Abstract:Wire-arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) was employed to fabricate a multilayer structure (MS) and a column array structure (CAS) via 1.2-mm SUS304 and SUS410 welding wires, followed by warm rolling. This study explored the differences in microstructure transformation, tensile properties, and impact properties between the two configurations. The findings reveal pronounced disparities between samples processed by warm rolling and those processed by WAAM. Specifically, upon rolling at a reduction ratio of 87% at 800 °C, the microstructure evolved from dendritic cellular grains to ultrafine fibrous grains, and the interface between the two components became relatively flat from the bending state. The tensile strength of the MS decreased from 967 to 854 MPa, whereas its fracture elongation significantly increased from 9.3 to 40.3%. Conversely, the tensile strength of the CAS increased from 875 to 958 MPa, and the fracture elongation increased from 14.5 to 25.2%. Additionally, as the impact temperature decreased, the impact energy of the warm-rolled MS progressively decreased, whereas that of the warm-rolled CAS initially increased but then decreased. Consequently, the experimental results suggest that CAS possesses superior comprehensive mechanical properties compared with those of MS.
