Abstract:The concept of positively and negatively compatible null vectors arises in the study of Clifford geometric algebras with a Lorentz-Minkowski metric. In previous works, the basic properties of such algebras have been set down in terms of a new principle of quantum duality. In the present work, the same structure is studied in terms of real and complex quantum integers, which generalize the real and complex number systems. It seems natural to identify a qubit as a pair of compatible null vectors; the up state of the qubit being their sum, and the down state being their difference. Basic identities are developed to make calculations routine, and two different representations of the symmetric group are given.

Abstract:In this paper, we define and study Clifford quadratic complete intersections. After showing some properties of Clifford quantum polynomial algebras, we show that there is a natural one-to-one correspondence between Clifford quadratic complete intersections and commutative quadratic complete intersections. As an application, we give a classification of Clifford quadratic complete intersections in three variables in terms of their characteristic varieties.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, over a field k, we give the structure theorem of the quantum double of a finite Clifford monoid through bicrossed products and quantum doubles of groups. By this result, it is shown that the quantum double of a finite Clifford monoid is semisimple (resp. von Neumann regular) if and only if the semigroup is a finite group and the characteristic p of k does not divide the order of this group.

Abstract:We present different methods for symbolic computer algebra computations in higher dimensional (\ge9) Clifford algebras using the \Clifford\ and \Bigebra\ packages for \Maple(R). This is achieved using graded tensor decompositions, periodicity theorems and matrix spinor representations over Clifford numbers. We show how to code the graded algebra isomorphisms and the main involutions, and we provide some benchmarks.

Abstract:Clifford algebras are naturally associated with quadratic forms. These algebras are Z_2-graded by construction. However, only a Z_n-gradation induced by a choice of a basis, or even better, by a Chevalley vector space isomorphism Cl(V) <-> \bigwedge V and an ordering, guarantees a multi-vector decomposition into scalars, vectors, tensors, and so on, mandatory in physics. We show that the Chevalley isomorphism theorem cannot be generalized to algebras if the Z_n-grading or other structures are added, e.g., a linear form. We work with pairs consisting of a Clifford algebra and a linear form or a Z_n-grading which we now call 'Clifford algebras of multi-vectors' or 'quantum Clifford algebras'. It turns out, that in this sense, all multi-vector Clifford algebras of the same quadratic but different bilinear forms are non-isomorphic. The usefulness of such algebras in quantum field theory and superconductivity was shown elsewhere. Allowing for arbitrary bilinear forms however spoils their diagonalizability which has a considerable effect on the tensor decomposition of the Clifford algebras governed by the periodicity theorems, including the Atiyah-Bott-Shapiro mod 8 periodicity. We consider real algebras Cl_{p,q} which can be decomposed in the symmetric case into a tensor product Cl_{p-1,q-1} \otimes Cl_{1,1}. The general case used in quantum field theory lacks this feature. Theories with non-symmetric bilinear forms are however needed in the analysis of multi-particle states in interacting theories. A connection to q-deformed structures through nontrivial vacuum states in quantum theories is outlined.

Abstract:The representation theory of 0-Hecke-Clifford algebras as a degenerate case is not semisimple and also with rich combinatorial meaning. Bergeron et al. have proved that the Grothendieck ring of the category of finitely generated supermodules of 0-Hecke-Clifford algebras is isomorphic to the algebra of peak quasisymmetric functions defined by Stembridge. In this paper we further study the category of finitely generated projective supermodules and clarify the correspondence between it and the peak algebra of symmetric groups. In particular, two kinds of restriction rules for induced projective supermodules are obtained. After that, we consider the corresponding Heisenberg double and its Fock representation to prove that the ring of peak quasisymmetric functions is free over the subring of symmetric functions spanned by Schur's Q-functions.

Abstract:We present a discussion of the generalized Clifford group over non-cyclic finite abelian groups. These Clifford groups appear naturally in the theory of topological error correction and abelian anyon models. We demonstrate a generalized Gottesman-Knill theorem, stating that every Clifford circuit can be efficiently classically simulated. We additionally provide circuits for a universal quantum computing scheme based on local two-qudit Clifford gates and magic states.

