Abstract:CONTEXT: Thulium fiber laser (TFL) emerged as a competitor of holmium:yttrium aluminum garnet (Ho:YAG) laser for the treatment of urinary stones.OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy between Ho:YAG and TFL for laser lithotripsy of renal and ureteral stones.EVIDENCE ACQUISITION: A literature search was conducted using PubMed/Medline, Embase, and Web of Science databases to identify reports published until May 2023. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses guidelines were followed to identify eligible studies. The primary outcome was to compare the stone-free rate (SFR) between Ho:YAG and TFL for laser lithotripsy.EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS: Eleven studies met our inclusion criteria, and data from 1286 and 880 patients who underwent, respectively, Ho:YAG and TFL laser lithotripsy were reviewed. Most studies included ureteroscopy (URS) and retrograde intrarenal surgeries as procedures, two included percutaneous nephrolithotomy, and one included URS exclusively. Only two studies reported results in pediatric patients. TFL was associated with a higher SFR (odds ratio [OR] 1.84, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.06-3.20; p = 0.031) when no residual fragment is considered, but not when SFR refers to the presence of fragments <3 mm (OR 2.48, 95% CI: 0.98-6.29; p = 0.055) or when only Ho:YAG with MOSES is considered (p = 0.068). According to the stones' location, TFL was associated with higher SFRs than Ho:YAG for renal (OR 3.14, 95% CI: 1.69-5.86; p < 0.001) but not for ureteral (p = 0.8) stones. TFL was associated with a lower intraoperative complication rate (OR 0.34, 95% CI: 0.19-0.63; p < 0.001). No difference was found in major (p = 0.4) or overall (p = 0.4) complication rate, operative time (p = 0.051), and laser time (p = 0.9).CONCLUSIONS: TFL is a promising laser for the treatment of urinary stones with some advantages over Ho:YAG. Further high-quality studies are needed to confirm these findings and optimize the surgical settings.PATIENT SUMMARY: The use of thulium fiber laser rather than holmium:yttrium aluminum garnet permits to reach a higher stone-free rate in stones located in the kidney rather than in the ureter.

A Comparative Study to Analyze the Efficacy and Safety of Flexible Ureteroscopy Combined with Holmium Laser Lithotripsy for Residual Calculi after Percutaneous Nephrolithotripsy

Abstract:A certain proportion of patients with initial Percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL) management require ancillary procedures to increase the stone-free rate. In this study, we aim to analyze the efficacy and safety of flexible ureteroscopy combined with holmium laser lithotripsy (F-UL) for treatment of residual calculi after PCNL by comparison with extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (SWL). Total of 96 patients with residual renal calculi (4 mm to 20 mm) after PCNL was enrolled from May 2010 to March 2013. They were randomly divided into two groups: US Group: patients were treated with F-UL; SWL Group: patients were treated with SWL. Follow-up was made one month and three months after treatment. The mean residual stone size after PCNL was 12.4 ± 4.3 mm in US group compared with 11.9 ± 4.5 in SWL group. The stone-free rate was 84.7% one month after surgical procedure in US group, this rate increased to 91.3% in the third months, while the stone-free rate in SWL group is 64.6% one month after treatment and 72.9% in the third month. For residual stone in lower calyx, the stone-free rate three month after treatment was 90.4% in US group compared to 65.2% in SWL group (P < 0.05). The overall complication rate was low in both groups, no severe complication was found. Both F-UL and SWL are safe and effective methods for residual calculi after PCNL, without severe complications. F-UL provided significantly higher stone-free rate compared with SWL, especially for low-pole calculi.

