Abstract:We prove that the 2-primary $\pi_{61}$ is zero. As a consequence, the Kervaire invariant element $\theta_5$ is contained in the strictly defined 4-fold Toda bracket $\langle 2, \theta_4, \theta_4, 2\rangle$. Our result has a geometric corollary: the 61-sphere has a unique smooth structure and it is the last odd dimensional case - the only ones are $S^1, S^3, S^5$ and $S^{61}$. Our proof is a computation of homotopy groups of spheres. A major part of this paper is to prove an Adams differential $d_3(D_3) = B_3$. We prove this differential by introducing a new technique based on the algebraic and geometric Kahn-Priddy theorems. The success of this technique suggests a theoretical way to prove Adams differentials in the sphere spectrum inductively by use of differentials in truncated projective spectra.

Abstract:In this note we describe a family of arguments that link the homotopy-type of a) the diffeomorphism group of the disc $D^n$, b) the space of co-dimension one embedded spheres in a sphere and c) the homotopy-type of the space of co-dimension two trivial knots in a sphere. We also describe some natural extensions to these arguments. We begin with Cerf's `upgraded' proof of Smale's theorem, that the diffeomorphism group of the 2-sphere has the homotopy-type of the isometry group. This entails a canceling-handle construction, related to the `scanning' maps of Budney-Gabai. We further give a Bott-style variation on Cerf's construction, and a related Embedding Calculus framework for these constructions. We use these arguments to prove that the monoid of Schoenflies spheres is a group with respect to the connect-sum operation. This last result is perhaps only interesting when in dimension four, as in other dimensions it follows from the resolution of the various generalized Schoenflies problems.

Abstract:Using techniques in motivic homotopy theory, especially the theorem of Gheorghe, the second and the third author on the isomorphism between motivic Adams spectral sequence for $C\tau $ and the algebraic Novikov spectral sequence for $BP_{*}$ , we compute the classical and motivic stable homotopy groups of spheres from dimension 0 to 90, except for some carefully enumerated uncertainties.

Abstract:We describe the first stem of the stable homotopy groups of spheres by using some Puppe sequences, Thom complexes, K-Theory and Adams operations following the ideas of J. Frank Adams. We also touch upon the second and the third stems in this perspective. Neither spectral squences nor Steenrod operations are used.

Abstract:We consider a generalization of Sperner's lemma for a triangulation $T$ of $(m+1)$-discs $D$ whose vertices are colored in $c=n+2$ colors. A proper coloring of $T$ on the boundary of $D$ determines a simplicial mapping $f:S^m \to S^n$ and the element $x=[f]$ in $\pi_m(S^n)$. For any element $x$ in this homotopy group we define a non--negative integer $\mu(x)$. For some cases this invariant can be found explicitly. Namely, if $m=n$ then this number is the Brouwer degree of the mapping $f$. For the case $m=3, n=2$ we found a lower bound for $\mu(x)$, where $x$ is the Hopf invariant, and proved that $\mu(1)=\mu(2)=9$. The main result of this paper is the theorem that the number of fully colored $n$-simplexes in $T$ is not less than $\mu([f])$. To prove this theorem, we use an extension of the Pontryagin theorem for relative framed cobordisms

Abstract:For each positive integer $n$, we give a geometric description of the stably trivial elements of the group $\pi_n U_n/O_n$. In particular, we show that all such elements admit representatives whose tangencies with respect to a fixed Lagrangian plane consist only of folds. By the h-principle for the simplification of caustics, this has the following consequence: if a Lagrangian distribution is stably trivial from the viewpoint of a Lagrangian homotopy sphere, then by an ambient Hamiltonian isotopy one may deform the Lagrangian homotopy sphere so that its tangencies with respect to the Lagrangian distribution are only of fold type. Thus the stable triviality of the Lagrangian distribution, which is a necessary condition for the simplification of caustics to be possible, is also sufficient. We give applications of this result to the arborealization program and to the study of nearby Lagrangian homotopy spheres.

Abstract:We study the space of smooth marked hypersurfaces in a given linear system. Specifically, we prove a homology h-principle to compare it with a space of sections of an appropriate jet bundle. Using rational models, we compute its rational cohomology in a range of degrees, and deduce a homological stability result for hypersurfaces of increasing degree. We also describe the Hodge weights on the stable cohomology, and thereby connect our topological result to motivic results of Howe.

Abstract:In this paper we prove the vanishing of the bounded cohomology of $\text{Diff}^r_+(S^n)$ with real coefficients when $n\geq 4$ and $1\leq r\leq \infty$. This answers the question raised in \cite{FNS24} for $\geq 4$ dimensional spheres.

