Abstract:We study the rational Cherednik algebra $H_{t,c}(S_3,\h)$ of type $A_2$ in positive characteristic $p$, and its irreducible category $\mathcal{O}$ representations $L_{t,c}(\tau)$. For every possible value of $p,t,c$, and $\tau$ we calculate the Hilbert polynomial and the character of $L_{t,c}(\tau)$, and give explicit generators of the maximal proper graded submodule of the Verma module.

Abstract:In this paper we give an explicit presentation of the centre of the restricted rational Cherednik algebra $\overline{H}_c(S_n\wr\mathbb{Z}/\ell\mathbb{Z})$ for a particular choice of parameter $c$. More precisely, we describe the centre of the indecomposable blocks of $\overline{H}_c(S_n\wr\mathbb{Z}/\ell\mathbb{Z})$ in terms of generators and relations. The parameters $c$ for which this presentation is valid are such that the Calogero-Moser space is smooth. Furthermore, we demonstrate how the explicit presentation of the centre of $\overline{H}_c(S_n\wr\mathbb{Z}/\ell\mathbb{Z})$ can be directly derived from the set of $\ell$-multipartitions of $n$.

Harish-Chandra bimodules for type A rational Cherednik algebras

Abstract:We study Harish-Chandra bimodules for the rational Cherednik algebra associated to the symmetric group $S_{n}$. In particular, we show that for any parameter $c \in \mathbb{C}$, the category of Harish-Chandra $H_{c}$-bimodules admits a fully faithful embedding into the category $\mathcal{O}_{c}$, and describe the irreducibles in the image. We also construct a duality on the category of Harish-Chandra bimodules, and in fact we do this in a greater generality of quantizations of Nakajima quiver varieties. We use this duality, along with induction and restriction functors, to describe, as an abelian category, the smallest Serre subcategory of the category of Harish-Chandra bimodules containing the regular bimodule, as well as to explicitly describe the tensor products of its irreducible objects.

Abstract: Let $G$ be a real reductive group in Harish-Chandra's class. We derive some consequences of theory of coherent continuation representations to the counting of irreducible representations of $G$ with a given infinitesimal character and a given bound of the complex associated variety. When $G$ is a real classical group (including the real metaplectic group), we investigate the set of special unipotent representations of $G$ attached to $\check{\mathcal O}$, in the sense of Arthur and Barbasch-Vogan. Here $\check{\mathcal O}$ is a nilpotent adjoint orbit in the Langlands dual of $G$ (or the metaplectic dual of $G$ when $G$ is a real metaplectic group). We give a precise count for the number of special unipotent representations of $G$ attached to $\check{ \mathcal O}$. We also reduce the problem of constructing special unipotent representations attached to $\check{\mathcal O}$ to the case when $\check{\mathcal O}$ is analytically even (equivalently for a real classical group, has good parity in the sense of M{\oe}glin). The paper is the first in a series of two papers on the classification of special unipotent representations of real classical groups.

Abstract:Let G be a real reductive group, and let chi be a character of a reductive subgroup H of G. We construct chi-invariant linear functionals on certain cohomologically induced representations of G, and we show that these linear functionals do not vanish on the bottom layers. Applying this construction, we prove two Archimedean nonvanishing hypotheses which are vital to the arithmetic study of special values of certain L-functions via modular symbols.
Classifying three-character RCFTs with Wronskian index equalling 3 or 4

Abstract:In the Mathur-Mukhi-Sen (MMS) classification scheme for rational conformal field theories (RCFTs), a RCFT is identified by a pair of non-negative integers $\mathbf{[n, \ell]}$, with $\mathbf{n}$ being the number of characters and $\mathbf{\ell}$ the Wronskian index. The modular linear differential equation (MLDE) that the characters of a RCFT solve are labelled similarly. All RCFTs with a given $\mathbf{[n, \ell]}$ solve the modular linear differential equation (MLDE) labelled by the same $\mathbf{[n, \ell]}$. With the goal of classifying $\mathbf{[3,3]}$ and $\mathbf{[3,4]}$ CFTs, we set-up and solve those MLDEs, each of which is a three-parameter non-rigid MLDE, for character-like solutions. In the former case, we obtain four infinite families and a discrete set of $15$ solutions, all in the range $0 < c \leq 32$. Amongst these $\mathbf{[3,3]}$ character-like solutions, we find pairs of them that form coset-bilinear relations with meromorphic CFTs/characters of central charges $16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64$. There are six families of coset-bilinear relations where both the RCFTs of the pair are drawn from the infinite families of solutions. There are an additional $23$ coset-bilinear relations between character-like solutions of the discrete set. The coset-bilinear relations should help in identifying the $\mathbf{[3,3]}$ CFTs. In the $\mathbf{[3,4]}$ case, we obtain nine character-like solutions each of which is a $\mathbf{[2,2]}$ character-like solution adjoined with a constant character.

