Abstract:Bad Genius is a thought-provoking Thai movie that profoundly reflects the modern side of society by telling the story of examination malpractice and social class issues. The purpose of this article is to analyze the social issues involved in the film and explore the criticism of the education system and social injustice. At the same time, the article will introduce the Chinese audience's evaluation of the movie in order to analyze the reasons for its high box office in the Chinese market. By comparing the educational background and social values of Thailand and China, we can better understand why Bad Genius was well received in China, and thus get a glimpse of the resonance of the movie with audiences from different cultural backgrounds.

Abstract:Recognizing the limited understanding of China’s modernization among foreign audiences, Chinese university students undertook a 20-week experiment in international communication using self-media videos. They curated a selection of representative videos and documentaries showcasing China’s modernization and development, disseminating them to global netizens via social media platforms. Data analysis revealed that foreign netizens appreciated the intuitive, succinct, and lucid nature of the short self-media videos. They felt they gained an intuitive understanding of China’s modernization and expressed interest in visiting China to learn the Chinese language and witness the country’s rapid development firsthand, recognizing its potential to enhance their career prospects. The self-media communication experiment yielded favorable outcomes, notably enhancing college students’ English writing proficiency through online interactions with netizens and fostering stronger cross-cultural communication skills. Abstract:The effects of short movies on social media platforms are gaining worldwide popularity and are now attracting global academic attention. Employing self-perception theory and qualitative research methodology, the study examines the influence of short video applications (TikTok) on app-user engagement and evaluates the self-perceived cognitive psychological understanding of Chinese university students. The findings show that identity, attitude change, emotional perception, and civic engagement are the most influential aspects of Chinese youths' self-perceptions. Furthermore, the positive and negative correlated components influence the distribution of short video values. Such tactical use of personality construction contributes to the present psychological research of Chinese university students.

Abstract:With the widespread popularity of social media, the culture of internet celebrities has significantly impacted adolescents. This study explores the psychological effects of "luxurious" lifestyle content shared by influencers on Xiaohongshu (Red) on adolescents in small towns in China. Employing both quantitative and qualitative research methods, we investigated how the portrayal of influencer content on Xiaohongshu shapes the values and life expectations of minors. The findings reveal significant differences in values, life satisfaction, and mental health among adolescents who frequently engage with such content. These insights offer a new perspective on the impact of social media content on youth psychological development and provide recommendations for parents, educators, and policymakers on guiding adolescent use of social media more effectively.

Abstract:A salient determinant of effective interpersonal communication resides in the cultivation of a positive personal image. The intricate interplay between self-image, individual behaviors, and communication abilities highlights the far-reaching influence of personal perception on social interactions. In the contemporary landscape of Chinese television series, exemplified by the production ‘Nothing but Thirty’, a deliberate effort is made to depict characters that embody the evolving roles of women in modern society. Drawing from relevant literature, this study conducts a comprehensive analysis of characters’ image in ‘Nothing but Thirty’, examining content such as appearance, language, non-verbal cues (body language), and varied scene settings. Adopting a rigorous qualitative case study methodology and leveraging content analysis grounded in the coordinated management of meaning theory and social exchange theory, the research aims to dissect the nuanced dynamics of interpersonal communication as portrayed in the series. The findings illuminate that the dynamic characterizations in contemporary Chinese TV series function as reflective mirrors, capturing the intricate layers of modern interpersonal communication and societal intricacies. This narrative analysis extends beyond the purview of conventional storytelling, offering a scholarly exploration of the intricate fabric of human interaction.

Abstract:This paper applies empirical study methods to examine stereotype of nation and its potential impact factors among undergraduate students in Shanghai based on data analysis on the survey Undergraduate students’ image and memory of China in Shanghai conducted by Fudan University's Precision Journalism Study Group.Results indicate a multitude of subjects holding positive attitudes toward their nation whether in individual level or group level.A significant statistic relationship is found between the formation of individual level stereotype and factors such as gender,frequency of TV watching,time duration of radio listening,using of business news and social contact,in which,media usage imposes a positive effect on individual level stereotype formation,while social contact has a negative effect.Future study should analyze the relationship between individual cognition and social interaction to better understand dynamics of stereotype of nation.

