Abstract: We derive asymptotic information on the iterates of a Volterra convolution operator acting on L^p(0,1), subject to a mild smoothness condition on the kernel. In particular, an asymptotically equal sequence of rank 1 operators is obtained, leading to a simple asymptotic formula for the operator norms of the iterates.

Abstract:Let $2\leq p<\infty$ and $X$ be a complex infinite-dimensional Banach space. It is proved that if $X$ is $p$-uniformly PL-convex, then there is no nontrivial bounded Volterra operator from the weak Hardy space $\mathscr{H}^{\text{weak}}_p(X)$ to the Hardy space $\mathscr{H}^+_p(X)$ of vector-valued Dirichlet series. To obtain this, a Littlewood--Paley inequality for Dirichlet series is established.

Abstract:We consider one-dimensional stochastic Volterra equations with jumps for which we establish conditions upon the convolution kernel and coefficients for the strong existence and pathwise uniqueness of a non-negative càdlàg solution. By using the approach recently developed in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2302.07758" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2302.07758">arXiv:2302.07758</a>, we show the strong existence by using a nonnegative approximation of the equation whose convergence is proved via a variant of the Yamada--Watanabe approximation technique. We apply our results to Lévy-driven stochastic Volterra equations. In particular, we are able to define a Volterra extension of the so-called alpha-stable Cox--Ingersoll--Ross process, which is especially used for applications in Mathematical Finance.

Abstract:For every $\alpha \in (0,+\infty)$ and $p,q \in (1,+\infty)$ let $T_\alpha$ be the operator $L^p[0,1]\to L^q[0,1]$ defined via the equality $(T_\alpha f)(x) := \int_0^{x^\alpha} f(y) d y$. We study the norms of $T_\alpha$ for every $p$, $q$. In the case $p=q$ we further study its spectrum, point spectrum, eigenfunctions, and the norms of its iterates. Moreover, for the case $p=q=2$ we determine the point spectrum and eigenfunctions for $T^*_\alpha T_\alpha$, where $T^*_\alpha$ is the adjoint operator.

Stochastic Volterra Equations for the Local Times of Spectrally Positive Stable Processes

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the evolution dynamics of local times of a spectrally positive stable process in the spatial direction. The main results state that conditioned on the finiteness of the first time at which the local time at zero exceeds a given value, the local times at positive half line are equal in distribution to the unique solution of a stochastic Volterra equation driven by a Poisson random measure whose intensity coincides with the Lévy measure. This helps us to provide not only a simple proof for the Hölder regularity, but also a uniform upper bound for all moments of the Hölder coefficient as well as a maximal inequality for the local times. Moreover, based on this stochastic Volterra equation, we extend the method of duality to establish an exponential-affine representation of the Laplace functional in terms of the unique solution of a nonlinear Volterra integral equation associated with the Laplace exponent of the stable process.

Abstract:In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the subelliptic p -Poisson equation as in Carnot-Carathéodory spaces. In particular, introducing a suitable notion of differentiability, extend the celebrated result of Bhattacharya et al. (Rend Sem Mat Univ Politec Torino Fascicolo Speciale 47:15–68, 1989) and we prove that limits of such solutions solve in the sense of viscosity a hybrid first and second order PDE involving the -Laplacian and the Eikonal equation.

Abstract:This article is devoted to the extension of the theory of rough paths in the context of Volterra equations with possibly singular kernels. We begin to describe a class of two parameter functions defined on the simplex called Volterra paths. These paths are used to construct a so-called Volterra-signature, analogously to the signature used in Lyon's theory of rough paths. We provide a detailed algebraic and analytic description of this object. Interestingly, the Volterra signature does not have a multiplicative property similar to the classical signature, and we introduce an integral product behaving like a convolution extending the classical tensor product. We show that this convolution product is well defined for a large class of Volterra paths, and we provide an analogue of the extension theorem from the theory of rough paths (which guarantees in particular the existence of a Volterra signature). Moreover the concept of convolution product is essential in the construction of Volterra controlled paths, which is the natural class of processes to be integrated with respect to the driving noise in our situation. This leads to a rough integral given as a functional of the Volterra signature and the Volterra controlled paths, combined through the convolution product. The rough integral is then used in the construction of solutions to Volterra equations driven by Hölder noises with singular kernels. An example concerning Brownian noises and a singular kernel is treated

Asymptotic behavior of solutions to the extension problem for the fractional Laplacian on noncompact symmetric spaces

Abstract:This work deals with the extension problem for the fractional Laplacian on Riemannian symmetric spaces $G/K$ of noncompact type and of general rank, which gives rise to a family of convolution operators, including the Poisson operator. More precisely, motivated by Euclidean results for the Poisson semigroup, we study the long-time asymptotic behavior of solutions to the extension problem for $L^1$ initial data. In the case of the Laplace-Beltrami operator, we show that if the initial data is bi-$K$-invariant, then the solution to the extension problem behaves asymptotically as the mass times the fundamental solution, but this convergence may break down in the non bi-$K$-invariant case. In the second part, we investigate the long-time asymptotic behavior of the extension problem associated with the so-called distinguished Laplacian on $G/K$. In this case, we observe phenomena which are similar to the Euclidean setting for the Poisson semigroup, such as $L^1$ asymptotic convergence without the assumption of bi-$K$-invariance.

Abstract:We consider convolution-type stochastic Volterra equations with additive Hilbert-valued fractional Brownian motion, $0<H<1$. We find the weak solution to this stochastic Volterra equation, and study its stochastic integral part, the stochastic convolution, which we show to be mean-zero Gaussian. We develop an It\^o isometry for stochastic integrals with respect to a Hilbert-valued fractional Brownian motion, and use it to compute the covariance of the stochastic convolution. This formula, which uses fractional integrals and derivatives, generalizes the well-known formula from the case $H=1/2$.

