Abstract:Herein, we present a novel metamaterial absorber consisting of temperature tunable sub-wavelength curved coupled microstripline patterned indium antimonide (InSb) resonator on the gold metal film. The numerical calculations reveal that the intended absorber can achieve 99.94% absorption at 1.846 THz at an external temperature of 295K. The corresponding full width at half maximum (FWHM) bandwidth is noted as 0.078 THz. It provides an extremely high-temperature sensitivity of 16.1 GHz/K. In addition, it is highly insensitive to wave polarization for both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) modes due to its axi-symmetric structure. The absorption methodology has been elucidated with the aid of relative input impedance, electric field intensity, and power loss density plots at the resonant frequency. Moreover, parametric analyses carried out in this work illustrate that the absorption profile of the presented absorber can be controlled in an effective manner by carefully selecting the design parameters of the InSb resonator. Hence, our proposed absorber can be potentially deployed for temperature sensing or detection applications due to its high-temperature sensitivity and perfect absorptivity.