Abstract:Objective: To compare and assess the clinical outcomes between thulium fibre laser (TFL) and holmium: yttrium-aluminium-garnet (Ho:YAG) laser endoscopic lithotripsy of urolithiasis through a meta-analysis of comparative clinical studies. Methods: A systematic literature search was performed in May 2022, grey literature search in July 2022. Comparative clinical studies were evaluated according to Cochrane recommendations. Assessed outcomes include the stone-free rate (SFR), complication rate, operative time (OT), laser utilisation time (LUT), ablation rate (stone volume/laser time), ablation efficiency (energy use/stone volume), total energy usage, degree of retropulsion, and hospital stay. Risk ratios (RRs) and standardised mean differences (SMDs) were extrapolated. Subgroup analyses, heterogeneity, publication bias, and Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) assessment were performed. International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) registration: CRD42022300788. Results: A total of 15 studies with 1698 cases were included in this review. The outcome of SFR showed no significant between-group difference (RR 1.09, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.99-1.20). However, subgroup analysis of TFL vs Ho:YAG with no pulse modulation showed a SFR favouring TFL (RR 1.11, 95% CI 1.01-1.23). The composite postoperative complication rate was comparable between the two intervention groups (RR 0.97, 95% CI 0.66-1.43). OT, LUT and ablation rate were significantly better for TFL than Ho:YAG (SMD -1.19, 95% CI -1.85 to -0.52; SMD -1.67, 95% CI -2.62 to -0.72; SMD 0.59, 95% CI 0.15-1.03; respectively). The degree of retropulsion was significantly lower for TFL than Ho:YAG without pulse modulation (SMD -1.23, 95% CI -1.74 to -0.71). Ablation efficiency, total energy usage, and hospital stay were all comparable. Based on GRADE criteria, the evidence certainty was determined to be very low. Conclusion: Overall, there was no between-group difference for the SFR. However, compared to Ho:YAG with no pulse modulation, TFL rendered a better SFR. Shorter OT and LUT, a lesser degree of retropulsion, and a better ablation rate were noted in favour of the TFL. There was no overall between-group difference for composite postoperative complication rate, ablation efficiency, total energy usage, and hospital stay. Currently, the available clinical evidence was assessed to be of very low certainty.

Abstract:Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of thulium fiber laser (TFL) and holmium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Ho:YAG) laser for ureteric stone management with semi-rigid ureteroscopy. Methods: In a prospective study from January 2020 to December 2021, we compared 40 patients in each group who underwent semi-rigid ureteroscopic lithotripsy with TFL and that with Ho:YAG laser. Stone volume, stone density, stone fragmentation rates, total lasing time, total operative time, endoscopic vision, retropulsion and stone free rates were analyzed in both groups and compared. Results: Mean stone volume was comparable in the TFL group and the Ho:YAG laser group (282.45 [standard deviation, SD 139.79] mm3 vs. 279.49 [SD 312.52] mm3; p=0.964). Mean stone density was also comparable in the TFL group and the Ho:YAG laser group (1135.30 [SD 317.04] Hounsfield unit vs. 1131.75 [SD 283.03] Hounsfield unit; p=0.959). The mean stone fragmentation rates calculated as stone volume divided by lasing time were 25.85 (SD 10.61) mm3/min and 21.37 (SD 14.13) mm3/min in the TFL group and the Ho:YAG laser group, respectively (p=0.113). The mean total lasing time (10.15 [SD] 4.69 min vs. 11.43 [SD 4.56] min; p=0.222), mean operative time (25.13 [SD 9.51] min vs. 25.54 [SD 10.32] min; p=0.866), and mean total hospital stay (2.62 [SD 0.77] days vs. 2.61 [SD 0.84] days; p=0.893) were comparable in the TFL group and in the Ho:YAG group. The vision was better and retropulsion was less in the TFL group. The stone-free rate at 1 month postoperatively was slightly better in the TFL group (100% vs. 90%; p=0.095). Conclusion: TFL technology was associated with the comparable total surgical time, total lasing time, and stone fragmentation rate with Ho:YAG laser. However, TFL had better endoscopic vision, lesser stone retropulsion, and slightly better stone-free rates.

