Abstract:Two-loop renormalization group equations in the standard model are recalculated. A new coefficient is found in the beta function of the quartic coupling and a class of gauge invariants is found to be absent in the beta functions of hadronic Yukawa couplings. The two-loop beta function of the Higgs mass parameter is presented in complete form.

Abstract:In θ-expanded approach, we expand the noncommutative quantum electrodynamics action to θ2 order and calculate the one loop divergent corrections to gauge field propagators. It is shown that the gauge field propagators are one loop renormalizable at θ2-order with a massive or massless fermion field.

Abstract:We extend the previous work and study the renormalisability of the SU$_L$(2) $\times$ U$_Y$(1) electroweak theory with massive W Z fields and massive matter fields. We expound that with the constraint conditions caused by the W Z mass term and the additional condition chosen by us we can still performed the quantization in the same way as before. We also show that when the $\delta-$ functions appearing in the path integral of the Green functions and representing the constraint conditions are rewritten as Fourier integrals with Lagrange multipliers $\lambda_a$ and $\lambda_y$, the total effective action consisting of the Lagrange multipliers, ghost fields and the original fields is BRST invariant. Furthermore, with the help of the the renormalisability of the theory without the the mass term of matter fields, we find the general form of the divergent part of the generating functional for the regular vertex functions and prove the renormalisability of the theory with the mass terms of the W Z fields and the matter fields.

Abstract:The geometry of field space governs on-shell scattering amplitudes. We formulate a geometric description of effective field theories which extends previous results for scalars and gauge fields to fermions. The field-space geometry reorganizes and simplifies the computation of quantum loop corrections. Using this geometric framework, we calculate the fermion loop contributions to the renormalization group equations for bosonic operators in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory up to mass dimension eight.

Abstract:We study the renormalization of the fermion mixing matrix in the Standard Model and derive the constraints that must be satisfied to respect gauge invariance to all orders. We demonstrate that the prescription based on the {\it on-shell} renormalization conditions is not consistent with the Ward-Takahashi Identities and leads to gauge dependent physical amplitudes. A simple scheme is proposed that satisfies all theoretical requirements and is very convenient for practical calculations.

Abstract:We review the Universal Extra-Dimensional Model compactified on a S1/Z2 orbifold, and the renormalisation group evolution of quark and lepton masses, mixing angles and phases both in the UED extension of the Standard Model and of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We consider two typical scenarios: all matter fields propagating in the bulk, and matter fields constrained to the brane. The resulting renormalisation group evolution equations in these scenarios are compared with the existing results in the literature, together with their implications.

Abstract:The renormalization properties of the non-Abelian chiral Schwinger model are studied. The 1-loop renormalization counterterm is calculated. The results show that a-an arbitrary parameter appearing in the theory and determining its unitarity-is renormalized unless it is equal to zero or two, and there is neither coupling constant renormalization of e nor wavefunction renormalization of the gauge field, fermion field and Wess-Zumino field.

Abstract:A realistic grand unified model has never been constructed in the literature due to three major difficulties: the seesaw mechanism without spoiling gauge coupling unification, the doublet-triplet splitting and the proton decay suppression. We propose a renormalizable supersymmetric SO(10) model with all these difficulties solved naturally by imposing an extra discrete symmetry.

Partial Renormalization of Quasiparticle Interactions

Abstract:Nonlocal effective interactions are inherent to non-relativistic quantum many-body systems, but their systematic resummation poses a significant challenge known as the ``vertex problem" in many-body perturbation theory. We introduce a renormalization scheme based on a projection-based renormalization condition that selectively resums the most essential nonlocal contributions to the effective interaction vertex, avoiding the computational complexity of the full vertex function. This enables us to derive a renormalized Feynman diagrammatic series with large parameters canceled by counter-diagrams, efficiently generated using a perturbative expansion of the parquet equations and computed using a diagrammatic Monte Carlo algorithm. Applying our approach to a 3D Yukawa Fermi liquid, we demonstrate that the renormalized perturbation theory remains predictive even in the strongly correlated regime and uncover significant sign cancellations between different channels contributing to the scattering amplitude. Our work establishes a novel framework for investigating strong correlations in quantum many-body systems, offering a systematic approach to explore nonlocal theories for challenging systems like the electron liquid in material science.

Abstract:The lattice Sommerfield model, describing a massive vector gauge field coupled to a light fermion in two dimensions, is an ideal candidate to verify perturbative conclusions. In contrast with continuum exact solutions, we prove that there is no infinite field renormalization, implying the reduction of the degree of the ultraviolet divergence, and that the anomalies are nonrenormalized. Such features are the counterpart of analog properties at the basis of the Standard Model perturbative renormalizability. Differential Renormalization of the Wess-Zumino Model

Abstract:We apply the recently developed method of differential renormalization to the Wess-Zumino model. From the explicit calculation of a finite, renormalized effective action, the $\beta$-function is computed to three loops and is found to agree with previous existing results. As a further, nontrivial check of the method, the Callan-Symanzik equations are also verified to that loop order. Finally, we argue that differential renormalization presents advantages over other superspace renormalization methods, in that it avoids both the ambiguities inherent to supersymmetric regularization by dimensional reduction (SRDR), and the complications of virtually all other supersymmetric regulators.

Abstract:At zero temperature, the Lorentz invariance is strictly preserved in three-dimensional quantum electrodynamics. This property ensures that the velocity of massless fermions is not renormalized by the gauge interaction. At finite temperature, however, the Lorentz invariance is explicitly broken by the thermal fluctuation. The longitudinal component of gauge interaction becomes short ranged due to thermal screening, whereas the transverse component remains long ranged because of local gauge invariance. The transverse gauge interaction leads to singular corrections to the fermion self energy and thus results in an unusual renormalization of the fermion velocity. We calculate the renormalized fermion velocity v(R)(p(0); p; T) by employing a renormalization group analysis, and discuss the influence of the anomalous dimension eta(n) on the fermion specific heat.

Abstract:We develop the idea that renormalization, decoupling of heavy particle effects from low energy physics and the construction of effective field theories are intimately linked to the momentum space entanglement of disparate modes of an interacting quantum field theory. Using unitary transformations to decouple these modes at the perturbative level, we show in a scalar field theoretical model with light and heavy fields, how renormalization may be consistently implemented and how the low energy effective field theory can be constructed. We also obtain a renormalization group equation in this framework and apply it to the scalar field theoretical model.
