Abstract:Let $M$ be a closed simply connected $7$-manifold. In this paper we give homotopy decompositions of the reduced suspension space $\Sigma M$ into a wedge sum of simple spaces when localized at a set of primes. As an application, we combine them to investigate the cohomotopy sets $\pi^k(M)$ or the $p$-local cohomotopy sets $\pi^k(M;\mathbb{Z}_{(p)})$.

Abstract:Motivated by the construction based on topological suspension of a family of compact non-Kähler complex manifolds with trivial canonical bundle given by L. Qin and B. Wang in [QW], we study toric suspensions of balanced manifolds by holomorphic automorphisms. In particular, we show that toric suspensions of Calabi-Yau manifolds are balanced. We also prove that suspensions associated with hyperbolic automorphisms of hyperkähler manifolds do not admit any pluriclosed, astheno-Kähler or p-pluriclosed Hermitian metric. Moreover, we consider natural extensions for hypercomplex manifolds, providing some explicit examples of compact holomorphic symplectic and hypercomplex non-Kähler manifolds. We also show that a modified suspension construction provides examples with pluriclosed metrics.

Abstract:We introduce new finite-dimensional cohomologies on symplectic manifolds. Each exhibits Lefschetz decomposition and contains a unique harmonic representative within each class. Associated with each cohomology is a primitive cohomology defined purely on the space of primitive forms. We identify the dual currents of lagrangians and more generally coisotropic submanifolds with elements of a primitive cohomology, which dualizes to a homology on coisotropic chains.

Abstract:Let $M$ be a closed orientable $(n-1)$-connected $(2n+2)$-manifold, $n\geq 2$. In this paper we combine the Postnikov tower of spheres and the homotopy decomposition of the reduced suspension space $\Sigma M$ to investigate the cohomotopy sets $\pi^\ast(M)$ for $n=2,3,4$, under the assumption that $M$ has $2$-torsion-free homology. All cohomotopy sets $\pi^i(M)$ of such manifolds $M$ are characterized except $\pi^4(M)$ for $n=3,4$.

Abstract:In this addendum, we give a differential form interpretation of the proof of the main theorem of <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1812.02448" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1812.02448">arXiv:1812.02448</a>, which gives lower bounds of the dimensions of $\pi_k(B\mathrm{Diff}(D^4,\partial))\otimes\mathbb{Q}$ in terms of the dimensions of Kontsevich's graph homology, and explain why it can be extended to arbitrary even dimensions $d\geq 4$. We attempted to make the proof accessible to more readers. Thus we do not assume familiarity with configuration space integrals nor knowledge of finite type invariants. Part of this addendum might be joined to the original article when it will be re-submitted to the journal. This is not aimed at giving a correction to the previous version.

On homology concordance in contractible manifolds and two bridge links

Abstract:Let $\widehat{\mathcal{C}}_\mathbb{Z}$ be the group consists of manifold-knot pairs $(Y,K)$ modulo homology concordance, where $Y$ is an integer homology sphere bounding an integer homology ball, and let $\mathcal{C}_\mathbb{Z}$ be the subgroup consisting of pairs $(S^3,K)$. Dai-Hom-Stoffregen-Truong show that the quotient group ${\widehat{\mathcal{C}}_\mathbb{Z}}/{\mathcal{C}_\mathbb{Z}}$ admits a $\mathbb{Z}^\infty$-summand. In this paper, we improve the result by showing that there exists a family $\{(Y,K_m)\}_{m>1 }$ generating the $\mathbb{Z}^\infty$-summand where $Y$ is the boundary of a smooth contractible $4$-manifold. In fact, we give a $\mathbb{Z}$-count of such families. The examples are constructed using a family of knots obtained by blowing down a component of a two-bridge link. They are studied in Jonathan Hales's thesis. Using the algorithm due to Ozsváth, Szabó and Hales we give a classification of the knot Floer homology of a larger family of such knots, that might be of independent interest.

Abstract:Abstract We use Hodge theoretic methods to study homotopy types of complex projective manifolds with arbitrary fundamental groups. The main tool we use is the schematization functor $X \mapsto (X\otimes \mathbb {C})^{\mathrm {sch}}$ , introduced by the third author as a substitute for the rationalization functor in homotopy theory in the case of non-simply connected spaces. Our main result is the construction of a Hodge decomposition on $(X\otimes \mathbb {C})^{\mathrm {sch}}$ . This Hodge decomposition is encoded in an action of the discrete group $\mathbb {C}^{\times \delta }$ on the object $(X\otimes \mathbb {C})^{\mathrm {sch}}$ and is shown to recover the usual Hodge decomposition on cohomology, the Hodge filtration on the pro-algebraic fundamental group, and, in the simply connected case, the Hodge decomposition on the complexified homotopy groups. We show that our Hodge decomposition satisfies a purity property with respect to a weight filtration, generalizing the fact that the higher homotopy groups of a simply connected projective manifold have natural mixed Hodge structures. As applications we construct new examples of homotopy types which are not realizable as complex projective manifolds and we prove a formality theorem for the schematization of a complex projective manifold.

