Abstract:The virtual braid groups are generalizations of the classical braid groups. This paper gives an elementary proof that the classical braid group injects into the virtual braid group over the same number of strands.

Abstract:The aim of the present note is to show that the natural map from classical braids to virtual braids is an inclusion; this proof does not use any complete invariants of classical braids; it is based on the projection from virutal braids to classical braids (similar to the one given in \cite{Projection}); this projection is the idenitiy map on the set of virtual braids. The projection is well defined not only for the virtual braid group but also for the quotient group of the virtual (pure) braid group by the so-called virtualization move. The idea of this projection is closely related to the notion of parity and to the groups $G_{n}^{k}$, introduced by the author.

Abstract:We determine the lower central series of the virtual braid group VBn and of the kernels of two different projections of VBn in Sn: the normal closure of the Artin braid group Bn, that we will denote by Hn, and the so-called virtual pure braid group VPn, which is related to Yang Baxter equation. We describe relations between Hn and VPn and we provide a connection between virtual pure braids and the finite type invariant theory for virtual knots defined by Goussarov, Polyak and Viro.

Abstract:Representations of braid group $B_n$ on $n \geq 2$ strands by automorphisms of a free group of rank $n$ go back to Artin (1925). In 1991 Kauffman introduced a theory of virtual braids and virtual knots and links. The virtual braid group $VB_n$ on $n \geq 2$ strands is an extension of the classical braid group $B_n$ by the symmetric group $S_n$. In this paper we consider flat virtual braid groups $FVB_n$ on $n\geq 2$ strands and construct a family of representations of $FVB_n$ by automorphisms of free groups of rank $2n$. It has been established that these representations do not preserve the forbidden relations between classical and virtual generators. We investigated some algebraic properties of the constructed representations. In particular, we established conditions of faithfulness in case $n=2$ and proved that the kernel contains a free group of rank two for $n\ge3$.

Virtual Braids and Cluster Algebras

Abstract:In 2015 Hikami and Inoue constructed a representation of the braid group in terms of cluster algebra associated with the decomposition of the complement of the corresponding knot into ideal hyperbolic tetrahedra. This representation leads to the calculation of the hyperbolic volume of the complement of the knot that is the closure of the corresponding braid. In this paper, based on the Hikami-Inoue representation discussed above, we construct a representation for the virtual braid group. We show that the so-called "forbidden relations" do not hold in the image of the resulting representation. In addition, based on the developed method, we construct representations for the flat braid group and the flat virtual braid group.

Abstract:Twisted knot theory, introduced by M.O. Bourgoin, is a generalization of virtual knot theory. It naturally yields the notion of a twisted braid, which is closely related to the notion of a virtual braid due to Kauffman. In this paper, we first prove that any twisted link can be described as the closure of a twisted braid, which is unique up to certain basic moves. This is the analogue of the Alexander Theorem and the Markov Theorem for classical braids and links. Then we also give reduced presentations for the twisted braid group and the flat twisted braid group. These reduced presentations are based on the fact that these twisted braid groups on $n$ strands are generated by a single braiding element and a single bar element plus the generators of the symmetric group on $n$ letters.

Abstract:In this paper we study some subgroups and their decompositions in semi-direct product of the twisted virtual braid group $TVB_n$. In particular, the twisted virtual pure braid group $TVP_n$ is the kernel of an epimorphism of $TVB_n$ onto the symmetric group $S_n$. We find the set of generators and defining relations for $TVP_n$ and show that $TVB_n = TVP_n \rtimes S_n$. Further we prove that $TVP_n$ is a semi-direct product of some subgroup and abelian group $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$. As corollary we get that the virtual pure braid group $VP_n$ is a subgroup of $TVP_n$. Also, we construct some other epimorphism of $TVB_n$ onto $S_n$. Its kernel, $TVH_n$ is an analogous of $TVP_n$. We find its set of generators and defining relations and construct its decomposition in a semi-direct product.

Abstract:For virtual knot theory, the virtual braid group was defined by generalizing the braid group. It was proved that any virtual link can be obtained by the closure of a virtual braid. On the other hand, due to work by Jones et al., it is known that any (oriented) link is constructed from an element of Thompson's group $F$. In this paper, we define the ``virtual version'' of Thompson's group $F$ and prove that any virtual link is constructed from an element of the group.