Abstract:This study explores the impact of narrative persuasion in films on persuasive effectiveness, using a survey to investigate the narrative persuasion effects of the Chinese sci-fi film The Wandering Earth. The research found that the film's complex narrative structure and rich character development effectively enhance emotional resonance, making it easier for audiences to immerse themselves in the film's plot, thereby improving persuasive effectiveness. Compared to Chinese audiences, foreign audiences showed more positive story liking and character identification, and lower levels of perceived persuasive intent and persuasion resistance. This indicates different effects of the film on international audiences. This study summarizes the successful experience of The Wandering Earth in international communication, providing theoretical and practical references for understanding how films can achieve better persuasive effects in the context of globalization.

Abstract:Background: In the contemporary academic milieu, an array of erudite investigations has meticulously delved into the ramifications of social media paradigms on the nuances of modern societal interactions. Predominantly, these scholarly endeavors have harnessed quantitative methodologies to discern both the advantageous and detrimental implications of social media. Notwithstanding these extensive analyses, there appears to be a conspicuous lacuna in the literature about the subjective repercussions of social media on the well-being and contentment of tertiary education students. In light of this gap, the present qualitative exploration seeks to elucidate the perceptions of Chinese collegiate individuals vis-à-vis the influence of social media platforms on their experiential happiness. Method: Guided by interpretative phenomenological analysis (Jonathan et al., 2022) [1], we conducted 3 semi-structured interviews with 5 university students. Result: Using an interpretive phenomenology analysis approach four themes. They are (1) The Paradox of Temperance and Indulgence, (2) Identity Construction and Presentation, (3) Social Support and Connection, and (4) Social Comparison and Self-Evaluation. Discussion: Findings suggest that the individual well-being of college students may be affected by ambivalence between moderate and indulgent use of social media, social media interactions to maintain and enhance personal identity, and comparisons between individuals and certain online groups. Therefore, the government, higher education institutions, and college students should work together to build a safe and happy university life.

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of movies and TV dramas on Chinese tourists' choice of international travel destinations. An online survey instrument was developed and distributed to Chinese consumers through an online survey panel company. Findings indicated many Chinese are highly involved with international travel and were ardent about movies and/or TV dramas. There was a high level of agreement that these media outlets have a significant impact on travel motivations. Foods, fashion, and other elements featured in movies and TV dramas were motivators for the Chinese market. Thailand and Korea were the two top favorite destinations based upon movie and TV drama consumption. Implications for the tourism industry and the movie and TV drama industries are discussed.

Abstract:In most movies, the "imaginary audience" is already hidden in the structure at the beginning of the creation, and the acceptance of the audience means the finalization of the movie art. The overall purpose of this paper is to explore the audience's acceptance of the cross-cultural movie Everything Everywhere All at Once based on cultural adaptation theory and communication adaptation theory. We have to cautiously reflect on whether the ecology of the movie market is undergoing restructuring nowadays, and whether the audience's receptive psychology is changing. Is there a change in the audience's receptive psychology? How can social, psychological, and cultural issues be properly internalized into the core expression of a film? This study collects more than 200,000 words of textual materials from mainstream media channels such as Douban.com, B-station, and Time.com for qualitative research, and utilizes the rooted theory approach to explore the psychological behavioral mechanism of audience's acceptance of cross-cultural films represented by Everything Everywhere All at Once and to construct a theoretical model of the psychology of acceptance in a cross-cultural context. It is found that cultural adaptation and communication adaptation theories have once again emphasized their complex structure and new discourse field in the new cross-cultural movie reception situation. This study expands the applicability of these two theories in the new socio-cultural context of China.

Abstract:Introduction: Storytelling ad is presented from one or more narrative perspectives. Narrative perspective, which can alter the way in which the plot is physiologically or psychologically perceived, can significantly affect consumer experience. Methods: This study conducts three experiments with 526 participants to analyze the influencing mechanism of narrative perspective (first- versus third-person) on consumers' brand attitudes in storytelling ads of products with different involvement (high versus low). Results: (a) Narrative perspective (first- versus third-person) exerts persuasive effects on consumer brand attitudes; (b) Processes of social presence and self-brand connection explain the effects of narrative perspective on brand attitudes; (c) When product involvement is high, the use of the first-person narrative perspective in storytelling ads will result in a more positive brand attitude than the use of third-person narrative will; With lower product involvement, there is no significant difference in the impact on brand attitudes regardless of narrative perspective (first-person versus third-person). Discussion: This research finds that different narrative perspectives significantly impact the persuasiveness of advertising. Boundary conditions exist for the effect of narrative persuasion, and product involvement moderates the effect of narrative perspective on brand attitudes.

