Abstract:This study investigates the crystal structure, epitaxial relation, and magnetic properties in CoFe thin films deposited on a flexible mica substrate. The epitaxial growth of CoFe thin films was successfully achieved by DC magnetron sputtering, forming three CoFe(002) domains exhibiting four-fold symmetry on the mica substrate. A notable achievement of this work was the attainment of the highest anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) value reported to date on a flexible substrate. Additionally, it was observed that the magnetic characteristics of the CoFe films on the flexible mica substrate display reversibility upon strain release. More importantly, the AMR effect of epitaxial CoFe films on flexible mica shows lesser dependence on the crystalline orientation and remains the same under different bending states. These findings demonstrate the potential of utilizing CoFe films on flexible substrates to develop wearable magnetoresistance sensors with diverse applications.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
### Problems Addressed by the Paper This paper primarily explores the microstructure, magnetism, and anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) effect of CoFe films grown on flexible mica substrates. Specifically: 1. **Research Background**: - With the development of electronic devices and health monitoring systems, the demand for flexible sensors is increasing. Flexible sensors can achieve good contact with curved surfaces or the human body, facilitating miniaturization and integration. - Flexible electronic devices have potential application value in wearable devices, piezoelectric sensors, etc., due to their high sensitivity and deformation stability. 2. **Material Selection**: - Mica, as a ceramic mineral, is an ideal material for flexible substrates due to its high melting point, excellent transparency, flexibility, and outstanding chemical stability. Its layered structure allows for the growth of epitaxial films, and due to the relatively weak van der Waals forces, it does not significantly distort the lattice of the epitaxial film. 3. **Research Focus**: - This paper studies the crystal structure, epitaxial relationship, and magnetism of CoFe films successfully grown on mica substrates using DC magnetron sputtering technology. - It achieved the highest reported anisotropic magnetoresistance value on flexible substrates to date and observed that the magnetic properties of CoFe films exhibit reversibility after strain release. - More importantly, the AMR effect of CoFe films epitaxially grown on flexible mica substrates shows little dependence on the epitaxial growth direction and remains unchanged under different bending states. 4. **Experimental Results**: - The magnetism and AMR effect of CoFe films were measured under different strain conditions, and it was found that the AMR effect was not significantly affected under 0.5% strain, showing good reversibility. - The correlation between magnetic changes and the AMR effect was verified through angle-dependent resistance measurements, demonstrating the stability and application potential of CoFe films on flexible substrates. In summary, this paper aims to explore the microstructure, magnetism, and AMR effect of CoFe films on flexible mica substrates and verify their application potential in flexible sensors.
