An Integrated Method of 3D Garment Design

Abstract:We present an intuitive method that seamlessly integrates the whole process of garment design including 3D modeling, pattern development, garment simulation, and grading. Firstly, a sketch-based modeling method is proposed to design a 3D garment using editable control curves. Secondly, 2D patterns are developed by flattening 3D surface patches, then a 3D fine garment is formed directly based on the information of sewing relations and correspondence between 3D surfaces and 2D patterns. Lastly, garment templates are introduced to realize automatic design-preserving transfer of garments between human bodies with different sizes and shapes. The method is able to design 3D garments and 2D patterns efficiently and accurately. Our study provides an easy-to-learn and easy-to-use tool for both fashion designers and computer artists.

Abstract:The elements of traditional clothing must take fashion as its carrier to transfer the value because fashion is the main factor that makes Chinese traditional culture enjoyed by other ethnic groups. Chinese Traditional Clothing Arts has its profound cultural background and broad space for re-creation which is inexhaustible inspiration sources for designers. However, due to a late start, there is still a large gap between the design and theoretical research of Chinese-style clothing and other designs with strong American and Japanese colors in the market. This paper takes the Chinese traditional elements used by fashion designers at home and abroad as the breakthrough point. Through in-depth study of Chinese Traditional Clothing Arts and its cultural connotation, it explores the integration between traditional Chinese elements and fashion design and also puts forward some distinctive ideas about Chinese clothing fashion design.

Abstract:Compared with the traditional artificial clothing design mode, the structure design of national clothing with digital technology as the core has unique economic and technological advantages. Especially in the era of artificial intelligence, the application of AI and virtual reality technology in the fashion design industry has accelerated the pace of digital transformation of the design system. A large number of technical software such as digital clothing and AI fitting have emerged in the market, and the fashion industry has truly realized leapfrog development with the help of networking and intelligent technology. Therefore, on the basis of understanding the research status of national costume structure design in the new era, according to the application characteristics and unique advantages of CLO3D technology, this paper mainly studies how to use CLO3D software technology to realize the design of national costume structure. The final result shows that the content presented by this design scheme is more clear and intuitive, and the later modification is more convenient, which can effectively reduce the cost.

Abstract:Clothing CAD technology is a bridge that combines clothing design and high technology, and is one of the important fields of computer science and technology in the art kingdom. The style-based intelligent clothing style structure design system studied in this paper is mainly for users or design lovers who are not major in clothing design, so that they can realize the intelligent design of a certain style and style series in the friendly human-computer interaction, thereby replacing the Traditional designer hand creation process. This paper presents the system architecture, designs and completes the interactive interface, analyzes and implements the automatic splicing and adjustment functions of style components provided by the system, and explores and implements style-based style retrieval. Through the overall analysis of the intelligent clothing style structure design system, this paper develops a very good clothing design interface with VC. The author innovatively proposes the idea of "primitive structure" and "function simulation", and realizes the process of using computer to draw clothing accessories, so that the generated accessories can be accurately fitted along the given curve during clothing design, and provides the interface parameters make clothing accessories adjustable and controllable, which better realizes intelligence and facilitates the use of the client.

Abstract:The apparel DFMC method based on the design repository could be summarized into two aspects: the style configuration design aimed for basic outside looking and structure, and the variant design aimed for apparel size. The framework of the apparel design repository was proposed,and a structural model of the repository was built. The specific processes and approaches of configuration design and variant design were introduced. The style configuration design was based on the apparel product family structure model. It was a process of structure model instantiation according to customers' demand and configuration rules. The variant design performed the transforming of apparel patterns based on the rule base.

Abstract:The design of geometric form is widely used in daily life, such as Product Design, Communication Design and Digital Animation. In fact, it is an indispensable element of artistic creation. However, there is still a large possibility to explore for clothing design. This study discusses the relationship between the features of geometric form and clothing patterns. Through the works of fashion designers analyse the techniques used and the possibility of development. In order to break the traditional concepts of pattern making and to dismantle the patterns, the geometric form was used as the basic structure to create a three-dimensional silhouette. As a result, the clothing would produce visual effects with the movement of body. The overall design process and creative outcomes contribute researchers different design thinking for further study and development.