Abstract:Gender equality education is an important aspect of promoting a fair society. The impact of gender equality education on the moral framework of Chinese family-themed movies in the twenty-first century is investigated in this study. Films can be used to question conventional ideas about gender roles and gender stereotypes. They are a strong medium for promoting principles and messages of gender equality. The moral implications of movies can reveal whether or not the Chinese people support the idea of gender equality. The study uses a quantitative methodology, examining several Chinese family-themed movies and gathering information from media sources. Over three days, information from 200 respondents was gathered from media persons using a convenience sampling technique. Smart PLS 3 statistical software was used to evaluate the data (SEM). The results point to a strong influence of gender equality education on how gender roles and family relationships are portrayed in Chinese cinema, with a discernible movement towards more diverse and egalitarian portrayals. Nonetheless, the ethical framework of Chinese family-themed movies is also still being shaped by the influence of conventional cultural values and business considerations. To encourage more inclusive and empowering representations of gender and family in Chinese cinema, the study's conclusion highlights the possibility of gender equality education.
Research on the Influence Mechanism of New Mainstream Films on the Cultural Identity of College Students in Western Universities

Abstract:The role of new mainstream films in the dissemination of mainstream values has become more and more prominent in the context of new media, and college students, as one of the audiences of new mainstream films, also play an important role as the disseminators of mainstream culture. Using the grounded theory as a guide, 20 students from a university in the western region were selected as samples, and semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted. Nvivo12 Plus software was used to sort out and integrate the interview data, to refine the relevant concepts and categories, and to construct a model of the influence mechanism of new mainstream films on the cultural identities of students in western universities. The study finds that the evolution of new mainstream films on the cultural identity of college students in western universities can be divided into four stages: In terms of film dissemination: technological empowerment, promoting cultural waves; In terms of plot setting: rooted in reality, shaping positive cognition; In terms of cultural expression: subtle influence, enhance character cultivation; In terms of far-reaching impact: innovative expression, planting the seeds of culture. Grasping the internal logic of the mechanism is not only conducive to the dissemination of the mainstream value kernel of the film, but also to the cultivation of the socialist core values of young college students as well as the deeper cultural identity of the country.

Abstract:Films are the source of spreading the messages, attributes to the exchanging the ideas in a different way, and making the impact on our behavior, attitude and moral conduct. In the 21st century, people are surrounded by technology. Everyone is being smart day by day to access to any source. We can hardly find anyone who didn’t watch movies or films. In Bangladesh, people watches mostly Bengali, Indian, Tamilian, English, and nowadays Korean, Chinese movies and films. And today we can access to any foreign films through YouTube, Google, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, etc. Teenagers and youths of our country are mostly getting influenced by English, Korean, Chinese, Tamilian, and also somewhat Iranian films and movies. In my personal observation, I can see the hot market of unrealistic but probable situational films among the audiences of foreign films. The area of our inquiry and interest field is about: the effect of foreign films on the first year students of undergraduate level, more specifically at Department of English in ‘University of Science and Technology Chittagong’. This area of study especially about the behavioral and moral impact on the students made us curious for the further investigation. Fascinating part, students’ opinions, ideas and experiences regarding the foreign films are given importance in order to get a clear idea of the effect of foreign films in changing the moral conduct. Moreover, the area of study is comparatively new from the perspective of Bangladeshi tertiary level study and the scope of further research will certainly be necessary and appreciable.

Abstract:Despite the acknowledged benefits of digital storytelling in fostering language development, investigations into its cognitive and affective dimensions in English-as-a-Foreign-Language (EFL) education, especially concerning high and low achievers, have been scarce. This study, therefore, aimed to scrutinize the effects of multimodal digital storytelling presentations on storytelling outcomes and emotional responses of high and low achievers within an EFL context. The study enlisted 52 sophomore students from a private university in central Taiwan. Over a 14-week research period, participants were tasked with creating two digital storytelling presentations: the first employing PowerPoint and the second utilizing Book Creator. Data collection encompassed two questionnaires gauging positive/negative affective states and enjoyment in digital storytelling, along with reflective journals. The results underscored the superiority of Book Creator over PowerPoint in enhancing digital storytelling presentation quality. High-achieving students reported heightened positive affective experiences and a greater sense of enjoyment compared to their low-achieving peers. However, both groups exhibited comparable levels of negative affect, suggesting the existence of anxiety despite the presence of positive emotions during the learning process. This study contributes by emphasizing the equitable significance of cognitive and affective facets within technological multimodality, thereby illuminating the multifaceted essence of EFL learning.

