Abstract:We construct a family of Lagrangian submanifolds in the complex sphere with a SO(n)-invariance property. Among them we find those which are special Lagrangian with respect with the Calabi-Yau structure defined by the Stenzel metric.

Abstract:In this paper we construct many examples of n-dimensionalWillmore Lagrangian submanifolds in the complex Euclidean space C n . We characterize them as the only Willmore Lagrangian submanifolds invariant under the action of SO(n). The mostimportant contribution of our construction is that it provides examplesof Willmore Lagrangian spheres in C n for all n ≥ 2.

Abstract:The n-dimensional complex hyperquadric is a compact complex algebraic hypersurface defined by the quadratic equation in the (n+1)-dimensional complex projective space, which is isometric to the real Grassmannmanifold of oriented 2-planes and is a compact Hermitian symmetric space of rank 2. In this paper, we study geometry of compact Lagrangian submanifolds in complex hyperquadrics from the viewpoint of the theory of isoparametric hypersurfaces in spheres. From this viewpoint we provide a classification theorem of compact homogeneous Lagrangian submanifolds in complex hyperquadrics by using the moment map technique. Moreover we determine the Hamiltonian stability of compact minimal Lagrangian submanifolds embedded in complex hyperquadrics which are obtained as Gauss images of isoparametric hypersurfaces in spheres with g(= 1, 2, 3) distinct principal curvatures.
Calabi-Yau Manifolds with Isolated Conical Singularities

Abstract:Let $X$ be a complex projective variety with only canonical singularities and with trivial canonical bundle. Let $L$ be an ample line bundle on $X$. Assume that the pair $(X,L)$ is the flat limit of a family of smooth polarized Calabi-Yau manifolds. Assume that for each singular point $x \in X$ there exist a Kahler-Einstein Fano manifold $Z$ and a positive integer $q$ dividing $K_Z$ such that $-\frac{1}{q}K_Z$ is very ample and such that the germ $(X,x)$ is locally analytically isomorphic to a neighborhood of the vertex of the blow-down of the zero section of $\frac{1}{q}K_{Z}$. We prove that up to biholomorphism, the unique weak Ricci-flat Kahler metric representing $2\pi c_1(L)$ on $X$ is asymptotic at a polynomial rate near $x$ to the natural Ricci-flat Kahler cone metric on $\frac{1}{q}K_Z$ constructed using the Calabi ansatz. In particular, our result applies if $(X, \mathcal{O}(1))$ is a nodal quintic threefold in $\mathbb{P}^4$. This provides the first known examples of compact Ricci-flat manifolds with non-orbifold isolated conical singularities.

Abstract:By constructing a holomorphic cubic form for Lagrangian surfaces with nonzero constant length mean curvature vector in a 2-dimensional complex space form $\tilde M$(4c), we characterize the Lagrangian pesudosphere as the only branched Lagrangian immersion of a sphere in $\tilde M$(4c) with nonzero constant length mean curvature vector. When c = 0, our result reduces to Castro-Urbano’s result in [1].

Abstract:Using Legendrian immersions and, in particular, Legendre curves in odd-dimensional spheres and anti-de Sitter spaces, we construct new examples of Hamiltonian-minimal Lagrangian submanifolds in complex projective and hyperbolic spaces, including explicit one-parameter families of embeddings of quotients of certain product manifolds. We also give new examples of minimal Lagrangian submanifolds in complex projective and hyperbolic spaces. Making use of all these constructions, we get Hamiltonian-minimal and special Lagrangian cones in complex Euclidean space as well.

Abstract:In this paper, we study Lagrangian submanifolds of the pseudo‐nearly Kähler SL(2,R)×SL(2,R) . First, we show that they split into four different classes depending on their behavior with respect to a certain almost product structure on the ambient space. Then, we give a complete classification of totally geodesic Lagrangian submanifolds of this space.

Abstract:We construct special Lagrangian submanifolds of the Taub-NUT manifold and the Atiyah-Hitchin manifold by combining the generalized Legendre transform approach and the moment map technique. The generalized Legendre transform approach provides a formulation to construct hyperkähler manifolds and can make their Calabi-Yau structures manifest. In this approach, the Kähler $2$-forms and the holomorphic volume forms can be written in terms of holomorphic coordinates, which are convenient to employ the moment map technique. This technique derives the condition that a submanifold in the Calabi-Yau manifold is special Lagrangian. For the Taub-NUT manifold and the Atiyah-Hitchin manifold, by the moment map technique, special Lagrangian submanifolds are obtained as a one-parameter family of the orbits corresponding to Hamiltonian action with respect to their Kähler 2-forms. The resultant special Lagrangian submanifolds have cohomogeneity-one symmetry. To demonstrate that our method is useful, we recover the conditions for the special Lagrangian submanifold of the Taub-NUT manifold which is invariant under the tri-holomorphic $U(1)$ symmetry. As new applications of our method, we construct special Lagrangian submanifolds of the Taub-NUT manifold and the Atiyah-Hitchin manifold which are invariant under the action of a Lie subgroup of $SO(3)$. In these constructions, our conditions for being special Lagrangian are expressed by ordinary differential equations (ODEs) with respect to the one-parameters. We numerically give solution curves for the ODEs which specify the special Lagrangian submanifolds for the above cases.