Abstract:Introduction: To investigate the thermal effect on the water by a novel thulium fiber laser (TFL) designed for lithotripsy and evaluate the safety of this laser for clinical use. Materials and Methods: An in vitro experimental setup was constructed. A test tube filled with saline was immersed in an electric water bath, and a TFL fiber and a thermal probe were inserted into it. Saline was irrigated into the tube and pumped out synchronously at the same speed by two pumps, respectively, to maintain convection when needed. Then, continuous TFL firing of different power settings was imposed to saline in the tube for 60 seconds, on the conditions of different irrigation rates. The temperature was recorded every 5 seconds during the whole trial, and each trial was repeated five times. Safety threshold of temperature increase (STTI) was determined comparing with the deemed safe temperature of 43 degrees C in vivo. Results: On condition of 0 mL/min irrigation rate, STTI was 6.5 degrees C, and water temperature increase (WTI) caused by >= 15 W settings surpassed STTI after 20 seconds of laser firing; on condition of 15 mL/min irrigation rate, only WTI caused by the highest 30 W power setting surpassed STTI after 45 seconds of laser firing. When irrigation rate was added up to 25 and 50 mL/min, WTIs caused by all power settings were below STTIs in a 60-second experiment. High frequency and low pulse energy combinations caused a slightly higher WTI compared with low frequency and high pulse energy, given a constant power and irrigation rate. Conclusion: Power setting and irrigation rate collaboratively play a critical role in WTI during TFL lithotripsy, and it is safe to use TFL referring to the thermal effect as long as there is moderate irrigation, while TFL power should be lowered enough when irrigation is ceased.

Abstract:PurposeTo compare the operating modes of the Holmium:YAG laser and Thulium fiber laser. Additionally, currently available literature on Thulium fiber laser lithotripsy is reviewed.Materials and methodsMedline, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science databases were searched for articles relating to the operating modes of Holmium:YAG and Thulium fiber lasers, including systematic review of articles on Thulium fiber laser lithotripsy.ResultsThe laser beam emerging from the Holmium:YAG laser involves fundamental architectural design constraints compared to the Thulium fiber laser. These differences translate into multiple potential advantages in favor of the Thulium fiber laser: four-fold higher absorption coefficient in water, smaller operating laser fibers (50–150 µm core diameter), lower energy per pulse (as low as 0.025 J), and higher maximal pulse repetition rate (up to 2000 Hz). Multiple comparative in vitro studies suggest a 1.5–4 times faster stone ablation rate in favor of the Thulium fiber laser.ConclusionsThe Thulium fiber laser overcomes the main limitations reported with the Holmium:YAG laser relating to lithotripsy, based on preliminary in vitro studies. This innovative laser technology seems particularly advantageous for ureteroscopy and may become an important milestone for kidney stone treatment.

Pulse-modulated Holmium:YAG Laser vs the Thulium Fiber Laser for Renal and Ureteral Stones: A Single-center Prospective Randomized Clinical Trial

Abstract:We sought to compare the clinical effectiveness of the pulse-modulated Ho:YAG (holmium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet) laser and the thulium laser fiber for ureteroscopic stone management in a randomized clinical trial. The primary outcome was the ureteroscope time required to adequately fragment stones to 1 mm or less. Secondary outcomes were stone-free rate, complications, subjective surgeon measurement of laser performance, patient related stone quality of life outcomes, and measurements of laser efficiency. An Institutional Review Board-approved randomized clinical trial was conducted to randomize patients to outpatient treatment with either the Moses 2.0 or thulium laser fiber in a 1:1 manner after stratification into groups based on the maximal diameter of treated stone (3-9.9 mm or 10-20 mm). Patient, stone, and operative parameters were compared using the appropriate categorical/continuous and parametric/nonparametric statistical tests (SPSS 25). From July 16, 2021 to March 11, 2022, 108 patients were randomized and had primary endpoint data available for analysis; 52 patients were randomized to Ho:YAG and 56 patients to thulium laser fiber. Groups were well balanced with no significant differences observed for patient or stone characteristics. Ureteroscope time was not significantly different between modalities (Ho:YAG mean 21.4 minutes vs thulium laser fiber mean 19.9 minutes, P = .60), or within subgroup analysis by stone size, median Hounsfield units, or stone location. There were no significant differences observed in the stone-free rate and complications rate between the 2 lasers. This randomized clinical trial suggests no significant clinical advantage of one laser technology over the other. Surgeon and institutional preference are the best approach when selecting one or the other.

