Abstract:The defect engineering has become a promising strategy to tailor the specific surface area, energy band structure and photocatalytic properties of catalysts. Thus, a series of oxygen defect modified polyimide PI-NaHCO3 (1:1, 1:4, 1;8) containing triazine rings were synthesized via thermoset polymerization by introducing inorganic foaming agent NaHCO3 into the synthesis of classical PI. During the polymerization and washing process, a large amount of gas generated by NaHCO3 broke the amide bond connection in PI, resulting in the formation of oxygen defects. The experimental results indicate that after the introduction of oxygen defects, the CB of the material becomes more and more negative and the photoreduction ability is significantly enhanced. Photocurrent and photoluminescence experiments show that the introduction of oxygen defects greatly promotes the carrier separation. Among them, PI-NaHCO3 (1:4) showed the optimal photocatalytic activity in photocatalytic benzylamine oxidation and photocatalytic hydrogen evolution experiments. Under the irradiation of 420 nm LEDs (10 W), the conversion of benzylamine was up to almost 100% with excellent selectivity for the corresponding imine. This work provides a new way for the design of defective-based polyimide materials.
