Abstract:The left and right homological integrals are introduced for a large class of infinite dimensional Hopf algebras. Using the homological integrals we prove a version of Maschke's theorem for infinite dimensional Hopf algebras. The generalization of Maschke's theorem and homological integrals are the keys to study noetherian regular Hopf algebras of Gelfand-Kirillov dimension one.

Abstract:The spectral method for building first integrals of ordinary linear differential systems is elaborated. Using this method, we obtain bases of first integrals for linear differential systems with constant coefficients, for linear nonautonomous differential systems integrable in closed form (algebraic reducible systems, triangular systems, the Lappo-Danilevskii systems), and for reducible ordinary differential systems with respect to various transformation groups.

Abstract:We introduce a method for analyzing the complexity of natural language processing tasks, and for predicting the difficulty new NLP tasks. Our complexity measures are derived from the Kolmogorov complexity of a class of automata --- {\it meaning automata}, whose purpose is to extract relevant pieces of information from sentences. Natural language semantics is defined only relative to the set of questions an automaton can answer. The paper shows examples of complexity estimates for various NLP programs and tasks, and some recipes for complexity management. It positions natural language processing as a subdomain of software engineering, and lays down its formal foundation.

Abstract:In this paper we construct nonlinear partial differential equations in more than 3 independent variables, possessing a manifold of analytic solutions with high, but not full, dimensionality. For this reason we call them ``partially integrable''. Such a construction is achieved using a suitable modification of the classical dressing scheme, consisting in assuming that the kernel of the basic integral operator of the dressing formalism be nontrivial. This new hypothesis leads to the construction of: 1) a linear system of compatible spectral problems for the solution $U(\lambda;x)$ of the integral equation in 3 independent variables each (while the usual dressing method generates spectral problems in 1 or 2 dimensions); 2) a system of nonlinear partial differential equations in $n$ dimensions ($n>3$), possessing a manifold of analytic solutions of dimension ($n-2$), which includes one largely arbitrary relation among the fields. These nonlinear equations can also contain an arbitrary forcing.

Abstract:As has been seen, integral and differential systems in function spaces are ideal mathematical models in many applied problems stemmed from the real world. They have in recent years beenmajor objects of investigations with fast increasing interest.This special issue is dedicated to the dissemination of current significant progresses and new trends in this field. Abstract:This monograph, written for educational purposes, serves as an introduction to the concept of integrability as it applies to systems of differential equations (both ordinary and partial) as well as to vector-valued fields. The general cases of integrability examined are: path-independence of line integrals of vector fields on the plane and in space; integration of systems of ordinary differential equations by using first integrals; and integrable systems of partial differential equations. Special topics include the integration of analytic functions on the complex plane and some elements from the geometric theory of differential systems. Certain more advanced subjects, such as Lax pairs and Bäcklund transformations, are also discussed.

Abstract:In this note we discuss the approach which was given by Wazwaz for the proof of the complete integrability to the system of nonlinear differential equations. Integrability conditions for Boussinesq type systems

Abstract:The symmetry approach to the classification of evolution integrable partial differential equations (see, for example \cite{MikShaSok91}) produces an infinite series of functions, defined in terms of the right hand side, that are conserved densities of any equation having infinitely many infinitesimal symmetries. For instance, the function $\frac{\partial f}{\partial u_{x}}$ has to be a conserved density of any integrable equation of the KdV type $u_t=u_{xxx}+f(u,u_x)$. This fact imposes very strong conditions on the form of the function $f$. In this paper we construct similar canonical densities for equations of the Boussinesq type. In order to do that, we write the equations as evolution systems and generalise the formal diagonalisation procedure proposed in \cite{MSY} to these systems.

Abstract:We consider a problem of equivalence of generic pairs $(X,V)$ on a manifold $M$, where $V$ is a distribution of rank $m$ and $X$ is a distribution of rank one. We construct a canonical bundle with a canonical frame. We prove that two pairs are equivalent if and only if the corresponding frames are diffeomorphic. As a particular case, with $V$ integrable, we provide a new solution to the problem of contact equivalence of systems of $m$ ordinary differential equations: $x^{(k+1)}=F(t,x,x',...,x^{(k)})$, where $k>2$ or $k=2$ and $m>1$.

Abstract:Some of the most important classes of surfaces in projective 3-space are reviewed: these are isothermally asymptotic surfaces, projectively applicable surfaces, surfaces of Jonas, projectively minimal surfaces, etc. It is demonstrated that the corresponding projective "Gauss-Codazzi" equations reduce to integrable systems which are quite familiar from the modern soliton theory and coincide with the stationary flows in the Davey-Stewartson and Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchies, equations of the Toda lattice, etc. The corresponding Lax pairs can be obtained by inserting a spectral parameter in the equations of the Wilczynski moving frame.

