Abstract:This presentation briefly summarizes the recent measurements of R-values in low energy e^+e^- annihilation. The new experiments aimed at reducing the uncertainties in R-values and performed with the upgraded Beijing Spectrometer (BESII) at Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC) in Beijing and with CMD-2 and SND at VEEP-2M in Novosibirsk are reviewed and discussed.

Recent Advances in Hadron Production in $e^+e^-$ Annihilation at BESIII

Abstract:This talk presents recent experimental findings at BESIII experiment, including three distinct studies. Firstly, it reports the measurements of the Born cross-sections of $e^+e^-\to\Sigma^+\bar\Sigma^-$, $\Xi^-\bar\Xi^+$, $K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{L}$ and $K^-\bar\Xi^+\Lambda/\Sigma^0+c.c.$ at center-of-mass energies between 3.5 and 4.9 GeV. Secondly, it delves into the observation of significant flavor-SU(3) breaking in the kaon wave function at 12 GeV$^2$$<Q^2<$25 GeV$^2$, the discovery of $\psi(3770)\to K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{L}$ and the evidence of $\psi(4160)\to K^-\bar\Xi^+\Lambda+c.c.$. Thirdly, it discusses the search for the production of deuterons in $e^+e^-$ annihilation at center-of-mass energies between 4.1 and 4.7 GeV in the reactions of $e^+e^-\to pp\pi^-\bar{d}+c.c.$ and $pp\bar{p}\bar{n}\pi^-+c.c.$. These results offer new perspectives on hadron production in the baryonic final states and the flavor dynamics within the kaon wave function, and the rare decay processes involving the $\psi(3770)$ resonance, contributing to our understanding of hadron dynamics in this energy regime through baryon final states produced in $e^+e^-$ collisions.

Abstract:Soon, new experiments at FNAL and J-PARC will measure the muon anomalous magnetic moments with better accuracy than before. From theoretical side, the uncertainty of the standard model prediction is dominated by the hadronic contributions. Current status of the experimental data and theoretical calculations are briefly discussed.

Abstract:Fluctuations of the baryon number in relativistic heavy-ion collisions are a promising observable to explore the structure of the QCD phase diagram. The cumulant ratios in heavy ion collisions at intermediate energies ($\sqrt{s_{\textrm{NN}}} < 7$ GeV) have not been studied to date. We investigate the effects of mean field potential and clustering on the cumulant ratios of baryon and proton number distributions in Au+Au collisions at beam energy of 1.23 GeV$/$nucleon as measured by the HADES Collaboration at GSI. Ultrarelativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics (UrQMD) and the JAM model are used to calculate the cumulants with different mean field potentials. It is found that the cumulant ratios are strongly time dependent. At the early stage, the effects of the potentials on the fluctuations of the particle multiplicity in momentum space are relatively weak. The mean fields enhance the fluctuations during the expansion stage, especially for small rapidity acceptance windows. The enhancement of cumulant ratios for free protons is strongly suppressed as compared to that for all baryons. The mean field potentials and the clustering play an important role for the measured cumulant ratios at intermediate energy.

Abstract:The current status of the experimental measurements and theoretical predictions of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon $a_\mu$ is briefly reviewed. The emphasis is put on the evaluation of the hadronic contribution to $a_\mu$ as it has the largest uncertainty among all Standard Model contributions. The precision of the hadronic contribution is driven by the input e+e- data predominantly from the \pi+pi- channel. Including the latest experimental data on e+e- annihilation into hadronsfrom CMD2 and SND for the \pi+\pi- channel and BaBar for multihadron final states, the updated Standard Model prediction disagrees with the measurement dominated by BNL by 3.3 standard deviations, with the theoretical precision exceeding the experimental one.

Abstract:We summarize recent developments in the Standard-Model evaluation of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon $a_\mu$, both in the hadronic-light-by-light and hadronic-vacuum-polarization contributions. The current situation for the latter is puzzling as we are confronted with multiple discrepancies that are not yet understood. We present updated fits of a dispersive representation of the pion vector form factor to the new CMD-3 data set and quantify the tensions with the other high-statistics $e^+e^-\to\pi^+\pi^-$ experiments in the contribution to $a_\mu$ in the energy range up to 1 GeV, as well as in the corresponding contribution to the intermediate Euclidean window.

