Abstract:This study investigated the effect of fabric parameters on the effective elastic properties in plain-woven hemp fiber reinforced epoxy composite plates. Through numerical analyses using ANSYS code, the method used is Representative Volume Element (RVE), the study aims to enhance our understanding of how fabric structure affects these properties, advocating for a more precise approach in composite material design. The chosen variables for the plain-woven fabric include yarn fiber volume fraction (YFVF), shear angle, and yarn spacing (YS). Utilizing the composite homogenization method with ANSYS software code, the effective elastic properties for each parameter were determined. The findings indicate that an increased yarn fiber volume fraction ratio generally leads to a decrease in elastic properties values, except for Poisson's ratio in the xy-plane. Furthermore, an increase in yarn spacing results in elevated elastic moduli in all directions, as well as increased shear modulus and Poisson's ratio in the xy-plane, while negatively impacting shear moduli and Poisson's ratio in the yz-plane and zx-plane. Notably, aligned fabrics along the x-axis exhibit superior results compared to fabrics with symmetric fiber orientation along the x-axis.
