Abstract:Let $X$ be a Banach space and $F: [0, 1] \rightarrow 2^{X} \setminus \{ \varnothing \}$ be a bounded multifunction. We study properties of the set $I(F)$ of limits in Hausdorff distance of Riemann integral sums of $F$. The main results are: (1) $I(F)$ is convex in the case of finite-dimensional $X$; (2) $I(F) = I(\operatorname{conv} F)$ in B-convex spaces or for compact-valued multifunctions; (3) $I(F)$ consists of convex sets whenever $X$ is B-convex; (4) $I(F)$ is star-shaped (thus non-empty) for compact-valued multifunctions in separable spaces. (5) For each infinite-dimensional Banach space there is a bounded multifunction with empty $I(F)$.

Abstract:In this paper, we first present some sufficient conditions for the upper semicontinuity and/or the continuity of the Bregman farthest-point map $Q_C^g$ and the relative farthest-point map $S_C^g$ for a nonempty $D$-maximally approximately compact subset $C$ of a Banach space $X$. We next present certain sufficient conditions as well as equivalent conditions for a Klee set to be singleton in a Banach space $X$. Our results extend and/or improve the corresponding ones of [Bauschke, et al., J. Approx. Theory, 158 (2009), pp. 170-183] to infinite dimensional spaces.

Abstract:We introduce and study the class of almost limited sets in Banach lattices, that is, sets on which every disjoint weak⁎ null sequence of functionals converges uniformly to zero. It is established that a Banach lattice has order continuous norm if and only if almost limited sets and L-weakly compact sets coincide. In particular, in terms of almost Dunford–Pettis operators into c0, we give an operator characterization of those σ-Dedekind complete Banach lattices whose relatively weakly compact sets are almost limited, that is, for a σ-Dedekind Banach lattice E, every relatively weakly compact set in E is almost limited if and only if every continuous linear operator T:E→c0 is an almost Dunford–Pettis operator.

Abstract:We show that for a strongly convergent sequence of geometrically finite Kleinian groups with geometrically finite limit, the Cannon-Thurston maps of limit sets converge uniformly. If however the algebraic and geometric limits differ, as in the well known examples due to Kerckhoff and Thurston, then provided the geometric limit is geometrically finite, the maps of limit sets converge pointwise but not uniformly.

Abstract:In this article we propose a conception of mixed limits of functional spaces as the case, when the upper limit (projective limit of inductive limits) and the lower limit (inductive limit of projective limits) coincide as topological spaces, which are generalization of inductive and projective limits of functional spaces. We show a cases where these mixed limits are naturally obtained as the limit spaces of non-commutative $L_p$-type spaces associated with the sequence of operators. Also, we obtain results on the properties of limit spaces, we show that limit spaces of Banach algebras are (LF)-spaces, if they converge.

We consider the family of completions of a given set and its size; we also study in detail the relationships concerning diameters, radii, and centers. Abstract:We consider the question of continuity of limit sets for sequences of geometrically finite subgroups of isometry groups of rank-one symmetric spaces, and prove analogues of classical (Kleinian) theorems in this context. In particular we show that, assuming strong convergence of the sequence of subgroups, the limit sets vary continuously with respect to Hausdorff distance, and if the sequence is weakly type-preserving, the sequence of Cannon-Thurston maps also converges uniformly to a limiting Cannon-Thurston map. Our approach uses the theory of extended geometrically finite representations, developed recently by the second author.

Abstract:We give an integrability criterion for a projective limit of Banach distributions on a Fréchet manifold which is a projective limit of Banach manifolds. This leads to a result of integrability of projective limit of involutive bundles on a projective sequence of Banach manifolds. This can be seen as a version of Frobenius Theorem in Fréchet setting. As consequence, we obtain a version of the third Lie theorem for a Fréchet-Lie group which is a submersive projective limit of Banach Lie groups. We also give an application to a sequence of prolongations of a Banach Lie algebroid.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the concept of limit, one of the basic concepts of mathematical analysis. At a point $a\in{\mathbb{R}}$, the limit of a function $f$ from $A\subset\mathbb{R}$ to $\mathbb{R}$ is $L\in{\mathbb{R}}$ if and only if there exists $\delta>0$ such that the set $$ \left\{x\in\left(\left(a-\delta,a+\delta\right)\backslash\left\{a\right\}\right)\cap A:\lvert f\left(x\right)-L\rvert \ge\varepsilon\right\} $$ is the empty set for each $\varepsilon>0$. This study investigates what happens when the above set is not empty. More clearly, when we take the above set as finite or a set whose accumulation points is empty, we prove that the limit concept does not change. However, when we take the above set as countable or a set of measure zero, we prove that they are new limit concepts. Also, we show that these new limit concepts have the properties of existence, uniqueness, additivity, multiplicativity, etc. Finally, by giving some examples, we compare the limit concepts we have obtained with the previous ones.

Abstract:We study relationships between a set-valued map and its inverse limits about the notion of periodic point set, transitivity, sensitivity and Devaney chaos. Density of periodic point set of a set-valued map and its inverse limits implies each other. Sensitivity of a set-valued map and its inverse limits does not imply each other. Transitivity and Devaney chaos of generalized inverse limits implies the corresponding property of a set-valued map.

Abstract:Let $1\leq p\leq q\leq\infty.$ Being motivated by the classical notions of limited, $p$-limited and coarse $p$-limited subsets of a Banach space, we introduce and study $(p,q)$-limited subsets and their equicontinuous versions and coarse $p$-limited subsets of an arbitrary locally convex space $E$. Operator characterizations of these classes are given. We compare these classes with the classes of bounded, (pre)compact, weakly (pre)compact and relatively weakly sequentially (pre)compact sets. If $E$ is a Banach space, we show that the class of coarse $1$-limited subsets of $E$ coincides with the class of $(1,\infty)$-limited sets, and if $1<p<\infty$, then the class of coarse $p$-limited sets in $E$ coincides with the class of $p$-$(V^\ast)$ sets of Pełczyński. We also generalize a known theorem of Grothendieck.

Abstract:Combined with properities of topological space,this paper discussed the upper and lower limits of a function,obtained some results which relatively similar to the ones on real line.First,the concept of upper and lower limits of a function in topological space is defined.Then it is proved that upper and lower limits of a function on first-countable topological space is the largest(smallest) element of sub-limit set.Also,the equivalent conditions and some properities of the function with monotone decreasing countable neighborhood basis at a point are obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a fixed metric space (possibly an oriented Riemannian manifold with boundary) with an increasing sequence of distance functions and a uniform upper bound on diameter. When the metric space endowed with the pointwise limit of these distances is compact, then there is uniform and Gromov-Hausdorff (GH) convergence to this limit. When the metric space also has an integral current structure of uniformly bounded total mass (as is true for an oriented Riemannian manifold with boundary that has a uniform bound on total volume), we prove volume preserving intrinsic flat convergence to a subset of the GH limit whose closure is the whole GH limit. We provide a review of all notions and have a list of open questions at the end. Dedicated to Xiaochun Rong.
