Abstract:In general, the study of gradations has always represented a cornerstone in algebra theory. In particular, \textit{naturally graded} seems to be the first and the most relevant gradation when it comes to nilpotent algebras, a large class of solvable ones. In fact, many families of relevant solvable algebras have been obtained by extensions of naturally graded nilpotent algebras, i.e. solvable algebras with a well-structured nilradical. Thus, the aim of this work is introducing the concept of naturally graded for superalgebra structures such as Lie and (non-Lie) Leibniz. After having defined naturally graded Lie and Leibniz superalgebras, we characterize natural gradations on a very important class of each of them, that is, those with maximal super-nilindex.

Abstract:We classify the nilpotent almost abelian Lie algebras admitting complex or symplectic structures. It turns out that if a nilpotent almost abelian Lie algebra admits a complex structure, then it necessarily admits a symplectic structure. Given an even dimensional almost abelian Lie algebra, we show that it always admits a complex structure when it is 2-step nilpotent and it always admits a symplectic structure when it is $k$-step nilpotent for $k=2, \, 3$ or $4$. Several consequences of the classification theorems are obtained.

Abstract:We consider the problem of classifying gradings by groups on a finite-dimensional algebra $A$ (with any number of multilinear operations) over an algebraically closed field. We introduce a class of gradings, which we call almost fine, such that every $G$-grading on $A$ is obtained from an almost fine grading on $A$ in an essentially unique way, which is not the case with fine gradings. For abelian groups, we give a method of obtaining all almost fine gradings if fine gradings are known. We apply these ideas to the case of semisimple Lie algebras in characteristic $0$: to any abelian group grading with nonzero identity component, we attach a (possibly nonreduced) root system and, in the simple case, construct an adapted grading by this root system.

The classification of simple complex Lie superalgebras of polynomial vector fields and their deformations

Abstract:We overview classifications of simple infinite-dimensional complex $\mathbb{Z}$-graded Lie (super)algebras of polynomial growth, and their deformations. A subset of such Lie (super)algebras consist of vectorial Lie (super)algebras whose elements are vector fields with polynomial, or formal power series, or divided power coefficients. A given vectorial Lie (super)algebra with a (Weisfeiler) filtration corresponding to a maximal subalgebra of finite codimension is called W-filtered; the associated graded algebra is called W-graded. Here, we correct several published results: (1) prove our old claim "the superization of É. Cartan's problem (classify primitive Lie algebras) is wild", (2) solve a tame problem: classify simple W-graded and W-filtered vectorial Lie superalgebras, (3) describe the supervariety of deformation parameters for the serial W-graded simple vectorial superalgebras, (4) conjecture that the exceptional simple vectorial superalgebras are rigid. We conjecture usefulness of our method in classification of simple infinite-dimensional vectorial Lie (super)algebras over fields of positive characteristic.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to investigate the algebraic structure that appears on $|3|-$gradings $\mathfrak{n}=\mathfrak{n}_{-3}\oplus \cdots \oplus \mathfrak{n}_3$ of a complex simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{n}$. In particular, we completely determine the possible reductive algebras $\mathfrak{n}_0$ and prove that the only free nilpotent Lie algebra of step 3 that appears as the negative part $\mathfrak{n}_{-3}\oplus\mathfrak{n}_{-2}\oplus\mathfrak{n}_{-1}$ of a grading is the usual $|3|-$grading of the exceptional Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_2$.

Abstract:We study the structure of graded Lie superalgebras with arbitrary dimension and over an arbitrary field ${\mathbb K}$. We show that any of such algebras ${\mathfrak L}$ with a symmetric $G$-support is of the form ${\mathfrak L} = U + \sum\limits_{j}I_{j}$ with $U$ a subspace of ${\mathfrak L}_1$ and any $I_{j}$ a well described graded ideal of ${\mathfrak L}$, satisfying $[I_j,I_k] = 0$ if $j\neq k$. Under certain conditions, it is shown that ${\mathfrak L} = (\bigoplus\limits_{k \in K} I_k) \oplus (\bigoplus\limits_{q \in Q} I_q),$ where any $I_k$ is a gr-simple graded ideal of ${\mathfrak L}$ and any $I_q$ a completely determined low dimensional non gr-simple graded ideal of ${\mathfrak L}$, satisfying $[I_q,I_{q'}] = 0$ for any $q'\in Q$ with $q \neq q'$.

