Abstract:The general solution for the plane problem of magneto-electro-elastic media is derived in terms of four harmonic functions using strict differential operator theory for the case of distinct material eigenvalues. The two-dimensional fundamental solution for an infinite magneto-electro-elastic plane is further obtained by virtue of the trial-and-error method on the basis of the general solution. A boundary element method program is finally implemented to perform the numerical calculations. It is found that the BEM results agree well with those of the two exact solutions, which are also derived in this paper.

Abstract:The global solvability and local uniqueness of boundary value problem's solutions for stationary magnetic hydrodynamic equations for heat conducting fluid with variable coefficients are proved. Maximum and minimum principle for temperature is established. Multiplicative control problem for the model under consideration is studied. The role of the control is played by the high thermal conductivity coefficient. For the power-low thermal exchange and the thermal conductivity coefficients the optimality system for considered control problem is obtained. The solvability of control problem is proved under minimal requirements for the smoothness of control; and optimality system is derived with minimal smoothness of the specified functions of boundary value problem.

Abstract:By considering a general form of the Landau-Lifshitz equation under the influence of a homogeneous external magnetic fields, we prove that for a ferromagnetic body which occupies a bounded domain Ω in ℝ3 there exists a global weak solution either for the Dirichlet problem or for the Neumann problem. Although there is, in general, non-uniqueness result for the Landau-Lifshitz equation, the uniqueness result for the dynamic equation with constant initial data, which connects with the ground state of the magnetization in physical meanings, is pointed out.
Nonlinear Hyperbolic-Elliptic Systems in the Bounded Domain

Abstract:In the article we study a hyperbolic-elliptic system of PDE. The system can describe two different physical phenomena: 1st one is the motion of magnetic vortices in the II-type superconductor and 2nd one \ is the collective motion of cells. Motivated by real physics, we consider this system with boundary conditions, describing the flux of vortices (and cells, respectively) through the boundary of the domain. We prove the global solvability of this problem.\ To show the solvability result we use a "viscous" parabolic-elliptic system. Since the viscous solutions do not have a compactness property, we justify the limit transition on a vanishing viscosity, using a kinetic formulation of our problem. As the final result of all considerations we have solved a very important question related with a so-called "boundary layer problem", showing the strong convergence of the viscous solutions to the solution of our hyperbolic-elliptic system.

Abstract:The (1+1)-dimensional nonlinear boundary value problem, modeling the process of melting and evaporation of metals, is studied by means of the classical Lie symmetry method. All possible Lie operators of the nonlinear heat equation, which allow us to reduce the problem to the boundary value problem for the system of ordinary differential equations, are found. The forms of heat conductivity coefficients are established when the given problem can be analytically solved in an explicit form.

Abstract:An initial-boundary value problem for a Sobolev-type equation from the theory of ion-acoustic plasma waves is considered. The problem is reduced to an equivalent abstract integral equation. The local solvability of the equation is proved using the contraction mapping principle. Next, the bootstrap method is employed to improve the smoothness of the solution. Finally, the test function method with a certain sufficient condition is used to obtain a finite time blow-up result and an upper bound on the blow-up time is found.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence and limiting behaviour of solutions to a semilinear elliptic equation arising from confined plasma problem in dimension two where is a smooth bounded domain, is the outward unit normal to the boundary , and are given constants and is an unknown constant. Under some assumptions on and , we prove that there exists a family of solutions concentrating near strict local minimum points of as . Here is the Robin function of in . The prescribed functions and can be very general. The result is proved by regarding as a and using the vorticity method, that is, solving a maximization problem for vorticity and analysing the asymptotic behaviour of maximizers. Existence of solutions concentrating near several points is also obtained.