Finite-dimensional reductions and finite-gap type solutions of multicomponent integrable PDEs

Abstract:The main object of the paper is a recently discovered family of multicomponent integrable systems of partial differential equations, whose particular cases include many well-known equations such as the Korteweg--de Vries, coupled KdV, Harry Dym, coupled Harry Dym, Camassa--Holm, multicomponent Camassa--Holm, Dullin--Gottwald--Holm, and Kaup--Boussinesq equations. We suggest a methodology for constructing a series of solutions for all systems in the family. The crux of the approach lies in reducing this system to a dispersionless integrable system which is a special case of linearly degenerate quasilinear systems actively explored since the 1990s and recently studied in the framework of Nijenhuis geometry. These infinite-dimensional integrable systems are closely connected to certain explicit finite-dimensional integrable systems. We provide a link between solutions of our multicomponent PDE systems and solutions of this finite-dimensional system, and use it to construct animations of multi-component analogous of soliton and cnoidal solutions.

On Differential Systems in Sobolev spaces with Generic Inhomogeneous Boundary Conditions

Abstract:We study linear systems of ordinary differential equations of an arbitrary order on a finite interval with the most general (generic) inhomogeneous boundary conditions in Sobolev spaces. We investigate the character of solvability of inhomogeneous boundary-value problems, prove their Fredholm properties, and find the indices, the dimensions of the kernel, and the cokernel of these problems. Moreover, we obtained necessary and sufficient conditions for continuity in a parameter of solutions to the introduced problems in Sobolev spaces.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a new infinite-dimensional linking theorem without (PS)-type assumptions. The new theorem needs a weaker linking geometry and produces bounded (PS) sequences. The abstract result will be applied to the study of the existence of solutions of the strongly indefinite partial differential systems. For the first application, we consider the systemΔu=uinΩ,Δv=vinΩ,∂u/∂η=Hv(x,u,v)on∂Ω,∂v/∂η=Hu(x,u,v)on∂Ω,where Ω is a bounded domain in RN with smooth boundary, ∂∂η is the outer normal derivative, H:∂Ω×R×R→R is a positive C1-function. One nontrivial solution is obtained. The second application, we will solve the eigenvalue problem of the systemAv=−f(x,v,w),Bw=βg(x,v,w),β>0,where A, B are self-adjoint operators on L2(Ω), Ω⊂RN is not necessarily bounded; f,g are Carathéodory functions on Ω×R2. We get infinitely many solutions. We deal with asymptotically linear cases for both systems.

Abstract:Given two tensor fields of type (1,1) on a smooth n-dimensional manifold M, such that all their Frölicher-Nijenhuis brackets vanish, the algebra of differential forms on M becomes a bi-differential graded algebra. As a consequence, there are partial differential equation (PDE) systems associated with it, which arise as the integrability condition of a system of linear equations and possess a binary Darboux transformation to generate exact solutions. We recover chiral models and potential forms of the self-dual Yang-Mills, as well as corresponding generalizations to higher than four dimensions, and obtain new integrable non-autonomous nonlinear matrix PDEs and corresponding systems.

Integrability of Nonabelian Differential-Difference Equations: the Symmetry Approach

Abstract:We propose a novel approach to tackle integrability problem for evolutionary differential-difference equations (D$\Delta$Es) on free associative algebras, also referred to as nonabelian D$\Delta$Es. This approach enables us to derive necessary integrability conditions, determine the integrability of a given equation, and make progress in the classification of integrable nonabelian D$\Delta$Es. This work involves establishing symbolic representations for the nonabelian difference algebra, difference operators, and formal series, as well as introducing a novel quasi-local extension for the algebra of formal series within the context of symbolic representations. Applying this formalism, we solve the classification problem of integrable skew-symmetric quasi-linear nonabelian equations of orders $(-1,1)$, $(-2,2)$, and $(-3,3)$, consequently revealing some new equations in the process.

Abstract:The Morales-Ramis theory provides an effective and powerful non-integrability criterion for complex analytical Hamiltonian systems via the differential Galoisian obstruction. In this paper we give a new Morales-Ramis type theorem on the meromorphic Jacobi non-integrability of general analytic dynamical systems. The key point is to show the existence of Jacobian multiplier of a nonlinear system implies the existence of common Jacobian multiplier of Lie algebra associated with the identity component. In addition, we apply our results to the polynomial integrability of Karabut systems for stationary gravity waves in finite depth.