Abstract:From the Riemannian geometric point of view, one of the most fundamental problems in the study of Lagrangian submanifolds is the classiflcation of Lagrangian submanifolds with parallel second fundamental form. In 1980’s, H. Naitoh completely classifled the Lagrangian submanifolds with parallel second fundamental form and without Euclidean factor in complex projective space, by using the theory of Lie groups and symmetric spaces. He showed that such a submanifold is always locally symmetric and is one of the symmetric spaces: SO(k + 1)=SO(k)(k ‚ 2), SU(k)=SO(k)(k ‚ 3), SU(k)(k ‚ 3), SU(2k)=Sp(k)(k ‚ 3), E6=F4. In this paper, we completely classify the Lagrangian submanifolds in complex projective space with parallel second fundamental form by an elementary geometrical method. We prove that such a Lagrangian submanifold is either totally geodesic or the Calabi product of a point with a lower dimensional Lagrangian submanifold with parallel second fundamental form, or the Calabi product of two lower dimensional Lagrangian submanifolds with parallel second fundamental form, or one of the standard symmetric spaces: SU(k)=SO(k)(k ‚ 3), SU(k)(k ‚ 3), SU(2k)=Sp(k)(k ‚ 3), E6=F4. Abstract:We introduce a structural approach to study Lagrangian submanifolds of the complex hyperquadric in arbitrary dimension by using its family of non-integrable almost product structures.In particular,we define local angle functions encoding the geometry of the Lagrangian submanifold at hand.We prove that these functions are constant in the special case that the Lagrangian immersion is the Gauss map of an isoparametric hypersurface of a sphere and give the relation with the constant principal curvatures of the hypersurface.We also use our techniques to classify all minimal Lagrangian submanifolds of the complex hyperquadric which have constant sectional curvatures and all minimal Lagrangian submanifolds for which all local angle functions,respectively all but one,coincide.

Abstract:In the first part of this paper we consider compact algebraic manifolds M^2n with an algebraic (n-1)-Torus action. We show that there is a T-invariant meromorphic section $\sigma$ of the canonical bundle of M. Any such $\sigma$ defines a divisor D. On the complement M'=M-D we have a trivialization of the canonical bundle and a T-action. If the first cohomology of M' vanishes, then results of [2] imply that there is a Special Lagrangian (SLag) fibration on M'. We study how the fibers compactify in M and give examples of SLag fibrations on M', including some cases there the first cohomology of M' doesn't vanish. In the second part of the paper we study Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in M. We assume that $\sigma$ is an inverse of a holomorphic section $\eta$ of the anti-canonical bundle of M. We will see that under certain assumptions one can choose a holomorphic volume form on the smooth part D' of the divisor D s.t. orbits of the T-action give a SLag fibration on D' with respect to the metric, induced from M. Transversal sections $\eta_j$ near $\eta$ define smooth Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces D_j in M. We will show that one can deform the SLag fibration on D' to SLag fibrations on large parts of D_j. This construction applies for instance for D_j being quintics in CP^4 or Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in the Grassmanian G(2,4).

Abstract:Given a closed, oriented Lagrangian submanifold $L$ in a Liouville domain $\overline{M}$, one can define a Maurer-Cartan element with respect to a certain $L_\infty$-structure on the string homology $\widehat{H}_\ast^{S^1}(\mathcal{L}L;\mathbb{R})$, completed with respect to the action filtration. When the first Gutt-Hutchings capacity of $\overline{M}$ is finite, and $L$ is a $K(\pi,1)$ space, it leads to interesting geometric implications. In particular, we show that $L$ bounds a non-constant pseudoholomorphic disc of Maslov index 2. This confirms a general form of Audin's conjecture and generalizes the works of Fukaya and Irie in the case of $\mathbb{C}^n$ to a wide class of Liouville manifolds. In particular, when $\dim_\mathbb{R}(\overline{M})=6$, every closed, orientable, prime Lagrangian 3-manifold $L\subset\overline{M}$ is diffeomorphic to a spherical space form, or $S^1\times\Sigma_g$, where $\Sigma_g$ is a closed oriented surface.

Abstract:Abstract A symplectic bundle over an algebraic curve has a natural invariant s Lag determined by the maximal degree of its Lagrangian subbundles. This can be viewed as a generalization of the classical Segre invariants of a vector bundle. We give a sharp upper bound on s Lag which is analogous to the Hirschowitz bound on the classical Segre invariants. Furthermore, we study the stratifications induced by s Lag on moduli spaces of symplectic bundles, and get a full picture for the case of rank four.

Abstract:We construct special Lagrangian 3-spheres in non-Kähler compact threefolds equipped with the Fu-Li-Yau geometry. These non-Kähler geometries emerge from topological transitions of compact Calabi-Yau threefolds. Abstract:In this paper, we prove a transversality theorem for the moduli space of perturbed special Lagrangian submanifolds in a 6-dimensional manifold equipped with a generalization of a Calabi-Yau structure. These perturbed special Lagrangian submanifolds arise as solutions to an infinite-dimensional Lagrange multipliers problem which is part of a proposal for counting special Lagrangians outlined by Donaldson and Segal in their paper Gauge theory in higher dimensions II. More specifically, we prove that this moduli space is generically a set of isolated points.