Abstract:A mathematical model of the process of heat diffusion in a closed metal wire is considered. This wire is wrapped around a thin sheet of insulation material. We assume that the insulation is slightly permeable. Because of this, the temperature at the point of the wire on one side of the insulation influences the diffusion process in the wire on the other side of the insulation. Thus, the standard heat equation will change and an extra term with involution will be added. When modeling of this process there arises an initial-boundary value problem for a one-dimensional heat equation with involution and with a boundary condition of periodic type with respect to a spatial variable. We prove the well-posedness of the formulated problem in the class of strong generalized solutions. The use of the method of separation of variables leads to a spectral problem for an ordinary differential operator with involution at the highest derivative. All eigenfunctions of the problem are constructed. In the case when all eigenvalues of the problem are simple, the system of eigenfunctions does not form an unconditional basis. A criterion when this spectral problem can have an infinite number of multiple eigenvalues is proved. Corresponding root subspaces consist of one eigenfunction and one associated function. We prove that the system of root functions forms an unconditional basis and can be used for constructing a solution of the heat conduction problem by the method of separation of variables. We also consider an inverse problem. This is the problem on restoring (simultaneously with solving) of an unknown stationary source of external influence with respect to an additionally known final state. The existence of a unique solution of this inverse problem and its stability with respect to initial and final data are proved.

Abstract:The first boundary value problem for a one-dimensional nonlinear heat equation is considered, where the heat conductivity coefficient and the power function of heat sources have a power-law dependence on temperature. For a numerical analysis of this problem, it is proposed to use the method of two-sided approximations based on the method of Green’s functions. After replacing the unknown function, the boundary value problem is reduced to the Hammerstein integral equation, which is considered as a nonlinear operator equation in a semi-ordered Banach space. The conditions for the existence of a single positive solution of the problem and the conditions for two-sided convergence of successive approximations to it are obtained. The developed method is programmatically implemented and researched in solving test problems. The results of the computational experiment are illustrated by graphical and tabular information. The conducted experiments confirmed the efficiency and effectiveness of the developed method that allowed recommending its practical use for solving problems of system analysis and mathematical modeling of nonlinear processes.

Abstract:Initial-boundary value problems are considered for homogeneous parabolic systems with Dini-continuous coefficients and zero initial conditions in a semibounded plane domain with a nonsmooth lateral boundary admitting cusps, on which general boundary conditions with variable coefficients are given. A theorem on unique classical solvability of these problems in the space of functions that are continuous and bounded together with their first spatial derivatives in the closure of the domain is proved by applying the boundary integral equation method. A representation of the resulting solutions in the form of vector single-layer potentials is given.

A generalized Liouville equation and magnetic stability

Abstract:This work considers two related families of nonlinear and nonlocal problems in the plane $\mathbb{R}^2$. The first main result derives the general integrable solution to a generalized Liouville equation using the Wronskian of two coprime complex polynomials. The second main result concerns an application to a generalized Ladyzhenskaya-Gagliardo-Nirenberg interpolation inequality, with a single real parameter $\beta$ interpreted as the strength of a magnetic self-interaction. The optimal constant of the inequality and the corresponding minimizers of the quotient are studied and it is proved that for $\beta \ge 2$, for which the constant equals $2\pi\beta$, such minimizers only exist at quantized $\beta \in 2\mathbb{N}$ corresponding to nonlinear generalizations of Landau levels with densities solving the generalized Liouville equation. This latter problem originates from the study of self-dual vortex solitons in the abelian Chern-Simons-Higgs theory and from the average-field-Pauli effective theory of anyons, i.e. quantum particles with statistics intermediate to bosons and fermions. An immediate application is given to Keller-Lieb-Thirring stability bounds for a gas of such anyons which self-interact magnetically (vector nonlocal repulsion) as well as electrostatically (scalar local/point attraction), thus generalizing the stability theory of the 2D cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation.