Abstract:We study the double homology associated to triangulated spheres and present two results. First, we explicitly compute the double homology for minimum degree sphere triangulations. Using a spectral sequence argument, we compute the effect of removing a maximal simplex of a non-neighborly sphere triangulation. Using these results and computational aid we generate complexes with exotic double homology rank. We also relate the double homology of a complex with how neighborly it is.

Abstract:This paper introduces an abelian group HTheta(V)(G) for all semi-linear homology G-spheres, which corresponds to a known abelian group Theta(V)(G) for all semi-linear homotopy G-spheres, where G is a compact Lie group and V is a G-representation with dim V-G>0. Then using equivariant surgery techniques, we study the relation between both HTheta(V)(G) and Theta(V)(G) when G is finite. The main result is that under the conditions that G-action is semi-free and dim V-dim V(G)greater than or equal to3 with dim V-G>0, the homomorphism T:Theta(V)(G)-->HTheta(V)(G) defined by T([Sigma](G))=<Sigma>(G) is an isomorphism if dim V(G)not equal3, 4, and a monomorphism if dim V-G=4. This is an equivariant analog of a well-known result in differential topology. Such a result is also applied to the equivariant inertia groups of semi-linear homology G-spheres.

Abstract:We show rational homological stability for the homotopy automorphisms and block diffeomorphims of iterated connected sums of products of spheres. The spheres can have different dimension, but need to satisfy a certain connectivity assumption. The main theorems of this paper extend homological stability results for automorphism spaces of connected sums of products of spheres of the same dimension by Berglund and Madsen.

Abstract:The weak geometric P=W conjecture of L. Katzarkov, A. Noll, P. Pandit, and C. Simpson states that, a smooth Betti moduli space of complex dimension $d$ over a punctured Riemann surface has the dual boundary complex homotopy equivalent to a sphere of dimension $d-1$. Via a microlocal geometric perspective, we verify this conjecture for a class of rank $n$ wild character varieties over the two-sphere with one puncture, associated with any Stokes Legendrian link defined by an $n$-strand positive braid.

On Some Rigidity Results of Hypersurfaces in A Sphere

Abstract:We study the weak stability index of an immersion ϕ: M → Sn+1 (1) ⊂ Rn+2 of an n-dimensional compact Riemannian manifold. We prove that the weak stability index of a compact hypersurface M with constant scalar curvature in Sn+1 (1), which is not totally umbilical, is greater than or equal to n + 2 if the mean curvature H1 and H3 are constant, and that the equality holds if and only if M is $\smash{S^m(c)\times S^{n-m}(\sqrt{1-c^2})}$. As an application, we show that the weak stability index of an n-dimensional compact hypersurface with constant scalar curvature in Sn+1 (1), which is neither totally umbilical nor a Clifford hypersurface, is greater than or equal to 2n + 4 if the mean curvature H1 and H3 are constant.

Abstract:To the integral symplectic group Sp(2g,Z) we associate two posets of which we prove that they have the Cohen-Macaulay property. As an application we show that the locus of marked decomposable principally polarized abelian varieties in the Siegel space of genus g has the homotopy type of a bouquet of (g-2)-spheres. This, in turn, implies that the rational homology of moduli space of (unmarked) principal polarized abelian varieties of genus g modulo the decomposable ones vanishes in degree g-2 or lower. Another application is an improved stability range for the homology of the symplectic groups over Euclidean rings. But the original motivation comes from envisaged applications to the homology of groups of Torelli type. The proof of our main result rests on a refined nerve theorem for posets that may have an interest in its own right.
Locally flat simple spheres in $\mathbb{C} P^2$

Abstract:The fundamental group of the complement of a locally flat surface in a $4$-manifold is called the knot group of the surface. In this article we prove that two locally flat $2$-spheres in $\mathbb{C} P^2$ with knot group $\mathbb{Z}_2$ are ambiently isotopic if they are homologous. This combines with work of Tristram and Lee-Wilczyński, as well as the classification of $\mathbb{Z}$-surfaces, to complete a proof of the statement: a class $d \in H_2(\mathbb{C} P^2) \cong \mathbb{Z}$ is represented by a locally flat $2$-sphere with abelian knot group if and only if $|d| \in \lbrace 0,1,2\rbrace$; and this sphere is unique up to ambient isotopy.

Abstract:We analyze a particle constrained to move on a $(p,q)$-torus knot within the framework of supervariable approach and deduce the BRST as well as anti-BRST symmetries. We also capture the nilpotency and absolute anti-commutativity of (anti-)BRST symmetries in this framework. Further, we show the existence of some novel symmetries in the system such as (anti-)co-BRST, bosonic, and ghost scale symmetries. We demonstrate that the conserved charges (corresponding to these symmetries) adhere to an algebra which is analogous to that of de Rham cohomological operators of differential geometry. As the charges (and the symmetries) find a physical realization with the differential geometrical operators, at the algebraic level, the present model presents a prototype for Hodge theory.