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the ablation speed (AS), laser efficiency and direct thermal lesions during urinary stone lithotripsy with the current available laser technologies: Holmium:YAG (Ho:YAG), pulsed-Thulium:YAG (p-Tm:YAG) and thulium fiber laser (TFL) in vitro using different laser settings. Materials and Methods: Ho:YAG, p-Tm:YAG, and TFL laser system were used in an in vitro ureteral model with a volume of 125 mm3 Begostone. The following parameters were tested across all laser devices: 0.6J/10 Hz (6 W), 0.6 J/20 Hz (12 W), 1.5 J/10 Hz (15 W), and 1.5 J/20 Hz (30 W), employing short pulse width for all lasers and long pulse width for Ho:YAG and p-Tm:YAG. Ten participants conducted the experimental setup during 3-minutes laser on time, combining the laser technology, settings, and pulse widths, with a total of 20 different combinations. The efficiency, AS and ureteral damage resulting from each intervention were analyzed. Results: p-Tm:YAG and TFL demonstrated significantly higher efficiency compared with Ho:YAG (0.049 ± 0.02 Δgr/KJ and 0.042 ± 0.01 Δgr/KJ vs 0.029 ± 0.01 Δgr/KJ; p < 0.05). In all laser sources, as the power increases, the AS also increases (p < 0.05). Furthermore, only at high-energy settings (1.5 J) higher frequency led to increase AS (p < 0.05). Both, p-Tm:YAG and TFL exhibited higher AS compared to Ho:YAG (0.64 ± 0.33 Δgr/s and 0.62 ± 0.31 Δgr/s vs 0.44 ± 0.22 Δgr/s; p < 0.05). Regarding ureteral injuries, as the power increases, there is a higher chance of ureteral damage (p = 0.031). No differences were observed between laser technologies (p = 0.828). Conclusions: Both, p-Tm:YAG and TFL exhibited superior performances during laser lithotripsy compared with Ho:YAG, as they demonstrated higher efficiency and ablation speed. Thermal damage did not appear to be associated with specific laser equipment, but higher grades of lesions are described by increasing power.

Abstract:Aim: Experimental evaluation of the efficacy and safety of lithotripsy using a new pulsed thulium fiber laser operating at a wavelength of 1.94 microns, peak power of 500 watts (maximum average power of 50 watts) by comparing it with a holmium laser operating at a wavelength of 2.1 microns (average maximum power 100 W and 120 W). Relevance: The proportion of minimally invasive surgery in the management of urolithiasis, including retrograde intrarenal surgery, is steadily growing. The most appropriate tool for stone destruction is a laser. To date, the gold standard of minimally invasive surgical treatment of nephrolithiasis is holmium laser lithotripsy, which uses a laser on yttrium-aluminum-garnet activated by holmium ions (Ho: YAG) operating at a wavelength of 2.1 m. However, in recent years, lasers on a Tm-activated fiber with a wavelength of 1.94 m have become increasingly popular since the water absorption coefficient for the Tm radiation of a fiber laser is 5.5 times higher than for a Ho: YAG laser and in 2.2 times higher than for the Tm: YAG laser. This difference may translate into greater effectiveness and speed of stone crushing, which in turn leads to shorter operating time. Materials and methods: This article describes physical foundations of holmium and thulium laser radiation, the mechanisms of stone fragmentation, data from a series of experiments comparing the efficiency and safety of ex-vivo lithotripsy using a holmium solid-state laser with a wavelength of 2.1 m and a thulium fiber laser with a wavelength of 1.94 m. Results: The study findings suggest that the STA IRE-Polyus thulium fiber laser operating at a wavelength of 1.94 microns and a maximum power of 500 watts has several advantages over the holmium laser in the stone fragmentation in urological practice. Conclusion: The results of the experimental work allow us to conclude that the use of a thulium fiber laser operating at a wavelength of 1.94 m and a maximum peak power of 500 W enables highly effective and safe lithotripsy.