Abstract:The influence of a magnetic field on thermal convection in partially-ionized plasma has profound implications in both astrophysical and laboratory environments. This study explores the impact of a magnetic field on thermal convection within a compressible, partially-ionized plasma layer saturating a porous medium, confined by various combinations of bounding surfaces. Additionally, the effects of medium permeability, collisional frequency and compressibility on the onset of thermal convection are examined. The study employs both nonlinear analysis, using the energy method, and linear analysis, via the normal mode approach, with eigenvalue problems formulated for each. Numerical analysis is performed using the Galerkin-weighted residual method. The findings highlight the significant role of collisional frequency in energy dissipation. Validation of the principle of exchange of stability in the linear analysis suggests the absence of oscillatory convection modes. Results demonstrate that the Rayleigh–Darcy number is the same across both nonlinear and linear analyses, indicating no subcritical region and confirming global stability. Furthermore, the study shows that the magnetic field, medium permeability and compressibility all contribute to delaying the onset of thermal convection. It also concludes that partially-ionized plasma confined between rigid–rigid boundaries exhibits greater thermal stability compared to other boundary configurations.

Abstract:Steady state temperature fields in domains with temperature dependent heat conductivity and mixed boundary conditions involving a temperature dependent heat transfer coefficient and radiation were considered. The nonlinear heat conduction equation was transformed into Laplace's equation using Kirchhoff's transform. Due to this transform the non-linearity is transferred from the differential equation only to third kind boundary conditions. The remaining boundary conditions of first and second kind, became linear. Applying Green's theorem to transformed problem results in integral equation containing boundary integrals only. Discretization of this integral equation gives a system of algebraic equations with linear matrix and nonlinear right hand sides. Such set of equations can be solved iteratively. Numerical examples are included.

Abstract:We study the existence of multiple positive solutions for a nonlinear third-order differential equation subject to various nonlocal boundary conditions. The boundary conditions that we study contain Stieltjes integral and include the special cases of m-point conditions and integral conditions. The main tool in the proof of our result is Krasnosel’skii’s fixed point theorem. To illustrate the applicability of the obtained results, we consider examples.

Abstract:In this article, we consider the global existence and uniqueness of the solution to the 2D incompressible non-resistive MHD system with non-equilibrium background magnetic field. Our result implies that a strong enough non-equilibrium background magnetic field will guarantee the stability of the nonlinear MHD system. Beside the classical energy method, the interpolation inequalities and the algebraic structure of the equations coming from the incompressibility of the fluid are crucial in our arguments.

Abstract:A boundary value problem for a second-order parabolic equation with a non-self-adjoint operator is considered. Such problems are mathematicalmodels for a number of problems, describing convective-diffusion processes of matter transfer, breakdown mechanisms of laser activity in plasma, etc. While studying the physics of breakdown, one should take into account the avalanche-like increase in the number of free electrons due to multiphoton ionization processes under the influence of optical pulses. This requires the inclusion of related boundary conditions in the problem formulation. An important circumstance that must be taken into account when developing a method for solving the problem is fulfillment of a certain conservation law for its solution. To solve the boundary value problem an approach based on the finite difference method is proposed. The approximation of the equation and boundary conditions is constructed so that the difference scheme is completely conservative. It approximates the original problem with the second order in the spatial variable and in time, and it has the second order of convergence. To effectively solve a system of linear algebraic equations at each time layer, the sweep method for complex systems in combination with the non-monotonic sweep method for systems with a tridiagonal matrix is used. Software based on computer mathematics MATLAB is developed to perform numerical calculations. It is obtained an approximate solution of an applied problem for different instants of time, as well as values of an absorption coefficient, the change in sign of which determines the transition of the plasma in a laser-active state.

Abstract:For a system of nonlinear integral equations on the semiaxis, we study a boundary value problem whose matrix kernel has unit spectral radius. This boundary value problem has applications in various areas of physics and biology. In particular, such problems arise in the dynamical theory of -adic strings for the scalar field of tachyons, in the mathematical theory of spread of epidemic diseases, in the kinetic theory of gases, and in the theory of radiative transfer. The questions of the existence, absence, and uniqueness of a nontrivial solution of this boundary value problem are discussed. In particular, it is proved that a boundary value problem with a zero boundary conditions at infinity has only a trivial solution in the class of nonnegative and bounded functions. It is also proved that if at least one of the values at infinity is positive, then this problem has a convex nontrivial nonnegative bounded and continuous solution. At the end of this paper, examples of the matrix kernel and nonlinearity are provided that satisfy all the conditions of the proved theorems.