Imaginary Schur-Weyl duality for quiver Hecke superalgebras

Abstract:The irreducible modules over quiver Hecke superalgebras $R_\theta$ can be classified in terms of cuspidal modules. To an indivisible positive root $\alpha$ and a non-negative integer $d$, one associates a quotient $\bar R_{d\alpha}$ of $R_{d\alpha}$ called the cuspidal algebra. If the root $\alpha$ is real, the cuspidal algebra is well-understood. But if $\alpha=\delta$, the imaginary null-root, the {\em imaginary cuspidal algebra} $\bar R_{d\delta}$ is rather mysterious. It has been known that the number of the isomorphism classes of the irreducible $\bar R_{d\delta}$-modules equals the number of the $\ell$-multipartitions of $d$, but there has been no way to canonically associate an irreducible $\bar R_{d\delta}$-module to such a multipartiton. The imaginary cuspidal algebra is especially important because of its connections to the RoCK blocks of the double covers of symmetric and alternating groups. We undertake a detailed study of the imaginary cuspidal algebra and its representation theory. We use the so-called Gelfand-Graev idempotents and subtle degree and parity shifts to construct a (graded) Morita (super)equivalent algebra $\mathsf{C}(n,d)$ (for any $n\geq d$). The advantage of the algebra $\mathsf{C}(n,d)$ is that, unlike $\bar R_{d\delta}$, it is non-negatively graded. Moreover, the degree zero component $\mathsf{C}(n,d)^0$ is shown to be isomorphic to the direct sum of tensor products of $\ell$ copies of the classical Schur algebras. This gives the classification (and the description of dimensions/characters, etc.) of the irreducible $\mathsf{C}(n,d)$-modules, and hence of the irreducible $\bar R_{d\delta}$-modules, in terms of the classical Schur algebras. In particular, this allows us to canonically label these by the $\ell$-multipartitions of $d$. The results of this paper will be used in our future work on RoCK blocks of the double covers of symmetric groups.

Two invariant subalgebras of rational Cherednik algebras

Abstract:Originally motivated by connections to integrable systems, two natural subalgebras of the rational Cherednik algebra have been considered in the literature. The first is the subalgebra generated by all degree zero elements and the second is the Dunkl angular momentum subalgebra. In this article, we study the ring-theoretic and homological properties of these algebras. Our approach is to realise them as rings of invariants under the action of certain reductive subgroups of $\mathrm{SL_2}$. This allows us to describe their centres. Moreover, we show that they are Auslander-Gorenstein and Cohen-Macaulay and, at $t = 0$, give rise to prime PI-algebras whose PI-degree we compute. Since the degree zero subalgebra can be realized as the ring of invariants for the maximal torus $\mathrm{T} \subset \mathrm{SL_2}$ and the action of this torus on the rational Cherednik algebra is Hamiltonian, we also consider its (quantum) Hamiltonian reduction with respect to $\mathrm{T}$. At $t = 1$, this is a filtered quantization of the quotient of the minimal nilpotent orbit closure $\overline{\mathcal{O}}_{\min}$ in $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ by the reflection group $W$. At $t = 0$, we get a graded Poisson deformation of the symplectic singularity $\overline{\mathcal{O}}_{\min}/W$.

Irreducible components of varieties of representations of a class of finite dimensional algebras

Abstract:We study the representations of a class of non-commutative polynomial algebras truncated at degree 3, with one additional relation. We determine the irreducible components of their varieties of representations. We do this by showing that the subvarieties with fixed radical or socle layering are irreducible. We then compare the coverings we get using radical and socle layerings to determine the components.