Abstract:In the present paper, we give the classification of a subclass of n-dimensional naturally graded associative algebras with nilindex $n-3$. The subclass has the characteristic sequence $C(\mathcal{A})=(n-3,2,1)$. The result completes the classification of naturally graded associative algebras with nilindex $n-3$ for $n>6$.

Abstract:We construct classes of $Z_2 \times Z_2$-graded Lie algebras corresponding to the classical Lie algebras, in terms of their defining matrices. For the $Z_2 \times Z_2$-graded Lie algebra of type $A$, the construction coincides with the previously known class. For the $Z_2 \times Z_2$-graded Lie algebra of type $B$, $C$ and $D$ our construction is new and gives rise to interesting defining matrices closely related to the classical ones but undoubtedly different. We also give some examples and possible applications to parastatistics.

Abstract:Working over an arbitrary field of characteristic different from $2$, we extend the Skjelbred-Sund method to compatible Lie algebras and give a full classification of nilpotent compatible Lie algebras up to dimension $4$. In case the base field is cubically closed, we find that there are three isomorphism classes and a one-parameter family in dimension $3$, and $10$ isomorphism classes, $7$ one-parameter families and two $2$-parameter families in dimension $4$

Abstract:We classify nilpotent Lie algebras with complex structures of weakly non-nilpotent type in real dimension eight, which is the lowest dimension where they arise. Our study, together with previous results on strongly non-nilpotent structures, completes the classification of 8-dimensional nilpotent Lie algebras admitting complex structures of non-nilpotent type. As an application, we identify those that support a pseudo-Kähler metric, thus providing new counterexamples to a previous conjecture and an infinite family of (Ricci-flat) non-flat neutral Calabi-Yau structures. Moreover, we arrive at the topological restriction $b_1(X)\geq 3$ for every pseudo-Kähler nilmanifold $X$ with invariant complex structure, up to complex dimension four.

Abstract:We classify up to isomorphism the gradings by arbitrary groups on the exceptional classical simple Lie superalgebras $G(3)$, $F(4)$ and $D(2,1;\alpha)$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $0$. To achieve this, we apply the recent method developed by A. Elduque and M. Kochetov to the known classification of fine gradings up to equivalence on the same superalgebras, which was obtained by C. Draper et al. in 2011. We also classify gradings on the simple Lie superalgebra $A(1,1)$, whose automorphism group is different from the other members of the $A$ series.

Abstract:A set grading on the split simple Lie algebra of type $D_{13}$, that cannot be realized as a group-grading, is constructed by splitting the set of positive roots into a disjoint union of pairs of orthogonal roots, following a pattern provided by the lines of the projective plane over $GF(3)$. This answers in the negative Question 1.11 in Elduque-Kochetov monograph (2013). Similar non-group gradings are obtained for types $D_n$ with $n$ congruent to 1 modulo 12, by substituting the lines in the projective plane by blocks of suitable Steiner systems.

Fine gradings of complex simple Lie algebras and Finite Root Systems

Abstract: A $G$-grading on a complex semisimple Lie algebra $L$, where $G$ is a finite abelian group, is called quasi-good if each homogeneous component is 1-dimensional and 0 is not in the support of the grading. Analogous to classical root systems, we define a finite root system $R$ to be some subset of a finite symplectic abelian group satisfying certain axioms. There always corresponds to $R$ a semisimple Lie algebra $L(R)$ together with a quasi-good grading on it. Thus one can construct nice basis of $L(R)$ by means of finite root systems. We classify finite maximal abelian subgroups $T$ in $\Aut(L)$ for complex simple Lie algebras $L$ such that the grading induced by the action of $T$ on $L$ is quasi-good, and show that the set of roots of $T$ in $L$ is always a finite root system. There are five series of such finite maximal abelian subgroups, which occur only if $L$ is a classical simple Lie algebra.