Abstract:We study stochastic Volterra equations in Hilbert spaces driven by cylindrical Gaussian noise. We derive a mild formulation for the stochastic Volterra equation, prove the equivalence of mild and strong solutions, the existence and uniqueness of mild solutions, and study space-time regularity. Furthermore, we establish the stability of mild solutions in $L^q(\R_+)$, prove the existence of limit distributions in the Wasserstein $p$-distance with $p \in [1,\infty)$, and characterise when these limit distributions are independent of the initial state of the process despite the presence of memory. While our techniques allow for a general class of Volterra kernels, they are particularly suited for completely monotone kernels and fractional Riemann-Liouville kernels in the full range $\alpha \in (0,2)$.

Abstract:This work is devoted to studying asymptotic behaviors for Volterra type McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations with small noise. By applying the weak convergence approach, we establish the large and moderate deviation principles. In addition, we obtain the central limit theorem and find the Volterra integral equation satisfied by the limiting process, which involves the Lions derivative of the drift coefficient.

Stochastic Volterra Equations for Local Times of Spectrally Positive Levy Processes with Gaussian Components

Abstract:Following our previous work [68], this paper continues to investigate the evolution dynamics of local times of spectrally positive Levy processes with Gaussian components in the spatial direction. We first prove that conditioned on the finiteness of the first time at which the local time at zero exceeds a given value, local times at positive line are equal in law to the unique solution of a stochastic Volterra equation driven by a Gaussian white noise and two Poisson random measures with convolution kernel given in terms of the scale function. The existence and uniqueness of strong solution of the stochastic Volterra equation are also proved when the Levy measure has finite first moment. We then provide several equivalent representations and propose a flow in the local times by establishing a comparison principle for local times of Levy processes with various drifts or stopped when local times at zero exceed different given values. Armed with the stochastic Volterra equation, we also provide some properties of local times, including the uniform moment estimates, $(1/2-\varepsilon)$-Holder continuity and maximal inequality. By using the method of duality, we establish an exponential-affine representation of the Laplace functional in terms of the unique non-negative solution of a nonlinear Volterra equation associated with the Laplace exponent of the Levy process. This gives us another perspective on the evolution dynamics of local times in the spatial direction.

Abstract:In this paper, the numerical solution of two-dimensional linear Volterra integral equation by collocation and iterated collocation is considered. The asymptotic error expansion of the iterated collocation is obtained. We show that when piecewise polynomials of πp-1,q-1 are used, the iterated collocation solution admits an error expansion in powers of the step-size h and step-size k. For a special choice of the collocation point, the leading terms in the error expansion for iterated collocation contain only even powers of the stepsizes h and k, beginning with terms in h2p and k2q so that the Richardson extrapolation can be done. This will increase the accuracy of numerical solution greatly.

Abstract:This work is devoted to the analysis of the asymptotic behaviour of a parameter dependent quasilinear cooperative eigenvalue system when a parameter in front of some non-negative potentials goes to infinity. In particular we consider operators of $p$-Laplacian type. We prove that the eigenfunctions concentrate on the subdomains where those potentials vanish at the limit, while the eigenvalue approaches to an upper bound that will depend on those subdomains as well. We also show several properties for the unusual limiting problems obtained here.

Abstract:In this paper we present some limit theorems for power variation of Lévy semi-stationary processes in the setting of infill asymptotics. Lévy semi-stationary processes, which are a one-dimensional analogue of ambit fields, are moving average type processes with a multiplicative random component, which is usually referred to as volatility or intermittency. From the mathematical point of view this work extends the asymptotic theory investigated in [14], where the authors derived the limit theory for $k$th order increments of stationary increments Lévy driven moving averages. The asymptotic results turn out to heavily depend on the interplay between the given order of the increments, the considered power $p>0$, the Blumenthal--Getoor index $\beta \in (0,2)$ of the driving pure jump Lévy process $L$ and the behaviour of the kernel function $g$ at $0$ determined by the power $\alpha$. In this paper we will study the first order asymptotic theory for Lévy semi-stationary processes with a random volatility/intermittency component and present some statistical applications of the probabilistic results.

Abstract:In this article, some inequalities on convolution equations are presented firstly. The mean square stability of the zero solution of the impulsive stochastic Volterra equation is studied by using obtained inequalities on Liapunov function, including mean square exponential and non-exponential asymptotic stability. Several sufficient conditions for the mean square stability are presented. Results in this article indicate that not only the impulse intensity but also the time of impulse can influence the stability of the systems. Abstract:In this paper we develop a Malliavin-Skorohod type calculus for additive processes in the $L^0$ and $L^1$ settings, extending the probabilistic interpretation of the Malliavin-Skorohod operators to this context. We prove calculus rules and obtain a generalization of the Clark-Hausmann-Ocone formula for random variables in $L^1$. Our theory is then applied to extend the stochastic integration with respect to volatility modulated Lévy-driven Volterra processes recently introduced in the literature. Our work yields to substantially weaker conditions that permit to cover integration with respect, e.g. to Volterra processes driven by $\alpha$-stable processes with $\alpha < 2$. The presentation focuses on jump type processes.

Abstract:In this article we are concerned with characterising when solutions of perturbed linear stochastic Volterra summation equations are $p$-summable along with when their continuous time counterparts, perturbed linear stochastic Volterra integrodifferential equations are $p$-integrable. In the discrete case we find it necessary and sufficient that perturbing functions are $p$-summable in order to ensure paths of the discrete equation are $p$-summable almost surely, while in the continuous case it transpires one can have almost surely $p$-integrable sample paths even with non-integrable perturbation functions. For the continuous equation the main converse is clinched by considering an appropriate discretisation and applying results from the discrete case.