Abstract:Let $\rho_\ell$ be a semisimple $\ell$-adic representation of a number field $K$ that is unramified almost everywhere. We introduce a new notion called weak abelian direct summands of $\rho_\ell$ and completely characterize them, for example, if the algebraic monodromy of $\rho_\ell$ is connected. If $\rho_\ell$ is in addition $E$-rational for some number field $E$, we prove that the weak abelian direct summands are locally algebraic (and thus de Rham). We also show that the weak abelian parts of a connected semisimple Serre compatible system form again such a system. Using our results on weak abelian direct summands, when $K$ is totally real and $\rho_\ell$ is the three-dimensional $\ell$-adic representation attached to a regular algebraic cuspidal automorphic, not necessarily polarizable representation $\pi$ of $\mathrm{GL}_3(\mathbb{A}_K)$ together with an isomorphism $\mathbb{C}\simeq \overline{\mathbb{Q}}_\ell$, we prove that $\rho_\ell$ is irreducible. We deduce in this case also some $\ell$-adic Hodge theoretic properties of $\rho_\ell$ if $\ell$ belongs to a Dirichlet density one set of primes.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a smooth, separated, geometrically connected scheme defined over a number field $K$ and $\{\rho_\lambda\}_\lambda$ a system of n-dimensional semisimple $\lambda$-adic representations of the étale fundamental group of $X$ such that for each closed point $x$ of $X$, the specialization $\{\rho_{\lambda,x}\}_\lambda$ is a compatible system of Galois representations under mild local conditions. For almost all $\lambda$, we prove that any type A irreducible subrepresentation of $\rho_\lambda\otimes \bar{\mathbb{Q}}_\ell$ is residually irreducible. When $K$ is totally real or CM, $n\leq 6$, and $\{\rho_\lambda\}_\lambda$ is the compatible system of Galois representations of $K$ attached to a regular algebraic, polarized, cuspidal automorphic representation of $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{A}_K)$, for almost all $\lambda$ we prove that $\rho_\lambda\otimes\bar{\mathbb{Q}}_\ell$ is (i) irreducible and (ii) residually irreducible if in addition $K=\mathbb{Q}$.

Abstract:Let $F$ be a non-archimedean local field of characteristic different from 2 and residual characteristic $p$. This paper concerns the $\ell$-modular representations of a connected reductive group $G$ distinguished by a Galois involution, with $\ell$ an odd prime different from $p$. We start by proving a general theorem allowing to lift supercuspidal $\overline{\mathbb{F}}_{\ell}$-representations of $\mathrm{GL}_n(F)$ distinguished by an arbitrary closed subgroup $H$ to a distinguished supercuspidal $\overline{\mathbb{Q}}_{\ell}$-representation. Given a quadratic field extension $E/F$ and an irreducible $\overline{\mathbb{F}}_{\ell}$-representation $\pi$ of $\mathrm{GL}_n(E)$, we verify the Jacquet conjecture in the modular setting that if the Langlands parameter $\phi_\pi$ is irreducible and conjugate-self-dual, then $\pi$ is either $\mathrm{GL}_n(F)$-distinguished or $(\mathrm{GL}_n(F),\omega_{E/F})$-distinguished (where $\omega_{E/F}$ is the quadratic character of $F^\times$ associated to the quadratic field extension $E/F$ by the local class field theory), but not both, which extends one result of Sécherre to the case $p=2$. We give another application of our lifting theorem for supercuspidal representations distinguished by a unitary involution, extending one result of Zou to $p=2$.

Degenerate conformal blocks for the $W_3$ algebra at c=2 and Specht polynomials

Abstract:We study a homogeneous system of $d+8$ linear partial differential equations (PDEs) in $d$ variables arising from two-dimensional Conformal Field Theories (CFTs) with a $W_3$-symmetry algebra. In the CFT context, $d$ PDEs are third order and correspond to the null-state equations, whereas the remaining 8 PDEs (five being second order and three being first order) correspond to the $W_3$ global Ward identities. In the case of central charge $c=2$, we construct a subspace of the space of all solutions which grow no faster than a power law. We call this subspace the space of $W_3$ conformal blocks, and we provide a basis expressed in terms of Specht polynomials associated with column-strict, rectangular Young tableaux with three columns. The dimension of this space is a Kotska number and it coincides with CFT predictions, hence we conjecture that it exhausts the space of all solutions having a power law bound. Moreover, we prove that the space of $W_3$ conformal blocks is an irreducible representation of a certain diagram algebra defined from $\mathfrak{sl}_3$ webs that we call Kuperberg algebra. Finally, we formulate a precise conjecture relating the $W_3$ conformal blocks at $c=2$ to scaling limits of probabilities in the triple dimer model recently studied by Kenyon and Shi. We verify the conjecture for explicit examples up to $d=6$. For more general central charges, we expect that $W_3$ conformal blocks are related to scaling limits of probabilities in lattice models based on $\mathfrak{sl}_3$ webs.

Abstract:We classify globally irreducible representations of alternating groups and double covers of symmetric and alternating groups. In order to achieve this classification we also completely characterise irreducible representations of such groups which reduce almost homogeneously in every characteristic. This also allows us to classify irreducible representations that remain irreducible in every characteristic. In particular we show that, apart from finitely many exceptions, for any of these three questions such representations are either $1$-dimensional or basic spin representations.