Abstract:OBJECTIVES: The experimental Thulium fiber laser (TFL) is currently being studied as a potential alternative to the gold standard Holmium:YAG laser for lithotripsy. Recent advances in both Holmium and TFL technology allow operation at similar laser parameters for direct comparison. The use of a "dusting" mode with low pulse energy (0.2-0.4 J) and high pulse rate (50-80 Hz) settings, is gaining popularity in lithotripsy due to the desire to produce smaller residual stone fragments during ablation, capable of being spontaneously passed through the urinary tract.METHODS: In this study, Holmium and TFL were directly compared for 'dusting' using three laser groups, G1: 0.2 J/50 Hz/10 W; G2: 0.2 J/80 Hz/16 W; and G3: 0.4 J/80 Hz/32 W. Holmium laser pulse durations ranged from 200 to 350 μs, while TFL pulse durations ranged from 500 to 1,000 μs, due to technical limitations for both laser systems. An experimental setup consisting of 1 × 1 cm cuvette with 1 mm sieve was used with continuous laser operation time limited to ≤5 minutes. Calcium oxalate monohydrate stone samples with a sample size of n = 5 were used for each group, with average initial stone mass ranging from 216 to 297 mg among groups.RESULTS: Holmium laser ablation rates were lower than for TFL at all three settings (G1: 0.3 ± 0.2 vs. 0.8 ± 0.2; G2: 0.6 ± 0.1 vs. 1.0 ± 0.4; G3: 0.7 ± 0.2 vs. 1.3 ± 0.9 mg/s). The TFL also produced a greater percentage by mass of stone dust (fragments <0.5 mm) than Holmium laser. For all three settings combined, one out of 15 (7%) stones treated with Holmium laser were completely fragmented in ≤5 minutes compared to nine out of 15 (60%) stones treated with TFL.CONCLUSIONS: These preliminary studies demonstrate that the TFL is a promising alternative laser for lithotripsy when operated in dusting mode, producing higher stone ablation rates and smaller stone fragments than the Holmium laser. Abstract:Medical device companies have introduced new TFL machines, including Soltive (Olympus, Japan), Fiber Dust (Quanta System, Italy), and TFLDrive (Coloplast, France). The primary objective of this study is to compare our initial clinical experiences with TFL using those devices. Through this historical comparison of Thulium Fiber Laser systems for stone lithotripsy, we aim to advance our understanding and approach toward achieving safe and effective TFL parameters.

Comparing outcomes of thulium fiber laser versus high-power Holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy in pediatric patients managed with RIRS for kidney stones. A multicenter retrospective study

Abstract:Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate thulium fiber laser (TFL) safety and efficacy compared to high-power (HP) Holmium:YAG laser in pediatric patients who have undergone retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) for kidney stones. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed data from pediatric patients who underwent RIRS for kidney stones between 2018 and 2020. Complications were assessed 4-6 weeks postoperatively. Stone-free (SF) was defined as the absence of visible fragments or as the presence of a single residual fragment ≤2 mm at 3 months postoperative imaging. Student's t-test for continuous variables, and χ2 and Fisher's Exact Test for categorical variables were used to compare outcomes between patients treated with HP Holmium:YAG (group 1) and TFL (group 2). Univariate (UVA) and multivariate (MVA) logistic regression analyses were performed to predict SF-associated factors. Results: Data from 126 pediatric patients were analyzed, 97 in group 1 and 29 in group 2. Preoperative characteristics were similar between cohorts. No major complication occurred in both groups. Group 2 had a shorter operative time (mean time 49.5 vs. 64.3 min, P=0.024). SF rate was 81.4% and 89.7% (P=0.45) and reintervention rate was 14.4% and 6.89% (P=0.046) in group 1 and 2, respectively. At UVA and MVA, the type of laser did not influence SF rate. However, prestenting and single stones were positively associated with SR rate. Conclusions: Both laser technologies are safe and effective and showed similar SF rates. TFL showed less operative time and lower re-intervention rate compared to HP Holmium:YAG. Further prospective studies are needed to corroborate our findings.

Abstract:As laser technology has advanced, high-power lasers have become increasingly common. The Holmium: yttrium–aluminum-garnet (Ho:YAG) laser has long been accepted as the standard for laser lithotripsy. The thulium fiber laser (TFL) has recently been established as a viable option. The aim of this study is to evaluate thermal dose and temperature for the Ho:YAG laser to the TFL at four different laser settings while varying energy, frequency, operator duty cycle (ODC). Utilizing high-fidelity, 3D-printed hydrogel models of a pelvicalyceal collecting system (PCS) with a synthetic BegoStone implanted in the renal pelvis, laser lithotripsy was performed with the Ho:YAG laser or TFL. At a standard power (40W) and irrigation (17.9 ml/min), we evaluated four different laser settings with ODC variations with different time-on intervals. Temperature was measured at two separate locations. In general, the TFL yielded greater cumulative thermal doses than the Ho:YAG laser. Thermal dose and temperature were typically greater at the stone when compared away from the stone . Regarding the TFL, there was no general trend if fragmentation or dusting settings yielded greater thermal doses or temperatures. The TFL generated greater temperatures and thermal doses in general than the Ho:YAG laser with Moses technology. Temperatures and thermal doses were greater closer to the laser fiber tip. It is inconclusive as to whether fragmentation or dusting settings elicit greater thermal loads for the TFL. Energy, frequency, ODC, and laser-on time significantly impact thermal loads during ureteroscopic laser lithotripsy, independent of power.

