Abstract:The effects of pulse frequency on microstructure and properties of in-situ TiC reinforced Fe-based tungsten argon arc layers were studied. The results showed that under the same heat input, with the increases of the pulse frequency, the macroscopic forming quality improved, the particle size of TiC and the grain size of the Fe-based layer's matrix increased first and then decreased. TiC changed from equiaxed into agglomerated and finally into fine particles. TiC agglomerated obviously led to a poor corrosion resistance, and plastic stress accumulated in the gaps at 27 Hz. At 729 Hz, TiC dispersed evenly with the smallest grain size, and the layer possessed the highest hardness and best corrosion resistance. Moreover, the plastic stress distributed uniformly, which was conducive to suppressing plastic deformation. This study provides an economical method for preparing wear-corrosion resistant Fe-based cladding layers that used in the remanufacturing industry.
