Abstract: Let $Z$ be a projective geometrically integral algebraic variety. This paper is concerned with estimating the number of rational points on $Z$ which have height at most $B$. The bounds obtained are uniform in varieties of fixed degree and fixed dimension, and are essentially best possible for varieties of degree at least six.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to estimate the number of rational points on algebraic varieties in projective space. Specifically, for any \( N \geq 2 \), let \( Z \subset \mathbb{P}^N \) be a geometrically irreducible algebraic variety with degree \( d \). The article focuses on the number \( N_Z(B) \) of \( \mathbb{Q} \)-rational points with height not exceeding \( B \). The main goal of the paper is to establish the following estimate: \[ N_Z(B) = O_{d,\varepsilon,N}(B^{\dim Z + \varepsilon}) \] which holds under the condition \( d \geq 6 \), where the implicit constant depends on \( d, \varepsilon \) and \( N \). To understand this problem more concretely, we can refer to Conjecture 1 and Conjecture 2 mentioned in the introduction part: **Conjecture 1** (proposed by Heath - Brown): For any \( \varepsilon > 0 \), assume that \( F \in \mathbb{Z}[X_0,\ldots,X_n] \) is an irreducible form with degree \( d \geq 2 \). Then we have: \[ N(F; B) = O_{d,\varepsilon,n}(B^{n - 1+\varepsilon}) \] **Conjecture 2**: For any \( \varepsilon > 0 \), assume that \( Z \subset \mathbb{P}^N \) is an irreducible variety with degree \( d \geq 2 \) and dimension \( m \). Then we have: \[ N_Z(B) = O_{d,\varepsilon,N}(B^{m+\varepsilon}) \] Through Theorem 1 and Theorem 3, the author proves that these two conjectures are actually equivalent and further improves the existing results. In particular, for the cases of \( d \geq 3 \) and \( m \geq 4 \), the author gives better estimates, thus providing stronger support for Conjecture 2. In summary, this paper aims to verify and improve the existing conjectures about the number of rational points on algebraic varieties through accurate estimates of these numbers, especially in the cases of high - dimension and high - degree.