Abstract:It is well known that Clifford (geometric) algebra offers a geometric interpretation for square roots of -1 in the form of blades that square to minus 1. This extends to a geometric interpretation of quaternions as the side face bivectors of a unit cube. Systematic research has been done [32] on the biquaternion roots of -1, abandoning the restriction to blades. Biquaternions are isomorphic to the Clifford (geometric) algebra $Cl(3,0)$ of $\mathbb{R}^3$. Further research on general algebras $Cl(p,q)$ has explicitly derived the geometric roots of -1 for $p+q \leq 4$ [17]. The current research abandons this dimension limit and uses the Clifford algebra to matrix algebra isomorphisms in order to algebraically characterize the continuous manifolds of square roots of -1 found in the different types of Clifford algebras, depending on the type of associated ring ($\mathbb{R}$, $\mathbb{H}$, $\mathbb{R}^2$, $\mathbb{H}^2$, or $\mathbb{C}$). At the end of the paper explicit computer generated tables of representative square roots of -1 are given for all Clifford algebras with $n=5,7$, and $s=3 \, (mod 4)$ with the associated ring $\mathbb{C}$. This includes, e.g., $Cl(0,5)$ important in Clifford analysis, and $Cl(4,1)$ which in applications is at the foundation of conformal geometric algebra. All these roots of -1 are immediately useful in the construction of new types of geometric Clifford Fourier transformations.

Abstract:We show how to use Clifford algebra techniques to describe the de Rham cohomology ring of equal rank compact symmetric spaces $G/K$. In particular, for $G/K=U(n)/U(k)\times U(n-k)$, we obtain a new way of multiplying Schur polynomials, i.e., computing the Littlewood-Richardson coefficients. The corresponding multiplication on the Clifford algebra side is, in a convenient basis given by projections of the spin module, simply the componentwise multiplication of vectors in $\mathbb{C}^N$, also known as the Hadamard product.

Abstract:We construct a Hopf algebra on integer binary relations that contains under the same roof several well-known Hopf algebras related to the permutahedra and the associahedra: the Malvenuto-Reutenauer algebra on permutations, the Loday-Ronco algebra on planar binary trees, and the Chapoton algebras on ordered partitions and on Schröder trees. We also derive from our construction new Hopf structures on intervals of the weak order on permutations and of the Tamari order on binary trees.

Abstract:We introduce a theory of Clifford semialgebra systems, with application to representation theory via Hasse-Schmidt derivations on exterior semialgebras. Our main result, after the construction of the Clifford semialgebra, is a formula describing the exterior semialgebra as a representation of the Clifford semialgebra, given by the endomorphisms of the first wedge power.

Abstract:In this paper, we study in the context of quantum vertex algebras a certain Clifford-like algebra introduced by Jing and Nie. We establish bases of PBW type and classify its $\mathbb N$-graded irreducible modules by using a notion of Verma module. On the other hand, we introduce a new algebra, a twin of the original algebra. Using this new algebra we construct a quantum vertex algebra and we associate $\mathbb N$-graded modules for Jing-Nie's Clifford-like algebra with $\phi$-coordinated modules for the quantum vertex algebra. We also show that the adjoint module for the quantum vertex algebra is irreducible.

Abstract:This paper investigates centralizers and twisted centralizers in degenerate and non-degenerate Clifford (geometric) algebras. We provide an explicit form of the centralizers and twisted centralizers of the subspaces of fixed grades, subspaces determined by the grade involution and the reversion, and their direct sums. The results can be useful for applications of Clifford algebras in computer science, physics, and engineering.

Abstract:We introduce a family of cluster algebras of infinite rank associated with root systems of type $A$, $D$, $E$. We show that suitable completions of these cluster algebras are isomorphic to the Grothendieck rings of the categories $\mathcal{O}_\mathbb{Z}$ of the corresponding shifted quantum affine algebras. The cluster variables of a class of distinguished initial seeds are certain formal power series defined by E. Frenkel and the second author, which satisfy a system of functional relations called $QQ$-system. We conjecture that all cluster monomials are classes of simple objects of $\mathcal{O}_\mathbb{Z}$. In the final section, we show that these cluster algebras contain infinitely many cluster subalgebras isomorphic to the coordinate ring of the open double Bruhat cell of the corresponding simple simply-connected algebraic group. This explains the similarity between $QQ$-system relations and certain generalized minor identities discovered by Fomin and Zelevinsky.

Abstract:The power of Clifford or, geometric, algebra lies in its ability to represent geometric operations in a concise and elegant manner. Clifford algebras provide the natural generalizations of complex, dual numbers and quaternions into non-commutative multivectors. The paper demonstrates an algorithm for the computation of inverses of such numbers in a non-degenerate Clifford algebra of an arbitrary dimension. The algorithm is a variation of the Faddeev-LeVerrier-Souriau algorithm and is implemented in the open-source Computer Algebra System Maxima. Symbolic and numerical examples in different Clifford algebras are presented.