Abstract:In this note we describe a family of arguments that link the homotopy-type of a) the diffeomorphism group of the disc $D^n$, b) the space of co-dimension one embedded spheres in a sphere and c) the homotopy-type of the space of co-dimension two trivial knots in a sphere. We also describe some natural extensions to these arguments. We begin with Cerf's `upgraded' proof of Smale's theorem, that the diffeomorphism group of the 2-sphere has the homotopy-type of the isometry group. This entails a canceling-handle construction, related to the `scanning' maps of Budney-Gabai. We further give a Bott-style variation on Cerf's construction, and a related Embedding Calculus framework for these constructions. We use these arguments to prove that the monoid of Schoenflies spheres is a group with respect to the connect-sum operation. This last result is perhaps only interesting when in dimension four, as in other dimensions it follows from the resolution of the various generalized Schoenflies problems.

Abstract:We show how one can define novel gauge-theoretic Floer homologies of four, three and two-manifolds from the physics of a certain topologically-twisted 5d ${\cal N}=2$ gauge theory via its supersymmetric quantum mechanics interpretation. They are associated with Vafa-Witten, Hitchin and $G_{\mathbb{C}}$-BF configurations on the four, three and two-manifolds, respectively. We also show how one can define novel symplectic Floer homologies of Hitchin spaces, which in turn will allow us to derive novel Atiyah-Floer correspondences that relate our gauge-theoretic Floer homologies to symplectic intersection Floer homologies of Higgs bundles. Furthermore, topological invariance and 5d "S-duality" suggest a web of relations and a Langlands duality amongst these novel Floer homologies and their loop/toroidal group generalizations. Last but not least, via a 2d gauged Landau-Ginzburg model interpretation of the 5d theory, we derive, from the soliton string theory that it defines and the 5d partition function, a Fukaya-Seidel type $A_\infty$-category of Hitchin configurations on three-manifolds and its novel Atiyah-Floer correspondence. Our work therefore furnishes purely physical proofs and generalizations of the mathematical conjectures of Haydys [1], Abouzaid-Manolescu [2], and Bousseau [3], and more.

Homological Stability for Spaces of Subsurfaces with Tangential Structure

Abstract:Given a manifold with boundary, one can consider the space of subsurfaces of this manifold meeting the boundary in a prescribed fashion. It is known that these spaces of subsurfaces satisfy homological stability if the manifold has at least dimension five and is simply-connected. We introduce a notion of tangential structure for subsurfaces and give a general criterion for when the space of subsurfaces with tangential structure satisfies homological stability provided that the manifold is simply-connected and has dimension $n\geq 5$. Examples of tangential structures such that the spaces of subsurface with that tangential structure satisfy homological stability are framings or spin structures of their tangent bundle, or $k$-frames of the normal bundle provided that $k\leq n-2$. Furthermore we introduce spaces of pointedly embedded subsurfaces and construct stabilization maps, as well as prove homological stability for these. This is used to prove homological stability for spaces of symplectic subsurfaces.

Abstract:We study the homotopy of the connected sum of a manifold with a projective space, viewed as a typical way to stabilize manifolds. In particular, we show a loop homotopy decomposition of a manifold after stabilization by a projective space, and provide concrete examples. To do this, we trace the effect in homotopy theory of surgery on certain product manifolds by showing a loop homotopy decomposition after localization away from the order of the image of the classical $J$-homomorphism.

Abstract:For a simply-connected closed manifold $X$ of $\dim X \neq 4$, the mapping class group $\pi_0(\mathrm{Diff}(X))$ is known to be finitely generated. We prove that analogous finite generation fails in dimension 4. Namely, we show that there exist simply-connected closed smooth 4-manifolds whose mapping class groups are not finitely generated. More generally, for each $k>0$, we prove that there are simply-connected closed smooth 4-manifolds $X$ for which $H_k(B\mathrm{Diff}(X);\mathbb{Z})$ are not finitely generated. The infinitely generated subgroup of $H_k(B\mathrm{Diff}(X);\mathbb{Z})$ which we detect are topologically trivial, and unstable under the connected sum of $S^2 \times S^2$. The proof uses characteristic classes obtained from Seiberg-Witten theory.

Abstract:We construct a compact PL 5-manifold $M$ (with boundary) which is homotopy equivalent to the wedge of eleven 2-spheres, $\vee^{}_{1 1}S^2$, which is "spineless", meaning $M$ is not the regular neighborhood of any 2-complex PL embedded in $M$. We formulate a related question about the existence of exotic smooth structures on 4-manifolds which is of interest in relation to the deformation conjecture for 2-complexes, also known as the generalized Andrews-Curtis conjecture.

Abstract:In this paper, we calculate the $n+3$, $n+4$ dimensional homotopy groups of indecomposable $\mathbf{A}_n^2$-complexes after localization at 2. This job is seen as a sequel to P.J. Hilton's work on the $n+1,n+2$ dimensional homotopy groups of $\mathbf{A}_n^2$-complexes (1950-1951). The main technique used is analysing the homotopy property of $J(X,A)$, defined by B. Gray for a CW-pair $(X,A)$, which is homotopy equivalent to the homotopy fibre of the pinch map $X\cup CA\rightarrow \Sigma A$. By the way, the results of these homotopy groups have been used to make progress on recent popular topic about the homotopy decomposition of the (multiple) suspension of oriented closed manifolds.

And we gave the applications, including the classification theorems of the 1-connected CW complexes having CW types of the suspended $\mathbb{H} P^{3}$ localized at 3 , and the decompositions of the suspended self smashes.