Abstract:Utilizing the large quantity of hyperons and antihyperons produced by the decay of 10 billion $J/\psi$ and 2.7 billion $\psi(3686)$ collected at BESIII, the cross sections of several specific elastic or inelastic (anti-)hyperon-nucleus/nucleon rections have been measured via the scattering between the (anti-)hyperons and the nucleus in the dense objects of BESIII detector. The novel method developed in these works extends the research field and opens a new era for the experiments at $e^+ e^-$ colliders. The results of such measurements will definitely benefit a lot the precise probe of the (anti-)hyperon-nucleus/nucleon interactions and provide constraints for the studies of the potential of strong interaction, the origin of color confinement, the unified model for baryon-baryon interactions, and the internal structure of neutron stars. The desirable prospects of corresponding studies in the future Super Tau-Charm Factory (STCF) are also discussed in this report.

Abstract:We review the recent measurements of the rare pion decays: Pi+ -> Pi0 e+ Nu [pion beta, Pi_(e3), or Pi_beta decay], radiative decay Pi+ -> e+ Nu Gamma [Pi_(e2Gamma) or RPD], and Pi+ -> e+ Nu [Pi_(e2)] decay, as well as the radiative muon decay, Mu -> e Nu Nu-bar Gamma, their theoretical implications, and prospects for further improvement.

Abstract:New results from NA49 on the production of strangeness in elementary and nuclear reactions are presented. New measurements of charged kaon and pion production have been obtained from 40 AGeV Pb+Pb collisions. The evolution of strange meson yields in nucleus-nucleus interactions is studied as a function of collision energy and system size. Cascade baryon yields are presented for a wide range of hadronic interactions including first measurements in p+p and centrality controlled p+Pb collisions.
New approach to finding invisible states in $e^+e^-$ annihilation and application to BESIII data

Abstract:We compare precision $e^+e^-$ to $\mu^+\mu^-$ cross section measurements by BESIII in the E_cm =3.8-4.6 GeV range, to predictions based on measured R_had data. The consistency is poor (p-value <0.012). Allowing for resonance contributions not seen in R_had gives an excellent fit, with the state at 4421 MeV ( 4.6 sigma) giving insight into the psi(4415) and the 3.1 sigma structure at 4211 MeV, if confirmed, being a new, very narrow resonance. This analysis shows the power of precision $e^+e^-$ to $\mu^+\mu^-$ measurements to uncover or probe otherwise difficult to access states.

Search for baryon junctions in e+A collisions at the Electron Ion Collider

Abstract:Constituent quarks in a nucleon are the essential elements in the standard ``quark model" associated with the electric charge, spin, mass, and baryon number of a nucleon. Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) describes nucleon as a composite object containing current quarks (valence quarks and sea (anti-)quarks) and gluons. These subatomic elements and their interactions are known to contribute in complex ways to the overall nucleon spin and mass. In the early development of QCD theory in the 1970s, an alternative hypothesis postulated that the baryon number might manifest itself through a non-perturbative configuration of gluon fields forming a Y-shaped topology known as the gluon junction. In this work, we propose to test such hypothesis by measuring (i) the Regge intercept of the net-baryon distributions for $e$+($p$)Au collisions, (ii) baryon and charge transport in the isobaric ratio between $e$+Ru and $e$+Zr collisions, and (iii) target flavor dependence of proton and antiproton yields at large rapidity, transported from the hydrogen and deuterium targets in $e+p$(d) collisions. Our study indicates that these measurements at the EIC can help determine what carries the baryon number.

Two body final states production in electron-positron annihilation and their contributions to $(g-2)_μ$

Abstract:In this paper, we study the processes of $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation into two body final states, either two pseudoscalar mesons or one meson with a photon. The hadronic vacuum polarization form factors are calculated within the framework of resonance chiral theory in the energy region of $E \lesssim 2$ GeV, with final state interactions taken into account. A joint analysis on the processes of $e^{+}e^{-} \rightarrow \pi^{+}\pi^{-}$, $K^{+}K^{-}$, $K_{L}^{0}K_{S}^{0}$, $\pi^{0}\gamma$, and $\eta\gamma$ has been performed, and the latest experimental data are included. Based on the vacuum polarization form factors of these processes, we estimate their contributions to the lowest order of anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, $(g-2)_\mu$. Combined with other contributions from hadronic vacuum polarization and other interactions from the standard model, the discrepancy between theoretical prediction and experimental measurement is $\Delta a_{\mu}=(24.1\pm5.4)\times 10^{-10}$, i.e., 4.5$\sigma$.