Abstract:Virtual knots arise in the study of Gauss diagrams and Vassiliev invariants of usual knots. The group of virtual braids on n strings VB n and its Burau representation to GL n Z[t,t -1 ] also can be considered. The homological properties of the series of groups VB n and its Burau representation are studied. The following splitting of infinite loop spaces is proved for the plus-construction of the classifying space of the virtual braid group on the infinite number of strings: [Formula: see text] where Y is an infinite loop space. Connections with K * Z are discussed.

Abstract:Twin groups and virtual twin groups are planar analogues of braid groups and virtual braid groups, respectively. These groups play the role of braid groups in the Alexander-Markov correspondence for the theory of stable isotopy classes of immersed circles on orientable surfaces. Motivated by the general idea of Artin and a recent work of Bellingeri and Paris \cite{BellingeriParis2020}, we obtain a complete description of homomorphisms between virtual twin groups and symmetric groups, which as an application gives us the precise structure of the automorphism group of the virtual twin group $VT_n$ on $n \ge 2$ strands. This is achieved by showing the existence of an irreducible right-angled Coxeter group $KT_n$ inside $VT_n$. As a by-product, it also follows that the twin group $T_n$ embeds inside the virtual twin group $VT_n$, which is an analogue of a similar result for braid groups.

Abstract:Under a weight conservation condition when q is not a root of unity, Yang-Baxter relations are solved without the assumption that the upper-left triangle of each sub-block of the S matrix of the braid group representation (BGR) vanishes. A general form of BGR associated with B(n), C(n) and D(n) is obtained and shown to construct link invariants. The many-to-one correspondence between BGRs and link invariants is given.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss algebraic, combinatorial and topological properties of singular virtual braids. On the algebraic side, we state the relations between classical and singular virtual objects, in addition we discuss a Birman-like conjecture for the virtual case. On the topological and combinatorial side, we prove that there is a bijection between singular abstract braids, singular horizontal Gauss diagrams up to a certain equivalence relation, and singular virtual braids, in particular using singular horizontal Gauss diagrams we obtain a presentation of the singular pure virtual braid monoid.

Abstract:This article is dedicate to cabling on virtual braids. This construction gives a new generating set for the virtual pure braid group $VP_n$. Consequently we describe $VP_4$ as HNN-extension. As an application to classical braids, we find a new presentation of the Artin pure braid group $P_4$ in terms of the cabled generators.

Abstract:We prove that braid invariants coming from quantum gl(N) separate braids, by recalling that these invariants (properly decomposed) are all Vassiliev invariants, showing that all Vassiliev invariants of braids arise in this way, and reproving that Vassiliev invariants separate braids. We discuss some corollaries of this result and of our method of proof.

Abstract:We lift the lattice of translations in the extended affine Weyl group to a braid group action on the quantum affine algebra. This action fixes the Heisenberg subalgebra pointwise. Loop like generators are found for the algebra which satisfy the relations of Drinfel$'$d's new realization. Coproduct formulas are given and a PBW type basis is constructed.

Abstract:We show that the group cohomology of the diffeomorphisms of the disk with $n$ punctures has the cohomology of the braid group of $n$ strands as the summand. As an application of this method, we also prove that there is no cohomological obstruction to lifting the "standard" embedding $\mathrm{Br}_{2g+2}\hookrightarrow \mathrm{Mod}_{g,2}$ to a group homomorphism between diffeomorphism groups.

Abstract:Let $n\geq 2$. Let $VB_n$ (resp. $VP_n$) denote the virtual braid group (resp. virtual pure braid group), let $WB_n$ (resp. $WP_n$) denote the welded braid group (resp. welded pure braid group) and let $UVB_n$ (resp. $UVP_n$) denote the unrestricted virtual braid group (resp. unrestricted virtual pure braid group). In the first part of this paper we prove that, for $n\geq 4$, the group $VP_n$ and for $n\geq 3$ the groups $WP_n$ and $UVP_n$ are characteristic subgroups of $VB_n$, $WB_n$ and $UVB_n$, respectively. In the second part of the paper we show that, for $n\geq 2$, the virtual braid group $VB_n$, the unrestricted virtual pure braid group $UVP_n$, and the unrestricted virtual braid group $UVB_n$ have the R$_\infty$-property. As a consequence of the technique used for few strings we also prove that, for $n=2,3,4$, the welded braid group $WB_n$ has the R$_\infty$-property and that for $n=2$ the corresponding pure braid groups have the R$_\infty$-property. On the other hand for $n\geq 3$ it is unknown if the R$_\infty$-property holds or not for the virtual pure braid group $VP_n$ and the welded pure braid group $WP_n$.
