Abstract:The main goals of sustainable development in the modern period are environmental pollution reduction and recycling. The purpose of this study is to look at how waste material, specifically horse hair as fiber, affects physical and mechanical qualities. Horse hair as fiber along with Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) polyester composite's tensile, flexural, impact and hardness were examined to see if it might be used as a new material in different engineering applications for extended life. Horse hair fiber with is added to the polyester and titanium dioxide as infill in various ratios to increase the composite's impact resistance. Utilizing the Universal Testing Machine, the Rockwell Hardness Testing Machine, and the Izod Impact Test, the mechanical characteristics, including tensile, flexural, and impact, were evaluated. Using different weight ratios of fiber, specimens were manually laid up. The results of this study showed that, in comparison to the neat and other specimens, the specimen with a greater percentage of horse hair fiber confirmed improved mechanical and physical properties. The cracked surface was further examined using Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to look for nanoparticle dispersion and failure mechanisms. The homogeneous dispersion of the nanoparticles was confirmed by SEM micrographs. Findings imply that these composites can be employed as a material for numerous purposes, including biological claims that they are a workable, long-lasting, and environmentally beneficial option.