Abstract:The MUonE experiment aims at providing a novel determination of the leading hadronic contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment through the study of elastic muon-electron scattering. Since the initial-state electrons are bound in a low-$Z$ atomic target, the interaction between the incoming muons and the nuclei is expected to be the main source of experimental background. In this article, we study the production of a real lepton pair from the muon-nucleus scattering, discussing its numerical impact in the MUonE kinematic configuration. The process is described as a scattering of a muon in an external Coulomb field with the addition of a form factor to describe the nuclear charge distribution. The calculation is implemented in the fully differential Monte Carlo event generator MESMER, without introducing any approximation on the angular variables.

Abstract:The reactions of electron-position annihilation into nucleon-antinucleon pairs have been studied in a nonperturbative quark model. The work suggests that the two-step process, in which the primary (q) over barq pair forms first a meson and then the meson decays into a baryon pair, is dominant over the one-step process in which the primary 4q pair is directly dressed by two additional (q) over barq pairs to form a baryon pair. The experimental data indicates that there exists a vector meson with quantum numbers I-G(J(PC)) = 0(-)(1(--)) and a mass around 2 GeV.
Low-energy hadronic cross sections measurements at BABAR and g-2 of the muon

Abstract:The LO hadronic vacuum polarization (VP) contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment $a_\mu$ is obtained as the integral as a function of energy of an expression that involves the ratio of the $e^+e^- \rightarrow \mathrm{hadron}$ cross section to the pointlike muon pair cross section. The former is extracted from experimental data for individual hadronic final states at low energies, and from perturbative QCD at high energies. The BaBar experiment at SLAC has a programme of systematic measurement of the production of the lowest-rest-mass hadronic final states, those that contribute most significantly to the integral. To that purpose, we use a method in which, while the PEP-II storage ring is operated at a constant energy in the center of mass system, $\sqrt{s}$, of about 10.6 GeV, events are reconstructed and selected which have been produced with a hadronic final state together with a high-energy photon which may (photon tagging) or may not (no tagging) be observed. In our kinematic configuration the photon is almost always emitted by the electron or by the positron of the initial state, hence the name "initial-state radiation" (ISR). The cross section for the direct $e^+e^- \rightarrow f$ production of a final state $f$ at an energy $\sqrt{s'}$ is then extracted from the differential cross section of the ISR production of the state $f$ with invariant mass $\sqrt{s'}$. The programme is almost completed and has lead to a number of first measurements and to an improvement of up to a factor of three of the uncertainties on the contributions of individual channels to $a_\mu$.

Abstract:The processes e+e−→Σ0¯Σ0 and e+e−→Σ+¯Σ− are studied using initial-state-radiation events in a sample of 980 fb−1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e− collider. The cross sections from the mass threshold to 3 GeV/c2 and the effective form factors of Σ0 and Σ+ are measured. Abstract:In this talk I first present a short review of fluctuations in $e^+e^-$-annihilations. I then describe some new results on FD correlations. Experimental analyses of $pp$ and $\Lambda\Lambda$ correlations indicate a very small production radius. This result relies very strongly on comparisons with MC simulations. A study of the approximations and uncertainties is these simulations imply that it is premature to draw such a conclusion from the data.

Abstract:In this paper, a coherent study of the $e^+e^-$ annihilation into $K^+K^-\pi^0$, $K^0_SK^0_L\pi^0$ and $K^0_SK^\pm\pi^\mp$ is carried out within the framework of resonance chiral theory. The amplitudes are fixed by fitting to the experimental cross-section and invariant mass spectrum. With these amplitudes, one can calculate the hadronic vacuum polarization form factors of these processes. The leading order contributions of $\sigma(e^+e^- \to K\bar{K}\pi)$ to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, $(g-2)_\mu$, is obtained as $a_\mu^{\rm HVP,LO}(e^+e^- \to K\bar{K}\pi)=(3.079\pm0.088)\times10^{-10}$ up to $E_{\rm cm}=2.3$ GeV.
