Abstract:TiNb2O7 (TNO) is a potential high-power type anode owing to extremely fast charging speed while its actual applicationis limited by the inherent low electron/ion conductivity of TNO. Herein, the TNO doped with alkaline earth metals strontium (Sr) is designed to overcome these drawbacks. The ion conductivity is enhanced due to the expansion of the ion transport path caused by the doping of Sr with larger ion radius. Meanwhile, more oxygen vacancies change the electronic structure of the material, thereby improving the electronic conductivities. Therefore, the electrochemical performance of TNO is improved by the doping of Sr2+, where the Sr0.01-TNO electrode shows an excellent discharge capacity of 237.0 mAh g-1 at 1 C after 150 cycling and outstanding rate capability, especially at 40 C (196 mAh g-1). Furthermore, the LiFePO4|Sr0.01-TNO full battery demonstrates excellent cycle stability, maintaining a stable structure and morphology after cycling. This work offers insights for developing rapid-charging TNO-based lithium ions batteries with longer cycle life and high-rate performance.
