Abstract:For four kinds of 9Cr ferritic/martensitic (F/M) steels with different Si contents, the effect of hydrogen charging on their mechanical properties and corrosion resistance was studied. F/M steel was hydrogen charged by electrochemical method, the distribution of hydrogen in the steel was characterized by hydrogen microprint technique (HMT), and the mechanical properties of F/M steel before and after hydrogen charging were tested by slow strain rate tensile test, the fracture morphology was observed by scanning electron microscope, and the corrosion resistance performance before and after hydrogen charging was characterized by polarization curve and EIS. The results showed that hydrogen charging had no significant effect on the microstructure of the four F/M steels, hydrogen was mainly enriched in grain boundaries and precipitated phases after hydrogen charging; the mechanical properties of the steels decreased after hydrogen charging, and the brittle fracture tended to occur. The resistance to hydrogen embrittlement increased first and then decreased with the increase of Si content, reaching the highest at 0.7% Si content. For the F/M steel with no Si, hydrogen charging had little effect on corrosion resistance. For the F/M steels with Si contents of 0.7%, hydrogen deteriorated the oxide film, and hydrogen charging led to a significant decrease in corrosion resistance.
