2(z + 2\alpha i)=\overline{f}(z + \alpha i)w_1(z)
\]
where \(\overline{f}(z):=f(\overline{z})\).
2. **Polar Decomposition**: Based on the above results, the paper further proves that \(f(z)\) can be decomposed as:
\[
f(z)=u_f(z + \alpha i)g_f(z)
\]
where \(u_f(z + \alpha i)\) and \(g_f(z)\) are holomorphic functions on the strip \(\{z\in\mathbb{C}:-\alpha <\text{Im}(z)<\alpha\}\) and satisfy \(|u_f(x)| = 1\) and \(g_f(x)\geq0\) almost everywhere.
3. **Operator Representation**: As a by - product, the paper also develops an operator representation of the \(q\)-deformed Heisenberg algebra. Specifically, the paper constructs three operators \(\rho(u)\), \(\rho(p)\), and \(\rho(x)\) which satisfy the defining relations of the \(q\)-deformed Heisenberg algebra on the Hilbert space \(H = L^2(\mathbb{R})\oplus L^2(\mathbb{R})\).
### Main Results
- **Theorem 1**: For positive real numbers \(\epsilon\) and \(\alpha\), and a function \(f\in H(\alpha,-\alpha;\epsilon)\), if the condition:
\[
\inf\{|f(x - \alpha i)|;x\in\mathbb{R}\}>0
\]
is satisfied, then there exist functions \(w_1\in H(2\alpha,0;\epsilon)\) and \(w_2\in H(2\alpha,-2\alpha;\epsilon)\) such that \(|w_1(x)| = |w_2(x)| = 1\) almost everywhere and satisfy the above relations. Moreover, if \(\tilde{w}_1\) and \(\tilde{w}_2\) also have these properties, then there exists a constant \(c\) with modulus 1 such that \(\tilde{w}_1(x)=cw_1(x)\) and \(\tilde{w}_2(x)=cw_2(x)\) almost everywhere.
- **Theorem 2**: Retaining the assumptions and notations in Theorem 1, define holomorphic functions \(u_f\) and \(g_f\) as follows:
\[
u_f(z)=w_1(z)w_2(z), \qu