Abstract:This paper delves into the profound impact of social media on the cultural dynamics of Chinese university students, with a particular emphasis on how these digital landscapes mediate the integration, adaptation, and at times, resistance to Western cultural elements. As digital platforms become increasingly central to daily life, they not only serve as conduits for global cultural exchange but also as arenas where cultural identities are negotiated and redefined. By conducting a comprehensive analysis of popular social media platforms among Chinese youth, such as Weibo, WeChat, and Douyin, this study uncovers the complex interplay between global cultural flows and local traditions. It examines how these interactions influence the formation of identity, the evolution of values, and the adoption of social practices among the youth in China. The investigation reveals that while social media facilitates the exposure to and engagement with Western culture, Chinese university students approach these encounters with a critical eye, selectively adopting elements that resonate with their personal and cultural identity while resisting those that conflict with traditional values. This selective engagement highlights a dynamic process of cultural hybridization, where Western influences are not merely absorbed passively but are actively interpreted, modified, and integrated into the fabric of Chinese youth culture. The findings underscore the role of social media as a significant force in shaping contemporary cultural landscapes, offering insights into the broader implications of digital technology on cultural globalization and identity formation in the context of China’s rapidly changing society.

Abstract:Pseudo-environment theory of Lippmann, Two-step flow of communication of Paul Lazarsfeld, social Cognitive theory of Mead and Hovland all indicate that personal experience and interpersonal communication have influence on personal perception. Based on analyzing of 495 survey samples of foreign youth which came from 53 countries in China, this paper show that those who have more Chinese friends and spend more time interacting with them tend to give higher evaluation on China's image, and those who have higher evaluation on mix-marriage with Chinese and Chinese rural areas, have better perception of China. The geographical scope in China that foreign youth has no significant effect on foreign youth's perception of China.

Abstract:The aim of the research is to examine the social media activities of film promoters and the factors that have an impact on public decision-making and to watch film in the cinema. This research looked at film audiences in Thailand to evaluate public perception, social media tracking and knowledge-based activity that has not yet been established in previous studies. Few studies have investigated the variables such as promotional programs, social media platform activities, trailer assessment, and decision to watch a movie. This study's audience consisted of Thai citizens who are a sample of 400 subjects. This group has been identified as the group that watched the film in Thailand. The statistical tool used is ANOVA, which is concerned only with the disparity of results used in the comparative analysis. The strongest statistical relationship for the trailer assessment has been identified. Indication of the essential distinction between advertising, social media interactions and trailer assessment. References to social media will motivate the audience to feel that they are enjoying the recommended films. Social awareness is also related to the determination of the reference value for video screening. The findings of this study show that social networks affect audiences to watch movies. Overall, different factors need to work together to inspire audiences to watch movies. In order to make people watch films more frequently in cinemas, it is important to explore other strategies for market demand.

Abstract:Intro: The aim of the work is to prove the effectiveness of the recommendations developed by the authors for introducing the basics of storytelling into the educational process in the context of the development of sophisticated social skills. Methods: A survey method was used to determine students' knowledge of storytelling. Previously 52% of students used the storytelling techniques only partly in classes, and 30% of students are not familiar with the storytelling features and have not previously used them. Results: The survey revealed students' insufficient knowledge about storytelling. Comparison of students' skills before and after the experiment showed that the developed recommendations have an impact on learning effectiveness. Such findings are attributed to the fact that after the experiment 89% of students had high scores (90-98 points), while before the experiment only 15% of students possessed such skills, with their scores ranging from 82 to 90 points. Conclusion: Research findings may be used to develop creative texts that, among other things, drive sophisticated social skills. Practical significance. The research findings may be used by future and present scientific journalists, television journalists and presenters seeking to improve their professional and creative skills which would help them to stay competitive in the media industry.