Abstract:This study aims to identify optimal parameters for using Thulium fiber lasers (TFL) in ureteral stone lithotripsy to ensure laser safety and maximize efficacy. Our goal is to improve the outcomes of single-use semi-rigid ureteroscopy for treating stones located in the proximal ureter. A clinically relevant thermal testing device was designed to investigate heating effects during TFL stone fragmentation. The device was utilized to identify safe power thresholds for TFL at various irrigation rates. Three other devices were used to assess varying pulse energy effects on stone fragmentation efficiency, dusting, retropulsion, and depth of tissue vaporization. Comparative experiments in fresh porcine renal units were performed to validate the efficacy and safety of optimal TFL parameters for semi-rigid ureteroscopy in proximal ureteral stone procedures. Our study found that the improved device generated a higher thermal effect. Furthermore, the safe power threshold for laser lithotripsy increased as the irrigation rate was raised. At an irrigation rate of 40 ml/min, it is safe to use an average power of less than 30 watts. Although increasing pulse energy has a progressively lower effect on fragmentation and dust removal efficiency, it did lead to a linear increase in stone displacement and tissue vaporization depth. Thermal testing showed 20 W (53.87 ± 2.67 °C) indicating potential urothelial damage. In our study of laser lithotripsy for proximal ureteral stones, the group treated with 0.3 J pulses had several advantages compared to the 0.8 J group: Fewer large fragments (> 4 mm): 0 vs. 1.67 fragments (1-2.25), p = 0.002, a lower number of collateral tissue injuries: 0.50 (0-1.25) vs. 2.67 (2–4), p = 0.011, and lower stone retropulsion grading: 0.83 (0.75-1) vs. 1.67 (1–2), p = 0.046. There was no significant difference in operating time between the groups (443.33 ± 78.30 s vs. 463.17 ± 75.15 s, p = 0.664). These findings suggest that TFL irradiation generates a greater thermal effect compared to non-irradiated stones. Furthermore, the thermal effect during laser lithotripsy is influenced by both power and irrigation flow rate. Our study suggests that using a power below 15 W with an irrigation flow rate of 20 ml/min is safe. Moreover, a pulse energy of 0.3 J appears to be optimal for achieving the best overall stone fragmentation effect.

A meta-analysis and systematic review of holmium laser treatment of bladder stones

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Holmium lasers have been used to treat bladder stones and achieve good therapeutic effects, but its efficacy remains to be explored.METHODS: The PubMed, Embase, Medline, Ovid, Springer, and Web of Sciences databases were searched from their establishment to December 31, 2020. Studies of randomized control trials (RCTs) examining the treatment of vesical calculi by holmium laser lithotripsy were identified. The Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Intervention 5.0.2 was used to assess risk bias, and Rev Man5.3 was used to conduct the meta-analysis.RESULTS: A total of 10 studies, comprising 1,642 subjects, were included. The meta-analysis results showed that the surgery time and the hospitalization time of patients treated with holmium laser lithotripsy decreased, and the calculus removal rate increased. The experimental group had a lower incidence of adverse reactions, such as postoperative urinary tract infection, mucosal damage, vesical perforation, residual calculi, hematuria, and abdominal pain than the control group; however, no notable difference was observed in relation to surgery time, hospital stay, the calculus removal rate, mucosal damage, bladder perforation, hematuria, and abdominal pain between the 2 groups.DISCUSSION: Holmium laser lithotripsy significantly reduced the hospitalization time of patients treated with holmium laser lithotripsy and elevated the removal rate.
