Abstract:<p>In this work, the hollow spherical Co2 composite with micro-nanostructure has been successfully obtained through phosphating the cobalt-based metal-organic framework (MOF), which was prepared by solvothermal method. The MOF-derived Co2 hollow spheres are characterized by power X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Electrochemical measurements show that Co2 has a good performance with an overpotential of 328 mV for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) at a current density of 10 mA cm−2 and a Tafel slope of only 57 mV dec−1. In addition, it is found that the composite has a minimum charge transfer resistance and a high long-term stability in alkaline solution.</p>

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
### What problem does this paper attempt to solve? This paper primarily aims to develop an efficient oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalyst. Specifically, the paper addresses the following key issues through the following methods: 1. **Improving OER Catalytic Efficiency**: - The oxygen evolution reaction is the bottleneck step in the water electrolysis process because it involves four electron transfer steps. Therefore, finding an efficient and cost-effective OER catalyst is crucial. 2. **Developing New Catalyst Materials**: - The paper synthesizes a hollow spherical Co₂P@C composite derived from a metal-organic framework (MOF). This material has a micro-nano structure that can provide a larger surface area and more active sites, thereby significantly enhancing OER catalytic performance. 3. **Optimizing Synthesis Conditions**: - By controlling the phosphorization temperature (350°C, 450°C, and 550°C), the electrocatalytic performance of Co₂P@C composites synthesized under different conditions was studied. The results show that the sample synthesized at 450°C (Co-P-450-2) exhibits the best OER performance. 4. **Evaluating Catalyst Stability**: - In addition to high catalytic activity, this material also demonstrates good long-term stability, with the current only decaying to 92% of the initial value after 6 hours of electrochemical testing in an alkaline solution. In summary, this paper aims to develop an efficient, low-cost, and stable oxygen evolution reaction catalyst to promote the development of renewable energy technologies.
